As an Indian, I was fascinated to try out an Indian restaurant in the United States. Consequently, I, along with my friends, decided to visit Curry Corner, which is less than a five minute walk from my apartment, to have dinner. I walked into the restaurant at around 7:15 pm and it was nearly jam packed. Entering into the restaurant, I found the ambiance to be decent, not too luxurious and not too bad. The restaurant had a good amount of lighting and proper seating arrangements for the customers. Once seated, we went through the menu and I decided to order the non veg thali, tandoori chicken tikka, and Lassi(it's a traditional yogurt drink). It is at this time that we were beginning to lose our patience as no servers came to take our order. Basically speaking, the restaurant service was POOR as we had to WAIT for nearly 20 MINS just so that we could place our order. The server, however, was very helpful and kind to us. Finally, it was time to taste the dishes that we ordered. The quality of food in the non veg thali was AMAZING!!! The Thali consisted of chicken makhni, chicken achari, daal lentil, rice, and Indian bread. Each bite of the dish gave an out of the world feeling as the taste did match with what you would have found in India. Tandoori chicken tikka was also great, I had decided to taste this as per suggestions in the reviews. The Lassi, however, wasn't good at all. I would suggest anyone visiting curry corner to not try it at all.  Speaking of the portion of the dishes, I can say that it was worth the money. I paid $13 for the thali, $13 for the chicken tikka, and $4 for the Lassi(spending on Lassi is what I regret). All in all, I can say that the restaurant is WORTH a visit. The only complaint that I have about Curry corner is sloppy service. If they work on this, a visit to Curry Corner is just going to be amazing. read more

Not having had an opportunity to savor Pakistani Cuisine since moving to the Valley a few years back, we were intrigued at discovering the existence of Curry Corner and made our way there recently. This non-conspicuous, quaint and unassuming eatery we found nicely quiet, subtly appointed and with demure surroundings comfortable. Their menu being quite extensive, provoked our extended perusal and difficult. Our selections ended up being very, very good renditions of similar, yet not quite the same and well known Middle-Eastern (South Asian) and Indian fare - understanding that this region of the world share many styles, ingredients as well as cultural resemblances, we looked for appreciating the most traditional possible Pakistani fare. We decided on and started with a fabulous smooth and tasty Mango Lassi (a traditional Pakistani beverage made with yogurt, milk, ice, and sugar, with a splash of Mango). Once finished going through their menu, we proceeded to our appetizers consisting of Samosas, crisp pastries stuffed with an incredible spicy blend of potatoes and peas, as well as Aloo Tikki being lightly spiced potato and green pea soft patties with a light exterior crispiness which are apparently shallow-fried in sunflower oil. Our mains comprised of Chicken Tikka Masala: A subtle rendition of the Indian Favorite, in Pakistani fashion with a delicate curry sauce, milder spices and prepared in the traditional tandoori grill. The boneless chicken grilled and then simmered in a very, very creamy Masala sauce. We also enjoyed a Fresh Karahi: a most typical of Pakistani dishes, that is freshly prepared with tender Bone-in chunks of Mutton (Goat - a fave of mine!) cooked with onions, diced and whole tomatoes, noticeable yogurt and ginger, coriander, julienned garlic, and their homemade spices which to my figuring included garlic; Salt and black pepper; bay leaves; possibly soybean oil; red chili; butter; cardamom; cilantro; and spicy hot Green chiles - not to mention Karahi sauce typically made with: ghee; garlic cloves, coriander seeds, red chilies, onions, fresh root ginger, green chilies, tomatoes, salt, dried lime leaves and especially garam masala. Needless to say, if you have not tried Pakistani, and enjoy this area's culture and cuisine, this is the place to have it, if you're familiar with it, this should be your next stop. Curry Corner is definitely NOT curry in a hurry! We entered the restaurant and were told to sit wherever we wanted. So, we took a cozy little corner booth since we were at a Curry Corner. It took some time for a server to come by, and we ordered a wrap and the vegetable thali. After another stretch of time the server came by again saying they didn't have the wraps available today. So, the chicken keema ended up being the alternative choice. It took a loooong time for our meals to get served to us, but they did look delectable. My vegetable thali plate had lentil/dal, spinach/palak, vegetable handi, chikpeas/chole, with a generous heap of rice and a piece of freshly baked naan. I enjoyed all the dishes on my plate and the naan was a good balance of crisp outer layer with soft inner portion. The rice was well cooked, nice and fluffy. I also had a bite of the chicken keema which seemed a bit bland to me. I had asked for a soda but since service was nearly non-existent and I was doubting I would even get any refills if I had gotten my drink we asked them to take it off our bill once we went up to the register to pay. Very disappointed! The place was busy which I now wonder why/ how as food was not good at all! The service was even worse than the quality of food. We were 3 people and the server brought only 2 plates, had to wait good 10-15 minutes and when no one showed up, we had to wave at him to grab his attention to come to our table to bring us another plate. We'd seen this place before, but this time the restaurant we planned to visit was closed(!!). So we walked over here. Some interesting dishes on the menu that I am not familiar with. I like that. We ordered chicken rajisthani, hara masala chicken, and samosas. The samosas were of a reasonable size, and they give three of them. They were very tasty. Simple, but tasty. The other dishes were served like stews in bowls. The portions were reasonably large. The flavors of each were unique. I've never had either before. I liked them both. Very good. We were pleased with our choices. This will be on our short list of places to visit when we want sub-continent food (Indian/Pakistani). read more

