These were the cleanest, tastiest raw oysters I have ever had in my life. Seriously- from NC, Maryland, and Massachusetts. And listen, if you think ordinary saltiness are tasteless and not worthy of your oyster- try these. The saltines are dipped in butter and then baked. Okay- we asked for extra. We had baked Oysters Bienville as well. This is umami at its finest. A mouth explosion to remember. Don't forget the green salad. We visited last night for the first time for our anniversary dinner. We will definitely be back! Everything is beautifully decorated and cozy. Lauren was our server and she was really great. I was expecting quality seafood and other ingredients...what I was not expecting was the sophistication and quality of execution of the dishes. Simply amazing! I love seafood and Jettie Rae's delivered on this first visit. Some of what we tried. Raw oysters, Woodsman's style clam strips, whole Branzino, and a daily special of rock, shrimp, pasta, and some spicy sauce that lived up to the spicy very well. All of it was delicious and while my heart would not have appreciated it, I could've eaten five orders of the clam strips all by myself probably. Stopped in for a weeknight dinner intending to have oysters from the raw bar and the special. (Po boys on Thursdays.) Instead of a Po boy though, I ordered the ceviche and got a 'whoo boy' - a tomato-corn ceviche that missed in every way. (Oysters were great though.) The bartender was gracious and removed it without anyone asking for it, so I have no complaints. We are regular diners here and will continue to be. The vibe is that nice. My wife and I returned to Jettie Rae's, her choice, which I fully seconded. We were a bit early, but were seated in the main dining room right away. Impressive selection of bottles in the bar. Our server appeared as soon as we were settled, and made some recommendations from their specials list. My wife ordered a margarita, the green salad with a passionfruit vinaigrette, and the fish and chips. I ordered a glass of French chardonnary, the red snapper crudo appetizer from the specials list, and the red drum with farro, turnips, watermelon radishes and tomato-guajillo broth. The margarita was great, it would put many Mexican places to shame. The French chardonnay was very good, not as oaky as my usual Sonoma County whites, but very smooth and a great pairing with the crudo. Ah, the red snapper crudo. That was a Wow! dish and the high point of the evening. Intense, briny and yet very light on the tongue. The red drum was good - I've only ever had drum once before, at K-Pauls in N'awlins. It was very good, but could have used maybe a bit of heat for my taste. I also ordered the Dark Chocolate Pot de Creme for desert, and that was wonderful - rich, decadent, very deep chocolate. We decided to celebrate my birthday with a nice dinner at Jettie. I made reservations online but arrived an hour earlier and was sitting right away. They sat us in the covered patio area. The temperature was just right to enjoy a meal. We started with the Oysters Bienville, and the juice from the ingredients ehance a overall taste from the oysters. For my entree, I had the Rock Shrimp Spaghetti. The noodles were delicious and made fresh. You could capture the taste in each bite. My favorite new spaghetti yummy. I was able to request a drink, not on the menu long island tea cocktail. Oh, yea, the bread was freshly baked, too. They do have free parking, which is a plus. read more

This is one of our regular spots as Asheville locals. In fact, we pretty much come every Wednesday we love it so much! Mitch and Melvin are tremendous bartenders and everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They have a regular rotation of in season oysters and the wine list is impressive, yet affordable. Get the rose and fish and chips if you are new. First time here in town from Charlotte. Yes it's true what they say the best seafood in Asheville. We started with crab cakes you get two crab cakes on top of succotash flavored well with not a lot of breading great choice. I had the whole flounder. It comes with multi-colored cherry tomatoes and other vegetables across the top it was cooked to perfection the skin was crispy and the flesh was meaty. Oysters Long Reach from ME yummy. They have about five selections every night. Had The prawns and a hanger steak. All was delicious. Service was wonderful from Emily he Hostess to Christian, who was our server. We went on Tuesday night and it's half Price wine night. Fabulous Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley. They have a patio outside that is dog friendly. Parking was a little bit of a challenge, but when we got inside found out that they have overflow parking at the credit union across the street. read more

