Visited Asheville for the weekend and made a reservation at cultura after it was recommended to me and I'm so glad I did! Some of the best cocktails and food I've had in years. I started with the feral friends + vodka option, incredible! For food, we opted for the a la carte menu so we could pick and choose a few different dishes - I think we ordered 5 to split between the two of us and were stuffed at the end of the evening. All were exceptional and I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you order. The creativity and effort that goes into each dish is astounding. It took close to 2 hours to complete the meal with long gaps in between courses. My husband and I also chose the wine pairing to compliment the courses. I can't recommend this place enough. Service, ambiance and food all hit very high. We had the a la carte menu for dinner and had a very enjoyable experience. We did not go for the full tasting menu due to dietary restrictions, but most if not all dishes looked fairly well presented and well enjoyed around us. If still on the menu, I would not recommend the mushroom dish. Outside of this, the meal was amazing. The restaurant did offer to make it up with a dessert of our choosing. Celebrated my birthday dinner here while visiting Asheville for the weekend. The service, cocktails, and overall food of the restaurant were nice. Walking in, the greenery and ambiance of the restaurant is impressive. After we sat, the waitress explained to our table that the menu is tapa style so between the 4 os us we split 6 different items. My favorites were the red snapper and blue fin tuna dishes. I was hoping the soft shell crab would be fried but instead it came in a croissant and had too much celery which I thought gave it a weird taste. Also the pork belly wasn't as crispy as I usually like it. For dessert, we shared the rhubarb pie which was delicious. Overall, I had a memorable birthday dinner and enjoyed Cultura. read more

Driving eight hours from Memphis TN to get to good food and good service. After booking a reservation at Cultura and my wife looking at the menu, she was ready for what we were about to get taste buds into. (I don't look at the menu ahead of time. I trust what my wife says.) Starting off with 50% off bottles of wine, I could not resist ordering a bottle from France. It was under the Rose group. To me, it was on the edge of not being a rose. I loved it, though. My wife, not so much. Our meals consisted of l: Boar Belly, my favorite out of the whole experience. Highly recommend ad your last portion. Pretzel bread, which was complimentary. Yummmmmmm. Ahi Tuna, with the charred guacamole and crispy rice. Yesssssss. The salted egg was the least of my favorite out of all these. However, it was all very good. We enjoy good food. Willy Wonka meets Asheville. Cultura is whimsical in the best way. Created from the founders of Wicked Weed, Cultura brings weird spins on classic favorites. Their restaurant is filled with fun artwork, neon paints, and interesting seating options (wine barrels). One of the best cocktails I've ever had came from their fall menu and consisted of homemade apple bitters, whiskey and a dried apple crisp. I've tried so hard to remake this and fail everytime. For food, we got their octopus appetizer which was perfectly tender and we split their crab fried rice and fried chicken. These are massive portions and perfect for the table to split. We finished the meal with CBD cotton Candy (on the house given to all customers) which was a perfect end to the most unique meal I've ever had! We didn't eat a heavy meal, but we had halibut poached in butter, prawns with corn and beans (a rich lovely preparation, not your typical fare), 2 of the lions mane mushroom small plates.... And an amazing dessert of corn meal "cake" (a little dry), with fresh strawberries and lime ice cream (wow).... Server was ok at beginning but he slowed - thankfully, one of the helper/ servers picked up the dessert order, clear the table, and had him bring the check timely. Wow! Stunner of a restaurant! The cocktails are wildly good. The food comes from a culinary wonderland. The entire roast duck was a feast for the eyes and the belly. I mean, if it seems intimidating, it's very much worth it. You very much need this dish at your table, and by all means, take the leftovers and cook it down to make a delicious soup. Thoroughly enjoy the food at Cultura every time I've been. This last time was a special Cease and Desist dinner, which is where they take a spin on classic chain restaurants. This month they presented Outback Grahamhouse, in partnership with chef Graham House. It was an astounding meal, first course was the classic brown bread and whipped butter, second course was the famous blooming onion and a foraged salad, I wish I'd remembered to take a picture of the main course!!! The rib eye and potato were unbelievable and cooked perfectly. Dessert was a lovely Lamington cake. Every month they present a different restaurant for their Cease and Desist series. We were in Asheville for the weekend for my birthday. Living in Atlanta, we have a lot of amazing restaurants, not to mention, my husband is an amazing chef (we had a catering business years ago). All this to say, we are pretty critical when dining out. Cultura did not disappoint! When you walk in, it's a beautiful display of plants, fresh herbs and greenery for cooking with really cool lighting and decor. We sat in a very comfortable booth and were quickly visited by our server. We ordered some craft tequila drinks which were amazing. Our server brought out the bread service and did amazing gluten free bread for me and pretzel rolls for my husband. We really enjoyed that...it was paired with this light cheese sauce that was amazing! We ordered a la cart starting with the mortadella. They make it in-house and it did not disappoint. Only complaint was there could have been more...tadella! lol! It was so tasty but only 2 slices. I wish the sauce on the top would have been on the side because it detracted from the wonderful taste of the meat. It was really good though. Then, for me... the star of the show was the grilled squid stuffed