The only reason this gets 2 stars is because there is gated secure entry. However, the gate is controlled via app and if the connection malfunctions you have to get out of the car, right on a very sketchy part of Aurora (although, what area of Aurora is not sketchy?) to enter a code manually, you can't reach the control panel from the car as it's too close to the gate. The inside hallways are creepy with flickering lights, no light inside the storage units, and infested with spiders. Sometimes there are trolleys available, many times they are not, making you have to carry one box at a time to/from the car/unit. Only once have I ever seen anyone actually working on site. They have the worst access hours that vary between weekdays and weekends so accessing your unit after a workday is impossible, and weekend hours are even more limited. And the number one reason for a poor review is they are increasing my rent by about 75%...rent will be nearly $100 for their unit the size of a prison cell. read more

The manager Alex was great. I had to remove the belongings of a family member that passed, and only had a few days at the end of the month to get things out. I didn't want to pay another month, since the belongings had been sitting there for 8+ years and I didn't want any of them. With staffing shortages, sometimes people aren't manned in the office. It would be nice to have the messages updated to when someone will be back in the office so I didn't call so much. But in the end, it all worked out. read more

Do not store your stuff at this storage unit by any means. First of all the place is really old and smells extremely musty. My stuff was only there for a month over the summer between switching apartments and ending up all smelling musty which caused me to have to do numerous loads of laundry and throw away non-washable items. Secondly, they obviously do not spray for bugs as thousands of ant eggs and dead ants were all over and in my items as well. Besides the nasty conditions, the manager Alex is incompetent and rude. I came a day "late" to get the last of my items, a month is not a month here they charge every 30 days instead of ending an actual month after you started. He charged me $72 to access my stuff that was only still there because of THEIR ant issue. He told me he would try to get it refunded from corporate especially because of the issues with my unit. I had my dad call him to check up on the refund since I'm a student and busy with school and Alex LIED and said he called me and told me the refund was denied even though he has not once contacted me or spoken to me about the refund. Overall, the place is in horrible conditions so don't store your stuff here, they try to trick you by charging every 30 days and not monthly, and their manager Alex is an incompetent liar. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Great experience moving in but check oit has been a terrible experience. Was on auto-pay, never late. Scheduled move out 30 days in advance and when the truck showed up to move out was told that I needed to immediately pay a full month plus $70 late fee or truck could not enter. Apparently the process turned off auto-pay without telling me- no bills or late notices sent. Discussed with property and said they wouldn't do anything- then was told the district manager was consulted and said too bad it's in the fine print somewhere that autopay turns off when you scheduke a vacate date. Talked to corporate customer service and they immediately reversed the late fee. Then received another bill after move out. Talked to customer service and they said the property didn't "move me out" on the vacate date. Called propoerty and spoke with district manager- was told that in the contract fine print they charge through the end of the month unless move out is in first 6 days of month, even if scheduled more than 30 days in advance. So I'm paying over$200 for a vacant unit. read more

Actually, I'm not really in the position of rating this fully, as I helped my GF move her stuff out of the warehouse; I didn't store my stuff here. On a Wednesday afternoon the place was pretty busy with people coming and going. Never stored my stuff beyond "My Parents' Warehouse (ie. Garage)", so wasn't sure what to expect coming here. Did notice that the place was clean and very secure, with a 6-foot+ gate and code needed to access. The front desk lady asked all the right questions before letting me "into the back". Being that it's right on Aurora next to the Home Depot, this storage felt pretty safe. The inside was also clean and free of junk. But speaking of junk - was surprised that's what most people store in a public storage. I mean, I'd expect to store extra papers or oversized furniture that wouldn't fit in an apartment here, but people were hauling out plastic modular crap and velveteen horses in the shape of footstools. Really? You PAY to store that stuff? All Public Storage needs is an area where people can have impromptu garage sales or purchase each other's crap, which will necessitate the need for more storage space. read more

This is one of the most run down properties PS owns, the restroom is a health hazzard to say the least. Omg so disgusting, don't sit on the seat!!! No heat in the building, freezing cold inside. People have been known to live there and the two dozen or so illegals that stand around on the other side of the fence at Home Depot should have immigration called on them. Having said all that, Tom has got to be the nicest dude ever. His hands are tied as far as the crappy condition of the facility. He works there, he doesn't own it. UPDATE: Security here has improved, unfortunately, the people that rent here cannot get access unless it's during office hours only 9:30am to 6pm and 5pm on weekends. Here's the thing. You'll be told that strange people won't be wandering the premesis but that's not the case at all. It's like Meth central over here. I swear people live in these units- I see the same faces all the time, wandering the halls, using the 'public restroom'. This place downright sucks. Who are these people loitering in the parking lot with their friends??? After one year, my bill jumped 50%. After 6 months, another 50%. Screw that. I'd rather live with my boxes floor to ceiling in my tiny overpriced apartment. While the manager dude is old and nice enough, he clearly needs to retire and let some ex-cop run this place and cut the bullshit. read more

