If there is a zero star rating, it is what I would give with this review. I've been with this location for decades and I must acknowledge that at some point it had earned my loyalty. Unfortunately, it has recently given me a string of frustrating experiences. I tried to speak to the manager (Mahjid?) in the hope that we could discuss my latest negative encounter and find a way to correct and prevent the problem from occurring again. The manager showed no interest to listen and was quick to blame the case manager that sent the Rx on behalf of our physician. I have heard enough! The worst pharmacy location ever~~ Every time I go there to pick up my medicine the line is a huge.. And they are always short of staffs. I have to wait at least 30mins to pick up my one medicine. And recently I needed my medicine refill, and pharmacy technician supposed to contact my MD for an authorization, however, it's been a week they still haven't gotten hold of them!! Ridiculous!!!! I've not taken them a week.( even though I am not supposed to skip my meds for a day). I had to call my MD's office once and I got an approval. This pharmacy location staffs are unreliable. In additionally, all the staffs are unprofessional in here, except technician name 'Tony'. He is the only person that's is helpful and friendly. During the day the intake and pick up lines are long for the pharmacy but luckily my doctor has this new neat way of sending my perscriptions electronically so all I have to do is pick it up. The wait it no more than 10 minutes each time. On the down side, the items CVS has is more expensive than most grocery stories so I rarely buy anything else. Also, you know you're in a good neighborhood when stoners walk around looking for munchies and stink up the store. This store is pretty much what you would expect from most CVS locations. You pretty much have the basics and no real problems except that the pharmacy staff is very slow and rude. However, management has allowed the most ghetto, disgusting and worthless homeless people to stand outside and beg for money constantly. Every time you go in and out of the store there is somebody there begging you for money. All of these fake causes like helping women that are homeless or helping children that need homes are such bullshit. They really need to get rid of all those worthless low lifes...anybody that wants to donate money will do so on their own and do not need to be bothered every time they go into some type of store. I live right behind this CVS so I frequently visit this location. I've always loved CVS so I was happy to know one was so close by. I've never had an issue at this location. The cashiers have always been nice. Sometimes the line gets really long but I work retail. That isn't always the cashiers fault, sometimes a million people come in at once. Once it's my turn they are always smiling and friendly the wait doesn't seem to matter anymore. I am an avid target shopper but this local one is horrible. I was in a pinch a few months back and needed a perscription filled. They were able to fill it right away and I learned it's a 24 hr pharmacy. Even better!! Now I can stop by when I get off work late and night and there isn't a line. As you will see in a lot of pictures people posted the pharmacy line is always long. But at night it's better. The pharmacist is amazing and extremely helpful. He helped me save 40$ last week by recommending a different item. I will wait in line for 10 mins to save money and have someone so helpful. The store could use a little remodeling but its not dirty just a little run down. Still 5/5 for me. read more

Store location #8883 in Santa Ana,CA IS RIDICULOUS! I brought my film in for processing, called them for information on my order a few weeks later and they informed me that if I didn't receive a phone call from the store then they cannot help me find my photos. Another week passes and I drop in to check on my order and I see my order on the film counter. Nobody had ever bothered to call to let me know my order was ready to be picked up! I receive my order and it's missing the digital images on cd even though it is explicitly stated on the film processing envelope "Your images will be on a CD at no extra charge". The supervisor who had assisted me informed me that because of the missing cd, he is only charging me half the price but I still paid $14 per film processed!!! That is the normal price as listed!!! This place is a joke and the service is a joke. The staff clearly lacks customer service skills and don't have any process in place for film orders and if they do, they are not being adhered to. I had dropped off four sets of film at the post office and have so far have only received two. I might also mention that I initially brought my film directly into the store location and the CVS employee assisting me informs me that I need to drop it off at the post office because if I leave it it's the store, they will lose it! He wasn't warning me, he said it so matter of factly that it seemed more of a promise of a failed service than a potential for clumsiness! Worst experience and very frustrating! read more

Stopped in to grab some travel necessities while I was in town. I just needed some small travel sizes of stuff like toothpaste and deodorant, but the selection was pretty small. Grabbed some juice and chips and headed up to the counter to pay where a nice older lady asked me If I had a CVS card. Being from out of town from a place where CVS's don't exist, I told her no. "Do you want one?" "No thanks, I'm not from here." She paused and then took out a card anyway and said "Here, just in case you need to get anything before you leave." It was less a sales move then it was something I might call genuine concern. She seemed to be legitimately interested in making sure I got all the discounts I could if I shopped there. Nice. Okay... CVS locations can be hit or miss, and this one has DEFINITELY struck out. You're fist welcomed by the store's depressing facade and interior. This CVS has as much charm as a decrepit old nursing home in total disrepair. The place is falling apart and seems dirty. And if you're coming here for the pharmacy, you'll have plenty of time to take in the nastiness of the place because your wait will be unbearably long. On average, it has taken me around 20 minutes just to drop off a prescription. Sometimes you'll get through the drop-off line only to have your soul crushed when they say your med is out of stock. It's happened several times to me. I thought I had outsmarted the system when I decided to call ahead and check on whether they had my meds in stock. Only problem with this plan is that they do not answer the phone, and when they do answer, it is only to put you on hold where they will ignore you until you hang up. Seriously, this is their normal operating mode at this CVS. It is infuriating to be left on hold for 30 minutes. I once even showed the pharmacist my phone so he could see that I had been on hold for that long. He feigned some sympathy and then of course told me that my medication was not in stock! (That incident was the final straw for me, by the way, and I haven't been back to this location since.) After waiting in the drop-off line, if you have the misfortune of needing your medication right there, you're going to be waiting a minimum of 30 more minutes (sometimes nearly an hour) for the Rx to be filled. Oh wait, there's more! Once your medication is ready, you have to get back in a line to actually pay for it (assuming you haven't already died waiting for your drugs). So please do yourself a favor, and go to any pharmacy besides this one! There are other options nearby. This is quite honestly the worst CVS location I've ever visited, and I've lived all over the country in areas much "rougher" than Costa Mesa could ever dream of being. It's bad. read more