with chorizo and beans from Oaxaca with mole sauce. The chef brought it out for us. OMG. I don't even like beans but these beans... whoa! I don't say this often...it was a party in my mouth of such exquisite flavors and spices. The squid was cooked so well. Not chewy and very tender. We talked to the chef for a while about that dish. Very nice and talented guy! For my husband's main dish, he got the beef cheek curry with nan bread. Wow. I didn't have the bread since I'm GF but the curry... came out in the prettiest copper bowl like you'd find in India or England. The flavors were so deep and layered. Worked perfectly with the yogurt sauce. He said the black garlic naan was buttery, soft and so flavorful. I had the blue fin tuna and again, wow! It was wrapped in seaweed, sushi style and served with puffed rice. You put a little bit of the fermented jalapeño honey on there and dang.... Melted in your mouth! Very flavorful and not fishy at all. For dessert, we ordered a squash/custard/5 spice peanut dish. Our server told us it wasn't too sweet and we should have listened and ordered something else. It wasn't bad...it just wasn't what I like for dessert. Someone else may love it! When you go, make sure you visit the bathroom. Very funky as you can see in other people's pictures. Gosh this is rough. I really wanted to love this place and leave fulfilled but it was quit the opposite. It was their Sunday cease and desist menu. Sample box came out and it was all tasty but nothing we couldn't get at our local Miami food truck. Then there was some kind of taco pizza? Which was just the same flavors in the sample box in a different shape. Followed by extremely spicy rotisserie chicken paired with the same flavored spicy carrots. The spice was overpowering with nothing to compliment the flavor. Another major downfall was my friend is a pescatarian and expressed that from the start. At first they forgot and brought all the food with meat as is, which is fine, anyone can forgot; but once they brought something out for her it wasn't really an alternative. It was the same dish minus the meat. No fish or other protein to replace it. Our chicken dish came with tortillas, beans and carrots and she was told she could just have everything but the chicken. Which was after all the main part of the dish. As for the dessert; aw man. It was just not good. Maybe we had high expectations. Maybe being Persian and Cuban we're used to a certain amount of satisfying flavors. Maybe we're being too harsh. But this just isn't a place we'd want to recommend to anyone visiting or that we'd go back to. On a positive note; service was great and atmosphere was beautiful. Great ambiance and trendy decor but I was disappointed in the meal options. The current menu is limited (make sure you look ay recent menu postings) and I feel it is overpriced. My husband and I enjoyed their cheese and meat board ($30) and a special small plate of hand pies ($8). The meat and cheese board was the better of the two options. I was looking forward to trying their wines because they were sourced from an area of WA we are familiar with. I wanted to try as much as possible so I picked their wine flight ($25). The whites are much better than the reds. The reds I did not like at all (I didn't even drink them after taking the first few sips). They tasted bitter and sour. I'm familiar with their style of wine too (unfiltered and no sulfates added) and I would not recommend these. Best part of this restaurant is the bathroom area. It's tripped out in black lights and funky art. In summary, head in for some great Instagram photos but book your dinner elsewhere. read more

We came for the VIDL wine pop up and it did not disappoint. We sat in one of the tables in front of the bar area. The bartender was Nick and not only was he nice and helpful but he was also very informative as to menu items and the alcohol too. We had the lamb tartare, the house made bread, and the oysters. Everything was delicious! I can't wait to come back next year when they fully open up because the rest of the items look delicious! Another must do is to check out their bathrooms. Went to dinner last night at Cultura. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing. I can't tell you how disappointed we were. The food, honestly was awful. The wine was fine (other than them forgetting to bring it to us with the first course). We basically had about a bite each out of each food item and that was it. I would say for an almost $400 dinner we were highly dissatisfied. The best thing out of it all was probably the dessert but even that was mediocre at best. I didn't even take pictures because it wasn't even presented in a picture worthy fashion. read more

This dish is brand new - the manager told me I was the first customer to try it - and it wowed. Big time. They use local, varietal North Carolina beans, which I love, and they add "bread sausage," lil' discs of blissful wonder, as the crowning jewel. Came here for a birthday/valentines dinner and loved this location. The decor and ambiance at the restaurant is fantastic - very nature-infused, which I love. The service is impeccable and very attentive, even going so far as to explain the different local artists they have featured on the walls. We ordered the steak and lobster feast and it did not disappoint. It came with a generous serving of steak, cooked medium rare-rare, lobster, creamed corn and a blooming onion. Everything was cooked excellently and tasted fresh and amazing. The food was fantastic. When you're done with your meal, the check is brought with CBD cotton candy, which was a very unique feature. Only downsides, for those that don't drink much or aren't there to drink at all, their drink menu can be a bit limited. They only have the bar hose for sodas and do not have some drinks that would be standard most other places (dr. Pepper and root beer are two asked about that they do not have). Obviously this is attached to a brewery so many of the patrons here will appreciate the extensive alcoholic menu; however, as people who did not want anything to drink, the lack of standard non-alcoholic beverages was a bit surprising and