My mom and I came here around Christmas for breakfast and loved it! The chilaquiles were not spicy thankfully and I happily enjoyed its unique flavor and bright green color. I also tried the carajillo and loved the presentation with the cube of brown sugar as well as the pretty layers. Came for lunch on a Tuesday so there was lots of street parking less than a block away and my friend got a spot right in front. Everyone was super friendly and the staff on top of it. We got a couple of mocktails to begin with and they were delicious (the one wit condensed milk was wow). However this drink small so be warned if you are super thirsty, you are going to need several. I like a little beverage to sip on here and there in between saltier bites so it was the perfect amount for me. My friend got the omelet and I got the picadillo. I can't tell if she didn't like the omelet or not because she didn't eat a lot of it (the woes of eating with a friend on a GLP-1) but she said it was good. My picadillo was huge. Cute little spot with a small menu. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice cold front and the server greeted us immediately and answered all of our questions. The menu is small but definitely has some Mexican classics. The cafe was the olla was good The picada Grande I enjoyed the chorizo salsa it reminded me the way my grandma makes it. Enchiladas - shredded chicken, corn tortillas, poblano sauce and cheese. This was so good. I do not like corn tortillas usually but these were good. Tender. The chicken was so tasty and the poblano sauce was creamy and paired perfectly. Grandma beans - I do not eat beans normally but abuela got it right. The beans were creamy and melted in my mouth. Vanilla ice cream - omg, heaven - I wasn't sure what to expect but it was the perfect amount of ice cream , caramel topping and the crunch of the palmier. My plate with the omelette was OK nothing special just cheese and ham it originally came with mushrooms, but I decided not to do the mushrooms. Throughly impressed with my visit to Cucharita! Parking is a little sparse here on this street, but the small inconvenience is not much to worry about. The atmosphere is so on point for what I'm looking for when trying out authentic Mexican restaurants, its true to the heritage, but modern enough to be welcoming to new comers. Love the bright colors and throwback knickknacks that remind me of the panaderias i grew up going to. Service was flawless on my visit here. Our waitress was the definition of polite and knowledgeable. She gave clear and concise summary of the menu and coffees. Plenty of detail on answers toquestions we asked. Witty enough to banter with. This level of care is what usually puts a restaurant into the 5 Star range for me. Food was excellently and carefully prepared and presented. There is thought put into the plating and crafting of the dish. Some heavier dishes like Chilaquiles and some lighter options like tacos round out a good selection of breakfast choices. Coffees were excellent and came with a bit of flair if you order the Lechero. The pan dulces are on the pricey side at $8 a pop but I wasn't really thinking about price after trying a few of them. My usual brunch spot is closed on Tuesdays, so I decided to try something new. This place looked promising. They have a huge parking lot, which I thought was awesome! With plenty of parking. There were 3 cars parked in the lot. As soon as I parked and got my daughter out of the car, the parking attendant told me I couldn't park there unless I paid a $10 parking fee. I asked where the restaurant's customer parking was, and he said I'd need to park on the street or pay $10 to park in their own restaurant lot just to eat there. That was an instant dealbreaker. I left right then. They didn't just lose one customer over $10 .....they lost a potential loyal, long-term one. I don't support businesses that prioritize greed over hospitality. read more

My mom had heard about this place and it was her birthday brunch so I decided to treat her to it. As soon as we walked in you can see the bread (smells and looks so delicious). Very nice host and waiters along with very good service and happy workers! We got a couple of things and they were all so good! This is a Mexican themed restaurant so they gave us the blue Mexican tazas (mugs) with water but also their coffee is amazing! And the pan Dulce (sweet bread) was so good. The pastries and coffee are the best part of the restaurant. I try not to go during the weekend because the wait is crazy at times. As others mentioned, parking is awful and on the weekend there are only 2 spots available, one being a handicap spot. The place itself is super cute and well decorated. Although there are several employees that are super kind and helpful, there are a few too many that are rude and standoffish. Every single time we've gone we have had encounters with one or two rude ones. No need for unpleasantries during brunch. Also this place is NOTTTTT kid friendly. The parking situation is what you can expect in Montrose, not great. We got lucky that it was a week day and they weren't busy so we found parking quickly and were able to choose where we sat. The waitress was nice enough and she answered our questions about the menu. The restaurant is very cute inside, their decor is seasonal and currently they're decorated for Día De Los Muertos with paper cempasúchil flowers hung from the ceiling and fresh ones on each table. Very pretty! They have an assortment of, what I assume is fresh pan dulce every day at the counter and they also sell artesanías which I believe the owner brings back from Cdmx. Overall the vibe of the restaurant is super cute. The downside of the restaurant is by far the food. I ordered their chilaquiles of the week, which were creamy jalapeño this week. The sauce was just okay it was more spicy than it was flavorful, I'm sure it's made fresh but it honestly tasted like it was store bought sauce. I love chilaquiles but these were definitely a disappointment. My friend ordered their poblano enchiladas and they had a decent flavor but she ended up asking for a side of the creamy jalapeño sauce from my chilaquiles to give them a kick. They will be taken so you'll have to find parking in the neighborhood. The place is pretty busy and the wait is long. We were told the wait was 1.5 hours. But since we said call us with next available table we got called a little earlier than said. I can't judge the meals as I came for the sweet bread. They were very delish! I totally recommend. Came to this place after eating at Cuchara. We were gonna get dessert there, but just remembered that they opened a bakery just down the road. After a short walk under the blazing heat, we finally make it to the bakery. The place was packed and there was a wait so we decided to get to go. As you walk in you immediately notice the cute decor. The pastries are displayed by the cashier and they all looked beautiful. My wife and I decided to share a pastry that had raspberry crème filling. As we were walking out, we noticed that they also serve food - probably explains the wait.
