We traveled through Chicago's O'Hare Airport (May 2026), instead of the smaller Midway Airport. We like the White-Sox-themed restaurant at Midway. Here at O'hare, we visited The Cubs Bar & Grill. The restaurant is a chance to get a brew and a meal with an eyeful of Cubs memorabilia: Sports-Illustrated posters, jerseys, player-photos, pin-stripe-jersey tables and logo tables, and an easy-to-miss small display case of things you can purchase like beverage-glasses, shot-glasses, baseball-caps, tshirts, sweatshirts, mini-baseball-bats, and baseballs. We had a classic Heileman's Old Style lager, famous as part of Chicago nostalgia, and a really typical mild "old style" lager. And we tried a medium-bitter Fist City IPA, a bright crisp refreshing craft beer, brewed only in Chicago. We shared the $17.50 two-Chicago-dog combo, all-beef dogs loaded with all the classic toppings, and those iconic poppyseed buns. It came with hot lightly-crisped soft-inside fries. Authentic. Delicious. Perfect! You could also get a number of burgers, sandwiches, and other dishes, even breakfast at 6am! The only other nostalgic food that we noticed were good old Stanburgers with both American and cheddar cheese, regular burger toppings, and "secret sauce", like Stanley's used to serve at Wrigley Field. We were disappointed they didn't have a Chicago Italian Beef sandwich on the menu, but it seems that a restaurant needs to be really focussed on that to do it well, so maybe it's a good decision. I'm going to thank The Cubs Bar for that menu choice :-). We didn't see Mälort behind the bar, so no "Chicago Handshake" shot and a beer. If you've experienced that incredibly bitter herbal liqueur, you might agree that it's probably not recommended pre-flight. By working the authentic Chicago angle, we found good food and beverages at The Cubs Bar & Grill to round out the baseball nostalgia. We had view of the planes, too, which is always a plus at an airport restaurant. Staff was friendly and quick. A good experience at Terminal 3! read more

I never expect much from airport food. What I do expect is food being served at the right temperature. The flight was delayed almost 2 hours and now we weren't going to be home before midnight so we decided to grab something at the airport. This is a cute bar and grill located in terminal two and it's actually quite large as it has two bars and a very big sitting area. It was crowded and we were able to get two seats at the bar. We ordered a barbecue bacon cheeseburger and a Greek salad. The food took a little while, but we were in no hurry and there were TVs with the basketball game on so we were entertained. When the food finally came out, I grabbed one of the french fries and it was ice cold and the burger looked like it had been sitting for a while too. The Greek salad was just OK. Nothing special. It wasn't cold it was lukewarm so it had been sitting also. Cold beer, cold, wine, disgusting, overpriced, food set in a cute Chicago Cubs atmosphere. There's not much of a choice so this is it for a sit down restaurant. read more

I travel constantly. I don't need perfection. I do expect basic competence. I sat down and ordered a chicken Caesar salad and a water. The bartender acknowledged the order and then disappeared into whatever was apparently more important. Several minutes later, he returned and asked what I wanted to drink. Apparently, the water I'd already ordered didn't make a lasting impression. I then had to verify that my salad order had actually been entered because confidence was not exactly high at that point. Eventually, the salad arrived. No silverware. Now here's where the experience went from bad to ridiculous. Multiple staff members watched a customer sitting at the bar with a Caesar salad and no utensils. Nobody stopped. Nobody asked if I needed anything. Nobody brought silverware. I eventually started eating the salad with my hands because I was on a flight schedule and had been unable to get anyone's attention. Think about that for a second. A customer in an airport restaurant is eating a Caesar salad with his hands while employees walk past and do nothing. When it came time to leave, I had to hold my credit card out and actively flag someone down because I was concerned about making my flight. The food wasn't the problem. The problem was a complete lack of awareness, ownership, and service from start to finish. If your goal is to experience what happens when nobody in an operation feels responsible for the customer, this place delivers exactly as advertised. My coworker and I were in Chicago for a work conference and got to the airport early to grab a late lunch before our departure. We had done a food tour while in town, so I was craving something Chicagoey to eat. In our terminal, though, there were only fast food and chain restaurants. So weird not to have something Chicago-related like deep dish pizza, Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs, etc. Anything! I would have even taken a Pizzeria Uno. I asked a woman at the Information Desk and she pointed me to Cubs Bar & Grill. It's where I was headed before I stopped to ask, but I was hoping there was something I missed. We grabbed a high-top table in the bar area and were fairly quickly greeted. We ordered two beers to start. My Blue Moon didn't come with an orange; not the end of the world, but typically that's how you serve it, just like the lime my coworker got with his Corona. My coworker ordered the Chicago-style hot dog platter (the only thing that was even remotely Chicagoey on the menu). I was really craving an Italian beef sandwich, but since that wasn't available, I just ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich. When it came, it was actually HUGE. There were three large chicken tenders on it smothered in Buffalo sauce. So the food was pretty good overall. We never saw our server again during our entire meal. He didn't come to check on us, didn't ask if we wanted another drink (I could have used a water since my beer was gone and I was eating spicy food), or anything. After finishing eating and waiting around for quite awhile, we finally had to flag him down because we needed to get to our gates. Obviously I expected high prices being in the airport, but my Blue Moon was $13. And the sandwich was $20. I spent about $45 with tax and tip. Quite pricey and the service was not great. And I was still lamenting not having more Chicago options in the Chicago airport. read more

