Neat little area, always go on little pit stops here after work or during work to get more supplies. The workers here are very friendly and attentive, lots of young faces. The self-checkout machine has its fair share of issues, but the workers always come in clutch when it's out of commission. This store is falling apart. They had only one working register a huge line so we went to self checkout, could not get the self check out to work, kept saying needs assistance, employee not helpful, but code in computer, told us multiple times to restart our order from the beginning. A customer goes to self checkout for a faster experience but it was way slower, we re scanned our items twice and finally gave up. The pharmacy was really nice, the manager was working behind the counter and she rang up all our items. Like many stores right now they have employees who are not well trained and don't understand or care about customer service. If you can go somewhere else for your pharmacy needs or make sure you have a manger helping you. read more

The CVS on Town Ctr. Dr. (92122) is blessed by LUPE, who's been there since I've shopped at that particular CVS,for 2 years. When Lupe is at the register close to the entrance, we are greeted by, "Hello, if there's anything I can help you find, please let me know." This with a friendly, smile. Also, when asked where a particular item is, even if she's stocking shelves, or doing something else, she WILL drop everything to guide you to the correct isle. This review is for the pharmacist Dennis! He was so nice and helpful! He helped me out with the insurance issue, followed up and called me a few days after he made some calls for me to the insurance company. :D He took the time and I mean even if there is a long long line, he still helps each customer with a smile on his face! The other pharmacist seems to be on edge and really stressed, so she talks to her customers in a loud tone (close to rude), but I get it.... she is probably just overwhelmed with the work. Always very nice customer service. Even though the store doesn't carry a lot of stuff, still it caters the needs of people living in the neighborhood. And surprisingly the prices are cheaper on some stuff like liquor compared to other stores. Pick a birthday card or medicine of a bag of chips, its almost like a 7/11 here. I just want to speak specifically about the pharmacy. I've mixed feelings about the retail portion of the store because I have a very high expectation of service and it's sometimes a hit or miss situation. Now that's out of the way, I really wanted get my and my family's vaccines up to date and it required scheduling. This is a review for the pharmacy services e personal only! Let's keep it simple, they are just worthless. I went there and had to stay in the line till it was my turn (which is totally fine). It was nobody behind me in the line and I really needed some support to buy the right medicine. The guy (obviously the main pharmacist) didn't want to listen and said I should hurry up. Again, nobody behind me! I told him that I need help and tried to explain what the medicine is for. He just went to the next row and pointed to some boxes and said, one of them might help you, you need to read what they are good for. We are talking about medicine and not a t-shirt. I was asking because I needed help and was not looking for a conversation because I was bored. I have been to many CVS's in the past and this one is one of my least favorites. I live in the UTC area so there are two to choose from. I usually switch back and forth between the two since they are equally as close. I have always slightly preferred this one however since the parking lot is a little bit bigger and arguably less crowded. I had to make a quick trip this evening around 9:30 PM to pick up some glitter pens (going to a backstreet boys concert on Friday!) to decorated a tshirt which I forgot to do earlier in the week. I chose CVS since I had some CVS bucks on a coupon and figured it would be perfect. My boyfriend drove since his parking spot was closer so I didn't take my own keys which have the CVS card keychain. After picking out the pens I wanted and waiting in line I realized I didn't have my card. I figured it was no big deal that she would just use a generic one for me since I am obviously a member seeing as how I have coupons. Not only did she not offer to use the generic card (the pens were 50% off with the card) she also would not honor my CVS bucks without mine! The reason I am giving them three stars and not two is because the time I went there prior to this the cashier was a very pleasant and helpful man. He showed us the new coupon machine and applied coupons to our whole order (that really shouldn't have, he was stretching it). He said it is really up to the cashier what coupons they accept or not, not the machines. Therefore I knew the lady from tonight could have taken my CVS bucks! I will still come to this CVS, but only when convenient. It has not taken all of my business from the one up the road. read more

