My monthly bill had doubled in this period! What a scam. However, Tony walked me thru transparently how secure space does the billing and helped me set up a new storage unit in the same building for the same price as I originally signed up for. I was going to leave secure space for good and take my business elsewhere, but knowing there is personal customer service that is willing to look out for my interests has convinced me to stay. I am trying to understand- I do not know if my needing just 17 days was the problem or if they didnt check when they said they had space. I always feel bad when business relationships turn out so. The tweakers broke into the unit through the wire mesh overhead by clipping the metal. Simply self storage was notified about what happened and said that they would be fixing the hole in the unit ASAP and looking at security cameras. I called every day to ask the progress on repairing my unit and it took them 7 days to patch the hole in the top. How did they fix it? 3 zip ties. you would think after paying $250 a month for a secure unit that they would at least fix it the right way. I then asked if they saw anything on security cameras, and well guess what? the camera doesn't face towards my unit. Could this have been an inside job? Really makes me wonder! Lighting inside of the unit is poor, there is a older man living out of one of the units near the large bay door where you load and unload your belongings. The homeless hangout right down by the waterfront. I wouldn't recommend using this facility.

I see by other reviews that some people have had problems, and I can't speak to that, but compared to the storage company where I, myself, last rented a space, Ballard CubeSmart is many cuts above.

They will jack your rates up way higher than the rates they have listed online. I am not talking about the introductory discount for the first few months but the regular rates listed. My rate went from $120 to over $200...but the online rate is still just $130. They will claim its market rates but a quick look at all the facilities nearby show they are all around the $130 range. They also are telling us we can't use disk locks or padlocks and are only allowed to use the far less secure cylinder locks.
