I've been wanting to try this place for so long, the vibes gave Armadillo burgers and if you know armadillo burgers you know you'd want to try this. Ok let's start off with the chips and queso, solid rating 4.5 Chips tasted like the oil they were fried in, Queso wasn't hot and got cold quick. Not my cup of tea but for 4.99 I guess it's not as bad. Sweet potato fries weren't giving either. Very small like I got the last. A solid 5 cause I like sweet potato fries. For 5.99 you get a kids meal, it does come with a drink the tenders are a great size and very juice give that a 9, the fries were very little as well and not flavorful, I would give those a 1. My burger is a solid 8.5 juicy and big. Lacked flavor but the size for $15 is good I guess. The customer service was mid, nothing too crazy. The ambiance was nice tho, very clean. read more

Walked in- the place was empty. We were trying to decided if we should just go to Parry's. We got there in between lunch and dinner but the customer service was non existent too. There were a number of tables that needed bussing but the kids behind the counter weren't making any effort. We ordered their main burger- The Big Juicy.  The burger was pretty pricey for being alone, not a combo. 2 of us got combos- which was another $5. We got sides and drinks. Tots and rings. Both sides were good. Tots were nice and crispy and fresh. The onion rings were big and crispy. You got a decent amount of both. We were shocked my the size of the fried mushrooms- which is the main reason my wife wanted to come here. She had heard it was prob the best in the city. See the pic below for the incredible size. I don't know where they found mushrooms this size. Now back to the burgers. They were fine. But again, not really worth the size.  We prob won't be back except my wife did say if she was in the area she might grab some mushrooms on to go.   Extra info: Any extra sauces costs extra. We kind of worried when we walked in and there was no customers. Large seating areas but no one. The staff didn't seem to thrilled we came in either. I would not have called them friendly. You order at the counter. They call your number / name out. We ordered 2 burgers- the big juicy. A side of Fried mushrooms. 2 burgers we got as a combo with onion rings for one and tots for the other. Let me tell u, the sides were the stars of this meal. The burger was fine, nothing wrong but also nothing stood out. Def not worth the price. The friend mushrooms stood out to me most , then the onion rings. The sizes of both were big but the mushrooms were unreal. (See pic below). Def will be back cuz those were def worth their price. Sadly, I think that will the only reason I'd be back tho. My family agreed that they were now wowed enough to come back for a full meal. What we did not like was everything was extra. Like each sauce is extra- the mushrooms came with two ranch sauces- and even jalapeños were extra. And upon tasting that ranch was def not homemade or special enough for me to pay for more. Good but a Grease pit. If you eat here, 1. wear fat pants and 2. be ready to take cleanser pills when you get home to flush your body. Lots of fried foods: burgers, chicken, tater tots, okra, mushrooms, pickles, onions, fries, sweet potato fries. Their niche is customizable burgers - lots of optional add-ons too many to list here. And self-serve sauces like A-1, Louisiana hot sauce, malt vinegar, and others I'm forgetting. I had "the horn" but I should've got the "big juicy" because it had some vegetables on it. That's my takeaway - I just wanted vegetables after eating here because it was a heavy meal for all of us. They do have salads so maybe next time, I'd get that. Right now, I just want to fall into a food coma and let this digest. Oof. I'd eat here again but I'd be more selective about my order. Other stuff that may matter: ample seating, decent selection of mass produced domestic beer, interesting neck and hand tattoos on the very polite clerk, TVs but no audio, and lots of windows with an awesome view of 1604 and the western sun. This is my go to for all things fried! I've been coming to this location since it opened and the service has always been fast and friendly. The laid back atmosphere is great for group lunches too. We went in to try the mac-and-cheese after seeing it ranked somewhere online as very good. You order at the counter and then your name is called when your order is ready. We split an order of queso and chips to start, and then had The Horn, a dinner plate for which the Longhorn Cafe is purportedly known. The Horn is two beef patties molded around cheese and jalapeños, and topped with grilled onions. It comes with Texas toast (natch) and two sides -- we had the aforementioned mac and fried okra. It was all fine. Presentably worthwhile but sadly nothing to write home about: the mac was cafeteria fare, the fried okra a bit bland but not too greasy, and the "Horn" was fine. You get to pick how spicy you want it: mild, medium, or hot. The real turnoff for me was the loudly blared announcement of names when orders were ready; I don't know if the speaker was in need of repair or if the announcer really didn't need to use any volume increaser. It was really jarring, quite the distraction. I don't think it was our kind of place, but the food was plenty serviceable and we easily split the single entree with a bit left over. read more

