I'm a fan of "fast food" especially of the Asian variety. After all, I am Asian, and truly developed flavors take hours. So, if a place can offer the same flavor in a short amount of time, why not? Unfortunately that wasn't the case with CupBop. I'm sure in it's prime, it was a cherished novelty, now it's just food that tastes all the same regardless of the option. I ordered the "Noodle Bop". Here I was expecting perfectly seasoned noodles with absolutely perfect sides and all I got was hot noodles, overly seasoned with some oil (sesame?) dumped over white rice with flavorless vegetables. I had to remind myself, "this is a fast food establishment" what was I thinking? Then I thought, Panda Express is fast food, not authentic Chinese, but it's actually edible. A couple of bites of my starch on starch dish, I had to stop. It wasn't palatable at all. If you're looking for something quick, have a friend cook for you or at least go to an Asian Market and make noodles yourself. The cheap price isn't worth the overwhelming disappointment you'll experience. This is a hard pass, foodie or not, beware, this isn't it. read more

Sign on the door says they close at 9:00pm. We arrived at 8pm. All of the chairs were up and they said the lobby closes at 7:30pm. We said okay we will take our food to our hotel. Then we learned they were out of everything! Very frustrating. read more

The ambiance is very modern, there's even a food truck in the middle of the restaurant. There was only 1 person working and she was helping the person before me who ordered like 4 bowls, so I waited a little while to get service. I ordered the shake bop with beef and I got a peach korean drink. There are 10 sauces you can add with different spice ratings and I got the 5. The trucks actually tasted so much better. I lived with Korean roommates so I know what hot stone pot is. You are supposed to make the pot really hot and make the rice really stick to it. Nope.. put oil and rice and half cooked it. As a result, u end up with expensive oily cupbop. read more

Was killing time at the mall and was intrigued by Cupbop. I'm not local, so I wasn't sure if it was a chain or not, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it started out as a local food truck! The store was clean, the employees were super friendly and gave me recommendations as a newbie. For around $10 with a drink, I was stuffed and couldn't finish the bowl, which was disappointing as it was absolutely delicious! I had the chicken bowl (you'll forgive me for not knowing the lingo) with level 6 spicy sauce, cabbage, and noodles. I'm still thinking about it two days later--definitely the best mall food I've ever had. When I come back to the SLC area, I'll be finding the nearest Cupbop first thing. read more

I was hoping to find a full cup. No success. Also male cashier was rude and rushed through transaction with only one person waiting to order. Paid $7.50 for this almost full Cupbop. As a frustrated customer I called immediately after my visit, asking for a manager. Heard the male cashier tell the manager she had a call, she said "who is it" then he said someone wanting a manager. He said she is not available I am the assistant manager I can help you. Service at this location is awful. One visit we tried to call ahead and there was no answer, so we expect a crowd. A few minutes later when we arrived it was empty and the staff was goofing around. My next visit we ordered our tofu and fried chicken. We had our rice, noodles and lettuce load just how we wanted...then one by one they told us that they were out of both the "meats" we wanted because the they didn't expect the rush. Who doesn't expect a rush at 6:30pm. They was no offer to make it better (like a free drink). Paid full price for two meals we didn't order. Food is fine, but not worth the headache. I'm only giving this place 2 stars because the food was tasty. During one of the busiest times of year with tons of shoppers we thought we'd grab lunch during the hustle and bustle. The staff was nice so they get the other star. The place was a mess. It smelled like rancid milk by the fountain drink machine. They were out of lots of ingredients which wasn't a huge deal but still worth mentioning. Probably won't be back. Just visited this cup bop for the first time today. I will start off by saying it was super clean, the ambience was pretty cool, the menu was easy to see and the wait wasn't too long. The staff was very friendly and moved quickly. It didn't take long at all to get my lunch. I ordered the k Bop combo with brown rice at a 5 heat. I think if I were to go back I would have gone for the 7 heat sauce. The 5 had a little heat but on my scale of 1 to 10 would probably have been around a 3. Everyone is different though. One of the gals I went with got a 2 and she said it was too spicy for her. The main reason for not giving it a 4 or 5 stars was frankly the flavor. It was just ok. It was kind of on the bland side and really to me, wasn't something I would really get excited paying $10 again for. This could just be me. I had previously been to cup bop many years back when they were only a food truck and my recollection was that it was something unique and quite special. I recall it having a lot of flavor and spice and was excited to hear that they were now beginning to establish locations. Maybe my tastebuds have changed as I have aged, but to me, it really wasn't quite on par with what I had had before. I will say that the majority of friends I went to lunch with enjoyed their cups quite a lot, so please don't take this as that this isn't a good place to go. I just thought is was fair for the price. If I have $10 to spend on lunch and have a choice as to where to do, I am going to head to Even Stevens or a place of the like. read more

I am honestly so sad to give CupBop 2 stars because they used to be SO GOOD! The tofu bowl they used to have was so delicious and warm, but I was told it was now only sold at the Murray location. The employee running the line, Jordan was very friendly and hilarious, absolutely made my day, deserves a raise! I originally ate Cupbop at a food truck at the fair and it was so yummy but this food was "edible" and I won't be going back. It had very little flavor to it and I went back to the counter to get more of the sauce on top. My son felt the same way. I do like Korean food because I love Bumblebee's in Midvale. I came into Cupbop not knowing what I wanted, and the food choices are somewhat foriegn to me. Nate provided me with a recommendation, that Mattie put together for me. Boy was the food delicious, with all of the add ins of various vegatables, and egg enhanced the food. So I have never been to Cupbop before, and I'm sure it's better if you're not a vegetarian like I. But this place sucks. It's a Friday night and they have 3 people working. Which I can get but you would think they would try harder. To get anything Gluten Free is 10 minuets, so that's a thing. But the food all tastes the same, and the tofu that I had was cold. First let me say, I love cupbop. We come every Saturday night. There have been problems in the past like dry rice and to much sauce, but it was always edible. Today horrible. I get the shake bop. It was more like soup today because they didn't drain the meat. Also the sauce was just do much today. The noodles were almost black and some were dry and crunchy. The squash (yellow) was like cheese. So bizarre. I love yellow squash. So couldn't eat the noodles, the few that were there, I couldn't eat the squash and couldn't eat the rest because it was just saturated. I love your product when it is done right. Love the ambiance and character of this location. Ntm the employees are always so friendly, kind and accommodating. Really bummed that they've gotten rid of their tofu option as that doesn't leave vegetarians with any option for protein any more. Also really bummed they don't let us choose lettuce or cabbage any more and that they're now just mixed together. The noodles and kim chee is still great though. I overall however prefer the Draper location out of all their locations. read more

The food was just great. Came in for lunch and got exactly what we wanted. Five stars in the food. But we did not have the best experience getting our food. A young gentleman helped us with our food and was openly rude to my wife for no apparent reason. We were so caught off guard all we could do is awkwardly laugh in the uncomfortable situation. He invited me to come back without my wife and said that he just didn't want to help her and told her he didn't like her flat out. Very disrespectful and rude. Please have HR or a manager train him how to treat customers in the vet way possible. One of the worst experiences I've had getting food at any restaurant based on the service. read more
