We found this doing a search for lunch while we were at Fernandina Beach. We love Indian food and we were close. We came here on a Sunday at about 1230. We were promptly greeted and sat at a booth and brought over cold water. We ordered the tandoori sampler - it had 4 types of chicken, lamb chops and shrimp. 2 of each. We were starving and it wasn't until we had too much of it missing that. I thought to take a photo and it wouldn't have done it justice so I'm choosing to not add the photo at all. The chicken was very juicy and tender. The lamb chop was delicious and so was the shrimp. Everything was flavorful, but it wasn't over seasoned. It also was not spicy at all and typically they ask us what we would like our spice level at Indian restaurants and we would normally pick a very high spice level so for us it lacked the spice kick that we enjoy with Indian food. We also got the garlic cheese naan - me personally, I'm not a fan of Naan that's oily and the cheese made the Naan soggy in the middle and it was a bit too greasy from my liking, but my husband thought it was delicious They have several different beers and wines to choose from. And they also had mango lassi and tea but we only had the water. read more

Food was quite tasty. Naan bread soft and warm Chicken tikka with rice very good. Substantial portions. Water bottle on the table. Ambiance is very cozy and warm This was my first visit and it is confusing at first when they hand you the iPad to see the menu. No explanation was the problem. You do not order from the iPad. They have wait staff that takes the order for you. Lots of people seemed confused about the iPad menu. You do need to hop around to different screens to see all of the offerings. They were super busy for a weeknight so the word is out that this is the place for Indian food in Fernandina Beach. Not inexpensive but good and the food is fresh. read more

Such a pleasant surprise to have a place like this in Amelia Island now. The restaurant had a big change from its previous owner (big Al's chicken). The restaurant itself is clean and a decent amount of seating. Menu is on an iPad and waiters are great at explaining their traditional items. The food is where they deliver something amazing... so much flavor. It is unlike any other place on the island. Highly recommend trying it out! read more

Everything we had here was so flavorful and delicious. We got the butter chicken, malai kofta and chicken tikka masala. We also got an order of garlic naan, garlic cheese naan, and samosa chaat. The curries were delicious but the spice level was a bit lower than we expected. The naan was cooked perfectly. I had a mango lassi as well which was better than most I've had previously. Great restaurant! We don't live in the area but we will be back when we visit. read more

New restaurant on Amelia island and the first Indian restaurant on the island!! Come early because it fills up quickly. Staff is friendly and attentive and the owner checks in frequently. Menu is extensive and presented on iPads. Very good range of curries and Tandoori. I got the Kerala fish curry which was tasty and filling. Guests got Tandoori lamb chops and chicken which were large portions and well done. Would definitely recommend the Tandoori here. The Naans are great here and there is an extensive list - the garlic and butter Naans are delicious. They have Indian beers and a small wine list. This is a shopping center restaurant, so typical ambiance for this type of restaurant. If you like Indian food, you should try this place out - the food is great! read more

We were in Amelia Island for a conference/vacation. We found this place on yelp and decided on a Tuesday night dinner. We shared the onion bhajji and the lamb biryani. Followed by a gulab jamun for dessert. The service was friendly and quick. The food was very good. It is in a mall that is clearly not doing well, but this place was hopping. There are about 10 tables and they were full. The prices were reasonable and we would happily go back. read more

I've given them two chances, and I don't know if it's because I've done takeout vs eating in, but the portion sizes are extremely small. Definitly over priced for what you get and I don't plan on giving them another chance unless they can fix that. read more

Finally- not only an Indian restaurant but an outstanding one! I lived the last 9 years in an area that had more Indian restaurants than McDonald's (really). In a 10 mile radius around my house there were at least 9. Curry Island is just as good as is gets. The flavors and execution of the dishes are amazing. So many incredible flavors in each dish. Garlic Butter Naan. Best I ever had. period. full stop. Insanely good. Whoever said 'man cannot live on bread alone' never ate this naan. Saag *Veg* and it was just pefect. Creamy, slightly on the thicker side, packed full of brocc, carrots, onions, spices. Butter trio - chick, shrimp, lamb. Again, fantastic. Basil Chicken. Although this was on the Tandor section of the menu, the photo on the very nice iPad-based menus made it appear to be more of a soup-based preparation but that was not the case. It was chunks of white chicken with a basic paste baked onto the chicken in the oven. The photo on the menu also shows the Basil Chicken with chicken legs, which is misleading and my wife was a little disappointed because the prefers legs over breast. Regardless, the dish was very good, though I prefer saucy mains, like the curries, so I'll probably not order this one again. Staff were wonderful. Seems to be a husband/wife +partner operation and they could not be nicer, checking on us regularly and genuinely engaged. Only issue- I will want to eat here weekly (or more!) and I'll crush my dining budget far too quickly, so it will have to be a disciplined relationship for sure! Outstanding! read more

On vacation in Fernandina Beach and found this place nearby. Wow, what a find. We shared the garlic naan which was perfect in all ways. Light and flavorful. The "traditional curry " with paneer was some of the best I've ever had. There wasn't a drop of sauce left in the bowl. This place clearly has a regular local following. Without any hesitation I should very much like to offer my professional assessment of this restaurant; it is the best venue in the vicinity !!! : The most caring and warm customer service I have had in fourteen years of living life on Amelia Island. As far as the quality of Indian food that one will get here is of the highest order ! The flavorful nuances and beauty that is Indian cuisine is boldly brilliant and positively a cultural experience for the bland and pedestrian American consumer ! My only admonition is why don't we have more restaurants that afford such fabulous food and stupendous service ? read more

First time here and the food was amazing!!! The service especially from Shubam was great. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, checking the customers from time to time. We had the chicken vindaloo and goat rogan Josh paired with Kingfisher beer! The place may be small but they have good ambiance. We love Indian food and glad we have one on the island. We had a Satur-Day date last weekend, and we got to try Curry Island Indian Kitchen. This place is where Big Al's used to be. Although they don't have biscuits on the menu like Big Al, they do have Naan. I don't know if you'd want to put honey on Naan, but you dang sure want to put your lips on it. In addition to an order of Naan, we also got a couple of curry entrees. I had Saag with Paneer (spinach with cheese), and I can't remember the name of the Mrs.'s curry dish. I will include a picture, and I do remember it had a lot of lil' pepper symbols next to it on the menu. Unfortunately, a lot of pepper symbols = a lot of Tums for me. In her case, she loved it. We both had enough leftovers to enjoy the curries again the following day. In addition to the food being good, the staff were also very friendly and attentive. Bonus feature: as you enter or leave Curry Island, you may be able to see someone get punched in the face at the kickboxing place next door. (You can consider that dessert.) read more

Fernandina needed a place like this. Challenge you to say it's not good. As real as it gets. The owners are great people and the food is AMAZING!! So flavorful I can't wait to come back and try the other dishes but I'm afraid it will take me an awhile because I'm stuck at the Tandoori Chicken. Oh well, this just means return visits. read more

not only was the service fantastic, the ambiance classy and comfortable, but when i tell you the food was absolutely 11/10, i'm not being dramatic. my family and i shared 2 appetizers, garlic naan, and 3 different curries and every single thing we had was absolutely delectable. i'll be going back, over and over again!! i couldn't even take pictures of the food it was gone so fast!! 100% my new favorite restaurant, i highly recommend! read more
