In a land where Cuban food is more abundant than water, I doubted that much would be diffrent with Cuban Guys. Well I'm glad to eat my words and thier food too! Really just a step above the rest of the Cuban resturants and cafes. Staff is friendly, prices are good and the place has always been very clean every time I've gone. I'm editing this review, and updating my report. The beans are always perfectly flavored, which you don't get at Pollo Tropical. 4 things I wish would change: They sell (underprice) the steak bowl for $4 on Wednesdays after 4PM, but overprice it for $7 all the other times. Lower it by a buck (to $5.99) and I can visit twice as much. With a soda, I spent over $9 !! A Tropichop is $5.29 with a soda. If you go at 3:55PM on Wednesday ......the cashier would not allow me to purchase the bowl not even a minute before 4PM. Why not adjust the register to start the promo 5 minutes before to not aggravate the 8 people waiting in line for 4PM to arrive? The shallow bowl (and it isn't microwave safe). It's so shallow that it isn't stackable, and cools off your food quickly. I still hate the ATM machine that serves the soda. It's a bad reason to overcharge for the soda. The distracting digital menu with weird watermark motion. Why the cheesy motion??? Regardless, I can't deny that lately I have visited a few additional times (Sunset location), and it appears the product has improved somehow. I still can't stomach trying the "pan con bistec" since my first review. It was paper thin. I will try it again in the future, when I can take the chance. Mayo on a pan con bistec?? Seriously??? I hate making the same mistake twice, but at some point when I drive by, I'll try it again, and provide an update. I've never wanted a place to succeed more than this. They definitely have my support. *********** I don't get it. The chicken bowl had MAYBE 2-3 ounces of chicken. My spouse had the same chicken bowl, and hers looked like she ordered the large version. How can it be that 2 people order the same item going to the same table, yet the workers allow one plate to be generously portioned, and the other be served with less rice, and less chicken? I guess I'm the only one that cares? My wife laughed. My other concern, is that I can buy chicken breast for $1 a pound. It would be nice if I received a generous portion of chicken, considering it's the cheapest protein (other than crickets). I will give this place another shot, since it is close to work. If I get 7 chicken chunks again...I'll go to Pollo Tropical and get a Tropichop and soda for $5.19 instead. read more

I must say at first I thought this was a run in the mill Hialeah Cuban restaurant. Was I wrong! The menu is very easy to read, and a nice variety of options to choose from. I went with the Vaca Frita Bowl and it was awesome! This isn't your ordinary Chicken Kitchen bowl. This bowl had rice and beans with shredded beef 'a lo Cubano' with onions, diced plantains and shoe string fries. Oh don't forget the 'Passion Fruit' drink and you have yourself a kick ass Cuban lunch. Prices are great, and the food was awesome. read more

I've been wanting to try Cuban Guys for awhile, finally made it out to Hialeah today & boy am I glad I did! I had a Frita with cheese & my boyfriend had the Vaca Frita sandwich. My frita was great & very filling, can't wait to come back on a Tuesday when they're $2!! I tasted my boyfriend's vaca frita (which happens to be my favorite Cuban food but i'm very particular about it) and it was AMAZING!!! OMG it was sooo good, that's definitely going to be my go-to sandwich at this place from now on! Before leaving I had a plain flan & it was de-licious, exactly the way my grandma made it (maybe even better!). The staff was really nice & the place was very clean too. I dont generally write reviews so swiftly, but this is urgent. This is my second time here and I'm in love. Their frita is so on point I could scream. It's really good. With the cheese and onions and some crystal hot sauce, I highly recommend it. The staff is great, too. Very nice people. I've also tried the choripan and though I hear it is not traditional (a chorizo in a bun, a la hot dog,) I enjoyed it very much. Don't hesitate, go as soon as you can! While in the West Hialeah neighborhood I tried a frita at Cuban Guys and it was so good that I came back the next day all the way from West Kendall so that my wife could eat here, and of course so I could enjoy another frita. The place was very busy both times I went and although there was a slight wait for the food on both visits, everything was made to order and was well worth the few extra minutes. The owner is extremely friendly and welcomed me when placing my order. Later he came by our table to make sure everything was ok and his pleasantness and enthusiasm made our experience all the more enjoyable. The fritas are seasoned perfectly and the thin crispy fried potato sticks and onions on top of the burger give it that much more flavor. The Cuban bun is nice and fresh and holds everything perfectly in place. All I can say is delicioso. My wife had a pan con vaca frita which also was topped with the crispy fried potato sticks, as well as grilled onions and lettuce. She happens to love vaca frita and thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich. For dessert we asked the owner for his recommendation and he told us to try the guava and cheese flan. Great choice! My wife is a flan aficionado and she said it was one of the best she ever had (her all time favorite being the flan at Rio Crystal on Bird Road). Cuban Guys is definitely a hit and the owner mentioned he is looking into opening more locations in South Florida. To that I say bravo and I hope that one of them is close to where I live so I can enjoy this food more often. read more