Excellent service , upscale but relaxed atmosphere. First couple times I visited it was good but never stood out as a short list restaurant for me. Tonight changed my opinion. Food was fantastic especially the oyster bienvinedo (oyster Rockefeller) and my snapper dish which was best I've had. Chimchurri and sauce with the snapper very well balanced. It was our anniversary dinner and we were delighted with an appetizer of delicious oysters Bienville (like oysters Rockefeller, but with a fresh twist), and main courses of pan seared grouper on a bed of peas (which were more like black-eyed peas), peppers & olives and pan seared cobia (a delicious white fish) on labneh (creamy yogurt), golden beets and crunchy pea pods. Food was beyond delicious! Fish n chips were cooked to perfection. The baked oysters and cauliflower were both pleasant surprises. The raw oysters were some of the best we've had. Wonderful seafood spot in Asheville. Made reservations on Resy day of. I would however book in advance to have more of a time selection. Started off dinner with a variety of oysters. Ordered two kinds from North Carolina and one from Canada. They were fantastic. They were prepared wonderfully, where we didn't need to scoop them out. Seafood in the mountains, who knew? Jettie Rae's has always been a favorite of ours ever since they opened a few years ago. From their octopus which is always tender and flavorful to their daily specials which are eclectic and fun everything is delicious. We started off with Paloma's which are smoky and salty in the best way and really refreshing with seafood. We also opted for their daily app special which was lightly dressed blue fin tuna mixed with olives and buttery grilled crostini - YUM. For our entrees we got the shrimp po boy which was loaded with shrimp. It was lightly breaded and dressed so you could taste the sweet shrimp and deliciously light bread. We also got the crab cakes which had a ton of sweet crab flavor and came with grilled leeks and corn salsa. This entree was extremely light. Our favorite dish was the special which was a flounder and grits. The grits were soaked in milk over night so they were extremely thick and creamy in the best way. I'm starting with the great service that we received from the welcome at the door to our waiter, Dan. We were worried because we arrived near closing time but we were not rushed and actually quite the opposite. Dan was very knowledgeable about the menu and the way items are prepared and even where they originate from, especially from local sources. Mother's AVL bread was delicious, well made craft cocktails and a must have appetizer is Oysters Bienville. If raw oysters are your preference they have many varieties that you may mix or match by the piece. Even oyster shooters available. There were 3 of us, we tried the Oyster Po Boy, the Fish & Chips and a special Tile Fish dinner. The seafood was fresh and flavorful. The special came with a corn and gnocchi side that was amazing. Portions are good. Unfortunately we were too full to try any of the desserts that sounded mouthwatering as he described them. The covered patio in the front looks so relaxed and inviting. We sat inside for dinner. It's a nice vibe and has a large bar if you just want drinks and oysters...why not?! We don't live in NC but will definitely visit again when in the area. All in all, I'd say Jettie Rae's has become my favorite restaurant in Asheville. We had dinner there again last night, and I think this was our best meal there ever. I started with a gin martini, which was ice cold and just right. The oysters on the half shell, while pricey, were fresh and beautifully presented with the excellent mignonette sauce and the New Orleans-style seafood cocktail fixings of ketchup, horseradish and Crystal hot sauce. The fried clam strips, $11 as an appetizer, are the best I've ever found south of Boston (and these clams do come from Massachusetts.) Glory be! Jettie Rae's has brought back the fried oyster poboy (though the price, $21, is higher than it used be.) This is the best poboy I've had outside New Orleans, with very fresh Leidenheimer's bread and well dressed with mayo, lettuce and tomato. The shrimp poboy ($16) is also excellent. Dinner for two with tip, kitchen fee and tax was around $125, and well worth every penny. read more

I'm used to it with a little more cream so it was different but very good! Striped Bass was huge and plenty to share. Not overcooked so it was flaky amd full of flavor. I know it's Asheville and all fresh seafood has to be flown in but 4.50 per oyster seems very steep to me! I'm from Florida and oysters are plenty but never 4.50!!! Fish and chips amazing!!!! We called roughly 2 hours before attempting to dine and were told to call a little closer but they would be able to accommodate our party. We called an hour prior to driving in, we were told we would be seated. We called one more time, 10 minutes prior to arrival and were told we would be seated. Once we arrived, we were told we could be seated outside in 50° weather at two separate tables. When we referred to our several phone calls prior to arrival, they denied everything. Not cool. We had to move our reservation to a different time, and the staff were very accommodating about it. We immediately felt warmly welcomed when we stepped inside. Our server was attentive but let us order at our own pace. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great suggestions! Food: To start, we had the trout dip and a half dozen oysters. The trout dip was phenomenal and the oysters were fresh and delicious. For our mains, I had the fish and chips and my husband had the gumbo. No complaints here!
