    Patty Melt with fries
    Dan S.

Location & Vibe * Cumberland Canteen in nestled at Cherokee Marina on Old Hickory Lake, it's literally waterfront dining with boats drifting by--perfect for laid‑back lunches, scenic brunches, or casual dinners. Patty Melt Perfection This isn't your average diner fare: a juicy beef patty is sandwiched between two grilled slices of marble rye, with gooey melted cheese and caramelized onions melding everything into one irresistible bite. The rye is perfectly crisp, the onions sweet, and the cheese--Swiss-style--oozes into every crevice. It's a classically rich and satisfying comfort sandwich. Fries That Shine Cumberland Canteen drives their fries home with crispy, golden perfection. These hand-cut spuds arrive piping hot, fluffy inside with just the right crunch outside. Fans often remember them most-- these where some of the best fries I have had in a long time. Pairing the patty melt with a side of their house fries is a no-brainer. The classic duo complements each other: savory richness meets comforting crunch in every bite. Ambience & Experience Set right by the marina, the canteen gives you upscale yet "down‑home cookin'" vibes--boats drifting by, waterside breeze, and a laid-back atmosphere . It's the kind of place where a hearty sandwich feels just as welcome as scenic views.

I can't brag enough about the Cumberland Canteen!! I've eat here couple times a month or more. I've never been disappointed. The menu is nicely done, with lots to choose from. Food & flavor is always consistent. Staff is always friendly and keep you topped off on drinks. Everyone I recommend to dine here, love it and become regulars. Especially great on weekend mornings hanging in the deck taking in the lake views! Thank you CC for being amazing!!

I arrived around 11:40am on a Sunday. I was originally told there was a 45 minute wait for a table. It was not busy, and there plenty of places to sit - inside and outside. Very odd. I ended up being seated in less time (about 15 minutes). The patio was open so I dined outside. The bar tender was nice and attentive. She was working hard. So her service was adequate, but the amount of time it took for the meal to come out was a bit excessive. From the time I was seated, it took about 85 minutes to get my meal. The onion rings did come out first, which were fine. Crunchy - not soggy. The sliders were decent. Fries were fine. Waffles & chicken were okay. Nothing life altering as far as the food itself. Just know this - you should NOT come here if you are in a rush or want to be in and out. It's not that type of place. You're going to be sitting and waiting. It was a decent meal.

11/13 Stopped in for a quick dinner after a long trip. I had the Ruben and my husband had the Prime French Dip. Both sandwiches were delicious. The Prime French Dip had so much meat on it it was more of an open faced sandwich, not a complaint....just a warning. Every meal we've had here has been good.

We came for brunch and completely agree with the other reviews about service being extremely slow. We sat outside and waited for 20 minutes before someone came to our table to greet us and take our drink order despite servers tending to other tables. They all seemed busy but the outside area only had a handful of tables so maybe they were really busy inside? Not sure, but we were there about 2 hours beginning to end for eggs, toast and pancakes. The food was good and the servers were nice. And we really enjoyed listening to the live music!

Ambiance: we did call first because we saw the post about not sitting in the new area. That was true . We did end up sitting inside where there was air conditioning. If weather allows, outside would be a better choice. It was pretty loud with all the large parties and we were on folding tables. Not the nicest of ambiance. Service was good. Pretty crowded for a Saturday night but got our food and drinks right away. Didnt get a whole lot of attention after that but didnt really need a lot. Food...it was good. Parm and hamburger was okay. I'd return for the pizza. The crust was nice and crispy and the sauces were very flavorful. Much larger than anticipated. Pie was pushed it to another level.

So you don't need to make a reservation because it won't make a difference. The food was decent and the waitress was very nice.

Came for Sunday brunch. Excellent service. Excellent food. Apparently ambiance is also a thing and it's here in spades.

The food was ok. Waiting over an hour is not. 20 minutes for a mimosa. I don't understand why it took so long when no one was here.

We went on a Sunday and every table was packed, so definitely make a reservation. Our waitress Addison was amazing and gave us recommendations that absolutely did not disappoint. I originally wanted prosecco but they were out, so she recommended a cava instead and it was excellent. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and had a slightly crispy skin on the chicken that made it even better. Everyone at our table was genuinely happy with their meals, which says a lot. We also got the cheesecake for dessert and it was seriously delicious. Honestly one of those meals where every part of the experience just worked. It feels like the kind of mom and pop restaurant people hope to find. Warm, lively, and focused on giving people a great experience. Will definitely be back.