disappointing - especially considering the cost of the meal. I feel this is a big miss on their part as not all people are there to drink expensive alcohols, but still want to enjoy the delicious food this restaurant has to offer. This place was so terrible! It was a horrible experience. The servers were nice and helpful. However the food was disgusting. I got up at one point to spit out some octopus nigiri in the toilet. Food came out cold, pasta undercooked. I can't believe how expensive it was for what we got. My boyfriend ended up getting sick and throwing up at the restaurant at the end of our meal. Amazing experience! Food was incredible, service was exceptional, and the aesthetics were lovely and well-imagined. Cultura is a beautiful space, managing to be both playful and elegant at the same time. The service really was impeccable . . . Our sever was warm, funny, and knowledgeable. The meal began with a wondrous amuse bouche that was so delicious we could have eaten it for our Main course (had it been much larger, of course!) We received a tiny dollop of thick ginger soup with a tiny garnish of house-made kimchi. Such intense flavor for such an impossibly small serving. Really made me wish we had opted for the chef's tasting menu. We'll certainly do so next visit. For our first course, we chose the seasonal stone fruit salad. Made with local peaches and nectarines, the salad tasted like summer. Garnished with pecans and dressed with a balsamic goat cheese dressing, the salad was delicious and refreshing. Next we both ordered the tile fish. The fish was perfectly cooked and mild in flavor, allowing the taste of the broth and summer vegetables to shine through. We ordered the roasted baby broccoli as a side, and it was a perfect seasonal accompaniment. For dessert, we ordered a vanilla cake with fresh peaches. Such a perfect ending to a perfect meal! Cultura is the second of Wicked Weed's restaurants and features their beers, wines, and sparkling waters. The restaurant is located next door to the Funkatorium, where you can enjoy more of WW's beers along with live music. I can't say enough to express what an incredible experience my wife and I had here on April 5th. The staff was incredibly knowledgable and speed of service was dialed perfectly. Mark and Jackson were our primary servers and Max is a wizard behind the bar. We interacted with a few other team members in passing and everyone was warm and welcoming. We enjoyed the tasting menu with the optional wine pairing. I would highly recomend adding the wine pairing because we felt it really took every dish to a new level. We have eaten a tons of exquisite restaurant across the United Sates and will tell you that you are going to be hard pressed to find a better experience. Cultura is probably one of the most exciting openings in Asheville this year. It is a partnership of the folks of Wicked Weed and Table's chef, Jacob Sessoms. The decor is beautiful with lots of wood and plants. The staff was well trained and friendly. The beverage menu has a nice selection of natural wines, fun cocktails and beers/ciders. The food menu was really fun. The first page had different options for tasting menus, mostly for 4 people but an option "per person" as well. The second page had a nice selection of shareable smaller plates. Really interesting variety. the third page had "feasts" for 2-4 or 4/6 people. Things like fondue in a bread bowl, fried chicken, stacks of ribs, steak and lobster, crab legs... We were 4 people and opted for the stacks of ribs and the fondue. The presentation was impeccable. Everything was delicious and most of all, fun. REALLY FUN. Dessert was a chocolate thingy with passion fruit mousse inside. We shared but I could have eaten that whole thing. It was really good. To finish it up, complimentary CBD cotton candy.. woohoo! We were pleasantly surprised with how much they had it all figured out, specially for a place that just opened last week. Right off the bat: my partner and I have tried a wide swath of the highest-rated restaurants in Asheville, and this is by far the best experience we have had. We ate off of the a la carte menu (the Thursday offering) and everything we tried was exquisite. There is not just one profile being presented here - each new dish had its own set of unique flavor combinations and textures, and the meal was truly an experience. We had some dietary restrictions that were accommodated with ease and without sacrificing any of the experience. Had dinner there last Friday evening. The waiter never smiled. We all wondered if he was ok. I asked for a diet coke and got a beer glass filled with tepid cola. No ice. The food was ok. Over hyped. We were not well informed as to what we were eating. Though we asked. My seat had a perfect view of the kitchen and the swinging door. They drop a lot of stuff and I watched a full on argument. We were not thanked when we left. I was very sick later that night ( yes that kind of sick) and shaky the next day. I'm visiting Asheville during a cold snap and I think the low temps kept others away tonight, but it was everyone else's loss. My mom and I basically got a private dining experience. We have big appetites so we ordered the heirloom shellbean cassoulet, lobster crudo, uni butter toast, and the Charleston feast. While we had to take some of the rice from the feast plate home, we managed to devour everything else. I was so excited about the uni toast that I forgot to take a photo. This is the first time I've ever been close to crying eating a meal. Service was amazing, drinks and food were BEYOND delicious. I highly recommend the small plates. We had the fall greens, thai sausage, Olivette beets, and pork blade steak. PERFECT. I know it's attached to a brewery, but this cocktail is a must. Tony was an amazing waiter! He answered all our questions promptly and fully. We were served a tiny bowl that someone brought to us, they explained what was in it, but not what it was for. Tony to the rescue! It was a palate cleanser btw. My husband and I shared the Swiss fondue. It was delicious and the portion size was perfect for sharing. Upon paying, they gave us cotton candy with CBD on top.
