Still just as awesome as I remember. I grew up in Illinois where Culver's is a staple, unfortunately there aren't any in California (seriously you guys should get on that). Anyway we saw that there was one nearby and backtracked a couple miles to get here. So glad we did. You really must try the cheese curds, it's a Midwest thing you'll totally appreciate after you do. Ok, I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed. The burger was ok, slight mistake on my order but no biggie. The burger was not as special as I hoped or even read about. Since the new owners took over the quality has decreased drastically. Food is cold and not fresh. The burger bread is stale. Customer service is lacking. This is surprisingly a nice lunch spot. I usually don't do burgers for lunch since too heavy but they have other options. A nice variety. Everything is good here: burgers, fries, custard. It's the only fast food burger joint that I would deliberately go to. I like their snack meals. A decent small burger and fries with a small drink for about $5.00. A good deal. Much better than the dollar crap elsewhere. The pork sandwich and fish items are pretty good also. I like that I can get green beans as a side and they are OK. Ice cream is just fine and a temptation. My one complaint is that for awhile they were blaring religious music. Certainly they have a right to proselytize but it was annoying. So I am biased. I said it up front. The Culver family is from the town that my boyfriend grew up in... a tiny little town in Wisconsin so I know about the history behind Culver's. I know how much of a positive impact the owners have made on the community, I know that they are upstanding people who know the value of hard work. Even if I didn't know all of that though I would still like Culver's, and drive halfway across San Antonio for their cheese curds and concrete mixers. The burgers are a smidge greasy but honestly that makes them pretty darn good... served on a butter bun, oh heck yeah!!! And the cheese curds. They sound bad and look even worse but oh my they are a bit of cheeslaicious heaven. I mean come on, this place started in Wisconsin... TRUST THEIR CHEESE! I give this 4 stars because, when you walk into the place the first thing you smell is restrooms. Nobody wants to smell that before eating! The dining area smelled like dirty wet carpet. So now it's been 10 years since I've been a patron to this Culvers and I am completely satisfied. The staff is warm and friendly going above and beyond to assist you. The burgers (butter burgers) are juicy and delicious with a unique good taste to them. They come with crinkle cut fries (my fav) and also have fried Wisconsin cheese curds! Hello these are delicious. Culvers also has other items like fried chicken and fish that don't disappoint but I always find myself going for the burger meal. Don't pass up on dessert either because their custard is out of this world. They have different daily custard flavors and of course standard options so there's definitely variety in the sweets department. Last thing, Culvers Root Beer is very yummy.
