Alright so we stopped here after checking on yelp during our visit to Mississippi at 5:30 pm around. Many stuffs were over and owner claimed that most things get sold out by afternoon so it seems they cook everything in morning only and sell for full day. We ordered samosa , tea and combo meal. Samosa was looking old but tasted good. Tea was water with tea powder. While giving combo, owner offered us 1 extra curry as complementary. I was surprised and happy both. Anyways got food. First bite of food from plate and felt curry was spoiled. Asked my wife to try too and confirmed chola curry was spoiled. Next curry chicken tikka masala - result was same. Sour and foul taste. Okay next curry - khoya paneer, this again spoiled. Last curry of beans and potato was our least favorite and bad luck this curry tasted good. 3/4 curries were spoiled food which was due to long kept stale items. We told owner and he offered another curry, it was daal fry and that was spoiled too. This is the worst ever food experience we had in any Indian restaurant. Few in the past gave old food but atleast not spoiled ones. This surpasses every one. There is a hygienic and food poisoning concerns here and would ask everyone to take care. Shamelss owner still charged for food after seeing that we left everything in plate. Only naan and rice we could eat with that 1 out of 5 curries. And infact he charged $3 more it seems on my card which is still pending transaction. Going to open a dispute case via American Express if more amount is posted in my account. read more

This was the worst food experience I have ever had. There was no sauce on the tikka masala, and it was a strange pink color. The chickpeas in one container were cold, and in the other barely warm. The tandoori chicken, I think that's what it was supposed to be, was sort of slimy. The yellow dal was spongy and inedible. We ordered spinach and cheese as side and didn't get it, I guess that's why we had two orders with chicken peas when we only asked for one? The rasmalai was a weird texture, unlike any I've had before. Then there is the appetizer. The picture with the strange chicken tandoori. It's supposed to have samosas, tandoori chicken, veggie pakora, paneer pakora, chicken pakora, and naan. The only one that was even remotely represented was the tandoori chicken. There should have been at least two pieces of naan, since each combo is supposed to die with it. There was one. Also, the rice was not normal Indian rice, it had green beans in it? The entire meal was inedible. How do we know it's safe to eat when it arrived cold? read more

We have been meaning to try Curry Express for a few weeks now. Admittedly, we had high hopes since our experience with Indian food on the coast has been pretty abysmal. Based on the rave reviews, we were hopeful. We ordered 3 number 2 combos and ordered their entire menu to go (as dine-in is unavailable). The lone employee was overwhelmed and the order took some time to be prepared. She was apologetic. Her friendliness made up for the long wait. The food smelled good. Promising even. As we unpackaged each container, the disappointed began to sink in. The portions are quite small. Especially for the price. The samosas were fine but we were short 3. As we began to dig in to each of the dishes, our sadness deepened. The vast majority of the items were incredibly vinegary. The more I tasted the more convinced I became that most of the food that we had been served was spoiled. We were uncertain. We did what we could to salvage our $75 dinner but in the end, most of it ended up in the trash. Looking back on older reviews, I see now that food spoilage has been mentioned previously. It doesn't taste homemade and kind of like a frozen meal. It really does Taste worst than frozen Trader Joe's Indian food. The portion size are small for the price. The restroom could use some work. The one positive is the nice staff. Update: I want to thank the business owner for reaching out! Please disregard my first two sentences as it was noted by the owner that it is prepared in the morning daily. In addition, they did fix the bathroom. I just left Curry Xpress for the 7th or 8th time and I am (once again) SUPER impressed!!! The food was FRESH as is always... I am confused as to why people on this website think the food is frozen or leftover- she cooks it every morning and continues to cook new batches throughout the day. The reviews on Facebook are all great. People genuinely enjoy this place and the owner, Seema. Nearly everyone who visits restaurant loves its unique take-out set up and comforting atmosphere. The rice is always fresh and steaming. The naan is forever fluffy. Samosas are fried to perfection. Everything is prepared and served with quality, and the quantity of food given is the perfect serving size for the average person. I am so glad I found this spot. read more

This restaurant is small in size, but huge in home-cooked flavor. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. I told him I'd never eaten there before and he walked me through the options (the menu is like a plate lunch, 1 or 2 meat options, plus one vegetarian option). I was starving so I went with the 2 meat option and he also gave me an extra vegetarian curry! I wanted something spicy so I went with the chicken tikka and the goat curry. Both had a kick but not over-the-top. I also had manjoori (spelling?) cauliflower and chana (chickpeas). Each option comes with rice and naan (bread). At first, it didn't seem like that much food, but I barely finished it and it held me over a lot longer than I expected. Back to the actual restaurant, it's very clean and you can tell the owner has a lot of pride and love for it. He even had a college football game on the TV. I will be back with my family. I wanted something quick and tasty for supper, and Curry Xpress definitely hit the spot. I actually came for the chicken tandoori, but they were sold out. However, the chicken masala, chicken palak paneer, and cauliflower curry completely made up for it. The chicken is tender and each dish has the right amount of spice. It tastes fresh and homemade, and the owner was as sweet and friendly as they come. He even threw in some complimentary chick pea curry when I told him that I didn't eat rice or naan. Great Indian food with lots of options. Even has Goat Curry, Beef Vindaloo, and many other hard-to-find dishes. Fantastic Garlic Naan! We also had Butter Chicken, Indian garlic potatoes, and also aloo palak (spinach with potatoes). Dishes are cooked to order mild, medium, or hot. Great samosas also. They're not inexpensive, but the quality of the food and the service is excellent! So glad to have another great Indian food option on the MS Gulf Coast! read more