On a positive note, my belongings were intact after a year of storage in Seattle. We moved out of state for the year, and I had no choice but to accept a rate hike mid-term. I made arrangements two weeks in advance for a moving company to meet us at the storage facility as soon as we were back in town. I called Public Storage telling them my moving date and was disappointed to learn that there would be no reimbursement for the majority of the month I paid in advance ( I moved on the 6th). However the real shocker was when I arrived with the moving company at 8:15 in the morning, only to learn that the gate would not open using my code until 9:30 a.m. Nothing on the card I was given 1 year ago specified the hours of operation. The district manager would not return my calls, and the national operators could do nothing for me. I had to pay the movers an additional $200 just to sit and wait for the gate code to work. Why have a gate code if it only works when the manager is there? And why not open before 9:30 in the morning? read more

I had my storage unit broken into by 2 meth heads who were living here about a year ago. They broke into at least a dozen different units based on the number of different credit cards and other belongings we found in their units filled with stolen loot. They didn't inform anyone that their stuff was stolen or broken into, I had to find out myself. Refused to give me a discount or refund or anything, nor did they help me move my stolen stuff or find my stolen stuff. Also, the insurance company knocked my $5000 value of my unit down to 2000, awesome. read more

Really unimpressed. Got a quote for a unit then went home and filled the truck. What they DIDN'T tell me was that they require you to buy insurance ($11-15 extra per month) and you must buy their custom lock ($19). Seems to be a bottom feeding business that nickel and dimes people. read more

Raised my rate by $30 a month after 3 or 4 months. Unseemly people hanging out in there around closing that seem to live there. Drug type people argueing, even the smell of pee. Feel uncomfortable with my stuff in there, but of course they know it's hard to move, so they can get away with jacking up the price. read more

Warning: Do not rent a storage unit here. We were storing household items for 10 months while our house was being remodeled. Unit was broken into twice. The first time, the lock public storage sold me was cut off and replaced with a different lock. The second time there was no sign of how they got in. The insurance that the PS agent insisted was required won't pay claims without evidence of forced entry. Why would a storage unit thief go to the trouble of ensuring there was no sign of forced entry. This place is seriously wrong. read more

My wife and I moved from Long Beach to Seattle at the end of December 2016. We were unable to secure an apartment prior to coming so I contacted Public Storage. I was able to reserve storage space online and when we arrive a day late (I got sick as we were packing and we couldn't leave on time.) I did email them and request that they hold my reservation. When we arrived on 12/30/16, I went to the facility and my reservation was intact and I still got the first month for a dollar (Actually, it's a little more because there are some administrative fees.). Point is that they didn't have to honor the reservation because I have violated the terms of the agreement, but they did and to top it off they were very helpful. Every time that I came to the facility it was clean and the staff (Tom and Tiffany) were always helpful. I closed my account down this afternoon as I found a place to live and I got all of my property out of the storage unit. My experience was very positive and I appreciate the service that I received for the short time that I stored there. I would use them again and I recommend them highly. read more

Staff is friendly. The bathroom could be cleaner but I mean it is right on US99/Aurora Ave... Parking lot is secured with a gate and I have never had any issues with meth heads or drunks. Dunno what people are talking about. I have no reason to not give it below a 4 star rating. read more

Tom, the manager is pretty great. He's helped me almost every time I've been here. He actually called up their corporate offices for me and got them to waive a $20 late fee since I made it in to pay my bill that week. Dwayne? Younger guy with dreads is pretty friendly as well. The premises leave something to be desired what with the urine smell in the elevator and the tweakers and junkies loitering by the Home Depot next door but for the price I can't complain too much. I don't doubt for an instant that there are some people living in these units but I'm sure that's to be expected at just about any storage place. read more

The manager Tom is a stand up guy who does his job well. Very nice, treats people with respect and courtesy. He needs more help from corporate in securing and taking care of the building though it seems. I never had any issues with theft or people breaking in, but there were constantly homeless people hanging around and begging for things. Others reported that their stuff had been stolen. I think this is more related to the area the area the storage facility is in, but the property is also very run down. Needs some security and TLC. Public Storage is a very profitable publicly traded company, I think they can afford to help make the building a safer and more inviting place. Aside from that, I no issues at all. Auto billing worked exactly as explained, and I was out very quickly and easily. read more

If you store your things here be prepared to be played between the sales people onsite and their main office in California. I rented a 10x10 unit for over a year. The special discounted rate ended about 6 months in so I continued paying the total payment of $156 per month for an additional 6 months. In order to ensure they were paid on time each month I signed up for auto pay which draws payment on the 4th of each month. The month I moved out I was told by the sales people and their district manager that I could move out by the 6th and only pay for the first six days of the month. However, although I finished moving out on the 5th and they were able to rent my unit to someone else, they charged me the full amount plus the prorated amount because of the autopay. When I asked them when I would see a refund they told me it was in the mail. It has been over a month now and I have not seen a check. I assume had I not used autopay and maybe been late on a payment they would have hit me with a substantial fee (speculation on my part only). I don't understand why they weren't happy to have a good customer who paid them promptly at the start of each month and didn't give them problems. If you can store your stuff elsewhere, do it. read more

