I've lived in the area my entire life and surprisingly have only been to cup n cone a few times. I've only ever heard great things about the place which makes it hard for me to only give it 3 stars. I went today and just didn't find anything amazing about it. To be honest the cookie dough malt I ordered was very bland I couldn't taste any flavor to it. That malt taste I was craving was completely absent. Not sure if they forgot to add it or what but it was pretty disappointing, I didn't even finish it. I ordered a hoagie as well and it was good not great. It wasn't too big of a sandwich but it filled me up. It came with your choice of meat and cheese along with lettuce, tomato, onion, bell peppers, banana peppers and their vinaigrette. Tasted like it was made with fresh ingredients, I would order it again. The food is cheap and it's in a great location downtown White Bear Lake. read more

WHY HAVEN'T I BEEN HERE SOONER?!?!?! This place is a neat old school ice cream shop (and more!) located in WBL! I guess I never stopped by before because when I do drive by it's always got a HUGE line... ummm YEAH, because they're AWESOME! I did not get anything super special, I got vanilla icecream in a cup DIPPED in cherry... so basically a dipped cone but I HATE cones. My friend got a orange slushie and it looked super delish! The area is just perfect for stopping by and enjoying your treat. There are walk up windows where you order your goods, then there is a large patio like space surrounding them with lots of picnic tables and tables with umbrellas and chairs. So cool... Great selection and generous portions for the very reasonably priced ice cream. The only downside can be the long line during peak times.

This is the best ice cream place around. Ten times better than dairy queen and cheaper too. Be prepared to wait 30 min or more in the summer once covid ends. This place is popular and the lines are long. read more

When I've wanted to go here in the past there was always a long line. I was hoping that by going a little earlier in the season and evening that it would be better. It was, no line but still lots of people around eating their ice cream treats. My husband and i both got cones. I got chocolate ice cream with a peanut butter shell, large. My husband got twist ice cream with coconut shell and nuts and sprinkles coating it, medium. He loved that part, apparently DQ doesn't do that. Both the medium and large were too big for us, we probably should have gotten smalls. I was tempted to get a sundae, next time. Service was quick. This place is very popular. I'd go back and try something different. read more

How have I not reviewed this yet?! Cup and Cone is a great summer place to visit if you can get through the line. We've actually turned around a few times after seeing the crowd. But when we go, we get good ice cream for a great price. I love that they even have a kids cone that really is a little cone perfect for a child. One minor complaint: I got a butterfinger blizzard wannabee and the candy was stale tasting. Still candy, but disappointing. read more

Today was the first time I have been to Cup and Cone and I was impressed! I ordered a pastrami and capicola hoagie and for dessert a Carmel Apple Sundae. The Hoagie was topped with red onions, jalapenos, some other assorted pepper, and Italian dressing. This sandwich with a bag of Ruffle's Cheddar and Sour Cream chips and a cup of water costed me $4.75. Top off the sandwich with the chips for an extraordinary experience. The Sundae was amazing! It came in a clear plastic sandwich box with four slices of apples laying 90 degrees from one another topped with a gigantic dollop of vanilla ice cream and an ocean of carmel sauce. I am a little bit allergic to apples, meaning my lips swell a bit, and my tongue and inner ear get a little itchy. However, perhaps it is due to the cooling effect of the ice cream or perhaps some residual effect of the Allegra D 24-hours that I took a few days ago, but the apples did not really affect me too much. When I got back to the office I felt a little "itchiness" growing, but a mug of warm water quelled the itchy sensation. Cup and Cone is all in all a decent place for food, but really earns the fourth star strictly from a value standpoint. read more

The cup and cone is an outdoor kiosk by the new strip mall on the West Side of hwy 61 & 4th street. You can get soft serve here with a wide variety of toppings. The soft serve is a little thicker than at most places and the flavor is good. Its not expensive either. I didn't plug into the nostalgia, though if I were a kid I probably would have been more wowed. Its the kind of place you could pedal your bike to on a hot summer day and goof around with your friends. read more

I used to ride my bike up here from 5th street (a long, long way for a 7 year old). I hoarded all my pennies and nickels to get a plain vanilla ice cream cone or other snacky-poo of choice. I remember barely being big enough to hoist myself up to sit on the railing with my paws dangling out of the legs of my too-tight, elastic-waist tough skin hand-me-downs. Soft serv and a while lot more. Every town needs a place like this to bring people together. Lots if picnic tables in an outdoor plaza. I tried the Freeze with lemonade slushie mixed with soft serv. It was a great texture and not too sweet. read more

It's alright. They sell ice cream. Don't say that around someone who grew up in White Bear Lake though. It's one of those downtowny one of a kind shops that the born and raised locals derive a depressing amount of pride from. Unfortunately we thought the staff was rude, the ice cream wasn't any better (in fact worse) than Culver's and Dairy Queen. Not much flavor. Even with the candy mixed in.