After having a minor issue (food didn't have much flavor) with the way the food tasted of course one of the owners contacted me and apologized about the issue and invited me to have lunch on him! That was so professional of him and that just lets me know he cares about his consumers and their satisfaction. I'm 100% satisfied with the food from today and the service. This is the original Cuban guys restaurant and is such a great idea! Cuban and fast food! You can find the owner there and he is super good person. The food is delicious and loaded with flavor! My favorite is the vaca frita bowl. And I just experience there flan and it tastes classic Cuban style. I look forward to eating here more often on my lunch break. Immediately after writing my review I was contacted by one of the owners, Jorge, who apologized for my poor experience and assured me that my sandwich was not served according to their standards. He let me know that he spoke with the manager of the store to ensure that this would not happen again. I was impressed; this is what customer service is supposed to be like. Jorge asked me to give Cuban Guys another chance, so I finally went back yesterday, again with my boyfriend. We ordered the exact same thing, except I got mariquitas instead of yuca fries. This time? Much, much better. This time I was served a sandwich that looked like something that deserved to be photographed. The media noche was stacked high with ham, pork, cheese, and pickles. My boyfriend's pan con bistec was actually seasoned and flavorful. The mariquitas were good, too, although the "mojo" they give for dipping was really oily and kind of gross. You can't win them all! Anyway, I wanted to update my review because I felt that they really redeemed themselves. If this is what their food is consistently like, then I totally understand why everyone loves this place. I first heard about cuban guys through a food blog that i follow and I absolutely loved it. This has been maybe the third visit to Cuban Guys and I think the food is great as its served as fast food. I am happy this is close to my hometown of Hialeah and not to far from the palmetto. They offer traditional cuban soft drinks, natural juices, "batidos" and beer. Nice selection of cuban sandwiches, bowls and other yummy foods. I hope they create a chain and open one in broward!! read more

Not impressed..... I live in broward and was so excited coming to Miami today and on the way home get a good Cuban sandwich and cafe con leche. I ordered their Cuban baby which is a small Cuban sandwich and it was cold all the way through and the cheese was not even melted. Cafe con leche was not right either :( disappointed. read more

I went to try this restaurant after hearing it advertised on the radio. Wow! The food was delicious!! I had a Cuban bowl with Vaca Frita and even the onions were delicious...and I don't even eat onions. I received my meal under 10 minutes and the manager was very attentive. I don't get tired of this place. Not only is the food amazing but it's also clean. They need to get a better ventilation systems because you do get a very strong onion smell on you if you eat inside. This place is a little Cuban style, fast food Hagen that makes me crave for more! The prices are cheap, the food is good and cooked to order. When you walk in you see the menu is on a huge screen instead of a chalk board or sit down style. You place your order and can enjoy your fountain drink from one of those super cool 300flavor machines as you wait for your name to be called out. In regards to the food, the fritas a delicious without being overly greesy, the chicken sandwich is good too. Today, I tried the ropa vieja sandwich. It was more like vaca frita, it didn't have much red sauce. But it was still absolutely delicious! The bread was crispy, the meat was soft and savory and the potato strings gave it that crunch I love! They also have specials after 4 pm on most weekdays.
