Key Lime Pie (Customer favorite) & Red Velvet (Our Top Seller)
    Adriana G.

The most delicious cupcakes! I visited Berkeley recently after four years, and I had to make a stop for these cupcakes! My absolute favorite is the red velvet. I love how moist the bread is and the frosting is actually really good! The key lime cupcake has got to be my next favorite with a citrusy taste and graham cracker foundation (with a hidden filling inside)! The service is always great and the ambiance is cozy with a delicious smell in the air that welcomes you! Highly recommend!!

I cant believe I'm just finding out about this location. My friend asked if I wanted a sweet treat and we went here. They are so cute and small and bite size. I love that. I tried the carrot cake absolutely delicious and it was so moist. Im not even a key lime kinda girl but the key lime was really good. I also tried the red velvet which Im not a chocolate fan but I could see how someone would love it. I'll definitely be back to try more

So yummy! I love that they have a wide variety of flavors and I also love that they have mini cupcakes!! They're a perfect size and you can try a bunch of the different flavors without getting an entire cupcake. The packaging is really cute too, I like that they have little cupcake holders in the box, that's smart. Pretty good prices, and they do have a bench to sit on inside which I appreciate.

Flavor destruction between key lime and lemon blueberry

I saw a girl walking down the street with two cupcakes (in black) in her hand which made me think "hey, I haven't had or seen a cupcake establishment in a very long time...I cannot miss out on such a chance!" I ordered the key lime (presumably their best seller), lemon blueberry (because I love this combo) and funfetti (as a baseline). I should of have taken the picture of the box but it slipped my mind. I laid this box completely flat driving home. Subsequently, I somehow experienced a flavor disaster with each cupcake on top of each other (worker placed my three cupcakes in separate compartments in a 4 cupcake box and enclosed it with 3 lovely greased thumb prints on top). However, I did take a photo showing the mixing of the lemon blueberry and key lime... Anyways--I do not know if I received a bad batch due to how crumbling and grainy the cupcakes were. The flavors are there but the quality isn't. I miss that well built, well structured cupcake with a crunch on top. Therefore, one star. Very pricey with one cupcake the size between a mini and a full listed at the upwards of more than $4 each (typically $4.50) No one generally lurks or stays in the store but props to the very chic and modern decor! Usually a grab and go. Parking is complicated as it's located in downtown Berkeley. Am I coming back? Uh, no.

I love Cupcakin! My friend introduced me to this wonderful establishment last year and they have the BEST cupcakes I've ever had. Last time I went to the other Berkeley location and noticed there was a larger selection of cupcakes. Regardless, I still enjoyed thoroughly the cupcakes I bought!

Picked up some birthday cupcakes here and they were delicious! We don't usually find flavors like salted caramel at other cupcake shops, and it was our favorite of the ones we tried. We also really liked the key lime pie and red velvet. I like that they're not too sugary sweet.

This review is long overdue. Ordered these for the amazing nursing staff at a local hospital. They looked amazing and they all loved it! They're the cutest and tastiest cupcakes around.

I love cupcakin bake shop, my favorite cupcake shop since the day they opened on telegraph. I used to come here for a quick sweet treat when I went to school at Cal, and my favorites were always the key lime pie and red velvet. The cakes were always so moist and not too sweet, pairing so well with the buttercream frosting. For the first time this past weekend, I tried ordering their full sized cakes for a friend's birthday. I got a custom cake (the heart shaped one with lots of piping) since I've seen these type of cake decorations on instagram and tiktok a lot. When I got to the store to pick up, the cake was ready for me and it was an extremely fast exchange. However keep in mind that the cake is going to be too tall for the box so you can't close the lid all the way or else the frosting will get squished -- so keep that in mind!! When you're transporting it make sure the lid is still popped open slightly. Other than that the cake was super cute and delicious, and I would buy more cakes from here in the future.

Great cupcakes! Cake is moist, frosting isn't achingly sweet. Great flavors. My favorite is key lime pie!

Cupcakin' is such a cute spot for a quick treat for friends or family, but i found the cupcakes a bit too sweet key lime cupcake-- sweet tangy lime flavor & i found this one to be easier to eat than the red velvet. i'd order mini ones of this flavor again! red velvet cupcake-- really really moist with a thickk cream cheese frosting, but the frosting and cake together was an overwhelmingly sweet combo i think the mini cupcakes here are a the perfect portion and found the full-size ones a bit much. stellar service and very attentive when boxing up my cupcakes!!

Wow! Super cute, tidy, and well-stocked cupcake store that offers the traditional flavors like Red Velvet and Carrot, but also vegan and gluten free-free options! I bought 3 cupcakes to bring to a dinner tonight and they were packaged up so nicely and stayed perfectly fresh for 5 hours. They were a hit!! Thank you!! Lovely service, too. She was sweet and helpful.!