Such delicious food for crazy cheap! Got the Junglee Pakora, the Potato Samosas, the Chicken Tikka Tandoori, and Beef Nehari all for $35. What a steal. Came with some of the best, fluffiest naan I've ever had. Highly recommend their chicken and beef entrees, as it's so well seasoned and juicy. I didn't know this place existed, but upon a recent visit to Phoenix, I had Food Network playing in the background at the hotel, and this restaurant was featured on Guy Fieri's show, so we decided to check it out. Large parking lot with plenty of space, and spacious seating inside the restaurant (*a lot* of people were ordering takeout, the waiter barely kept up with online orders streaming in, so the kitchen gets busy). The menu was extensive and the food was phenomenal. For one, I've never particularly liked naan bread - it's too bland and soggy at other places I've tried, but at Curry Corner, when it's prepared right on the spot, it's fluffy, savory, just incredible. Some of the dishes are fairly unique - not many other Tempe spots feature goat. Portions are generous, and the waiting service was attentive and helpful. Non vegetarian thali is good, the chicken makhani was nice. My freinds always want to come here for this thali. Pricing is very affordable especially for college students. However the vegetarian food is ok not that great or special. My friend ordered the paneer tikka masala and was very disappointed with it. I could taste the raw tomato in the gravy and it had very few pieces of paneer. During my last visit too, I wasnt very keen on the food here or returning. Another turn off was we were close to the closing time and one guy started sweeping and wiping the floor when there were people with five tables full around! Personal milestone: 100th review! This review is long overdue because I love Curry Corner and have been coming here for five years now, long before I was writing reviews on Yelp. I've been here dozens of times. The food takes me back to some of the Pashtun food I ate when I was in the Paktika Province of Afghanistan, the flavors are so rich and hearty. When you come here you have to order the Tikka Masala fries, they're crazy good!!! My favorite dishes are the Goat Haleem and the Karahi, omg they are so rich in flavor and the stew in the Goat Haleem is addictive! Their rice is always very good, as is their naan (if you like garlic their garlic naan is amazing). I've also had their chicken tikka masala which is really good but they make goat so good here that it's usually what I always order. As long as Curry Corner is open, I'll be a patron. I would like to preface this review with a 2 quick things: my family had highly recommended this place because of how good their tikka masala fries are and I'm not much of a spicy type person. I ordered the Chicken Makhani, under the recommendation by our server because I asked what is the least spicy. Before the recommendation, I asked if I could have the tikka masala non-spicy. (Dumb me! Indian food uses one base, so I can't change that lol) I got my food pretty fast, considering I was with a party size of 10. I was very happy with the flavors of my dish. Even though it was spicy, the creamy sauce and garlic really came through for me. I ate all of my food plus some of my family members. I found the naan super delicious as well! It was freshly made and well seasoned. Our server was nice and accommodated our large group with ease. I recommend this place if you are looking for something different on the dinner table. Food is great, very authentic and huge portions. But the service is a little bit lacking. Came here to get some Indian Pakistani food and was impressed by the prices and the value we got. We ordered a vegetarian masala and a chicken masala to share. All the dishes were very authentic flavorful and tasty. we got a side order of rice and naan, the naan was perfect. The Musala fries was loaded with sauce and cheese, surely will give you a nice heart attack, but do not worry about that when the flavors are exploding in your mouth. The lamb Punjabi Handi was also very tasty and full of flavors, but the lamb meat was overcooked and very dry. For $9, it was a good deal. I also got the sweet lassi, which is the yogurt drink and loved it. I have now been back to Curry Corner a few times & must update my review! After trying out a variety of items like the paneer tikka masala, vegetable hundi, etc. I found the hidden gem .. the Chicken Makhni! Most Indian restaurants serve their curries with rice, or nothing at all, so I'm happy to be able to be able to pick one or the other depending on my mood. Both taste equally good with but I prefer the soft yet crispy naan! The portion size of their dishes is large enough that I normally have some for dinner & the rest for lunch. This place in on my way home from work so I often stop by to pick up a to-go order. They have it ready within 15 to 20 minutes. It's always piping hot & remains that way until I drive home. I like Indian food. I like Mediterranean food. But I've never had both on the same plate in the same meal! The Arabic Thali at Curry Corner (made famous by an appearance on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives) came not only with the typical rice, naan, and curries, but also their homemade hummus! Ok, a dollop of hummus on a thali plate doesn't really make this a "fusion" meal, but hey--where else can you say that you've dipped naan bread into your hummus? The thali also came with a yellow-colored chicken makhani, a red-colored chicken tikka masala, yellow/orange-colored biryani rice, raita, and a simple salad of lettuce, tomato, and red onion. My favorite component of the plate was the chicken makhani, which had a creamy consistency and went nicely with the rice (which despite its color was rather plain), and the freshly-baked puffy/chewy naan. Overall, however, the flavors of the curries seemed a bit toned down and weren't the least bit spicy (though each table came with a bottle of Sriracha sauce to remedy that!). In addition to the thali, I also tried the Grill Sizzler, which came with chicken boti kabab, chicken tikka, and seekh kabob on a sizzling plate. Each of these meats was juicy and flavorful, and everything went nicely with the caramelized onions/peppers that came on the plate! Overall, this was a nice casual restaurant in a nondescript strip mall, and everything came at a reasonable price! And again, this is probably the only Indo-Pak restaurant for miles around where you'll find hummus on the menu! read more

