    Hitting the drive-thru
    Mary T.

To this day, I have never had Dairy Queen in Minnesota. In Rochester, my local DQ was less than a five-minute drive from my home. Why have I never dropped by a DQ in this state? My chosen place for frozen custard, specifically shakes made with it, was and is Culver's. You have not lived until you have visited Culver's. The burgers and fries are incredible. Pair it with a shake and you can die happy. Funny how I will choose a Wisconsin-based eatery over DQ, which is based in Bloomington, MN. After spending a few hours shopping at the Eagan Outlet Mall, I needed to grab some dinner. I did a search and found this Culver's fairly close to my hotel. I went through the drive-thru to place my order. I got what seems to be my usual: a mushroom swiss butterburger with crinkle-cut fries. I substituted the fountain drink in the combo for a raspberry shake. The man taking my order was friendly and competent. I headed to the window to pay for my order. I handed him my credit card. He commented on how cool the graphic was, which was a cassette tape. I agreed with him. I pulled up by the side of the restaurant to wait for my order. There was a vehicle ahead of me doing the same thing. In the past, you used to get a physical number given that you place on your window so that the person with your order knows which vehicle to deliver it to. During this pandemic, it's now a sticky note with your number that's stuck to your side mirror. I like it. The wait didn't seem to long for a cheerful woman to hand me my food and shake. I was so happy. I thanked and wished her a nice evening, and drove back to the hotel. I was so looking forward to dinner and it didn't disappoint. The mushroom swiss butterburger was awesome. The sauteed mushrooms with swiss cheese always make me happy. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth yummy, juicy, and flavourful. The bun was lightly toasted and perfect. I love the crinkle-cut fries here. They are consistent. Lightly salted. Crispy on the outside and creamy inside. Yes! I am drooling thinking about the food and shakes. The raspberry shake was so good. I love how creamy and full of raspberry flavour this shake had. Culver's is my favourite shake place. So much goodness. I can't wait to return and stop drooling. (466)

Busy Spot on a Friday night or drive-through.

Food was prepared very well hot and fresh. Service has much improved since my last visit that this location.

Started with the onion rings which are huge and come in a serving of 6, which is more than plenty. They were extremely salty, the batter was over seasoned and we couldn't finish our order. We also tried the yum yum wings served w ranch. They were sweet with good flavor but the chicken itself was overcooked and dry, we couldn't finish them. Watermelon salad with grilled chicken was delicious as was the mad cow burger (3/4 lb!). The chicken sandwich on Texas toast was good but after eating half we realized it was still pink in the middle. Server (Amanda) was wonderful but overall we were disappointed that half of our food missed the mark. One last note - bartender was constantly adjusting her hair (she must have been hot), and then resumed making drinks (grabbing lime wedges etc, eek!). They should probably wear their hair back to keep their hands clean? Total bill came to $80ish.

The interior is modern and inviting, with some fun wallpaper making a statement. We cozied up to the bar during this visit. I will say that bar was a bit sloppy during our visit...bartenders' water bottles cluttering the visible space, bartenders spilling our drinks a bit during delivery, and weird transitions of staff that were a bit distracting. The Espresso Martini was the best item I ordered! Well balanced and the addition of the cold foam really made for an enjoyable sip. Would absolutely return for that one! The bites we ordered had great flavor, but some fell a bit flat when trying to live up to their creative ideas. The Fried Pickles were the best food item: perfectly crispy medallions with two delicious dipping sauces. The "burnt ends" cauliflower are really just roasted cauliflower with BBQ sauce on top, missing out on the umami juiciness of their namesake. The Chips that came with the Dip were just ruffled potato chips, not housemade or interesting. Solid spot for happy hour if you're looking in the area!

Very reasonable for the quality and vibe. We ordered the cauliflower burnt ends, fried pickles, and chips & dip. Everything came out flavorful and fresh. The cauliflower especially was a standout -- seasoned well with that perfect texture. The staff was helpful and very informative, which I always appreciate when trying a spot for the first time. The atmosphere gives after-work energy -- a place where you can unwind with coworkers or commune with family and friends. And the background tunes were on point. Happy Hour is getting a 4.5/5 from me. I'll definitely be back to keep this series going.

My dinner was especially good....the chicken fried perfectly...all dark meat the way I like it. The potato salad was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm used to a mayo based potato salad but this was even better with lots of flavor! The corn was also delicious. Everyone was very happy with their dinners. The chicken and waffle dish was also good. Ratio of breading to chicken was perfect and perfectly seasoned. The honey butter that came with it was also delicious. The New Orleans shrimp bowl was great too. The ratio of shrimp, which was perfectly cooked, to rice was good. Lots of great flavor. I think that everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. The only "ding" would be the service. We had to ask for silverware so we could eat and had to wait for straws because she forgot. I'm still going to give it 5 stars even though the service was lacking a bit. She was very nice but seemed rushed.

I ordered the Social salad. It was good but the presentation was trash. I also got a cup of the She - Crab soup. It was also just okay and certainly overpriced. Husband got the Pork Belly Burnt Ends at my suggestion. He asked if they had sauce added to them and if so, to get it on the side. Our server said they are prepared and the sauce caramelizes so no, no sauce. He asked due to being a type 1 diabetic and needed to calculate his insulin. Well, they came out covered in fresh sauce and were too dry to swallow. There were six chewed up bits of pork left on his plate when it was cleaned away. The Texas toast was the only redemption. Lastly the two others shared the half bird entree. Presentation was haphazard and the chicken was visually dry looking. They ate most of it and said the biscuit and sweet potatoes were good. The food alone wasn't bad enough to keep me away; but combining it with the service was. Our server Laura (sp?) didn't make her debut well after we've been sitting 10 minutes. We were there at 5:30 on Sunday. It wasn't busy at all. She was very nice. Her second stop was to take our orders. Food runner came and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for water as my glass was bone dry (I even ate my ice) and others' were 1/4-1/3 full. She said she couldn't bring beverages. It's water...not vodka. Weird. So Laura eventually comes back and filled our drinks and left the bill. She did overhear the birthday happenings and was nice enough to offer a free dessert. She got her cash payment and we never saw her again. Maybe it was the end of her shift? It just felt off. The table next to us had quite a few complaints and had a different server, so maybe there was just a bad vibe with the staff today? Hopefully management can figure it out. Bathrooms were nice and decor was nice throughout the restaurant.

At that point, I knew I was in for a treat. Any dining establishment packed at non-peak dining times must be a local favorite. I got the Thursday special: meatloaf with BBQ glaze, mashed potatoes, and char grilled corn. Meatloaf is one of my comfort foods, and this one really delivered. It was cooked perfectly; moist on the inside, a nice sear on the outside, and tangy BBQ sauce. The mashed potatoes and corn were pitch perfect too; I especially liked the char on the corn. The vibe is rustic casual, with ample large screen TVs for catching a sports game. Our server brought the wrong beer (light beer instead of Surly) , but made it right when we pointed it out. The acoustics were great; which is hard to find in populated places with a concrete floor. There is a parking lot. I'm already imagining a return visit next Thursday for more meatloaf!