So when I get there, I'm informed that my drugs may not be in stock so I can wait longer to find out IF they have my drug then wait to get it filled. Wrong. You need to have it done as promised. DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY. They are totally inept. Every single time I call them, a combination of three things will happen: 1) I wait on hold forever - 40 min is my personal record before I gave up. 2) They hang up on you. At first I thought maybe my phone cut out but it's happened multiple times, including when I have full bars. 3) They can't find the prescription and/or my account. Literally the last four times I've tried to get a prescription filled, all three of these things has happened. Also, they have never sent me any sort of notification that my prescription is ready, even though I opted into the text service and ask every time I go in if they could please fix it. I picked this one because it is the closest to my house but honestly everytime I come to pick up a prescription the line is really long and there will only be one person working the register. I don't really leave reviews, but tonight the store manager of this CVS, Tom, displayed the most incompetent and immature customer service I have EVER seen. I went to this CVS with my good friend who is set to have surgery on his shoulder in the coming months and misplaced his arm sling. While we were in line to pay for the sling, my friend accidentally knocked over a small candy stand. The store manager, Tom, walked over and we apologized. He said nothing and walked off. I then walked over to the electronics section to buy a phone charger which I forgot to grab and the same, wonderful Tom came over to unlock the cabinet. By this time my friend had paid for the sling and put it on (he was in excruciating pain) and when he walked up he said to Tom, "I just want to apologize again.." Tom cut him off and said, "Well, usually when people make a mess at a store they clean it up" and walked off. I honestly couldn't believe that the store manager would even talk to a customer like that, but to yell at a customer with a shoulder injury, and ask him to use his shoulder to pick up some candy that he spilled had me dumbfounded. I thought Tom didn't notice the sling so I asked, "Tom, are you really was asking a paying customer in an arm sling clean up some candy that fell?" He turned around, looked us in the eyes and said "yes, I do." I've had worked in management for a long time, and still do. I have a question for the GM's, other store managers, and even shareholders - - is this in the employee handbook? Let's say my friend wasn't INJURED AND IN AN ARM SLING, would that justify scolding the PAYING CUSTOMER in front of the whole store about how he should've picked it up? A couple minutes later as I was checking out with my stuff, Tom decided to come back to the front of the store where he continued to bicker about how my friend should've picked up the candy, and yes, my friend was still wearing the ARM SLING that HE JUST BOUGHT AT THIS CVS. There was at least 10 customers in line all shaking their heads at Tom in disbelief. I was still shocked that he hadn't apologized, or at the bare minimum stopped bickering like a child in front of other customers. I would suggest that regional management check the cameras to verify the talking points above. I have no idea how Tom became store manager but I do know that if he stays the store manager, this store will be closed soon. I will never return to this CVS and I hope management reevaluates who fills the role of "store manager." The other employee's look to the store manager for guidance, and the only guidance here was how to lose a loyal customer. read more

I usually only go to CVS if I can't find something at Target. Everything is so much more expensive, I'm referring to basic stuff like qtips, toilet paper, etc. That's why I don't ever buy that kind of stuff here. So anyway, I went here to get a special kind of nail polish remover. I found it and checked out using the self service payout machine (whatever you call it) which was the first time I've ever seen at a CVS. I thought that was a great addition since lines are mysteriously long here. I still don't get why there are always long lines. Oh maybe because there's only one cashier working! Anyway, I went to Target afterwards and found that they are now carrying the special type of nail polish remover! It was $3 less too! So I went back to CVS (it's just across the street) and returned it. The cashier was trying to be funny and say I couldn't return it. I explained that I found it for cheaper at Target. He jokingly continued to say there's no way I could have since it was a CVS brand. I sarcastically joked back and said well whatever it is I found it for way cheaper. He continued joking thinking he was being cute about it but in my world he was not funny and being slow. Like dude, just process the return and give me my $4 back! I was so happy to get out of there. this is the most convenient CVS for me but i really try not to come here if i can help it. i'd much rather go to Target. However, there are times when i don't feel like driving to Target and just need to get something really quick. it could range from a greeting card to over the counter meds. the good thing is that this place is 24 hours. three stars because the staff is really nice and they always greet you when you come in. However, the customers that come in sometimes can be questionable. i also get a semi unclean feeling when i am in this place. better to get in, get your stuff, and get out. read more

If you're coming down with the flu at 2 AM and there's no way you can miss work, this place is a godsend. Asked when they would have more - two weeks. Seriously WTF. Went to Walgreens down the street asked if we could get transfer of prescription. The pharmacist at Walgreens waited 25+ minutes on hold for CVS pharmacy. I drove back to CVS and had them pick up the damn phone and give Walgreens details. What I got was, we don't have it...I asked do you know of a pharmacy near by: "no". Unfriendly. I found Walgreens on Bristol thanks to Yelp. I suggest going there.