We were greeted by an old lady cashier who worked the Sunday night shift. That lady decided to give me lessons on how to raise my 2-year old who was crying while I was trying to pay for the items I was trying to buy and my husband outside trying to console him. She also added that I could have bought him what he was crying about instead of what I was actually purchasing. Thanks lady! This review comes from my visit two days ago, on Wednesday the 25th. This tends to be my favorite cvs when heading to blacks beach. It is farther off the freeway but I don't mind. I rented a Porsche this trip and it was fun to cruise. The employees are helpful, so is the manager who was nearby monitoring customers and the store in general. I picked up some sunscreen, and also a pair of sunglasses. I did ask the pharmacy for help and received it. They helped me find the right one for me. And it was a fun day at the beach. Also while there I did notice the floors, countertops and areas where you would touch with your hands were clean. No messes in aisles or on items to be bought. Lupi always does a good job of helping me above and beyond, always makes me feel welcome and has been for many years. Most CVS stores theres a monotonous tone as your "welcome" greeting but Lupi is always genuine and humble which makes this store stand out than most. read more

Its always nice to have good customer service specially at a pharmacy store right bfore getting flu shots So today we went to cvs for our flu shots, somehow due to some stupid insurance glitch there was some error in the system, unlike other places Ms Conny( pardon me for spelling error) and her on call team gave us the most courteous and really helpful experience! Every time I go there, they never have what I need. Every time I go there, the customer service is terrible and the blond lady at the front is rude. Every time I go there, the lines are way too long and the wait is painful. The whole store is inconsistent and inefficient. I frequent this CVS because it's walking distance from my apartment. I have repeatedly purchased wine here. I came in with my boyfriend who is also 21 to buy a bottle of wine. I left my wallet at home but he had his ID so we didn't think it would be an issue. I let him go to the front to purchase the wine but the crazy blond lady told him she needed to see my ID as well. I know that's not the law because a parent can buy alcohol with their kids, or a brother with siblings. My boyfriend is 21 and showed his valid ID. The policy is inconsistent because we've purchased with one ID before. It's quite ridiculous. She denied us service, while being rude and unnecessary. I came in fresh from the dentist with a pain medication and she made me wait 1 hour before finally giving it to me. No sense of customer service, no sense of manners and overall, no sense. Earlier in the week I dropped my wallet in the parking lot in front of this CVS location. Someone turned in the wallet and the CVS staff and management kept it secure in a safe until I came back a few days later looking for it. All the money and cards were still inside! I'm not from SD but this CVS had a long line the 2 times 2 different days. It seems as it's super busy in the evening and only 2 clerks working. Another note, I was trying to use my $2 coupon off that I sent to my Extra Care card and their system wasn't working so I couldn't even use it. It expired the next day. The clerk offered for me to come in the next day and use it once the system was working but I'm not from here my plane leaves tomorrow. She explained how the system updates but I feel CVS should be updating their system at 2am when it's not busy. Not in the evening. The CVS seems a little run down for the area it's placed in. This has got to be the worst pharmacy in San Diego. The staff is rude and has no customer service skills. Everytime I have to deal with them they are super unfriendly and seem to hate their job. I recently went in and wanted to know the cost of my perscription because I received a text insurance won't cover it. I wanted to know the cost because money is tight right now. The young female I spoke with told me she did not know cost off the top of her head. When I asked her to please look it up I was told she could not give me cost until she filled perscription. This is pure laziness and never has happened at any place I have been to before. How am I suppose to know if I can afford if they won't look up the price? Makes no sense at all and will be more work for them if I have them fill it and don't pick up because the cost is too high. I will be transferring my perscriptions,ASAP. I know there are many pharmacies who will go the extra mile to help a customer. Unfortunately this is not one of them. Attn. Management: look for a new empathic and competent staff for your pharmacy or your customers will ne dissappearing quickly. read more

One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I came to this location on a Monday night to purchase a bottle of whiskey. When I got to checkout and showed my ID, the cashier asked to see my friends' IDs as well. They didn't have theirs with them, so the woman refused to sell me the bottle. She began to explain the alcohol sales policy, but with a horrible condescending tone. I guess my disgust showed through my face, because she stopped her explanation and asked if I would like to speak to the manager. That made no difference! The manager was just as rude as the cashier. Their policy is ridiculous (everyone WITH the one purchasing the alcohol must have an ID), but it would have been fine had they not been so awful to my friends and me. Finally, when I asked them not to speak to me in this way, I was told that I was overreacting. I am abhorred at this. read more

