This is really cheap, and really fast, food. Or, if not quite "food", at least edible substances, covered in life-sustaining grease.

It should never take 5 minutes to order at the counter of a diner. My eggs arrived and look tasteless, greasy and boring - it didn't disappoint. Lots of regulars there but not people who looked like they had an ounce of taste. Spare yourself. read more

I always stop in on my way North or South on I-95, or if I need to stay in town before going to NYC. There's a good reason to stop in... they remember me, and the food is plentiful, and reasonably priced. To really make your day, if you are into watching other people, go here. From top to bottom, City Officials, Cops, homeless, travellers... everybody. You should hear the stories about the fight with the city! The won... big time. If the public weren't behind them 100%, they would have closed long ago... but this is a great place. I have enjoyed many fine meals here, and I appreciate what a "rebel" the owner is or was in keeping this place open in the face of rabid, nasty urban development that wanted to put him out of business. I had a grilled chicken sandwich from Curley's Diner Wednesday night and by Thursday afternoon I had the worst food poisoning known to man. I was vomiting blood and had to be hospitalized until Friday morning. This place should be shut down!! Not safe to eat here. read more

I normally don't write reviews but I feel I have to warn any out of town travelers visiting to avoid this place at all cost. This is the worst burger and chili cheese fries I've ever had. The chili seems like it's just the gunk they've scraped off the grill and the burger was extra crispy. The staff was friendly and all but the food was just terrible. read more

I was a bit skeptical as we approached- Curley's looks like it's falling down and is covered with mismatched and peeling siding. Some people seemed really hard on this review. Old school diner, cute as hell with great prices, fun and eclectic cast of characters both staff and customers based on the hour we were there, and pretty good food. It was late afternoon and there were a few people in the diner. All seemed to be interacting with the waitstaff and amongst themselves. We joined right in. Fun atmosphere that even resorted to my wife and the manager looking at pictures of kids, dogs and god knows what else! The waitress was eating the grilled pork chops and recommended them. They were ok 2-3 stars no Capitol grille but I think they were like $11 Decent salad made way better by adding feta dressing, mashed potatoes more than fine, and a really tasty pita bread. My wife did the pancakes, tasty home made good portion. Excellent diner coffee, and home made rice pudding with real whipped cream. Would def go back, and to be fair the fourth star is all about it being a fun throwback, rather than top notch food. Very worth trying. I will go again when we are out this way. read more

Curley's is very basic when it comes to decor and the breakfast menu choices. The food was decent but there is no vibe but hey its a 24/7 diner with a very interesting clientele. I would have given this place another star if it wasn't for some annoying regular who encroached on my personal space who literally walked from one end of the counter to the other where I was sitting to reach over me to get some jelly almost causing an altercation. I guess he was so called trying to let me know I was in his spot but where I from I just call it plain rude.. If this regular is indicative of the others I say when you eat here be prepared for some very bad manners. People are being incredibly critical. Curley's is a 24 hour diner located near clubs. What are you expecting to find? High class socialites with their heads up their asses eating divine foods? No! You'll find cops, drunken clubbers, sassy waitresses, presumable hookers and homeless people, and little old me drinking a coffee. I mainly eat here because A. Watching everyone is fascinating, and B. I've really grown to like their greasy food and LOVE their coffee. I know the coffee is probably just store brand, but they've gotten me hooked. Curley's is much more mundane and family friendly from the hours of 9 to 4. After that, however, kids should probably stay away. Unless you want them to learn a whole new plethora of swear words. Personally, I love Curley's diversity, constant goings ons, and commitment to serve anyone who can afford a meal. The owners are kind, and the woman who co owns it always smiles and greets me. People have given up on Curley's, and presume that just because they sometimes serve shady characters, they're not worth your time, well let me tell you, it is. Great breakfast, great people, amazing time. Would highly recommend this place for a nice cup of coffee and a cheap breakfast. This place has been around this the early 40s so it has some interesting history. It has been owned by Maria Aposporos since the early 70s and even earned a reward from the city for her service. By far the worst place I've ever ate. Waitress was wearing open toe sandals, don't serve waffles daily (even though it says they do on the menu,) lady taking my order didn't listen to what I ordered and then forgot something. The waitresses were very unprofessional by having a conversation back and forth to each other from across the diner. I love Curley's! It is an institution in downtown Stamford - easy to find parking - that has been there forever, and is open 24/7. The feisty sisters who own it fought the city in its attempt to take their property. Now you can see what is being built around their diner.. Bravo! for standing up. Two people can have a good dinner for about $25 or less including a generous tip. Have one of the traditional Greek dishes, or a burger for lunch, or a great breakfast. read more

Very truly old school (i.e., iceberg lettuce). Main Street Stamford to my surprise has nothing to do with insurance company headquarters and big bank offices. It is a dumpy comforting serene oasis.
