Actually heard abt this place from our lyft driver who had driven the owner. Theyre gainst store bought liqueur and mixes, and for making their own, they serve some pretty tasty drinks. Summer in st. Tropez really good finish, bramble was eye opening refreshing. Food was really on par with the drinks too. Cuban was ungreasy but not too gourmet. Meatball was wonderful, not too salty and paired with good bread. Area's reminiscent of venice, ca. Decent street parking on Freret st is a plus. read more

As soon as you walk in, you'll be met by the rule police! As I proceeded to carry myself as I would in any bar, I was quickly approached by staff as my friends and I broke the following rules. We were advised that we can't sit with a party more than 6, can't stand with a drink, you have to be sitting with a party that's under the same check, and god forbid you asked, what I would call a mixologist, if they use a frother, you'll get the "it's not our program lecture". This is a nice little hidden place on Freret St. I probably would have missed it if my friend hadn't shown me where the front door was. The place is pretty big with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The booths are very comfortable. Plenty of drinks to order from and they have a happy hour! The service was awesome. We got tap water right away and the server was informative about the menu and had good suggestions. The only downside to the place would be... the lighting. It's so dark and the music is very mellow... Don't go when you're sleepy. You really might fall asleep. Haha! But overall, it is a cute place to catch up with friends to chill and talk. Honestly I think the great review I read was either placed by a p.r. person or an overenthusiastic neighbor. This is great I guess if you need a Freret option for wine bar, but imho it was overpriced and had poor service. The 'happy hour' is mostly a disappointment. Stick to the olives and marcona almonds, which are really a good value. The charcuterie boards are expensive and honestly no better than items you could buy at the nearby Rouse's grocery. Wine was expensive by the glass and run of the mill. Atmosphere mostly locals hanging out, and that means 20-somethings who probably don't know any better. I was in town visiting my family and celebrating my birthday over the long MLK weekend. While in town I met a friend here for happy hour on a Friday. This place is definitely a hot spot because it was CROWDED. Very crowded. Luckily my friend got there early and was able to secure us a table by the window. They do cocktails very well! I had a few whiskey and ginger beer cocktails and they were phenomenal. We ordered the pimento cheese plate to snack on and it was very tasty as well. Cure is nestled on the corner in a lively neighborhood, so it seemed like those who live close by just walk there. Next time I'm in NOLA I'm definitely coming back! read more

Had the champagne and butters which was yummy and also a gin martini straight up with a twist which was delightful!! As a snack we had pickled veggie jar. Those were fabulous!! Food was not very good. Tried to be too cute with their dishes. Sometimes it is best to lean on quality ingredients and not overthink the recipies. Wine list is not very robust. The people bringing the food should have done so with 10 foot poles because they certainly wanted no part of the customers. The patio was full of flies. read more

Scary red head Hostess was extremely rude and ruined my friends birthday- went out of her way to keep coming to us and make us uncomfortable. We walked in around 5 asking for a table of 8. We were told there was a policy that we needed a reservation with a party greater than 6. We asked if we could have two tables of 4 instead and she said she wanted to make sure there was room for other patrons (there were maybe 5 people total in there). We then go online to make a reservation and there was plenty of availability. We go down the street to midway (had a way better experience) and went back for our two separate reservations of 4 each and asked if we could be seated next to each other and were told no. They proceed to seat us as far away from each other as possible and we were surrounded by empty tables so we knew they just wanted to make sure we weren't bear each other. One person from the other reservation came over to tell us more about how the hostess was being rude and clearly talking to other staff about us. The hostess came over to tell her she wasnt allowed to come over to our table because the table next to us was the "only two top left" even though there were three two tops all around us. We left before we ordered because she obviously didnt want us there and made it very clear. Our waitress was very sweet and understanding though! read more

Such a wonderful spot for cocktails in NOLA. The interior is beautiful (especially the insta-worthy bar), service is fast, drinks are delicious, and the bartenders know what they're doing. Their cocktail menu is extensive and their happy hour deal is especially good (5-7pm M-Th, 3-7pm F-Sun) -- can't beat excellent cocktails for $6. They do all the classics well. I've gotten the Moscow Mule and Pimm's Cup a few times and both are great. If you're there after happy hour, try their more unique drinks. They have smaller and larger tables inside and outside on a patio, as well as the bar, so this is a perfect spot for a date or drinks with a small group of friends. There are lots of bars and cool restaurants along Freret, so it's easy to have Cure be one of a few stops. Parking can be a little tricky -- I often drive up and down Freret or try a side street, but you may have to walk a couple blocks. read more