I asked for advice from the pharmacist, at which point she informed me this was due to my insurance. No it wasn't. It was due to your pharmacy charging 4X the price of other local pharmacies. Ever since CVS took over this Longs, the service has gone straight down the toilet. Longs never had the best customer service, but it was much better than what is now. It's surprising too because it seems to be the same five employees as before. They do have some great prices on handles of vodka though. A 1.75L bottle of Smirnoff is only $16.99... For that price, I'll wait ten minutes while the cashier attempts to perform his job while his head is crammed firmly up his ass. read more

Terrible service! Today I was going to take passport photos there and asked where the photo booth was. An employee who was really bossy (an old Caucasian woman with long blonde hair) told me I can't take the photo because I was wearing a white shirt. Then I told my husband about it and he asked another employee who was responsible for the photos again to make sure it. The person in charge said it's totally fine with my outfit. So we took the photos. While we are waiting for our payment, my husband was out of the store at that time. The RUDE employee who is a RACIST said like this; "you asked the same question to every single employee so that you get the answer that you wanted to hear. If your photos were rejected, we can't guarantee to refund" HOW RUDE SHE WAS. I want an apology! You can't treat customers like that rude. If you don't want to change your attitude, you better be laid off and relax at home with your own negative energy. If you don't apologize to me, I will mail to CVS for you to be fired. *side notes: 1- I checked the government website for the passport photos requirements. There is no mention of not wearing white shirts. In addition, they show people wearing white shirts as the correct examples. She was totally wrong and mean to me with no reasons. 2- I looked at other customer reviews here, most of them are the terrible customer service saying an older Caucasian blond long hair! This CVS is A-okay with me! It's open 24 hours which is awesome, and it's quite large so you will find whatever it is you're looking for. The check out situation is a little weird - you have to walk to the middle of the front part of the store which isn't obvious, so I felt like an idiot when I just walked up to an open register and the woman told me I'd have to wait in line. What line? Oh, the one hidden in the middle of the store haha. It can get pretty packed sometimes, and the parking situation at peak hours is ATROCIOUS! Seriously, there are hundreds of spots but if you go during rush hour, you won't find one. Only downside? Sometimes there is a homeless guy out front who is very persistent in his shake down tactics. He's an always be closing type, seriously. He was a salesman in a past life in sure. It's fine we all have to make a living somehow, but being a girl coming out of the store at night and having him jump all over me is startling and a little scary. He chased me to my car once, true story. So if you see him, give him a smile and walk away as fast as you can. Or give him a couple bucks like I do :) read more

Ironically, I enjoy shopping at all the other CVS departments (Food, Photos, Beauty, Households) apart from the Pharmacy department. I had a sinus infection and was prescribed by my ENT physician to take some antibiotics. During the whole diagnosing process, my ENT physician made me feel at ease and taken cared of, even though I was worried-sick and stressed out. My positiveness what instantly washed away when I came to this particular CVS Pharmacy located at Town Centre Drive to pick up my meds. Both the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician failed to make me feel like they take my well-being to heart, and were frustratingly impatient and irritable. The pharmacy technician (Dennis?) didn't give me eye contact when he rung me up, nor did he offer me to counsel the Pharmacist (Joseph) about the new meds that were prescribed by my ENT. This failure to provide an offer to counsel is a violation of professional responsibility. I gotta admit, I was upset walking out of CVS. CVS has always been infamously known to give long hour shifts to Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, and this takes a big hit on the quality of customer service they provide. I will continue to come to CVS for snacks, get photos developed, buy over-the-counter products, but I will probably go to Ralph's or UCSD Pharmacy to pick-up meds. read more

I hate coming here. It's as if the DMV decided to expand into selling chips and shampoo or something. It doesn't matter what time of the day or how many customers are in line, the checkout process is always a nightmare. Today was no exception. But while usually one only had to deal with slow yet friendly cashiers, I had the misfortune of dealing with one sporting a bad attitude. Since he was all dressed up in his Sears best dress shirt and neck tie, I assume he was also the manager. The line started to snake into the wine section when Mr. Manager decided to open up another cashier station. He barked out orders at us to form lines (we were in one long line). When I got to him he made some smartarse comment about how we couldn't even figure out how to form lines. He's giving US attitude about the checkout process?? After paying I asked him to toss the receipt and told him I didnt need a bag (all I bought was microwave popcorn and water). He snapped at me with a "what??" while making one of those annoying scrunchy faces. Almost made me slap him with the popcorn. I slowly reiterated "III DOOOONNNNTTT NNEEEEEEEDD TTTTHHHHHEEEE BAAAAGGGG". Look, I get it. People have bad days. He probably woke up this morning and realized that he works at CVS. I guess I'd have a bad day too if I also came to that realization. But whoever is managing that store needs to figure out how to make the checkout process better. And maybe they should send Mr. Manager to customer service training or on vacation before he snaps and attacks a customer with a sale-priced umbrella. read more

