4 cupcakes for exactly 10 dollars. It is not too bad. It seems like some flavors are only ok and others are really very good! The cupcake itself deserves 5 stars. It is a slightly larger than normal cupcake. Moist to the perfect amount by remaining in between the lines of spongy and cakey. No crumbs! Also heavy for it's size. Light and creamy frosting and surprise fillings. The real stars are the choco cupcakes. Cupcake enthusiasts MUST taste one. The other flavors dont seem to deserve the 5 star rating cupcake. The peanut butter frosting had a slightly bitter taste to it so that sort of took away from the non-choco cupcake experience. Someone suggested the red velvet cupcake which made Oprah's O list. It was decent but I did not really like the fine but still present sugar particles crunching against my teeth. read more

Ive heard a lot of bad reviews by word of mouth but this place is GREAT!!! Cupcakes are always moist and fresh-tasting. Larger than most other spots ive been too! Cakes are to die for although a little on the pricey side. If you are not pre-ordering, get there early......the good flavors run out by noon often. read more

I love this place!! I don't know about the people who have had issues with customer service here, every time I've gone in to order a cake, they have been super friendly. A while ago I went in to order a cake for my sisters graduation since they didn't have it in store, and simply told them the kind of cake I wanted and that it was for a graduation. When I went to pick up the cake, they had made a beautifully decorated Graduation theme on it and were so nice about the whole thing! I ordered another cake for Christmas and same thing... This place is great. If you get a chance to go, my two faves are the Red Velvet or the Chocolate Mousse cupcakes, definitely try them if you get a chance! read more

First time here even though I go to Ridgewood a few times a month. I have been looking for a cupcake that has that perfect balance between cake and icing and Carousel delivers. This One star is for the customer service only. Cupcakes are delicious. (However) I took 4 of my coworkers to get cupcakes and when we walked in. There were 2 girls behind the counter and we were not greeted with a smile but more of an oh boy yeah what do you want kind of expression. I've raved about Cupcakes by Carousel and couldn't wait for them to try them out. However I was completely taken back by the lack of customer service which was horrible to say the least. Out of the two young ladies behind the counter one was by far the worst. She was not welcoming at all in fact she looked at us with no kind of hello, welcome to, or how can I help but instead said how many do all of you want in total and we all kind of glanced at each other and were like uh our orders are going to be separate and since this was their 1st time there they had no idea what or how many they wanted. But I will tell you if they had wanted to order more her attitude quickly changed their minds. She didn't even offer help on what to choose and when asked what kind of filling/icing they had on them she barely and I mean barely responded. She was just plain rude and made us feel as if we had no business being there. I felt so embarrassed for bringing my coworkers there to get that type of treatment. Sadly, I'll never bring them back. I've always been a fan of Cupcakes by Carousel but I too get annoyed when I receive a nearly frozen cupcake to take home. I came in the other night to pick up a dozen for my boys at work and when I got home to eat mine the inside filling was completely frozen. I was baffled. I let it sit out for a little while and it thawed out but I still don't think they should be serving you frozen cupcakes.... especially at the price you are paying. read more

I bought six cupcakes for a graduation gift. Which I was disappointed they could not write congratulations on them. The cupcakes were WAY too sweet. The frosting was just sugary and every cupcake tasted the same. The cake wasn't even that moist. I was disappointed and sad I got them as a gift. I can't believe they have five stars. Really wanted to like these cupcakes. We were hoping to use them for our event since they are local and the price is right, but the cupcakes are WAY TOO SWEET! Even my four year old said, "I can't finish this. It's too sweet." I don't see what all the rage is about their red velvet cupcake. I thought it was meh. The cannoli cupcake would've been perfect had it been a filled cupcake. That being said, their other filled cupcakes we tried: the apple pie, boston cream, peanut butter, hostess cupcake, and boston cream, while good on flavor were too sweet to take more than one bite of. This is a nice place, very clean, but also very very small. There is only one two top table inside, so if you are looking for a place to sit down and chill for awhile, look elsewhere. I consider myself somewhat of a cupcake expert because I try them at any location I see them. The cupcakes here are good, not great. For a great cupcake, go across the street to Crumbs. read more

Cupcakes made me 5 specialty cupcakes so I could ask my girls to be my bridesmaids for my wedding. I made little boxes that said "it would be the icing on the cake if you would be my bridesmaid" and when then opened them up, the most beautiful, delicious cupcakes were inside. Everyone loved them and they were a total hit. Thank you so much cupcakes! Couldn't be happier with my first Cupcakes by Carousel experience! Wanted to celebrate my son's half birthday (18 months), by getting him a special cupcake. Found this place via Yelp! and saw they had an online coupon, so I decided to get a half dozen (one being free). The girl taking my order over the phone was very friendly and helpful. When I picked up my order, I noticed a cupcake I really wanted to try and asked if they could swap one out for me. Absolutely! All the girls working there were extremely friendly. When we finally unveiled D's special cupcake (Vanilla M&M), and did the taste test... It passed with flying colors! Not dry in the least bit, as most chain and bakery cupcakes are. I am now enjoying the Cannoli cupcake, hours after purchase... Delicious & moist! You can taste the real ingredients used. We will be back! read more

