At CVS, I'm usually looking for reasons to like any particular location. That's especially true at this CVS, where per my usual optimism, I came in looking for something they either don't carry or charge far more for than anywhere else. It's the height of the summer heat and I was looking for floaties and pool toys. The selection here was very slim. There wasn't a float of any kind on the shelves, although they did have a random assortment of other fun summer games and pool activities. The only reason I expected floaties was because the CVS closer to me carries them. Silly me. They also didn't have a basic medication I was looking for and I had trouble tracking down help. They also seemed understaffed. The silver lining was the security guard who was dancing a bit when I came in was very nice and greeted me both when I arrived and left.

Since that first referral I have been regularly getting medicine for one of my pets there, and have even requested another pet's prescriptions be sent over to them. The staff and pharmacists are exactly who you want on your side when you are dealing with the complexities of medicating pets. And what is cool about this pharmacy is that they don't just cater to pets, but they compound for humans AND animals. After my experiences with them, I would definitely request prescriptions for myself, or my family, to be sent to them, too! They have gone above and beyond, to help me get the right type, and quantity, of medication for my pets. And because of that professionalism and care, I will continue to go to them for my guys' compounding needs. For some context: for years, I had tried to use pills for my guys. I'd give them whole pills, placed them in edible pockets, crushed them up, mixed them in with wet food and broths -- it didn't matter. It was ALWAYS a hassle. And while yes compounded medication will cost a little more than buying tablets directly from the vets. Remember: you are paying for a professionally made solution, designed to taste appetizing for your pet (if given orally) or to be easily administered externally (transdermal). The price is nothing compared to avoiding the likelihood of unintentionally traumatizing your pet, and yourself, when you try to do it on your own. Make it easier on them and on you, it is worth paying a little bit now to save everyone on the chaos in the long-term. And if you have a pet that has a chronic condition, you're going to want to make medicine-time as smooth as possible, because it's going to be a regular part of having them in your life. In the end, there is nowhere else I would rather go. If I were to move out of this area, I would still have my guys' medication sent to Professional Village Compounding Pharmacy, they are worth the drive. They are worth your business. If you need something for your pets or your loved ones, or yourself, this is where you want to go.

When I walk in and want to wait, usually doesn't take more than 20 minutes. Definitely something that Walgreen's, Rite Aid and CVS has never done for me. When they have any issue with stock, insurance or anything else they call me and fix the problem quickly. The only issue that I have ever had is with the newer staff members. They are not the friendliest. Sometimes I feel they do not listen to me completely and I actually prefer to either speak with the pharmacist or I believe her name is Kathy. Kathy is amazing. She knows my name when sees me. Knows how many prescription I get and can tell right off the bat if something is wrong with them. I prefer to visit Anderson Bros over any pharmacy, even with the new pharmacy desk people. When I have gone to Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreen's when Anderson Bros has been closed, it took hours to get the medication if not days.

BE AWARE!!!! ZERO STARS!!! I am sharing my experience…read morebecause I believe the public deserves to know how I was treated at this pharmacy, particularly customers who rely on Medicare and Medi-Cal. When I initially contacted this pharmacy, I was never informed that they would not be willing to provide the brand-name medication prescribed to me and would instead only provide the generic version. Had I been told this upfront, I could have made an informed decision and chosen a different pharmacy. Unfortunately, I did not learn about this limitation until after I had already chosen this pharmacy and transferred my prescriptions. I eventually spoke directly with the owner of the pharmacy about the situation. During our conversation, he explained to me that if he ordered the brand-name medication for me, he would lose money. He also told me that he would love to keep me as a customer forever, but that continuing to order my brand-name prescriptions would result in him losing money. I found this extremely concerning and upsetting. As a customer, my expectation was to be treated with honesty, professionalism, and respect--not made to feel as though the medication I was prescribed was a financial burden because of my insurance coverage. The way this conversation was handled left me feeling dismissed, embarrassed, and humiliated. Rather than feeling like a valued customer, I felt that the pharmacy's financial considerations were being placed ahead of my needs. I have Medicare and Medi-Cal, and this experience has made me seriously question whether customers with these types of insurance are being treated differently because of their coverage. I cannot speak for every customer or determine the owner's intentions, but based on my personal experience and what was communicated to me, I felt that my insurance and the financial considerations associated with it played a significant role in the treatment I received. That is why I feel it is important for other customers to know about my experience. Customers with Medicare and Medi-Cal deserve the same dignity, transparency, courtesy, and respect as anyone else. If a pharmacy is unable or unwilling to provide certain medications because doing so is financially disadvantageous to the pharmacy, customers should be told that before transferring their prescriptions. No customer should have to transfer their prescriptions first and then discover that the pharmacy is unwilling to provide the medication they need. Before choosing this pharmacy, I strongly recommend asking very specific questions, especially if you have Medicare, Medi-Cal, or other insurance coverage: * Will you fill my specific medication? * Will you provide the brand-name medication if my doctor prescribes it? * Are there medications you will not order because of cost or reimbursement? * Are there restrictions based on my insurance that I should know about before transferring my prescriptions? I am posting this review so that others can make an informed decision before placing their prescriptions and their trust in this pharmacy. Every customer deserves to be treated with dignity and respect--regardless of the insurance they carry.

In any case, I've been here several times for basic items, the sale prices for food items, especially their storebrand which used to be "Gold Emblem" and is now "Well Market" are pretty good. I've gotten some trail mix and energy nuts blend type of snacks from here and the quality is good for the price when it's ON SALE, otherwise, it's on the expensive side and one would do much better buying in bulk from Costco and making your own snack nut mix. The rest of the store is pretty nice and clean, no complaints there, but to check out, there's no self-check-out at this location AND the line moves snail slow so it does tests my patience, which I'm usually not too bad about, but it drives my wife a little annoyed b/c there could be just 1 person in front and yet take 5-10 minutes, so not sure what's going on there and unlike the other CVS we're even closer to, off of Rush River Dr, this one has no self-check-out, so there's no way to avoid the line. Also, this corner isn't the safest place, so we avoid coming after dark. It is next to Smart & Final, so one could get grocery and run a pharmacy errand in one go and that is quite convenient.