I've eaten here twice, and the waiters seemed to be heavily invested in my satisfaction and enjoyment. They helped me pick something I would like off the extensive menu. They seated me graciously and provided attentive service. They were patient with me as I asked them about various menu items. Tikka masala Sauce Taste 6/10 not really a full flavor (imagine knowing you're eating tikka masala and have an idea how it tastes, then plug your nose. You taste it, but it's not really a full flavor). Texture 6/10 watery compared to other tikka masalas Heat 6/10 spice level was not requested upon ordering. The natural heat wasn't bad, but for somone adverse to spicy food, it could be. My favorite local Indian cuisine! I've been coming here regularly for the past 3 years to get my Indian food fix and it does the job! I typically order the Chicken Tikka Masala which is creamy and flavorful with tender chicken! You have your choice of normal Naan or rice. I typically order rice and get a side of garlic naan! Use the Naan to scrap every last bit of your meal. Yum! Occasionally I'll order the mango Lassi. If you're new to Indian food this is a thick yogurt drink with mango flavor. It's very good but they usually fill me up so be sure to drink them slow so you have room for your meal. The restaurant itself is in a not so appealing strip mall but the interior is nice and usually clean. Seating is open so feel free to pick a table and the staff with be with you shortly. I'm not sure why this place is so popular in Tempe when it is so inconsistent? While shopping we asked a couple of people at different stores where they'd recommend in Tempe for Indian food and one was quick to suggest this place and hailed it as the best Indian food in the state. Best in the state? I'll roll the dice. After all I got a side of roaches the last time I went to Flavors, but that's a story for another day. We go here and the restaurant itself is nice. Our waiter was cool and recommended some nice appetizers and asks us how spicy we want our curry. We've tried very spicy curry before and we love it at 8 or 9 on 1-10. Well curry corner does 1-5. Cool 4 we say. We're expecing pretty spicy but nope must have been a 1 on 1-5. Not spicy at all! We let our waiter know and all he could do was apologize. No offer to switch it just says "sorry guys" and walks to the back. ‍ We brush off the experience as a wonky day and decide we'd give it another try at a future date maybe a day it was less busy. Fast forward six months later and we come back to Curry Corner. Again we complement the decor and service. Again we tell the waiter we'd like our curry spicy and order a 5 on 1-5. The waiter goes as far to say "woah you guys like it real spicy, not a problem!" AGAIN we were disappointed because the curry we received was not spicy! Mind you this was a different waiter than our first time here, we tell him our food was not spicy and thus we did not enjoy it like we had hoped. He looks at me square in the eye and says "sorry" while grabbing my plate that still had food on it and walks away with it. He returns maybe ten minutes later with the check and leaves it on the table as he just walks away. If you've read this far you can probably tell I'll never go back. The service is in fact horrible, the food is inconsistent and they have no idea what spicy Indian food is I'm open for other suggestions on good Indian food in Phoenix because ive tried the place hailed as the "best" and was let down twice. read more

Easily, the BEST Indian food I have EVER had! The service is always hit or miss... But for the food, it's always worth it... ALWAYS!!! My go to dish is the Chicken Hara Masala! It's SOOO spicy. SOOO savory. And SOOO yummy. I prefer it with Nann, as opposed to rice, but that's because I will eat both and I prefer Nann... However, I can eat the plain rice by itself, and be content - that's how damn good this place is! This is easily the best place in Tempe! read more

Took my dad there yesterday,he is visuting from Austin, and what a pathetic experience. Low staffed place, filthy environment, food is ok, BUT they overcharged us beyond the menu prices written saying that they have changed prices in the cash register but not on menu. Unbelievable!!!!!!! We ordered 3 dishes, chicken pieces and chapal kabobs $10 each for two of them and Nihari $13 for one. When she took my card she charged $60. Breakdown Dishes were charged $15, $13 and $12 saying price increase IN REGISTER not on menu. Then we got charged for Tawa paratha that never came. Then she added 15% tip herself. SCAMMERS!!!
