This review is specific to the Key Lime Square location. My main complaint about this restaurant is the outdoor seating area is usually dirty. I think they wipe down tables once in the morning and never look back. The tables often have chickens sitting on them along with chicken droppings. I'm surprised the board of health doesn't do something. Many other Key West restaurants have chickens around, but they keep them off the tables and clean the tables regularly. The food is good a pretty affordable for Key West. The Cuban dishes taste authentic and the breakfast sandwiches are very good. I just think the Key Lime Square location looks dirty. The other location with seating in the Shops at Mallory Square is much nicer since it's indoors and would get 4 stars. I find the 3% fee for a credit card annoying but other places are doing the same thing. read more

We visited this location early on a Tuesday morning. There was no line to order. The square is a very lovely place like the rest of the town, beautiful and tranquil. The cashier was robbing his eyes as if he couldn't get up this early too. Despite sleepy he answered my question: what is the most popular coffee drink here? The answer is the coffee con leche. I wanted to try something stronger so I got the Cortadito which is double shots. The coffee comes cane sugar in it and it's very delicious. I only wish I could have more. Hobby got a raztastic smoothie and we shared the Cuban breakfast burrito without cheese. It has 3 fried eggs, rice, black beans and chorizo. It was sooooo good that I am still missing it now. Our food came out pretty fast. By the time we finished the line is out of the patio. Definitely get here early. read more

Cuban Coffee Queen is the perfect afternoon pick me up if you're exploring Key West and need an extra boost to usher you into the night! I literally stumbled onto their little shop while walking around and knew I had to grab a cup to get me through the rest of the day. Such a good decision! The shop is kind of open air which is nice because it allows you to continue people watching and enjoying the gorgeous weather in Key West. The menu is large enough to have something for everyone but small enough that it doesn't feel overwhelming. They offer a good mix of American coffee drinks and Cuban coffee drinks. I had the Cuban iced coffee with no syrup or flavoring added. It was strong but it was sooo good. My favorite part of the drink was that the ice cubes in my drink were made of coffee so my drink didn't ever get watered down as the ice melted in the Key West heat. I got a small and it was plenty large enough, especially given how strong the coffee is. There are cute little picnic tables if you want to rest while you recharge or you can grab your drink and just keep sightseeing! Decent food and coffee. Order was wrong and requested ice for my coffee as it's 93 degrees and I ordered cold. I was met with extreme hostility. The gentleman poured my hot drink into ice and gave it to me. It was still warm so I just asked for more ice. He then was screaming he would make a new one. I declined and just asked for more ice. Im not a huge coffee fan but Cuban coffee Queen has fresh, delicious, and flavorful roast. You can go inside and watch fresh coffee be roasted, ground, and bagged before you. I go here to get coffee for the crew at my job and everyone loves it! You can choose either pre ground or whole roasted beans. Of course it smells super good in the coffee shop. Even if you don't like coffee seeing and smelling it so fresh will make you want some. The service is great and helpful. They take pre orders and it has been flawless every time. As people who come to this island frequently we have been wanting to try this place for ages. There are a few locations around the island. We are so happy we did, I had the iced coffee with caramel. They make their coffees with sweetened milk already. Y'all their coffee is . The use a Cuban sweet bread for their sandwiches and it makes them perfect. We sat outside on picnic tables. Having noted that there were vegan- and vegetarian-friendly sandwich options, and given the quality of their coffee, we decided to give their food a try. We got the black bean burger with no aioli, their hummus sandwich (both came with plantain chips on the side) and we also got a side of their "famous" rice and beans to share. Everything was fantastic and extremely flavorful. I got the Cuban mix sandwich which came with plantain chips and a couple of dum dum suckers. This is a great sandwich to grab while hoofing it around Mallory Square and the art shops "mall". I'm really not sold on the plantain chips packaged by a company in Miami and would have rather just had some other accompaniment. They have a good proprietary hot sauce that complements the sandwich well. Beverage choices are down to infinite fresh coffee choices or drinks in a beverage cooler (including some Cuban sodas). So after our (very good) lunch at Mangoes we set out to find the Cuban Coffee Queen. It's tucked away in Key Lime Square just off Duvall street and we would not have found it if we were not looking! The pie was very good, but not the best we had in the keys. However, the cold brew was fantastic and I could drink it every day! We arrived in Key West at 10AM from Ft. Lauderdale and had not yet had our breakfast. I had read about the Cuban Coffee Queen on Yelp and had to give it a try. I'm glad I did. I ordered a black coffee with a shot of espresso and Cuban toast. Cuban toast is Cuban bread with cheese and bacon it was just what I needed. The bacon was perfectly cooked, chewy and not too crispy. Now their coffee... This was probably the best cup of coffee I ever had. Rich with a depth of flavor that I've never had in coffee before. I took it with me and while walking around Key West I'd exclaim to my wife, "this is the best cup of coffee I've ever had"! It was so good I had to go back the next morning and if I lived in the area I'd be there every morning. I had the Cuban toast again and again I walked away very satisfied and still drinking my cup of Joe. It's located in Key Lime Square and can be accessed from Duval St. when you see their sign just walk down the narrow alley and you'll find the Cuban Coffee Queen. For all you Starbucks fans (my self included) the Cuban Coffee Queen is way better coffee than anything you will get at Starbucks. I wish they were in my neighborhood. They have a small retail shop selling coffee beans, t-shirts and hats. I brought some of their beans and a t-shirt home. As good as I make coffee I could not duplicate what they made for me. I ordered 2 eggs over easy, rice and beans...eggs eat over cooked and the rice was super hard...either it was old rice or not cooked enough, and the black beans tasted like a can...falta adobo....My friend ordered a raspberry croissant and the person helping us s forgot it and then gave us the wrong one...I almost never write reviews, but she had to after the crappy attitude we received, I felt the need to write a review.