Came here during a layover to kill time and eat and it did the job. There is tonsss of seating and the TVs played sports and news which kept my friend and I occupied for a while. Sporty, American, chill environment which was comforting after a long Europe trip. Service was quick, no complaints. Food was pretty good although a little expensive. I got the Southwest Chipotle Burger which was big and filling, my friend got the quesadilla and said the same. Overall: good place to waste time during a layover, eat American food, and watch TV but be prepared to spend $20-25 per entree. read more

We stopped by Cubs in the airport after arriving early. Our server - Kaidence - was awesome. She was knowledgeable about the menu, offered suggestions based on our order and stopped by several times to make sure we had what we needed. Big smiles and friendly staff are a welcomed presence in an airport for sure, and she made the experience! The food was good. It's an airport, not Ruth's Chris, so our expectations weren't too high, but we were surprised and pleased. The burgers were cooked just right and fries were great. Best of all though was the service! Ask for Kaidence next time you stop by! Love the sports on TVs everywhere, the convenience and ambiance as well. Had the "the hawks" chicken wings, a goose Island beer, a soda (diet Pepsi) then another soda then another beer and also the wings came with fries. Service was sweet. The only negative thing I can say is it's cubs themed and they suck amirite lol. Also I was feasting alone which is kind of a loser move, it would have been way better if my sweet gorgeous wife was with me. But I wasn't entirely alone, there was a TV to keep me company.. The vibe was off the moment we walked into Cubs Bar & Grill at ORD. No greeting, no smile--just an overall unwelcoming energy. Our server rushed through taking our order like we were bothering her. Then only half of our order showed up. After waiting eight minutes, we flagged down a different server to ask about the missing food. She reminded us (rather coldly) that she wasn't our server but said she'd check. She did bring the rest out, but set it down without a single word and walked away. No eye contact, no acknowledgment. Just... dropped and left. Another eight minutes passed before yet another server approached and asked if we were okay--but then took it upon herself to review our food. She hovered her dirty finger millimeters above our plates and said, "I like the peppers." We were stunned. She moved her hand between both our plates, basically giving a tour of our meal--and then the unthinkable happened. A piece of food waste from her hand FELL INTO our food. We were speechless. Just looked at each other in disbelief. There was still ¾ of a burger and a hot dog and a half left, but we weren't eating that. It was in fact a piece of lemon pulp that fell from her hand. When it initially fell and we said something, she denied it. When I asked her if she was just cutting lemons, she recanted and said that she was. Even after that she said, "Do you want to just switch the plate?" That's when we looked at each other in disgust. Eventually, the food was taken away--no apology, no one came over. We sat there until finally someone told us the check was covered and we could leave. Just like that. As if that solved it. We asked to speak to a manager. Enter Rogoleo Flores, who had already comped our meal without ever coming to our table. When he finally showed up, he was completely dismissive and lacked even the basic decency to acknowledge the situation or apologize. We left hungry and beyond disappointed. This place is a total embarrassment to airport dining. If you're flying through ORD and thinking of grabbing a bite here--don't. You're better off with a pre-packaged sandwich from a vending machine. read more

Though it was far from the best I've had, it was so good it reminded me of what I miss from regular visits to Portillo's. And seriously, you can get these in the DC area! His patience with all of us and people just kept coming and while he continued to state last call was at 8, he kept smiling and serving the somewhat annoying passengers. Stopping in for a Chicago style hotdog! For an airport bar, the Cubs Grill offers a very large area offering dining and bar seating. Our server was very pleasant and efficient. We had the Chicago dog combo and without reading the detail, we were pleasantly disappointed surprised to see it came with two hotdogs and fries, and for the price point it was a deal! On the contrary, a single beer was as much as the entire plate of food! Highly recommend this stop for your Chicago hotdog fix when you can't get into the city. You might want to wait on the beer until you can find a more economical place to have one. This being a sports bar however, there are plenty of TVs with games, going around the clock, and it wouldn't be the same without a cold one! read more