Seriously, can I just move in here? We came because of an adamant recommendation by a friend from the area (do NOT leave Nola without going to Cure. DO NOT.) who is as big into craft cocktails as we are. I've now been here twice, and it has to be my fave craft cocktail place in Nola. The drink menu is fantastic, but the mixologists here are extraordinary and can concoct anything for you. The menu changes with the seasons, which keeps it fresh. They also have a delicious small plates menu for you to snack on while you imbibe. ***This review is only for the cocktails.*** The wife and I decided to work off some of our dinner at Shaya and walk to Cure for post-dinner drinks. Cure was at the top of my list of cocktail places to hit while we were in town. By the time we arrived at the bar around 9PM, we had worked up a thirst. I was immediately taken by its dimly lit space with high-ceilings and a brick and wood interior that looked like it must have been a carriage house long ago in a previous life. We found two seats at the bar giving us a great view of the drinks being made and Cure's impressive array of spirits lined up on shelves up to the ceiling. Looking over the extensive, but not overlong, cocktail menu, I found the descriptions of the drinks to be compelling for their complexity and use of premium spirits, but I also thought the prices were exceedingly reasonable, averaging around $10 for most drinks. I ventured into their Reserve Cocktails selections and had the Bonded Sazerac ($20) made with E.H. Taylor Bonded Rye, Nouvelle Orleans Absinthe, Demerara sugar, and garnished with a lemon peel. Even though it was a busy Friday night, the bartender made my drink with precision and obvious pride in his craft. While it was easily the priciest drink I had over our weekend visit to town, it was also easily the best Sazerac to ever make it past my lips. It was high-proof booziness, but exceptionally well-balanced, hitting all of the notes that I expected/hoped to find. In my mind, I received much better value and enjoyment from Cure's rendition of a Sazerac than the one I had at the Sazerac Bar for $15. I'll leave it to my wife to describe her experience and her take on the Ghosts of My Life #4 ($11), but from the sip I had of her drink, I'd say it, too, was a winner. Cure may be somewhat off of the beaten track for out-of-towners, but it's a definite must for true cocktail lovers. While I wouldn't always walk a mile (or more) for a good drink, Cure was truly worth the time and effort. read more

I usually wait for reviews until after i've been a few times. But I think this place deserves a review now. i was warned that the food can be a bit pricey, which is true. I ordered the Cheesecake with pomegranate sauce. So good and creamy, and large enough to share even if you are a piggy (which i can attest to being every now and then.) - about $8. The chilled corn soup with vidalia onion relish was really good - about $5 for a cup size- but really worth the money. very good and refreshing. People in our group ordered a few other things, and they said it was all yummy. I arrived during happy hour, and thus only ordered from the happy hour cocktail menu. They offer pimm's cup, sazerac, some sort of monkey/mule named drink, some sort of house white and red wine, and about 2-3 more drink options. I started with a Pimm's and it had a bit more juice than i would have preferred, but it was a good way to start the night. Next, I didn't know what a sazerac was, so I ordered that. After a sip, i knew it wasn't my kind of drink, all whiskey with a splash of other stuff. I passed it onto a friend who loved it. I finished my hour with another pimm's cup. Fresh off the high of an amazing dinner at Brigtsen's on our last night in NOLA, we ended the evening with drinks at Cure, also located uptown. Cure came via a recommendation from a bartender in NYC who is also a NOLA transplant. In the past year, my standards for cocktails rose at a breathtaking rate, and having spent considerable time at some of the best bars NYC has to offer, I was unsure what to expect in NOLA. I've been pleasantly surprised, first at Carousel Bar, then much more so at French 75. And on this night, Cure eclipses these; indeed, its as wonderful an experience as my favorites in NYC. Housed inside an old firehouse, it has a small footprint but feels spacious by high ceilings, with a handsome modern decor of exposed brick walls and sleek woods. The long, beautiful bar is backlit by shelves of liquor; seating also available in some leather banquettes, and a nice patio out back that we saw on our way to the entrance. My companion came determined to try their version of a Ramos gin fizz, and it was a delight to watch our bartender make it. Purportedly, the original version required furious shaking for 12 minutes to properly froth and emulsify the egg white; while I don't think our bartender was at it that long, he did, as my companion understated, "shake the heck out of it." The result was a frothy textured drink, from which emerged cool, subtle citrus flavors. Between themselves, my companions ordered all the classic NOLA cocktails so I went with drinks from Cure's small, cocktail list, first Waiting to Derail (Rittenhouse Rye, Amaro Abano, Grapefruit, Lemon, Angostura Bitters) then Flora Italia (Barsol Primero Pisco, St. Germain, Demerara Sugar, Angostura Bitters, Grapefruit Peel). It is such a pleasure to enjoy cocktails so layered in flavor and balanced in taste. Our bartender made a wonderful Vieux Carre and Sazerac. Cure seems to attract an older clientele (i.e., 30+), expected if you consider who is more likely to appreciate the level of cocktail they make. Non-touristy and sophisticated, this is a wonderful cocktail bar on par with some of the best I've been to. Priced low for the quality you get, at $9 - 10 for most, but I am also used to NYC prices. Our bartender was professional and skillful, and frankly surprised me by coming out to hold the door for us as we departed. Did you know that Cure is not just a cocktail bar, but a restaurant, too? And they're open every day! No closing-in-honor-of-the-New-Orleans-Sabbath (Monday) for them. It's awesome to know that you can count on a place being open, when so many businesses here are usually closed one or two days a week. Totally understandable, of course, but Cure is just more hardcore than that. In general, I think I'm more of a wine person than cocktail aficionado, so I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go to Cure if it's just drinks I'm after. However, their food is another story entirely. Their menu changes pretty regularly, from what I can tell, and everything on it lately (well, that I've tried, at least) has been spectacular. The service ranges from good to great; everyone is friendly and helpful (though the bartenders certainly stay busy making complicated cocktails). And the food. OMG the food. Amazing. My only minor disappointment here is the lack of heavily caffeinated options. Occasionally, I need caffeine more than booze and food combined, especially when I'm planning to be somewhere for a while. Such a pretty, fancypants bar, I expected espresso or cappuccino, but no coffee at all. Settled for diet coke. Would've taken a sugar free Redbull, too, but no luck. But of course, their expertise is absolutely in the realm of cocktails. You can just tell the bartender what kind of liquor you like, and he (in this case Kirk) can totally make you something fabulous off menu. Everything on-menu is fabulous, too! Your options are pretty much limitless. If you're one for high-end cocktails, you won't be disappointed. Whatever you do, though, definitely try their food. You won't regret it. read more