Rosie Food and Wine is discreetly tucked into a strip mall right here in Hendersonville and boy does it ever deliver creative, delicious food! We weren't able to get reservations in time so we opted to sit at the bar and it was a wonderful time. The bartender was super nice, chill and yet attentive. My wife got the scallops with a side of Brussels sprouts and loved it, not a huge serving but cooked to perfection. (She was perfectly happy with the portion but I would have been whining). I got the quail, my goodness it was amazing! It was a generous portion and I ate every bite. I seriously haven't had anything that good in a coon's age. (On average a coon lives 2-3 years in the wild). Rosie Food & Wine was a great experience and I highly recommend it! We'll be back, no doubt.

Edit is a place I genuinely want to see succeed, and there is so much here that's done really well…read more I've been multiple times now, including Mother's Day, a date night with my husband, and most recently with my neighborhood girlfriends for an early Galentine's celebration. The atmosphere is consistently one of its biggest strengths. It's cozy, warm, stylish, and inviting, the kind of place that feels like a true local hangout. The cocktails are out of this world, the wine flights are excellent, and the space itself feels special for Hendersonville. It's also helpful to understand the concept behind the food. Edit does not have a traditional kitchen. The menu is prepared offsite each morning in a commissary kitchen and delivered fresh, with select items reheated behind the bar. When it works, it really works. You would never guess that the fondue with caramelized onions, gruyere, and black truffle starts cold. It comes out melty, rich, and delicious. The whipped feta is another standout and honestly lives rent free in my mind. Where things have been more hit or miss is execution. Across visits, there's almost always one or two things that keep the experience from feeling truly five star. Sometimes a dish isn't heated through quite enough, sometimes service pacing is slower than expected, and occasionally both happen on the same visit. You can tell a lot of care goes into preparing the food earlier in the day, which makes it frustrating when it doesn't quite land as intended once served. Service has also varied depending on the night. There's a strong sense of community here, and it's clear that many locals are regulars who know the staff well. That can be really lovely, but at times it has felt a bit distracting, especially when long conversations behind the bar slow down drinks or food for table guests. On one visit, delays were significant enough that my husband and I decided to close out early and eat elsewhere. On other visits, including our most recent one, the experience was overall enjoyable but still a little uneven. That said, the vision behind Edit is compelling. Getting to hear the story behind the restaurant and the intention to raise the bar in Hendersonville made me root for it even more. You can feel the passion, creativity, and desire to build something special here. I'm giving four stars because I genuinely think Edit is amazing, but every time I've gone there have been a few things that keep it from feeling like a true five star experience. These feel like very fixable, foundational issues, and if they were tightened up, this would easily be a five star spot in a heartbeat. I plan on continuing to come back, because my hope is that each visit gets closer to that mark, and the moment it does, I'll gladly update this to five stars. If you're on the fence about trying it, definitely go. And if you're just stopping in for a drink, absolutely do it. The cocktails are exceptional, the wine flights are fun, and some of the appetizers are truly memorable. Just plan for a relaxed pace and enjoy your time there. It's a wonderful place to linger, especially if you're not on a tight schedule or racing a babysitter clock.

The space is beautiful, clean, and open, making it perfect for a date. At first glance, it looks like a stylish coffee shop with high-end espresso machines, but it also has a full bar and gorgeous décor. It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night, which made us a little hesitant, but the service quickly won us over. The bartender and waiter were both friendly and attentive. We ordered both the beef and chicken sliders, plus two cocktails--the Common Problems (gin-based) and the Jungle Bird. The drinks were excellent, especially the gin cocktail--botanical forward. So good! The chicken slider was flavorful with a great coleslaw, but the beef slider tasted like frozen sliced meat on a nicely toasted bun--good, but nothing special. The standout dish was the roasted carrots with whipped feta, hot honey and pistachios--absolutely delicious and apparently not ordered often. Y'all better order those carrots! Prices are on the higher side, but the ambiance and drinks make it worth it. I'd definitely return for the cocktails and those incredible carrots.