This was so surprising. Im obsessed with cupcakes... and it is very hard for me to give 5 stars to a place... but my boyfriend and I both agreed that if this place was closer, we would be there all the time. The cupcakes are lighter then most, and baked nicely. But the flavors are delicious. Trouble is, these are the kind of cupcakes were you can eat a few easier then those that are more dense. I'm impressed to say that this place beat out La Dolce Divas in Englewood. And that's pretty big. I would say they did better in two big areas: decor/graphic material and cream inside the cupcakes. I've always been on the lookout for cupcakes with cream inside. Who doesn't want a surprised like that? At most places, you can only find it inside Hostess Cupcakes, and even that filling can be pretty minimal. Cupcakes by Carousel has an entire list of cupcakes with filling inside, and I happened to pick two of those before I saw the list: Coconut and Hostess Cupcake. The coconut was delicious and not mixed with lemon (I dont like lemon in my coconut) and the Hostess Cupcake had a huge amount of filling in the middle, not to mention the top was iced with filling, then the fondont layed on top. I dont think I have seen that before, but either way it was delicious and by far one of the best Hostess Cupcakes I have had. I also tried the Red Velvet (one that Oprah made famous) - it was very good. And the Reeses Peanut Butter Chocolate cupcake - that was good, but basically a chocolate cupcake with a fancy topping. I would have liked it better with some peanut butter filling (have you sensed a theme?) The cake and icing was delicious all around. Another point in which they excel is their logo and publicity materials. Their colors are aqua and brown - trendy - with a three cute cupcakes. Each of their handouts are colorful and well done, they have a greatly detailed list with descriptions of all of their cupcakes, along with cupcake tatoos and my favorite, a beautiful cupcake box with cutouts for your cupcakes. That really sealed the deal, it wasn't just a plastic takeout box or cardboard pastry box. Before you try the big name of "Crumbs" in Ridgewood, I would suggest trying a local business, discover the meticulous detail and a delicious flavor at Cupcakes by Carousel. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find this cupcake shop on ridgewood Ave. It's nice to know cupcakes are becoming so popular! This shop has a great location right by the movie theatre. It's tiny inside but they have a few tables outside. The selection of cupcakes is amazing!!!! I could have just closed my eyes and pointed. I chose a vanilla m&m cupcake which was delicious- the cake was moist, not stale. It was better then the Sweet Revenge, ny one. and this cupcake had a ton of sweet frosting and a bunch of tiny little m&m's, it was smile inducing. read more

A cupcake delivery from this place is more than enough as a present. It was even delivered cold and I'm in NY even though their place of business is in NJ. Each cupcake was carefully protected to preserve it's presentation. To put it simply, I was very impressed and so u decided to take a drive to their locale one day. I was surprised to find that it was this was this mom and pop shop in this small town. Made the experience even better cause it made me feel that made those miniature gifts just for me. Perusing some other reviews I am shocked to find out that these are frozen cupcakes. Frozen or not, I was drooling over the display case they looked so good and the carrot cake cupcake I chose was a heavenly treat. I believe I actually uttered the words "this is the moistest cupcake I've ever had" upon taking my first bite. I am far from a cupcake connoisseur, but for what it's worth, I thought my cupcake was pretty damned good. They also sell one of the most unnecessarily gluttonous foods ever created for $1--frosting shots! I did not partake in one, but was very tempted. The shop is cute, too, all light blue with some cupcake-themed art on the wall. The one drawback is that there's only one small table inside, so you're more than likely taking your order to go. read more

These cupcakes are really good. I went on a Tuesday which means all cupcakes were 2 dollars each. I got a selection of 4 to try: lemon raspberry, Chocolate raspberry, blackout and chocolate peanut butter. I wish the lemon raspberry was a bit more lemony but the filling and frosting were light and sweet without being overly sweet. The cake of all of them was the perfect consistency and moist. It wasn't light but it wasn't heavy. The blackout was especially moist due to their use of chocolate pudding. Honestly, all were pretty good. I wouldn't call them the best cupcakes ever(something felt lacking, maybe the depth of the flavors?) but in this area they are really good. read more

We visited this location after lunch and the place was empty except for one young lady sitting at the only table in the location - not eating anything and clearly just hanging out. The server behind the counter greeted us but was pushy. We told her needed a minute to which she replied well do you know how many you want. We didn't so we asked for a minute. That did not go over well. She gave us a cupcake and I asked her to cut it to which said there there were utensils we could use. I then asked the girl sitting there if we could sit at the table and she moved over one seat. I then noticed the hair in my cupcake - a blond one - I am a brunette.