I came in for a flu shot at 8pm. Its 8:36pm right now and I waited for them to process my information. Finally, they tell me there is something with my insurance that they would have to figure out in order to bill my insurance for the shot. BUT that would be done tomorrow morning BECAUSE SHE HAS "A CRAP LOAD OF STUFF TO DO" said the pharmacist. They close at 11 and its only 8, she should be serving me and NOT MAKING AN EXCUSE because they have so much stuff to do besides provide service to a customer. read more

My husband and I had to make a last minute, late night trip to CVS for face masks. Random, I know. I discovered I would be exposed to a few people with the stomach flu the next day at work, and I was not in the mood to end up with it! So we went to the store. In spite of the late hour, the cashier warmly greeted us as we walked through the door. She even offered to help us find something, even though she had a couple of people in line. It was easy to find the right section, compare products, and make a decision. Upon getting back to the front, we noticed there were quite a few more people in line. A second cashier came up and opened a line to relieve the first one. I appreciate when businesses do that, instead of just making everyone wait. Our cashier, the same one who warmly greeted us, alerted me to a 30% coupon about to expire on my ExtraCare rewards card. Score! I would have never known if she had not been so conscientious. The only thing that knocks the store down one store is the strange location, empty parking lot, and odd layout of the store. But the most important things are there: good employees and in-stock products. read more

I've been shopping at this CVS (which I like a lot) for over a year now. My past experience has been great, but there's been a newish lady working the cash register (and possibly managing the store?) for the past several months Who makes me feel very uncomfortable. I can't tell if she's trying to be nice or just condescending but I always feel like shes waiting to catch me stealing. I can understand that, particularly with self check out, customers need to be watched/monitored. But on multiple occasions she has literally left the cash register to stand over my shoulder and watch me scan individual items and complete the transaction. I prefer self check out when I plan to do multiple transactions, mostly because I'm pretty sure cashiers hate it when people want them to ring up three separate orders with various coupons on multiple receipts. The other day I went in to get some vitamins which were advertised as some thing you get extra bucks back for on your receipt. In this case it was $10 and so I was walking around trying to figure out what to buy with those $10 (if I don't use the extra bucks right away I tend to forget about them and let them expire). So anyway I decided on some snacks which I planned to pay for with the extra bucks I'd receive on the receipt of my first transaction. As soon as I got to the checkout part she walks over and is literally standing over my shoulder. I'm pretty sure at first she was just trying to see if I had paid for the bag I was using (which I did), and then noticed the snacks in my basket to the right (opposite of the bagged items I purchased). She asked me if I planned to purchase those and I said yes but i was going to use the coupon on my receipt once it printed. She started asking me about the coupon, and then the snacks (this is where I can't tell whether she's trying to be nice or just condescending). And then she pointed out that she saw me looking at the makeup earlier. I felt like she was looking for an explanation as to where the makeup was and why it wasn't in my basket. So I told her I had just been trying to find something to spend my $10 on so was walking around. Then she proceeded to stand next to me as I finished my second transaction and left the store. I walked away feeling so icky and defensive. Again, I get that part of the job is to monitor customers and make sure they don't steal or pull a fast one. I really do get that. But the way she does it is just so unsubtle to the point where it feels personal. It's gotten to a point where I walk in, see her, and think "here we go again". There's a fine line between monitoring customers and making them feel like criminals. But time and time again she crosses that line and I walk out feeling uncomfortable and defensive. I will be transferring my prescriptions elsewhere as I'm tired of having to defend myself and explain my purchases. read more

I loved this store when it was Longs. The service was not great but better than it is now as CVS. The same employees still work there with a couple more incompetent ones. They can't seem to get it together when there is more than 3 people in the store. Try and get lottery tickets and most are sent into a tail spin! The only reason I go here is out of convenience, and the prices are pretty good on certain items. Drive a few blocks an avoid this store if you can... read more
