Bread service is a must - whipped ricotta, roasted garlic in olive oil and Italian hummus
Ivanka B.

Sat at the bar since no reservations and also love peppering and annoying the staff with our questions about what is coming out of the kitchen! They were entertained (I hope) by our presence. I ate so much bread and the accompaniments that I didn't think I could handle the pasta but "where there is a will there is a way" and I persevered. That porcini mezzaluna was DIVINE. Even hubs who doesn't care for ricotta was in my plate the whole time. Don't skip on the dessert - we enjoyed tiramisu and that decadent Italian flourless chocolate cake back at our place. Great addition to the already amazing Mystic food scene.

Gorgeous interior with a warm inviting vibe. Service was very skilled and helpful, and super engaging. We tried the porcini mezza Luna and the rigatoni with pork shoulder. Don't skip the sourdough bread either! Excellent experience will return very soon.

Beautiful restaurant for food and drinks. The espresso martini was a must try, one of the best I've had in CT. The service was stellar even on a busy day like Valentine's Day. They did their best to accommodate us despite running late which was really appreciated. The pastas were our favorite part of the meal. Huge portions of lobster in our seafood pasta. Would definitely recommend for an intimate evening.

Lovely restaurant experience. We arrived close to closing but did not feel rushed to get through our dinner. Nice, clean and relaxing ambiance. Food was delicious. Recommend the bread platter to start. We enjoyed our meals and the creative cannolis for dessert. Excellent cocktail-Verona.

Great Italian restaurant featuring wine, cheese and salami, and pasta dishes. The focaccia bread is a must have - served with 3 sides, chick pea, roasted garlic in evoo and ricotta. For appetizer we chose the calamari fra diavola which comes in a casserole dish - seasoned with Calabrian peppers. My main was the gnocchi served with prosciutto and spring peas. All pasta is homemade. Very yummy. Conveniently located in downtown Mystic. Great views of Main Street. Service is impeccable.

I have to say everything that we had here was great. However for the price I think there are better places. I think we walked out with a 250 dollar bill after an appetizer, two entrées, some wine and a dessert. I still think the experience was worth it but there are so many other wonderful restaurants in the area and around town. However, I think the one thing I really loved/life changing was the espresso and ice cream together. I might just go in and have that at the bar on a random Saturday.

The food here was amazing!! My wife and I had such a great experience here. The food was properly portioned, delicious and the appetizer and meals were well spaced out. They have a large selection of wine and beverages. Our server was very attentive, kind and funny. He helped give us recommendations and helped make our night special. The ambiance was nice, dimly light, and very nice decor during the Christmas season. You pay for what you get here, very good quality! Perfect place for a fancy Italian date!

We stopped in on a Saturday night with no reservation. The manager was able to seat us at a high top table in the bar. I couldn't wait to try the expresso martini. It was advertised as the best ever! It definitely was made well! No baileys, real expresso and a rich froth on top. We sampled the charcuterie board. It was a nice array of meats & cheeses. I personally could do without the Mortadella and would prefer Sopressata or salami but a choice wasn't given. For dinner we shared the chicken cutlet topped with crispy prosciutto with an arugula salad. I loved it! Excellent dinner and service.

Popped in for happy hour to kill some time before a meeting and wasn't disappointed! The restaurant is beautiful with good sized cocktails and tasty food. My husband said the oysters were some of the best he's ever had. Looking forward to returning in the future for an actual meal because everything smelled absolutely amazing!

The oysters were delicious, grilled peach mignonette was phenomenal. My husband had a Negroni and loved it. I order the double espresso martini & was a big fan! It was a tad sweet but still awesome. Our bartender was incredibly kind. Loved the vibe of the place. Can be casual but you can definitely dress up for a nice dinner too. Hope to come back!

Cocktails

This place was amazing. We got the Caesar, pappardelle, and rigatoni, all of which were amazing. The espresso martinis were some of the best I've ever had along with another cocktail I got

Espresso Martini (and you can decaf, too!)

Such a lovely lovely place, with equally as lovely people working there! From seating to service, everyone was so helpful and kind. The ambiance is a 10/10 and when they say the best espresso martini around, they're NOT joking! Can't wait to come back :)

Ordering was very easy online, even though the prices seemed a bit high. We ordered $109 worth of food...Arancini ($16), garlic bread with cheese($16), Penne al Vodka with sautéed chicken($32), and the Alfredo with chicken cutlet($38). I was expecting a lot for prices like these. The Arancini were 5 pieces the size of golf balls and the flavor was ok, not worth $16, out garlic bread with cheese ($16) was left out of our order, the penne vodka with sautéed chicken ($32) was dry and there were 5 small pieces of chicken, and the baked penne chicken Alfredo had broken sauce, full of grease and almost inedible...I threw out most of it. I expected so much more from this establishment. The parking lot was packed and parking just to get takeout was challenging, but the food and prices were amazingly disappointing. We may try their pizza to see if that is any better, but I would not recommend the pasta dishes. I can see charging g prices like that if the pasta was homemade, but even that is a stretch. 3 stars is generous

