5 stars for the food, 2 stars for the cost! We heard great things about the food- so finally made it here tonight, all the way from Staten Island. We ordered from the food bar- however, there were no signs as to the price, but how much can it be? My husband got a sample of 2 meats, rice and beans, 3 plantains (that's all they had), my plate had vegetables, corn, 2 meats, something that looked like mashed potatoes but wasn't, and the owner gave us a bowl of black beans (I would have shared my husbands). We took home an order of plantains and had one soda that we shared. Our bill came to $35.25. food, this is no fancy restaurant, and we have NEVER paid that much for Cuban food. Ordered a tuna fish sandwich. I got a STRAIGHT UP MAYO (BUT IT SMELLS LIKE FISH) sandwich. Zero tuna fish! Zilch, nada, not a single sliver of tuna was eaten by me today for lunch. This place is horrible when it comes to customer service. I ordered Ropa vieja from them and when I came to pick up my food they failed to tell me they ran out of ropa vieja and that they substituted my meal with something that was less expensive than what I originally paid for so when I called them they said they would give me a comp meal. When I called back a couple of days later in regards to it they said they had no clue what I was talking about but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and still ordered two items for delivery, when I received my delivery I saw that my Cuban sandwich was missing and the sides to my other order did not have the same quality as the ones from when I ordered s couple days back. I called Cuban cafe to talk to the manager and she told me she would fully reimburse me. Now it's the next day and they're saying they're not going to reimburse me and would keep talking over me every time I would try to explain why I'm frustrated with their customer service.