I love a good cozy bar and Cure is definitely one of those to go to. With a chill setting and dim lighting for a night of cocktails and chatter it will surely be a good time. You step into this bar and the wall full of bottles will make your mouth water. Either sit in a booth or right at the bar. There is also a nice patio with seating as well. Not too loud and everyone tends to keep to themselves for nice and intimate conversations. Cure is known for their cocktails and the list was full of uniquely named drinks. Mixtures that sounded delicious and made me curious to try everything. The menu is always changing and at this time I went it was the Winter Cocktail list. I had to order the Sparkle Pony for that kick of Chai flavor in the wine mixture. For Whom The Sun Rises was also an interesting grapefruit and maraschino combination with a bitterly addicting aftertaste. Unfortunately they ran out of the "Misty Day" cocktail in memory of American Horror Story, oh how i was wishing to taste that coconut chocolate concoction, maybe next time. Bar food is not to fill you up, but this constantly changing menu here also offers nice bites. I tried the steak tartare and though raw meat usually scares me, it was quite enjoyable. Happy hour is from 5 to 7pm and the prices are much reasonable then with a select list for $6 each drink. Though I would still get one of their special cocktails to mix it up a bit. Cure is a place I could definitely see myself frequenting, but since prices are expensive the happy hour would have to be the right time. read more

Recently revisited this bar and I forgot how much I like this place! Reminds me of Restoration Hardware ambiance a lot. Leather couches, industrial fixture, great low light with candles everywhere. It is a bar to stop by when you just need and want that fancy and classy night. They do have a happy hour (I believe it ends before 6) but most of their cocktails run about $10ish. I had Bramble and another one that had Apricot liquor in it but I enjoyed both of them very much. It definitely was not some cocktails from usual bars where the bartenders disguise alcohol by adding sugary stuff. Come hang out with your friends, co-workers, dates, or even your parents. Suitable for people who want to enjoy the nice ambiance and great drinks in rather a chill environment. P.s: their cocktails are... masterpieces. read more

