Very popular restaurant in the heart of Scottsdale. If there's a wait I recommend walking around the back of the building and checking out the Arizona Canal. On a busy Saturday lunch it took about 45 minutes to get a table. The food itself was amazing, I got the buttermilk biscuit with fried chicken. The pretzel bite and cheese dip is an amazing appetizer (I get it every time I go). For my entree I got the banana bread French toast. I was nervous about the portion at first but it ended up being perfect for me- especially after eating too many pretzels. This is a very sweet dish. The French toast was smothered in Carmel sauce, that was a little bit too sweet for me. The Chantilly cream was delicious but didn't help with the overall sweetness. This is nit-picky but I would've preferred more fresh bananas on top. My dad got the breakfast burrito (with sauce on the side). It was good but not amazing. The outside was quite hard to bite into, not sure if this was on purpose or not. Overall, I love culinary dropout for dinner, but maybe pass on brunch. read more

Visited Scottsdale a few weeks ago for the first time to celebrate my birthday, Culinary Dropout was our first stop straight from the spot. It was highly recommended by a few friends so our crew had to check it out. Love the relaxed vibe of the place , feels like I am at home. Bob Marley mural, extra bonus! As someone from the Caribbean who loves reggae, he is one of my favorite artist. Extensive menu with lots of options for everyone. Smokehouse hash was tasty but wish there was more protein, my friend enjoyed her south bowl - nice light , my wife enjoyed the fried chicken entree but wished the chicken had a little more flavor. I was really excited to check out this spot as it's a place that you hear locals rave about regularly. When I got here I could say that the visit didn't disappoint but it didn't knock my socks off either! We made reservations for a party of 5 for my best friend's birthday. When we needed to push the reservation back the staff was super flexible and welcomed us with open arms. The first thing that stood out to me was the ambiance. This place was an entire vibe. The dinning room was filled with music and sections of folks engaged vigorously in conversation. We quickly found a place to sit and our server came over quickly to help us out. They went above and beyond to provide recommendations. Sharing some of the highlights of what they're most known for (i.e. pretzels). One of th p was e first things I noticed was how incredibly limited the vegan options were ! It was one vegan option available, the vegan curry. There was also an opportunity to make additional items salad/nachos vegan by removing ingredients. Which is rather pricey considering the text that they would be removing mostly all or the ingredients. In short, i would love to see more vegan options. If you can't do that more inclusivity would be appreciated generally. For example, couldn't try bbq sauce because it was supposedly mad with pork fat. Our server David was incredible! He went above and beyond and left us with a remarkable experience that I could simple never forget. Each of us felt embraced and supported by this care he exhibited while we were there. Came here over the weekend as a group of six while visiting Arizona. We chose this place because of the reasonable prices and diverse menu, and it did not disappoint! The waiter was extremely nice, and the food was pretty solid overall. The Brussels sprouts could have been cooked a little longer--they were a bit crunchy but had great flavor. My short ribs were definitely overcooked and crispy/chewy on the outside when they shouldn't have been, but again, the flavor was still great! I'd definitely come back, but I wish they didn't turn the lights down so much--it was so dark that I could barely see anything! Because of that, I accidentally left a card I had received that night at the table since I didn't even notice it when we left. First, we waited 20 minutes to be seated after having a reservation. Secondly, when we finally did order, two of the meals came out for our party of nine. 20 minutes later, the rest of us were served. The chicken wings were almost raw, the chop salads were terrible, and finally, we were seated outside on one of the coldest nights in February and the heaters on both ends of our table pooped out! We finished our disappointing night in the cold until two kids feverishly worked to try and install new propane tanks. We had a great waitress, props to the two kids for trying to save the night, and the manager came out and apologized, but the damage was done and the tiny little refund they gave us was not enough to make me want to return. read more

I wish I would've taken pictures but we had the Brussel sprouts, burger with a side salad and lemon poppy dressing and pretzel appetizer. They were all delicious. I had a couple of bites and thought it was very tasty. I really liked the buttermilk ranch on my salad. I got the happy hour cheap salad. The bowl was really small. Non happy hour price, is double the happy hour price. IF, the bowl is the same size outside of happy hour, I would not order. That size I got, is not worth the non happy hour price. ( Side note:) I really disliked swatting the gnats away from my food and wine, my entire meal. The atmosphere was hip and young. The music was not too loud, that was a huge plus.
