    Menu - Sushi

What a pleasant surprise to finally find Kimbap (and so much more) close enough to run out for pickup during weekday work lunch. The kimbap options are 50/50 vegetarian & meat/seafood with options for a variety of tastes and dietary requirements. Clean, friendly and quick service. Now I'm tempted to try everything on the menu as a weekly treat

Deep fried chicken and veggie potstickers

I enjoy hole in the wall cafes like this Came here since the reviews were good and we wanted to try something new. Place is tucked away in a plaza with a big sign advertising lawyers and other specialists. Place looks like a small house, with a few seats inside. You order at the counter, menus are on full display and lots of options are available. The place is a mom and pop operation, with the lady making the helm while the guy does the cooking. The food is awesome, well done and cooked properly. For negatives, the potstickers were deef fried rather than pan fried. That and the Korean fried chicken wasn't tempura battered and seemed frozen. The flavors were solid and well done. The spicy Kani salad and the special roll had a good spice kick to them. The flavors were pronounced and not overwhelming. Everything was done well and tasted awesome. I will be back again, and if you're in the area this is a very valid option to choose

    BT Curry Rice

As a Korean, I am very picky with Korean foods. This place was good and had great flavors and most importantly, great quality. I had the privilege of having the BT Curry Rice and what I liked about this menu was tasting different proteins (pork katsu, shrimp tempuras, and a sausage). Curry had great flavor as well. I would give 5 stars but the location seems to be out of place. I wish this place was more known to others who live near Vernon area. Overall, very satisfied and will be back!

So good- the food at this place is delicious and top notch! The owners are so sweet and always spot on with pick up times. We love getting the Loco moco and the spicy Korean BBQ sandwich. If you want some awesome food, definitely stop in!

Chicken Cutlet Curry Rice & Dynamite roll

The owners were sweet. Food was great! I was surprised by how much sushi they gave us. Usually, I only get 6 pieces at other places. Definitely get the dynamite roll if you're feeling spicy !

This spot hidden in the cut behind the beat and path is gotta be this town's hidden gem!! I got the curry chicken topped with a fried egg was my first having this combo and can't wait for my next experience here. Full of flavor in every bite. The roll is called out of control & it is!!

What an excellent find. It's a small cafe with limited menu however what is offered is done very well. We arrived early so we were the only ones there. The owner was friendly and guide us as we explored the menu. We had the chicken ramen (option of mild or spicy; choose the spicy, of course) and beef loco moco and bubble tea (mango and coffee flavors). The ramen was big, rich broth, fresh vegetables, and right noodle consistency and overall balanced. My son enjoyed the loco moco and was obsessed with the sauce (gravy) and devoured the whole thing. The only somewhat complaint was that the mango bubble tea didn't taste of mango but more of vanilla. Other than that the whole experience was wonderful. This is a very small cafe, and a little hard to find. Parking is available in the back but there was a big sign to guide you. It is BYOB if you are coming for dinner. My son kept on mentioning that it was like you went to someone's house and had a great meal. Again, what a great find and will be returning to try on the rest of the menu.

Consistently excellent and fresh. Spring for the Fantasy Platter. You'll be glad you did.

I moved to Vernon 2 years ago and little did I know there was this gem hidden in the corner! The food brings me back to Hawaii along with a deli section. I had the the BT rice curry. everything was delicious !! The chicken katsu was not super dry, the shrimp tempura was beautifully placed. I will be back to try out their boba and Loco Moco !! I will be back very often.

    Tradition beef Loco Moco
    Elizabeth H.

Absolutely delicious! I never thought I would find loco moco on the mainland, never mind in Eastern Connecticut! Everything my husband and I ordered was so good. I got the traditional beef loco moco, and my husband got the Boston curry with chicken. I enjoyed the loco moco so much, I forgot to give my husband a taste! We also got some sushi, which was also really good. We are definitely coming back to this place!

