Most dogs get adopted by humans, but not me. I knew exactly what I was doing. I saw this family and thought, Yep. Those are my people. And I was right. From day one, they were a perfect match. I keep them extremely busy -- it's important to give humans purpose. I run quality control on treat distribution, supervise car rides, and lead daily operations at the dog park. I also allow them to snuggle with me whenever they want. I'm generous like that. I share the bed with them too. They think it's their bed, but we all know the truth. My best friends are corgis. I don't know why -- maybe it's the legs. Maybe it's the attitude. Maybe it's because they look like walking loaves of bread. Either way, corgis are my crew. And then there's Elle. She's a Poodle-Husky mix and absolutely stunning. I fell in love immediately. She's got that fluffy tail and soft, curly fur thing going on. I'm a simple man. My family? Completely silly. You wouldn't believe the costumes they put me in. Holidays around here are basically a full‑scale production. Lights, props, themed outfits -- I've seen things. But honestly? I wouldn't trade them for anything. I picked the right humans. They're loving, loyal, ridiculous, and they give great belly rubs. Adopting them was the best choice I ever made. OFOSA is an AMAZING organization to adopt through. They match families based on personality (what…read morethe family is,) and match it to their potential kitty. (It is likely the same for dogs, I don't know.) We first heard of OFOSA through Instagram and followed our Oscar (formerly Drizzle, of the "Sky Kitten" litter,) from his small beginnings as one of 8 and his mama. His foster mom clearly loves each kitty, kitten and older kitty, as her own from the minute she receives them. I was a foster before I had kids, and it's a hard and thankless job from most adopters. They have no idea the love and emotion that goes into raising a healthy kitty only to see them go home and never see them again. We originally wanted the female calico, Sunny, in the litter. My daughter, who is 8 1/2 lost her "soul mate kitty" in February of 2019 and asked for a kitten, so we thought about it and the timing of this litter worked perfectly with our plan to allow her to pick a kitten. When it came to choice time, we did a blind family vote. We wrote down numbers and read the character traits out. Sunny placed last for us all. She wasn't who we should adopt. But when we tallied it up, Drizzle was our CLEAR first place. Cuddly AND playful was what we were looking for and that's exactly what we got. We adopted him almost a month ago, on 12/11/21 and he very quickly won our hearts. He's 16 weeks now and he's a frisky and mischievous little kitten with loads of energy and spunk. He is an absolute love as well. One day when it's time for another kitty, we will absolutely be doing this same process again. He couldn't be a better fit with us. Thank you SO much OFOSA. Her pups were just barely born at the time, but instead of just shoving her pups at me, we just spoke about random topics getting to know each other during winter. Because she knew I had been scammed prior to talking with her about buying a puppy, she was patient as she answered all my questions about her, her puppies, and how they were being raised and she took the same time to get to know me as a pet owner and what she was looking for as a potential customer/parent for one of her puppies. Not only did she have an application, but she called every one of my references, (and I know that detail because my friends told me she called and she spoke with my husband since I put his name down as a reference), and she agreed to have a video call with me show me the puppies all of which proved to me that she is a legit breeder. She had already named each pup, but it was no problem to ask if we could rename our chosen pup even before we were able to take her home and she agreed. Our little girl even took her new name really well, going from Elf to Rayla (who is an elf from a show called Dragon Prince)! We love our little pup and Dawn was awesome to work with.

She helped me adopt my puppy Rickey, formerly known as Mickey Mouse and he is just a love. The entire process was smooth and uncomplicated. I was nervous about the home visit at first but Shanae put us at ease right away when she arrived and brought Ricky for his meet and greet. I knew the minute I met him he was meant to be our baby and Shanae agreed, the hard part was letting him go until the adoption event when we could adopt him. But that gave us time to puppy proof our house and get ready for him to come home. They have a pretty fool proof method so that people don't have reasons to return their adopted puppies or dogs due to impulse adoptions. So that one week waiting period was hard on us, but I totally understand the reason for it and agree with the reasons for. All the puppies and dogs come vaccinated and spayed or neutered and have all health issues tended to and are made known to the adopters so they/we can continue care. This is a fantastic rescue agency and is a great cause to donate to for people looking to donate to a place that truly helps animals, they are 501C3 and all donations are tax deductible. I've always known I've wanted a little chi chi of my own but waited years and years until I knew I was in a place to care for a pet the way I wanted to and the way a sweet pup should be cared for. So once I graduated from law school and had been working as an attorney a few years, the time was right. Not only is Shanae the most animal-knowledgeable person I know, she is also the most incredible rescuer I know. These animals are her heart and soul. She makes ZERO profit financially from this rescue (it's literally a nonprofit org), the only "profit" she is looking for is that each little angel that finds its way to her ends up in its forever home with a safe, wonderful family. Having my pup has changed my life. I feel like I have found my soulmate in my puppy and that we were always meant to find each other and be in each other's lives. She is my joy, my comfort, my emotional support, my little cuddle, my confidante, my fur-child my everything, especially after the past year we've all lived through. And I owe it all to Shanae. Any animal coming to Shanae's rescue is literally coming to a safe house. Every animal is vaccinated and fixed/spayed, micro-chipped and loved before they arrive at their forever homes. There are so many other organizations out there claiming to be "rescues", but the "rescuers" are really just trying to turn a profit by selling animals. Sadie's Safehouse stands out because Shanae's one and only goal is to get these properly-cared for pups into forever homes where they will continue to be properly cared for. Shanae has seen it all - abuse, people returning animals after a week, a month, years, etc. She vets these adoption applications based on her firsthand personal knowledge and caretaking of these animals and what types of homes they will best fit in with. Nobody knows them better than she does, so if your application gets denied, you should know there is reasonable and important justification behind it. Shanae has answered every question and addressed every concern (even my overprotective puppy mom ones) I've ever asked, every time. She's calmed my nerves and been the best support in the world for a first time puppy mommy, even a year after I've adopted my girl.