Chill service where worker told me to let her know when I was ready so was nice didn't feel pressured to choose fast! I also liked that she asked if I wanted a sticker to close box which I declined to help the environment. I felt like there was a varied amount of cupcake flavors but not so many that was overwhelming! Very good cupcakes where I would purchase again based on flavor. One of the flavors I bought was the the creme brûlée cupcake and tried a bite the next day. It seemed too moist where I wasn't sure if it should have been refrigerated overnight so didn't want to run risk. I'm sure it would have been fine but my gut said to skip it. Perhaps should have called to ask!

We came here on a weekend evening and got cupcakes to eat there. It's nice there's a bench to sit on there but it would be great if there were more benches and maybe a small table. The cupcakes themselves are amazing. I ordered the lemon pie cupcake and there was a nice crispy graham cracker crust which I love. Everyone else loved their cupcakes too. Everyone was super kind and helpful and one staff member asked how we liked the cupcakes. Would definitely come back when I'm in the area.

I arrived around 7:30 and it was empty, but as I was deciding what to get there was a line out the door. Everything looks delicious it was so hard to choose. For myself I got the egg and ham croissant which was so unique and absolutely delicious. A perfect savory treat. I also had a bite of their strawberry-rhubarb breton which was also delicious, kinda like a shortbread cookie with cream and strawberry. The worker was super sweet helping me out and patient as I was struggling on what to order for her and myself. Small shop with meter/street parking.

Their food is generally pretty good: ranging from average (certain seasonal desserts, their ham and…read morecheese croissants, scones) to excellent (toffee cake, almond croissants, certain beads). They are on the pricey side but that's expected in the Bay Area. The reason for the two stars: of the last three times I've been there, they have gotten my order wrong TWICE. Once in a while is totally an acceptable accident but two thirds wrong is really poor service. The workers are nice but not exactly approachably friendly. They take the order in front of the register, receive payment, and then step over to the counter to collect the items. The issue is when you (I) order a lot of stuff, they get collected behind the counter and placed into a large shopping bag so you can't see what you are getting (or not getting). They walk around behind the counter grabbing stuff and those that have paid stand in a small corner away from the purchasing line so it's difficult to see what they do (or don't) pick up. The first time I came home to find my order of half loaf (they sell the large ones by halves, if you want) missing. I brushed it off as an accident. I don't live close enough to go back before they close and I wouldn't have proof anyways. This last time I went, they didn't put in a pastry! At this point, I'm down about $16 and beginning to wonder if it's deliberate. *sigh* So now I have to decide whether I boycott them altogether or only buy one or two items so I can see what I am getting or be the weirdo that takes out every item in a large shopping bag to double check their work. *sigh again*

The bakery itself seems to mainly be a takeout spot, with minimal indoor seating which felt pretty inconvenient given the limited space for customers, however it did seem to serve more of a purpose as a waiting area anyways. The structure of the bakery leaves a bit to be desired as well, as we found the glass display cases as the only form of menu, so being in the front of the line while still deciding what to order caused some unnecessary anxiety. Regardless of those nitpicks, the baked goods themselves were pretty good! Service was instant, and all of the treats looked delicious--it was hard to choose what we wanted! Our favorites were the Thai Tea and Ube Coconut Mochi Donuts. Both had really strong flavors--the Ube in particular was very clear in comparison to most other Ube desserts in my experience. The textures of the mochi donuts were really well done too, with soft exteriors and chewy, glutinous interiors. The same can be said about the Mochi Muffins, though with crunchier parts around the edges. We found the contrast of textures to actually work really well! However, the flavors of the Muffins were lacking a bit--the Red Velvet didn't stand out much, with the frosting tasting a bit too sweet, and while the Five Spice had a really interesting flavor, it was also a bit too sweet, drowning out the more unique citrusy flavor. Overall, however, all four of the goods we had were enjoyable eats, and would definitely return some time to try out other flavors!

We ended up getting three things: * The cheese twist was soooo good! The cheese was flavorful and the pastry itself was perfectly done. * The apple pastry was interesting. Unlike many places where the pastry is either bland or overly sweet, Acme's pastry had a slight saltiness to it, which I actually think is genius. I almost always prefer a hint of savory flavor to balance out the sweetness from the filling or topping. My only issue with this one was that the apple topping was not sweet at all and leaned more tart, so paired with the salty pastry, it was not quite the flavor combination I was hoping for. * The mini raspberry pastry had the same issue for me. The raspberry topping was just a bit too tart and sour for my taste. Even though not everything was a hit for me, I would definitely come back and give this bakery another chance, especially since we arrived so late and missed out on many of their most popular items.
