I have to say, the service at this coffee shop is pretty bad. No matter what COVID regulations you have to enforce, you still should treat the customer well. There is one staff member in particular that should not be working in a customer service setting as she is incredibly rude, aggressive, and moody. I have seen the staff treat customers pretty rudely and have experienced it myself. The coffee is done pretty poorly as well. I would suggest literally any other coffee shop in the area as the staff at other shops were warm, kind in their enforcement of COVID regulations, etc. read more

Loved this place! I was in Norfolk on a short weekend visit - one of my many random trips this summer - and Cure popped on my radar Sunday morning as I was looking for a breakfast spot near my hotel. I walked in just as they were opening and I instantly felt happy. ' There's something so soothing and familiar about Cure. It's a grown-up hipster coffee shop - clean with lots of natural light, simple wood tables and chairs, and a friendly staff behind the bar. I ordered their popular avocado toast with fried eggs and bacon, a side of orange slices, and an espresso shot. As simple as it was, the toast was delicious, with the eggs and bacon fried just right and just a little heat from the red pepper flakes (a nice, original touch). The espresso was OK - it could have been stronger and hotter, but it didn't break the spell. This is just an ideal place to grab a coffee, a little bite, and read or work on your laptop (free WiFi available people). I sat there for 2 hours feeling as happy and relaxed as I wanted to be. Stopped in twice on a recent visit to Norfolk, once for lunch and a pastry and once for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Both savory dishes were excellent. The coffee was fine (though they initially forgot my order of a basic black coffee and I had to go back to ask for it), but the pastry - sort of a brownie cupcake with a cookie baked on top - was kind of stale and underwhelming. So for a coffee shop to get a good review from me, they have to have a few things ... 1) A good chai latte on the menu (Cure's chai did not disappoint!!!) 2) Non-harsh lighting (ya girl hates fluorescent lighting) and 3) Comfy chairs/good cozy vibes (I am currently sitting in the cutest reupholstered gray chair with an antique side table in front of me). Cure is a cute coffeeshop right in the Hampton Roads district. Highly recommended to me but some of the locals, I knew I had to at least stop in on my short visit. The space itself is spacious, with large windows lining the storefront for plenty of natural light. There's plentiful seating and outlets, as well as fast wifi. I ordered the avocado toast (#basic) and a crazelnut (caramel and hazelnut) latté. Everything was delicious! The service was quick and friendly, and I didn't feel rushed by the staff to leave once I finished my food and drink. There's street parking available, and the coffeeshop also shares a private lot with some of the other businesses on the block on the corner of Botetourt and York. Not bad, folks. Hipsters tend to brew the best coffee concoctions, and Cure has hipsters in spades. Service was pretty quick considering the constant flow of people coming in and out, though the overall service experience was pretty blah. I'm not one to need or want excess customer service, but it's ok to make eye contact or say hello. But...hipster baristas! Am I right? The mint mocha was pretty dope. Mint and coffee can only go one of two ways: right or HORRIBLY HORRIBLY HORRIBLY HORRIBLY wrong. Thank the good Lord that this tasted like the former instead of tasting like someone spit their Colgate into my coffee! Anyway, I'll be back. Every time I stop by Cure, I'm never disappointed (from the time I discovered it in high school to now whenever I'm back in my hometown) I always order either the Creme brûlée latte or the Honey Cinnamon one. One of my favorite coffee shops! Brought my boyfriend on Saturday and he was very happy that they used counter culture coffee there. We're huge fans of CC (even made a trip last month for their once a week tasting). He had has safe cappuccino as per usual. I first had the mexi mocha, I've always wanted to try it. Can't really taste the mocha but you can very much taste the Cheyenne going down your throat. A little bit of a burn. Probably won't get it again but I enjoyed the experience. Usually a good spot for coffee and snack or sandwich. Selection is limited and baristas are not that knowledgeable but Cure serves a purpose. Everyone needs a spot like this one in their neighborhood. On this visit they were out of several items. I understand that happens but the response was indifferent at best. Cure is a go-to favorite of mine from the beginning and they keep getting better! I must confess that my drink choice never varies as their chai is the best I have come across! I tend to visit Cure much more during the cooler months so I can sit by the windows, enjoy my chai and usually a bagel while watching Norfolk go by! Cure is such a fun place as there is always a hustle and bustle going on! Many people go there to work, socialize or simply to relax and I have personally done all of the above as well! Besides my typical bagel with butter, I have tried their grilled cheese and it's amazing and another favorite is their red potato salad! Cure also has my favorite chips, sweet potato! Besides having stellar coffee and food, Cure also has music nights, a bar menu and they now have a co-working space that you can pay to use! Nice people but I went there the other day for brunch and I tried the french toast with strawberry basil jalepeno cream cheese and it was not very good. I come here on Thursdays with a local moms group. The staff is always welcoming, the bathrooms are clean and the service is efficient. I really like their house iced tea (black currant) and their baked good selection is always unique and delicious. So many props for this place. First of all, wonderful iced coffee and they use strawless lids which normally I don't love but these are great and never leak! The reason I wanted to write this review though is because they are doing their best with covid-19 regulations and I really appreciate it. This morning I witnessed them following the rules and VERY politely asking someone without a mask to either order online and wait outside or put a mask on. Although the person was less than cooperative they were always polite and stood their ground which made me and the other patrons feel safe. Although it's a little hidden so it makes it harder to locate, it is worth seeking out! Such a quaint, friendly coffee place! The staff are lovely and so personable. You can tell they genuinely love what they do. Love that they offer so many wonderful vegan options as well as several gluten free.
