This is not only one of the best craft cocktail bars in the US but it's started the whole scene down here in New Orleans. Cure is also located on Freret Street in uptown New Orleans and was one of the first new businesses to anchor what is now a food and small business renaissance on Freret St. They always have a ton of new drink specials and the atmosphere and space is comfortable yet super sleek and modern. They also have a pretty extensive bar menu with food and I know have changed chefs recently but I haven't eaten there in awhile usually because it's a post dinner spot for drinks and fun. read more

The place is lovely, low-key, a little pretentious but not TOO pretentious, quite good food and the bartenders are knowledgeable and more than competent. Service was impeccable. And now I know where all the hot guys in New Orleans go for drinks, so you can bet I'll be going back to Cure. Cure is a pricey place, without a doubt, but what you get is worth it. The bartenders here understand what makes a cocktail, the way ingredients come together. The results are singular flavors, not the muddled and syrupy sweet mess that passes for a cocktail just about everywhere else in this city. I went on a Sunday night and the place was fairly empty, so I had a chance to talk with the staff. Everyone was friendly, and the bartenders seemed like real professionals. Of course things are probably different on a crowded Friday night, where the attention to detail could result in long waits. When they say small plates they mean it, the food is good (I had the crab salad sandwich), and the menu carefully designed, but it's not enough for dinner. Love. I couldn't leave NOLA without having a well-crafted cocktail and CURE didn't disappoint. Now, before I proceed with this review. I am not a cocktail expert, but do appreciate a good drink. The place itself is off the beaten path and we ended up taking the trolley car and walking down some residential streets to get here. It's situated on a main road. Once you walk in - you have shelves of liquor adoring the walls. There's a few tables, booths, bar seating and patio seating. We opted for a booth but later moved to the bar to chat it up with the bartender. They have an extensive cocktail menu and also a pricier drink menu (I can do no justice describing this as I mentioned I am not a cocktail expert). I opted to ordering off the menu and having an aviation. The bartender did a great job - I like gin based drinks and this is the only I know that's traditional. Boyfriend ordered a drink of the menu with scotch and orange. A very citrus-y drink, he thought it was too much orange HAHA. I personally didn't like it. His second drink option was especially made by the bartender - he wanted a whiskey drink but not with much citrus. The bartender created his own concoction of a Jack Rose but with Whiskey. Delicious! Haha, I don't like whiskey, but this was awesome. All in all great bar to have a wonderfully crafted cocktail. We went on a Sunday evening so it wasn't crowded. If you are looking for a chill place that has a beautiful bar, extensive cocktail list, and friendly service this is the place to be. A group of us strolled in on a Thursday night and sat down. We ordered a variety of cocktails from the bar as well a some pork rinds and a charcuterie plate, everything was great. The drinks at Cure are really, really good. I mean the food is decent, but you come to Cure for the drinks. I'm talking about their cocktails. Also, the atmosphere is pretty cool. The interior is decorated really well, and in general everyone here is attractive and well dressed. You can sit at the bar or cozy up on some of their nice leather couches. If you don't want to spend $10 for a good cocktail, then don't come here, but if you don't mind it, then this is the place to come. read more

Gorgeous, intimate little bar. Great semicircle booths for larger parties. The drinks are way unique -- albeit pricey. The bartenders are great mixologists and good at suggesting things for you if you let them know what you like. Love that they bring you water right away too. The outdoor seating is really nice with a lot of greenery, especially if you're there when they turn the lights on. Hard to find a bar in New Orleans that has a vibrant atmosphere, makes great drinks, and is also CLEAN!!.. but Cure hits the spot. What an excellent bar! It has a pretty hoppin' vibe without feeling too much like a club. The drinks are spot-on, the staff ridiculously nice and informed and the snacks are delicious. Really cool bar with a great whiskey/bourbon selection. They had the most bottles of the hard to find Pappy van winkle Rye...this was 4 months ago and I'm sure there supply was gone down a bit. Cocktails were well mixed. The bartender was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We ran into him the next day at the hotel modern where we were staying. This is definitely a do-not-miss experience of New Orleans. We ended up arriving there on our first day in the city just as they were opening (which I HIGHLY recommend doing as it tends to get very crowded) and started with some awesome happy hour punch, followed by two other well crafted cocktails. The White Witch was one my favorites, the flavors meld together really well, and the prices are still a steal compared to NYC cocktail bars. Also I highly recommend ordering the Truffled Cauliflower & Green Pea Pesto Crostini and Curried Crab Sandwich - they were both terrific. Since we came in so early, we had not only our lovely bartender providing us recommendations on other destinations in the city, but also the other bartenders looking over his shoulder and adding their two cents. Overall I would give Cure a 8.75/10. The bartenders were great and my rum old fashioned for $6 during happy hour was smooth and full and tasted like a proper cocktail. Worst. Service. Ever. We arrived at 10:30 last night and sat on the patio. 15 minutes later someone finally took our drink order, and neglected to ask one of the people at our table. He went to the bar and came back with a cocktail while we continued to wait for ours. 15 minutes later our drinks finally arrived. Waitress never returned until we finally got her attention at 11:30 to ask for our check. Took 45 minutes to close our bill. Had they been slammed I would have understood but, they weren't. Almost 2 hours for one drink... I'm local and won't go back. Sure, my drink was tasty but too many other places that have equally delicious cocktails where you actually get service.