When I first signed up for storage, I had an appointment to meet someone at the lot. The office was empty, and nobody was available to talk to. No phone, no indication of where they were or when they might get back. Wasted trip. Came back again later, and someone was at the desk. As they showed me the facility, it became apparent that the reason nobody answered phones or could talk to you was because it was one dude, and he had to give tours of the facilities and leave the office to do things. Well fine, whatever, it's just storage. So I signed up. Stuff was in the place about a month. My wife and I gave up house hunting, got an apartment, and it was time to get our stuff. Since I work during the day and she has class, we hired movers and she was going to show them where things were, and then come back. The facility is under construction. The construction vehicles completely block access to all the units for anything other than someone on foot. My wife asked the guy at the desk (who identified himself as a manager--whether that's just Public storage code for 'desk guy' or a higher tier, I don't know) how long it might take and if he could do anything about it. He said they couldn't do anything and it should 'only take 10 minutes'. He was so full of it he squeaked. The Construction crew were in the middle of using some huge truck to do some fairly delicate work. So I was paying a couple movers to sit around and do nothing while public storage blocked access. My wife called me and put me on speaker phone to ask the guy. I stifled my reaction (which was 'you guys can pay for my movers if you're going to run your facility so poorly) and instead asked 'have you notified me of construction'. The guy said 'well we put up notices'. Uh. That's great. I do not visit my public storage facility until I need something from it. A notice is worthless to me. He admitted that the notices, themselves, were vague, saying only that construction would be occurring, not times that I could look out for or anything like that. I then asked if there's any stipulation in my contract that said I wouldn't be able to access my stuff sometimes during normal business hours (and therefore, suck it up). He said he wasn't aware of anything. So long story short, public storage cost me 200 bucks in wasted time paying movers to sit around waiting on construction crews to get out of the way, didn't offer to reimburse or even try to talk to the construction guys on my wife's behalf. I was told to 'talk to customer service'. Screw customer service. What difference does that make to me in the middle of trying to get moved? My wife ended up taking our dog (who is a great ambassador) down to the construction crew and asked some innocent questions and mentioned that we were paying some guys, and because they're a bunch of nice guys, they immediately started getting out of the way. Even given that they were friendly and understanding, it still took 45 minutes for them to suspend what they were doing, move out of the way, and let us through. In conclusion, I know there's construction outfits out there who will work through the night. I know because I see them on the road at 3 or 4 am working on highways or in downtown when traffic would otherwise be disrupted. Public storage does have normal operating hours, and I have no idea why they wouldn't work around them for the sake of their customers. Based on the poor experience, convoluted access policy (for other reasons--they have a facility where it's possible to lock yourself *in* by accident if you forget their gate code or accidentally leave the card you wrote it down on in your car--plus there's a key, 2 codes, and your own lock just to get into your stuff--I think the guy who figured this system out works for prisons), only intermittent availability of staff, and the fact that, I swear to god, all my property smells like RAT PISS now, I' recommending that you dump your crap in a hole in the ground in the woods before you pay these people 1 cent. read more

I do not feel comfortable going to the unit anymore. Since Sept. I have been to my unit twice. In Sept. I noticed a noticable degradation in the cleanliness of the inside of the facility. I thought perhaps a cleaning company had been changed and this would not be a long term situation. I went yesterday to my unit and conditions were worse. A cart by the elevator had rotting food in a bag. When I went up to my unit there were random piles of trash in some aisles, a sleeping bag laid out in my aisle, and I did not feel comfortable looking for a cart. I have been very satisfied with this storage facility up to this point. I will be taking my stuff elsewhere if this isn't remedied by my next visit. I don't feel safe or comfortable in the facility the way it is now. read more

They were great. I am a first time user of a storage company. We took a couple red carpet tours other places and decided to use Public Storage. The guy that set us up answered all of my questions. He as helpful in offering additional information we might need with out pushing anything on us. We have found the hours great and have not had any problems. One of the older of their locations, but also a tried-and-true one having served my storage needs satisfactorily many times over the years. What you see is what you get, the facility is overdue for an update; the one elevator is old and slow to respond but in the probably close to ten years I've stored here I've only seen it out-of-service maybe twice, briefly; they do provide a few moving carts to use but they definitely are unruly at best and it would help to have a few more; and over the years their staff has ranged from extremely warm and accommodating to much more cut-and-dry and indifferent, but they've all been helpful and worked with me through various situations. My only true gripe would have to be the drastic reduction in access hours, from closing at 9pm down to 6pm and even 5pm on weekends! For years this was their cutting edge over other storage companies and made up for what was lacking and realistically worked for anyone with a job of standerd hours to actually utilize. read more

I have had a unit for almost a year, and it has actually been a decent experience. The parking lot almost always has enough room to park a full-size truck and trailer, and the managers have been great to deal with. The place is pretty clean and the location couldn't be much better.. It would be nice to have 24 hour access and parking space rentals. I will most likely continue to rent here for a while more.