One of our favorite places for chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. Their fried mushrooms were delicious and are huge. The fried pickles are on the sour side and lightly breaded and tasty. We frequent this establishment because of the favorable value for our money. The tastiness of the food is also worth the trip. Very busy on weekends. High noise level due to no soft interior. Reverberating sounds can make it unbearable at peak time. Food is mediocre here. Lower taste and quality then the other locations. I assume it's due to front line rushing and lacking care for quality. The most egregious thing to mention is the mockery of the customers concerns by the cook staff and front line. I will assume the manager is part of this. For example a door dash was upset that the wait for their pick up was 15 minutes. They mocked the concern that 15 minutes was a bit long. To mock customers is a very clear indication of lack of customer service training. I waited 20 minutes and one of my guest got their food 15 minutes before us. Not unusual but food was cold. There is also a fly problem at this location at this time. Again, Longhorn is one of favorites. This one is not. read more

Locations right off the highway and easy to find. The staff was very helpful and nice. The place was very clean and all staff had masks on. Tables where cleaned after very customer. They had a good burger selection to choose from. I like to try new mash ups of things. The Burgers were good, wasn't a big fan of the buns. They were very soggy and while eating it just became soaked with the juices of the burger and tomatoes. Which ended up making the burger messy to eat. Man, I would have taken pics but I killed my smoked Turkey and provolone sandwich with sweet potato fries so fast! If you want a home cooked meal, this is the place to go! Everything is made fresh like it should be. They have an open kitchen concept which is nice because you can see what they are doing. The restaurant was huge and would be a good place for big party gatherings. There is no waitstaff just kitchen staff. You order, find a sit and your name is called for your order and you retrieve it. Another great thing as you really don't have to tip unless you want to (I typically do tip as that will go to the kitchen staff). The chicken strips are huge and great! Also, the fried pickles are amazing they were hot (temp wise) and crispy as were the onion rings and tots. They hand bread the onion rings and pickles. Great place overall. One of my favorite burger joints around. Recently found out this location was opened as I would have to drive to the Military Rd location in the past just for the Big Juicy. Speaking of, the Big Juicy with cheese, jalapeños and bacon has been literally one of my top 10 burgers of all time. With a side of tots, this combo hits the spot. They always have great burgers. If you want to be adventurous, than order the onion rings. It was all absolutely delicious.

I'm surprised by the low reviews honestly because we had an amazing experience tonight. Staff was super friendly, helped us navigate the menu. The establishment itself was very clean, we constantly saw people walking around wiping off tables, sweeping the floors, and cleaning off the counters where you pick up your foods and get your drinks. The food itself was SO good. Both burgers were juicy, cooked well, and piled high with toppings. Sweet potato fries are not my favorite but I really enjoyed theirs. I got the triple decker club and even though it's just a simple sandwich, it was really good. The bread was perfectly crispy and buttery. The bacon was extra crispy just like I like it and you could taste every single component on that sandwich. I'm a tater tot snob and these were slightly over cooked, super crunchy outside and soft on the inside and perfect. I loved that they were a little over done. And let's talk about pricing really quick, we got all of this for $35. I personally feel like that's a steal, especially for these big burgers in San Antonio. Overall, awesome experience.
