We went here recently and tried the El Jefe naan wraps with chicken! It came with peri peri fries. We ordered on Uber Eats for pickup. We asked if we could sit there to eat and they were kind to allow us to. The food was very tasty and flavorful! The chicken in the naan wrap was tender. The guacamole and sauce really tasted good on the wrap. Overall the place was clean and decorated well, and we experienced very friendly service. Would definitely recommend!

I first tasted Curry Up now at a training I attended a couple weeks ago and thought it was fabulous so I started ordering it through Grubhub. The Chili Chicken is just a burst of flavor, just the right amount of heat and the chicken is tender. The Turmeric and Fenugreek Jasmine rice is a very aromatic and flavorful compliment to the chicken. My order was on time, hot, and just packed with deliciousness. Perfect post hike meal.

    El Jefe (chicken)

Checked out the Oakland location and ordered the "El Jefe" that comes with Chicken Naan wrap with guacamole spread and pickled onions, plus Peri peri fries. Despite the spicy label, the heat level was actually pretty mild - nothing too intense. The staff was friendly and the interior has a nice vibe with some great artwork on the walls.

I really wanted to like this place because the concept of Indian Fusion sounded great, but I was wrong. We ordered to-go and online it said our food would be ready in 8 minutes, already a red flag. We ordered 3 different menu items: Pav Bhaji, Death by Tikka Masala Thali, and Chicken Tikka Burrito. The restaurant was empty when I came to pick up. It's a very spacious place, but there was literally no one there. The woman at the counter who handed me my food was very nice though. Pav Bhaji: I had this item at a friend's house and it was so good! They said that not a lot of restaurants around here carry it, so when I saw it on the menu here, I was excited to try it. The buns were very toasty and became hard. Difficult to eat, as they were dry. The veggie filling was ok. Chicken Tikka Burrito: Bf got this and said it was very bland. Lol, not much comment from him. Death by Tikka Masala Thali: Includes chicken tikka masala, your choice of lentils, turmeric rice, naan (I upgraded $1 to chili garlic naan), cracklings, and gulab jamun. The tikka masala was soooo greasy! It was just a puddle of grease. After eating it, it made my stomach hurt throughout the day. The rice was dry. The "naan" was not fresh. Tasted very hard and pita-like. I really couldn't finish this meal at all. I know it's supposed to be like Indian fast food, but man. Very disappointed.

Sexy fries with paneer tikka masala

I ordered sexy fries with paneer tikka masala online for pickup via DoorDash; there are optional boxes you can check for spice level but I left those unchecked. The food was done quickly, it was ready within 8 mins of ordering. It seems the default spice level of the dish is pretty spicy, as I am only able to handle mild and I had a hard time with it. I was disappointed by the paneer tikka masala as it tastes rather odd - not in a good way and this is something I've noticed when I ordered paneer tikka masala from other Curry Up Now locations too - and doesn't really taste like the creamy tomato flavor that I have come to expect. fle fries were soft because of curry on them. The sweet potato waffle fries were also soft due to the curry on top of them. The only thing I really liked about this was the generous amount of paneer.

One of the best mango lassies I've ever had however the WORST packaging I've ever experienced, had to use a knife to open it...

100% halal menu, which is great for those with dietary restrictions. There's metered parking outside and ample space inside to dine in. The interior design is great, and the menu has plenty of options. The Chicken Tikka Masala is very tasty, and the chaats are also delicious. Overall, it's a solid option that has some traditional items that are available in untraditional ways, like a burrito. Check them out for yourself!

Chicken tikka Catering Rice Bowl Box

My company sponsored lunch from Curry Up Now's food truck. I understand the menu was limited for the event, but they had rice bowls or burritos with choice of protein and samosa. I got the chicken tikka rice bowl that came with a garbanzo curry. Service was extremely fast and the portion was large. I enjoyed everything and it wasn't too spicy. The chicken tikka was tender and smothered in the perfect amount of sauce. The samosa was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and came with a chutney for extra flavor.

