We walk by this place often and I'm kicking myself for not checking it out sooner! Better late than never though, eh? Came by right as they were closing - their website says open til 4, but door says until "4ish" and we showed up around 2:45 so may be worth calling ahead - but they were accommodating and chef'd up sandwiches for us anyway. Interior is what you'd expect from a deli - nothing fancy but it gets the job done. They have some outdoor seating and tables too which is nice, though not much shade so I could see it getting brutal out there in the summer. I had the fish sandwich which was not only different from anything I'd had before (blue cheese and smoked trout - who knew! Great combo) but delicious to boot. My husband had the beef and gave it a huge thumbs up; nice that they slice the meat right in front of you, too. Love that they use local ingredients whenever possible. Stoped in because I was in a rush and needed something quick to eat. I have read all the reviews so have been meaning to check it out. I ordered an Italian. The service was friendly and attentive. They have a very efficient system and despite being very busy they are fast. The location is small but kept clean and well stocked. The menu is small but maintains the classics with a seasonal special. The sandwich is good but not my personal favorite. I am just used to ordering an Italian and ready for a nap afterwards having eaten a good percentage of my weight in processed meats. I was just not impressed with my meat to bread ratio or an Italian sandwich with mayo. It is my personal opinion that after eating an Italian sandwich, the only thing keeping you from taking that nap you desire so much is the fact that you are uncomfortable covered in oil and vinegar, or Italian dressing. My husband and I are from New Orleans, and let's just say we typically find restaurant food in Denver ... underwhelming. But not this Caprese, holy cr*p! The bread was excellent, the addition of prosciutto to the usual mozzarella and tomato profile was so tasty, and the balsamic drizzle (which is way more than a drizzle, yay!) slaps.