Found the menu to be simple yet complex, not much to choose from for picky eaters. Hope you like eggs, oatmeal and fruit. We asked for just a side of toast which very energetic server guy said he would do but never did and never explained why. The other breakfast meal was an omelette which was very good. The mimosa and screwdrivers were strong. Took a long time to get our check but it got very busy very quickly. I am an SF Giants fan and feel a bit dirty eating here lol but everything was clean. However, since I was traveling with my mom and we hadn't had lunch that day, we decided to pop in for an early dinner (4 PM). Mom had the chicken quesadilla (monstrous!) and I had the Greek salad (also monstrous!). I completely cleaned my plate and Mom only had a couple of bites left. Waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. Also, this is a great restaurant/bar to people watch, not just the patrons within the semi-circular establishment, but the multitudes of unwashed masses passing by to get to their gate. Decided to stop by during my lengthy layover to get some food. The first thing I noticed was the prices. The ham and cheese omelette and potatoes was $20, which felt pretty steep, but the portion was hefty. The food also tasted pretty good with a little extra sprinkle of salt and pepper. The issues are with the service. They're not very busy at all, but as I'm writing this, I've been here about an hour. Was waiting for at least half an hour just for a refill, and I've been here another 10 minutes just sitting waiting to pay. I also ate my entire meal while a man in front of me hadn't gotten visited/greeted by the server a single time until now as I'm still waiting to pay. Will definitely be avoiding this place on future layovers. Especially if I'm strapped for time... As of posting this review, I have now been waiting almost 20 minutes just to pay. read more

On my way back from a New Year's Eve trip, we had an awkwardly timed layover at O'Hare and went looking for an early lunch. We agreed we wanted a heavier meal though none of us wanted to go running around this giant airport. We found the Cubs bar not too far from our gate and grabbed a seat. Despite several other customers eating as well, we were told that multiple menu items were not ready for the day. This must've included my boyfriend's soup because it didn't come out until he was done with the rest of his meal. It took several back and forths with our server to get roughly what we each ordered. I truly couldn't tell if it was lack of training or a language barrier with our server, but I do think he was trying. In any case, I was more distracted by the ridiculous behavior of what I assumed was the manager. She was throwing all sorts of tantrums, loudly talking down to her staff and complaining about the tv channels in a mostly empty restaurant. In between disrespecting her employees, she was sitting at a table next to us, openly snacking from the kitchen and watching tv. I've worked in some sh!tty restaurants over the years and this type of behavior would've been absolutely unacceptable in even the worst places I worked. I had half a mind to tell her off myself. I think this place needs to get their priorities straight. Your service staff can't figure out how to enter orders and help customers. I promise no one cares if the TVs are all on the same channel when the food isn't right and someone is screaming at staff through your whole meal. read more

As far as airport restaurants go, this one was pretty good. The food was a little overpriced (as is often the case in airports), but the service was very fast (which is nice, since I had limited time before my flight) and the food was hot. The portion size was also generous. I ordered a quesadilla, which wasn't anything too fancy, but was tasty - crispy exterior with plenty of gooey cheese inside. The chicken inside the quesadilla wasn't seasoned, but it was still good with the various sides and toppings that were provided. The restaurant is reminiscent of a sports bar, with sports-themed decor and games playing on the TVs. Overall, I got a quick, tasty, and filling meal while on a layover in the Chicago airport. read more

The ambience has the Cubs feel as the memorabilia is everywhere. The service from my server Chanter was fast and she was taking care of lots of customers. I ordered and my water with lemon no ice. And my Stan Burger with Swiss cheese and the special stan sauce was really amazing. The food was really good it was clear there were many happy eating customers. Stopped in recently, they have a reasonably broad menu. Decided to go with the pair of Chicago-topped hot dogs. (I'm from the Midwest, but wasn't familiar with Chicago-style toppings: 'White onion, bright green sweet pickle relish, tomato, dill pickle spear, sport peppers, yellow mustard & celery salt'.) All in all, really good (though the sport peppers were spicy enough to ring a few alarms, they're on a par with pepperoncinis.) As a bonus, the fries were, as advertised, 'perfectly crisp [and] golden' and sufficiently salted for my taste. Service is perfunctory but efficient.