IN A NUTSHELL my 1st impression: Loud, Over-priced, Waspy-crowd. I remember hearing about this place, and its "cool" "yuppy" enviroment with great drinks from my Tulane days. I never did get a chance to pay it a visit then. But one night a few yrs later, my girlfriend and I decided we wanted to have a night-cap after dinner, we were in the area, and decided to head to Cure. When we arrived, it was loud and packed. There was a boucer at the door, I suppose for security reasons, because he wasn't collecting an entry fee (which was great!). Anyways...walking in, there were tables with candles lit, an entire wall devoted to every lushes alcohol preference. But where were we going to sit, the tables full with what appeared to be friends socializing over conversations that didn't seem to be ending anytime soon. The bar was crowded, people sitting, people standing...I had to wiggle my way in just to place my order, which seemed like it would never happen, because the bartenders wouldn't pay me any mind. When I finally captured the attention of the bartender, I ordered two glasses of pinot grigio, which came to $26. My girlfriend and I managed to squeeze together on one of the wrap-around cushion sofas to sip on our glasses, which was so uncomfortable. I guess I can add this place falls short of gentlemen, because although they glance at you, they never once offer you their seat. I don't know what else to say, we finished the drink and then we left. BTW...I do have something else to say, the hanging picture of a cockroach's anatomy is totally totally the most grotesque image I want to see while trying to enjoy a cocktail. With an EXTENSIVE cocktail menu, "reserve" drink temptations and carefully selected food menu, this sexy little jewel is at the top of the NOLA crown. This just wasn't the spot for me. It is very dark, cold, very loud and pricey for what you get. We were eventually moved to the outside garden seating and that was a huge improvement. Although the drink was small (more of a shot then a martini) it was excellently made. We ordered a cheese plate that had really nice cheese, but it was 3/4 baguette and 1/4 cheese at a price that should have been 3/4/ cheese and 1/4 baguette. All and all-I wouldn't return. read more

Cure is about a 1/2 mile from my house so I drive by all the time. And the crowds of glitterati (or what attempts to pass for it in NOLA) made me think Cure wasn't my sort of establishment. Well, it turns out I was wrong. I know shocking. I went on a weekday after work for a benefit for a New Orleans charter school. The after work crowd was friendly and a good mix of ages. I had a glass of their fall sangria (because I got a free glass) and it was really tasty and delicious. My friends sampled a variety of cocktails and deemed them all well made. Well, except for the unusual presentation of the Old Fashioned which should have been labeled a New Fashioned. What no muddling? And I LOVE the building and that it is no smoking indoors. read more

Cure is a very trendy and hip bar located in Uptown New Orleans on Freret. They recently won a James Beard Award for their mixology program, so they can get crowded. They have an extensive, creative cocktail list, but I usually go during their happy hour and order their classic cocktails at happy hour prices. My favorite is the Pimm's Cup- it is very light and refreshing with a cucumber taste. Cure has a small food list and they are not a place you would go for a hearty meal. They cater to a more upscale crowd here, so it much more calm than other bars nearby that cater to mostly university students. They have a lovely and partially secluded outdoor seating area with numerous tables, also. I enjoy taking visitors to New Orleans to Cure to start off the night with some cocktails. read more

Aesthetically, it is an attractive bar. An almost unnoticeably plain exterior (the first time we drove past it) opens into a handsomely-designed, high-ceiling interior, boasting both a refined yet cozy atmosphere. What about the cocktails? Do you wish to try some interesting "mixology"? Do you actually enjoy partaking in the flavor of fine alcohol? Then look no further you have stepped into the perfect saloon. If however, you are a connoisseur of artificially flavored, sugary concoctions which bare little semblance to refined alcohol... leave, immediately, do not pass go, do not collect excellent taste, head for Bourbon Street. I can't speak to the food as we only had drinks. We tried several drink menu selections, all of which were quite interesting. I suggest visiting at happy hour when the 'craft cocktails' are less pricy - venture out and try a few. The crowd seemed a bit 'clannish'. Haughty as opposed to hipster. This may not be the friendliest bar, and the regular patrons may not welcome 'outsiders', but if you are looking for a cozy, stylish joint to share a cocktail with your own much friendlier classier crew.... head on over to Cure. read more

Located away from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street is a classy bar and one of my favorites in the city. The bartenders here know their stuff and you can get any number of fancy cocktails poured for you. Know they specialize in dark liquors so whiskey and scotch are king and the drink menu clearly shows that. We were lucky enough to get a table outside on the ever so cool patio. The service was quick, and the drinks delicious. I chuckled a little at the restrooms as they are sort of in the next building . . .made me feel like I was going in the wrong place but they bathrooms are as clean and modern as the rest of this place. There's nothing quirky attached to this, such as having to buy reservation tickets beforehand or a secret password. It's vibe is all about enjoying the moment. We sat outside during a warm early summer night. It was a bit too cold for us inside. I remember R ordering 2 different kinds of old fashioneds, the latter having a stronger liquor. I got the Bee's Knees (I believe). Really good. And then the soda-like one. The servers were nice and knowledgeable.