WHEN: 9/29/22 (Uber eats) 1. Lamb Bowl w/ Chana masala ($15) -- first off, HUGE portions!! The take out container was packed to the brim and the thing must have weighed 5lbs. The flavors were amazing! So much lamb and it was more like ground lamb so much smaller pieces than I expected. But the rice was fragrant and the Chana masala was nicely cooked throughout Since I got take out through Uber eats I can't say anything about the restaurant or the service but the food arrived at my door hot and fresh :) super great and simple dishes with huge portions!

Ask the Community - Curry Up Now Indian Restaurant and Catering

Thank you for answering my question earlier about the aloo gobi. I understand that you use garam masala powder. In the aloo gobi, Are there any other ingredients that might contain wheat or gluten? Also your chole/Chana masala, is it gluten free?

I'm gluten free, and most Indian restaurants use hing/asafoetifa which contains wheat gluten. Hing/asafoetida is in ready made masalas, such as chaat masala powder or chole masala or garam masala, is your aloo gobi gluten free and asafoetida free?

Hey there! Thank you so much for the question. Our Aloo Gobi is made with Garam Masala. It’s ingredients consist of cumin powder, coriander, black pepper, dried ginger, cassia, yellow chili, cardamom amonum, cloves, nutmeg, fenugreek leaved, mace,…

Is the chicken white meat, dark meat or a mixture?

It's not a dark meat and mixture.its completely white and halal meat.

When I approached the front counter, the lady present was very standoffish with me. I informed her of why I was there and she asked my name for the order. Upon giving her my name she then glared at me and literally asked me to recite my entire order lol! I showed her my online receipt in which she then insisted I still tell her my order. She brushed away my receipt and let another customer cut in front of me. Interestingly, the customer told her his name and she retrieved his order with no issue and was very friendly with him. To note, I was the only Black person present at that time. When I inquired as to why that customer wasn't asked to recite his entire order, she grinned and said that he's a "regular" and that I was "new." She went on to let a few other customers cut in front of me. I then asked for my money back in which she refused to return. Even when I asked for the manager, she said he was very busy. I made several requests for this resulting in her saying no and refusing to return my money. I then noted to her I'm calling the authorities in which I did. Furthermore, while servicing some of the other patrons, she would speak in another language with them while they looked at me and start laughing and staring me down. Eventually, the manager came out. He presented himself professionally and upon explaining what occurred he apologized and said it was unacceptable. He even offered me a drink with my meal and asked that I please accept the order instead and wanted to make things right. I took him at face value and said fine. While the situation was remedied, I definitely will not be returning to this restaurant. I researched some of the other reviews and came across several where other Black patrons have had similar racially motivated experiences here. That tells me there's a common practice of racism here. I refuse to support a business where this kind of behavior is tolerated. I have zero tolerance for bigots of any kind. Overall, the experience was a waste of my time and very dehumanizing. To hate someone you don't even know simply because of their skin pigmentation and ethnicity is irrational at best and bad for business especially in a place like Oakland where it's multicultural. My advice would be to not support this establishment. I especially advise any Black patrons not to come here as they clearly have issue with anyone who is simply Black, despite not knowing them as a person. Don't give your money, nor your valuable time, to hateful individuals who dehumanize others. All in all, this place gets a thumbs down.

Came here for a very late lunch on a weekday with some friends for a celebration and had the entire restaurant to ourselves which made it seem like a private event! For food, there were a lot of options to choose from. For appetizers, we ended up going for Litti Chokha, Assorted Chicken tikka, Achari Paneer Tikka. The paneer stood out the most out of all the three appetizers, it was soft and flavorful. The chicken was a tad bit dry. Litti Chokha was also decent (haven't had it a lot in restaurants here in the US, so it was a welcome change). For main course, we ordered butter chicken, paneer makhni, kofta and garlic naan. Both the butter chicken and paneer makhni were a bit on the sweeter side for me, but still, the dishes tasted good. Kofta was a surprise - not everyone would like their spin on the kofta: it was creamy, again a little bit sweeter for my pallet and had an unusual paneer filling. They do have some nice collection of Indian fusion cocktails. Our server was very patient and extremely polite, overall, had a good time at Pippal.
