This CubeSmart store made my first time renting a storage unit a cinch. I was originally looking to rent a 5'x5', but after seeing the different sizes in real life, went with the slightly larger 5'x7.5'. (By the way, the "storage lockers" are only accessible by ladder, which was something I did not want to risk with my bad back, as tempting as the price was.) Every time I visited over the past 3.5 months, the facility was clean (do they use "new carpet" air freshener?), the carts plentiful, the staff nice. The setup made loading and unloading large amounts of things really easy. (Well, outside of the slightly-sloping parking area, but minor quibble.) The Home Depot next door is a little too convenient, as evidenced by my having spent more at that location than anywhere else in the US. Even ran into some great folks in the elevators along the way. I was sad to close my account today. As I told the rep, CubeSmart has been my home away from home for the past few months. If I can't find an apartment right away in Chicago, I am hoping that my CubeSmart experience there will be just as lovely as this one here has been for me. Thanks, guys! read more

Too many junk fees-unprofessional front desk staff member. Rude, aggressive, defensive. Witnessed him yell at another customer. Uncomfortable and unpleasant individual. He refused to give his name, said everyone is a manager and call corporate. I called on another day. He hung up the phone on me. I left a message and never received a call back. Additional fee for lein/auction/ late fee/administrative. Only have 1 week to pay then in less than 7 days late fee of $30. Employee said he cannot help call corporate. Corporate re-routes call back to Flushing, Queens-Delong Street. Waiting over 1 week to speak to Janette. This is bad for business. I hope leadership sees this and enforce better practices. What's going on in Downtown, Flushing Queens location? Such a shame and embarrassment to the company. People at the location you do business with tell you to call Corporate, and they don't have the name of their supervisor or boss. No accountability/ responsibility. read more

Do not rent here without getting every policy in writing first. Here's what happened: I called this CubeSmart before our final month and asked a very specific question. If we moved out in the middle of the month, would we get a prorated refund for the days we didn't use? The employee said yes. Based on that answer, we paid for another full month (around $600) instead of just moving out at the end of the month, which was our original plan. We moved out mid-month. Then, surprise, "no refunds." I asked them to check the call logs. That's when it got worse. The manager got on the phone and I could hear him yelling in the background, apparently at his employees. He kept telling me he "didn't know" what was discussed on the original call because he had been on vacation, while he was looking at the logs in front of him. No ownership. No concern that his own staff had given out false information. No effort to fix it. I'm out money for days I never used, purely because I believed what their employee told me on the phone. Bottom line for future customers: the people at the counter and on the phone may tell you one thing, and management will later deny it and keep your money. Get every quote, every policy, every promise in writing before you hand them a dollar. You've been warned. read more

Unfortunately, at the Delong street location, I was here for 3 years and I have several issues at this place. For 3 years, every 5-6 months they raise the price for no accurate reason. Even during covid! It's crazy! For 5x5 bin I was paying already $130.00. To me wasn't worth it and on top of that the place wasn't always clean. Another major issue was the storage hours! The website says it's open til 7pm and on weekends and I have gone there 645pm couple of occasions to find the place closed! The storage code when you enter it was saying "cube storage now closed come back tomorrow". WTH? There's other storage areas that are open til 10pm and you can pay way less than this place. I was looking for a long term storage not a temporary storage. This location tends to have temporary storage limit. When I said something to the girl that works at the office she told me we open til 7pm. And asked me if I saw the gate down in office and I said yes! It was all closed at exactly 645pm. She didn't know what to say. I only came here because it is close to my home but I'm glad I'm not here no more. I found better and more convenient hours. Look elsewhere! read more