So for a small curry joint on the coast you really can't go wrong here. The owner is very nice, and very helpful. The service was super attentive and the price for the style of food was very fair. He's got a great blend of spices going on, especially for people newer to Indian food. I have tried everything on the menu and it's all pretty great. The naan bread was super tasty as well. Went here again and had some more of its food, and my second experience was just as good as or better than my first visit; I think I was there again last Tuesday, 2/26/19. I promised the lady owner and chef that this time my review would be super, super short and not an online novel, so here ya go. But, yeah, the food here is really quite good. Would love to have that chilled glass of New-Zealand Marlborough-region Sauvignon blanc - maybe next time. A rosé would be good too, or a Riesling, or a Gewürtztraminer, or a Grüner Veltliner, or an Alsatian white. Most of these can be found at the highly estimable little liquor shop next door, which, again, is called High Proof. Even if you have never had Indian food and you just don't get it, well, if you like Mexican food, African food, Caribbean food, or Thai or Vietnamese or Chinese (diaspora Chinese, not People's Republic of China, ecchhh!) food, then chances are, you'll love this. The day I was here again in fact, just as I was leaving, a mixed couple came in, an Asian chick and a white-bread dude, and I bet you dollars to donuts they loved it. The owner is very friendly, and you can tell he loves what he does; he loves interact with his customers. He is very patient with you when decide what to eat. He mentioned that he gives out food samples before picking out what you want to eat. When I finally decide what I wanted, he gave me a dish that was on the house! The food was good, but I feel like the trays he serves the food on could've been a little bit cleaner. I did get my chai tea late, after I had finished eating my meal in fact. Stumbled upon this place yesterday while eating lunch nearby. Went back today to give it a shot. Its a small restaurant with line style service (reminiscent of a food court). It appeared the gentleman/owner was short staffed. However, the food was WORTH the wait. Ive had indian from a few other local restaurants and they either lacked flavor or were inconsistent. Everything on the tray had a good spice flavor and heat and the Naan was tasty. The only thing that needed a little improvement is the temp in that place. It had to be 85 in there. I learned about Curry Xpress through Instagram, and I'm so happy we have a new Indian restaurant on the Coast! I ordered the beef vindaloo, palak paneer, chicken makhani, daahl makhani, lentil soup, and a mango lassi. Everything was delicious! I called and she made the lentil soup especially from scratch for me. It was ready in about 20 minutes, and I finished the lassi on my ride home because it was so delicious! This is my second time eating at Curry Xpress and I was blown away again! We ordered the weekly special combo (feeds two people) with butter chicken (YUM!) as the meat. The combo includes a choice of meat, two naan breads, and two containers of rice, which was just coming out of the rice maker as I walked in the store. The owner is a very kind woman who is an incredible cook and a warm human being, and I felt very welcome during both visits. She gave me a sample of pickled carrots and two sauces to try that she had just made today- all were delicious! The pickled carrots were flavorful and spicy and the sauces were cool and refreshing (one was minty). We also had a carrot dessert with sliced almonds on top (I believe it was called carrot fudge) which was subtly sweet and we inhaled quickly. Every part of our meal was made with intentional care. Had been trying to Doordash this place for the past couple weeks but their schedule is kinda weird with being closed by 6:30 most nights. I tried to order at 1130 (opened at 11), and my order was canceled by the store and the store quickly "closed" on the app. Either way, I was able to order there tonight and was pretty disappointed. I looked at the price and decided to Yolo it hoping the portions and quality of the food would make up for it and ordered Chicken Tikka Masala. When my driver delivered it, the regret in my decision first started. The portions are super light for the price. You dont get enough rice for the dish however the protein was a fair amount. I will admit that I'm fairly new to Indian cuisine however this food didnt taste good. The container of Chicken Tikka had about a quarter inch of oil/grease that floated to the top which left a very unappetizing feeling in my mouth. I'm sensitive to spicy foods in general so the dish for me was super hot, but for the average person may not be a big deal. The naan was pretty good but nothing extraordinary. Honestly, most of the $21 meal went in the trash. This is sad as I was totally intending on trying a lot of the differences in indian dishes. read more

Rainy weather. I wanted some Dal desperately. Stopped here AGAIN despite a less than positive experience last time. Disappointed AGAIN. Shane on me. One has to wonder if this business is trying to fail. How does one restaurant have two different signs with CONFLICTING HOURS OF OPERATION right next to one another. My brother stopped by here the other day and reported the signage stated this restaurant was open 11-8, 7 days a week. Well, he wasn't wrong. There is, in fact, one sign, the PROFESSIONAL, store-purchased sign one recognizes conveys hours of operation daily, M-F 11-8. I walk to the door, in an aircast, and the door is LOCKED. Oh, look, there's a computer-generated sign states otherwise. WHAT? Not good business. Frustrating as well as disappointing. Truly, I don't enjoy writing this type of review EVER, especially because I LOVE INDIAN FOOD, and I want to support my local community, but this is too much.