We were seated at a lovely table for two overlooking Main Street - watching people stroll by from that elevated perch behind glass felt almost cinematic. The real star of the show was the food, which is ultimately what you're there for, and it delivered. The menu offers plenty of options without being overwhelming. I started with the Crispy Pig's Head as an appetizer - a bold choice that turned out to be outstanding. For my entrée, the bucatini with seacoast mushrooms, sherry, parmesan, mushroom cream, and fine herbs was perfectly cooked, and carried a subtle but deeply flavorful sauce. And the housemade sourdough with poblano honey butter? Absolutely outstanding. To be fair, our server took a little time to warm up but found their footing and gave us everything we needed. Parking in Mystic on a busy weekend night can also be a challenge and expensive. Neither is reason enough to skip this one. Ship Wright's Daughter is exactly the kind of restaurant Mystic deserves. The regular menu looked creative and appetizing as well. I had their daily oyster ($1.50 each), mussels ($10), and their cutie smash burger ($9). The oysters were from sixpenny on the day I attended. They were fresh and went down smoothly. The mignonette that was served with it was interesting. It seemed to have some sort of orange juice incorporated, but who knows. It was not bad. I preferred the cocktail sauce and horseradish provided. The mussels came in a coconut lemongrass broth with chili, cilantro, and lime. These were some of the freshest mussels I had in a while. It was noticeable to me from the feel and taste. The coconut lemongrass broth was a nice compliment and very flavorful. The burger was a quarter pound smash patty with cheddar cheese, umami mayo, lettuce, pickles, and white onion. This was cooked ideally to a medium-medium rare temperature. The bread was the key as it held the toppings and was of good ratio. The pickle was nicely folded and placed where it was not hanging off the burger. It was a little sweet, but not a big deal. Will I go back? Definitely.

Since this place had a tie in with the movie Mystic Pizza, they had the movie running in the place which was really nice. However, I never saw the movie and neither of my group did either. Just to be fair in this review, My group had already had been seated and ordered by the time I came in. Parking is a bear. I found the atmosphere very comforting with families having a great time talking and enjoying meals. Their was a line for people to get in which is always a good sign. My table had ordered pizza, wings, drinks. Since I came late I ordered a Salad and a bowl of clam chowder. When the pizza came it was a good size pizza one was a meat lovers and the other was pepperoni. By the time I got my order they had almost killed the first pizza and the meat lovers was going down for the count. I was able to get two slices but I had to hit it quick. The pizza was a work of art. Rich thick flavor sauce that you can tell was freshly made with home ingredients that made me think they actually pick up the vegetables that very second to make this fresh hot pizza. The bite on the slice was juicy but not oily like some pizza. My only negative was that I could not get another slice to save my life. My salad was a Caesar Salad that was so big. I shared it with my wife and sister in law. They enjoyed it. that bowl it came it was almost as big as the table. We were having an issue because the pizza's and the other dishes we had ordered made space on the table very limited. My star of my meal was the Clam Chowder. OMG. This one was the best Chowder I have ever had outside of Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco. Rich and thick. Spot on. I only wish they served it in a bread bowl like on the docks in Frisco. I am a fan. Who ever make this I was taken away 10/10/ Summary. my family enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent and friendly. Recommended Yes Yes Yes. I live in Maryland and I would drive 6 more hours to have this again. Cheers!!

S & P Oyster Restaurant and Bar is a very charming and picturesque restaurant sitting on the Mystic River with indoor and outdoor seating, and photographic views of the Mystic River. Each employee is very attentive to your needs, and everyone works together as a team to assure each patron is getting quality service and a great experience. We were greeted at the entrance by the Hostess and promptly shown to a table overlooking the Mystic River. Next we were greeted by Evelina our server. She handed us menus and the daily specials and took our drink order. Upon her return to our table she went over the daily specials asked if we had any questions and if we knew what we wanted or if we needed more time. We both ordered unsweetened ice teas as we had a 2 hour drive back home. My wife and I both enjoyed a delicious bowl of New England Clam Chowder. It was creamy, rich and chock full of clams and not that pasty style you get in so many places. I ordered 6 oysters on the half shell along with 6 littlenecks on the half shell. They were very fresh, plump, juicy and tasted like the sea. I can live off these 2 mollusks. My wife ordered a Harvest Grain Bowl. It was loaded with crispy Brussel sprouts, butternut squash, roasted chickpeas, red onions, heirloom carrots, arugula, dried cranberries, toasted almonds, farro, with an apple cider vinaigrette. She loved it!!! Me being a seafood nut ordered Seafood Ambrosia. YUM, YUM & YUM!!!. It was a combination of cod, shrimp, scallops, crab, and seafood stuffing baked it an individual cast iron frying pan. It was buttery, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. It came with a side Mystic Salad that included artisan greens, radicchio, carrots, red onion, cucumbers, celery, and a honey balsamic vinaigrette. I recommend making a reservation for both lunch and dinner as they are one of the hottest restaurants in Mystic (especially during warmer months). Went here with my family this year on the Tuesday after Mother's Day and I had hyped the place up based on my wonderful experience last year. I was thoroughly disappointed with the menu selections and the food. The waiter told me they change out their menu from time to time. I sure wish they hadn't because the lump crab dip was delicious but the replacement was spinach and artichoke dip. The artichokes were not blended they were chunks and it was not in a creamy sauce but dry with shredded Parmesan cheese over the top. It was awful. I didn't even eat it. I also ordered the crab cake which wasn't good. Last time I had the crab cake, it was made with chuncks of crabmeat. This time it was shredded crabmeat and a lot of breadcrumbs. My son's girlfriend and my husband both ordered mussels and they each said they were okay. My husband also ordered what we call a crab imperial dish containing different kinds of shellfish, bread crumbs, cream sauce and cheese. Our son ordered a crispy fried chicken sandwich and he said it was delicious. I tried it and it was so good. The chicken was fried light and with tasty Chilean sauce on it.