I've had to update my review and deduct a couple of stars. The biggest problem is that the cost on the website is not the cost I was charged. $26 for a 5x5x4 unit, only applied to a unit 8' above the ground, which was not mentioned on the website. The same size unit at a more reasonable height was $40. I was ok with this, although I was very disappointed that this was an unpleasant surprise when I arrived with a car load of stuff. A few months later I need to upgrade to a larger unit, only to be told that 5x5x8 is over $100 a month, so twice the size is over twice the price, despite being advertised as $78 on the website. On the phone I was told the price is for new customers only, which makes it cheaper for me to go to a competitor and get their new customer price? I get that you want to attract new customers, but how about retaining existing ones, rather than relying on the fact that it's easier to take a bad deal than move everything to another unit. The units themselves are great, clean, well lit and security is good. But the unclear pricing model spoils an otherwise great experience. read more

If I can give this place NO STARS I would. Was at this location for a year to store my personal belongings from a recent divorce. After 6mon my rent went up 15% for no reason. Covid hit and I didn't go to my storage for a while. Recently I just went back and noticed I was missing a lot of my personal belongings... about $34k worth. When I questioned the MGR they just said ok call 911, they take too long. No concern or emotion or sympathy for my loss. Police showed up and said this is the 3rd time they come to that location for missing items. They believe it's an inside job. I am currently dealing with their insurance agent and from what I'm being told they will cover up to $2k. read more

This location is fantastic. Highlight is the crew: A staff member efficiently walked me through all points (unit location, access method, terms, fees, etc.) with SUPERB attitude. He even showed me unit position options and was very patient while I decided on one, thank you! The entire process took about 10-15 min and I was all set to move my stuff in. Then the cleanliness/security: CubeSmart facilities are CLEAN. All climate controlled and insurance covers losses caused by pretty much all natural disasters imaginable. You need a code to get into the building, a code to get on your floor, and you bring your own lock for the unit so it's VERY SECURE. I feel comfortable leaving my belongings there. read more

Experience at cubesmart storage was fine, but the free 2 hours truck and driver was a disservice. I would have paid for my own truck and drove out on my own if I knew they were going to be 2 1/2 hours late. They gave us a window of 10-12 and no one gave us a call to let us know the drivers were running late. Obviously we had to chase down their whereabouts and I should be so lucky that the truck even showed up. read more

Storage unit rate turns up every half year or year. I am an elder once it higher then I can afford. I have to move even it is big problem. This is the reason At June I was came back NY looking for here one unit move my things from other storage. This storage stuff Mr.wang was nicely showed me few unit. late on I want to know if it price will go up and how long is term and how much is the rate, the manager Jeniffer was very impient and cut the phone line. After that I called many time was no connect any more. Now I going to leave NY because cold. I made an unit reservations on this storage web site. Expensive but most storage is. The person who helped me was very nice and the place is clean and very accessible. It also is very safe - I feel comfortable taking items during off hours- it doesn't give me the creeps like some storage places. read more

The place is very clean is in a very convenient location where it's not in a heavy traffic area, but it's just a little off College Point Blvd. The person who showed me around, Jing W, was great and took the time to show me a few different storage sizes. I like the staff, they are very helpful. Except that I was not given enough time (notice) to move my stuff. Unfortunately I have some boxes I don't want to carry along with me. I don't like the fact that I have to call for the truck 48 hours in advance. It is really difficult since I have to do this by my self, no other strong arms to help. I like the price but do not like the location very much. I should probably hire private? Some of the storage spaces are located on top of others. not convenient. read more

First of all, it is just so simple and easy to reserve & store items. Once booked online, I got a call from one of the professional staff members, confirmed the moving-in date, and I stored all the storages (step 1,2,3). The loading/unloading spots are very roomy. No hassles even if there were 2 big moving trucks. What else...!!! They have the best online rate which I got, and the rate will be kept for 6months. I used this storage for 5 months. For the five months a lot of my stuff became garbage especially my baby stuffs. "They said sorry and apologize but they we cannot do anything" I do not want to even touch my furniture because they became so disgusting. I would never recommend this place to anybody especially to who has baby stuffs. read more

They happened to be nearly out of the units that I'd requested, but made sure to still honour my reservation at the discount I'd been promised. This storage facility is in a great location and staff is always friendly. Jason helped me with the registration and gave an efficient tour of the space while sharing some information about storing at the space.