I'm back! When it comes to Japanese food, this is a favorite of mine. It has a very "family" feel…read moreto it. For my first drink? I'm having a French Martini made with Grey Goose vodka, Chambord and a splash of pineapple juice. The main menu has not changed here in years. The prices have gone up a bit but only slightly, so it's good if you're on a budget too. This is good! They don't garnish here. They do use medium sized martini glasses (not the small ones). For my first item, I'm having the House Green Salad. This is made with iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes. I LOVE their ginger dressing! I like the soothing music here. This salad is awesome! For my next item, I'm having a miso soup. This is the lowest price I've ever seen ($2.50). It is a soybean soup made with tofu, scallions and seaweed. Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup made from a dashi stock mixed with miso paste, a fermented soybean paste, giving it a savory, umami flavor. Key ingredients often include tofu, seaweed (wakame), and scallions, but it can be customized with mushrooms, clams, or other additions. It's served hot, typically as part of a traditional Japanese meal, and should not be boiled after adding the miso to preserve its flavor and nutrients. I get the "big" bowl. This is hot and steamy. It is delicious! For my next item, I'm having the Seaweed Salad. Japanese seaweed salad (often called wakame salad) is a vibrant, refreshing, and umami-packed dish. It is made by rehydrating dried seaweed, tossing it with a vinaigrette made of sesame oil, soy sauce, and rice vinegar, and garnishing it with sesame seeds. I love this stiff although it sticks to your teeth sometimes. It is quite chilled. For my next item, I'm having edamame. These are a superfood. Boiled soybeans with salt! Edamame is a Japanese dish of young soybeans, typically boiled or steamed in the pod and served as a snack or appetizer, often with salt. It can also be prepared shelled (mukimame) and seasoned in various ways, such as with garlic, soy sauce, chili, or sesame oil, and served warm or cold in salads. The beans are known for being a protein-rich, healthy, and versatile ingredient. For my next drink, I am having a Strawberry Martini made with Svensk Wild Strawberry vodka, sweet vermouth and a splash of strawberry liqueur. Oh wow! This is good! Yes, you can taste the alcohol here! These edamame are good! No shortage of salt here either! For my next food item, I'm having the Tuna Tataki (extra spicy) made with thinly sliced seared tuna served with ponzu sauce. Tuna tataki is a Japanese culinary method where a block of sushi-grade tuna is briefly seared on all sides, leaving the interior raw. It is sliced thinly, served with a citrus-soy (ponzu) sauce, and often garnished with green onions, sesame seeds, and grated ginger. Wow! Extra spicy it is! I've never seen so many fresh jalapeños in one of these dishes! The sauce was REALLY spicy! This is great! For my next item, I'm having the Ikura (A La Carte menu). Ikura is the Japanese term for cured salmon roe (fish eggs). Prized for its vibrant orange color and signature "pop," the individual eggs are typically marinated in a soy sauce, sake, and mirin brine. It is most commonly served atop vinegared rice wrapped in a strip of nori seaweed (known as gunkan maki) or over a bowl of rice (ikura don). This is a taste of the ocean! Cucumber, no rice. It's a must when coming here! The wasabi is wicked strong! It was just made today! I love this! On my! Out comes something I've never seen before! What in the world is this! It looks like spicy tuna on Doritos!? This is great! OMG! ANOTHER bowl of miso soup has showed up! Yikes! They know I'm addicted to this! For my next drink, I am having g a Watermelon Martinj made with Bacardi Light Malibu Coconut, pineapple juice and a splash of mango schnapps. Oh yeah! This is good! Strong too! OMG! I think a Samurai Salad had showed up! So what is the Samurai Salad Recipe & Ingredients? The traditional Samurai Salad is a protein-rich, meal-sized dish. The Base: Mixed salad greens, green onions, and fresh tomato slices. The Protein: Firm slices of tofu brushed with oil and dressing, then grilled or pan-fried until golden brown. The Dressing: A zesty blend of soy sauce, white wine vinegar, grated fresh ginger, and hot pepper seasoning. Wow! This is the best salad I've EVER had! That's a great entree. It's " off menu" too do you need to ask for it. For dessert, I'm having the Fried Crispy Banana. Yeah, right. Let's see what REALLY comes out! OMG! This is IMPOSSIBLE to finish! Look at this monster! Oh no. What is that yellow drink? Don't ask me. I have no idea. It had a nice taste I can't identify. My sister is ordering the Chicken with lemongrass to go. This place is the bomb!

Where do I start?! One thing I love about J Rego's is the quality of their menu; meals are always unique and truly make J Rego's stand FAR apart from other food spots in this part of CT. Yes, they offer the very best of your favorite restaurant classics, but they also add high-end, high-quality options that you cannot find anywhere else in the area. They do weekly specials (check their Instagram or call!) that always blow my mind. I literally stalk their social media each week waiting for their new options! Having J Rego's so close to home is a hazard for my self control!! And the Espresso Martinis?! Don't get me started! Delicious, high-class, and absolutely addicting. One VERY notable details about J Rego's: -- They have a FANTASTIC outdoor dining area. We enjoy it frequently in the summer, and they also set up a tent & space heaters for the colder months. Check their IG for live music on the weekends! Today, I sent my parents to J Rego's for a lunch date. They were BLOWN AWAY! It was definitely a home run recommendation. Tried again, great service but okay food…read more Decided to try them again. They had a brunch menu so I was intrigued to try some French toast. Was very quiet when I went there. Was seated at the bar, where the bartender was prepping for the days service. Asked for his recommendation and he said the burger was really good. Asked for a brunch menu and was told the brunch menu was their lunch menu. Later in the meal, the waitress informed the bartender that the brunch menu was delayed again because the person who developed it was out. So I was too early to get actual brunch. I got an orange juice and a burger with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and pepper jack cheese. Food came out in a reasonable timeframe. Took pics and dug in. As a burger, it was okay but wasn't executed correctly. The burger was a chunky grind of beef chuck, which was unseasoned. The bun was toasted but was just starting to go stale. So the edges were spongy and a tougher chew. The fries were lackluster. Standard bagged fries, limp and not very crispy. Their orange juice is also weirdly out of a can. The price of the burger with add ons and an orange juice was 24 dollars . I'm fine with this price so long as the quality can justify it. But it's missing the execution to justify the price. Everything needs to be dressed or seasoned even if it's just lightly. A tiny bit of salt to a tomato can make the difference between a watery slippery mess to a fruity, savory compliment to the meaty burger. I would also be remiss to ask if they could vary the grind of their meat to a mix of chuck, short rib, and brisket? Or add flavorings to their meat mix to help get more than just straight up ground beef. The bartender was very good about checking in and helping where he could. He saved the experience, but there was little he could do to fix the meal. It's probably a great place to drink, and if you're drunk you won't care about the food as much. So I'll say it's a great bar but not so great food. Go to drink, not to eat
