CVS Pharmacy. 257 Mt Herman SV. I believe most people don't understand (or don't care) what goes into filling med prescriptions. The personnel deal with several different insurance companies, venders, suppliers, manufacturers, very frustrated customers, occasional short staffing, seasonal virus's, and doctor's offices. Like any other business, serving the public is consistently challenging. Imagine if you had to contact each agency/office/doctor yourself. My experience with this location has been nothing short of great. Sure, occasional long lines due to some sonic movement when several folks show up at the same time. Today was the final time I will be going to this location. The idiocy of the self checkout system is absurd. The cashiers stand around waiting to help people who can't figure out the system is a ridiculous concept. The lines back up while the customer is front of the line fumbles through the process. This review is strictly aimed at the pharmacy. Tina Le, their pharmacy manager is the most rude and condescending employee in the store. She should be removed from her position immediately as someone suppling a service to people who are in need. I was trying to get some urgent medicine for my elderly sick father and all we were met with were lies and attitude. VA confirmed over the phone the medication was approved and $0 cost and ready for pickup. The VA approved the medication at $0 cost, but Tina Le/CVS was trying to charge us $1000+ for the medication. Tina had no interest in helping/calling VA to resolve the problem because she was about to close for the day (30 minutes until closing by the way). Fine, she said to come back when they open at 10 am and she would call them first thing when CVS opened. I arrived 15 minutes late to ensure Tina had time to call VA to resolve whatever issue there was between CVS and VA. I was met with nothing but negativity from Tina stating "we don't open until 10, I will call you when it's ready." I told her, you said last night you would resolve first thing when you opened, and now it's 10:15, can you call them now to resolve it? Naturally, Tina Le met that with a disgusted look and stated "this will take a long time." I follow up with "ok how long?" Tina ignored my question and went back to the computer, and started helping another customer. 5 minutes later Tina said "it was approved," tossed the medication to the cashier and that was that. Imagine all of that disgusting behavior just for a 5 minute or less call with VA to figure out why their systems did not match. Tina Le is rude, condescending, dishonest, and unwilling to help; she should not be in the position to helping people in need when they're already in a not so favorable situation. read more

There's this one employee curly blonde hair tanner skin and she was being extremely rude to a woman next me rolling her eyes and very gross attitude only because the woman was told her meds were on hold and she was confused as to why they didn't have them. I would not recommend this location for photos or front store , and while neither are perfect, I would recommend the CVS in Felton or the Walgreens in Scotts Valley. Can't speak on pharmacy. I don't like sharing negative reviews, but I have had several runs with the photo department. They've notified me that my photos or projects are ready, and then they aren't (this has happened 3x, twice for the same order once!) I always have to wait, even though there's no line. And finally, this last time, after waiting for a clerk for a few minutes, he told me to have a "better day". Note that I was not rude whatsoever, just neutrally, patiently waiting in line (I was not smiling haha... but I was not rude). I took this as aggressive. Honestly, I'm a little tired of dealing with men who take women who are straightforward and do not entertain them as a problem. When I called later to talk to the manager because this run in was still bothering me, it turned out that this was actually the manager or their friend, and they did not listen and laughed when I hung up. The CVS pharmacy by Safeway in Scotts Valley always upsets me when I have to pick up a monthly controlled substance. They look down their noses at me and I feel very uncomfortable. I'm not imaging this. Today my script was not in stock even though my doctor put the scrip in 5 days before I needed to pick it up. I was told the order would not be available until tomorrow..maybe. She said for me to go to another CVS and said she could not let me know who had any of the medication. I went across the street to CVS at Target who had a small qty in stock that they could fill for me, and they informed me that the other CVS had 22 in stock! They were able to note the stock at the other CVS unlike what Safeway CVS said. I also asked the Safeway CVS why if I get an automated message saying my scrip will be filled on such and such a date that when I show up they have none in stock. I'm very upset with how this one particular pharmacist treated me and every month when I go to this pharmacy, I dread it when she is there. She is very unkind, very unhelpful and very judgmental. The man with the glasses, grayish hair, and has a beard was so unbelievably rude not sure if he is the manager but he sure looked like he was. It was 10 minutes till closing , yes I know that is pretty close but I was going to CVS for simply 1 item, yes 1 ITEM!! As i'm pulling into a parking spot the supposed manager and an employee were just starting at me with the nastiest look on there face, As I was getting out they were practically racing to bring a sign inside so they could lock me out, mind you there was still 10 minutes?? As I was walking inside I was not greeted with a "hello, how are u doing, just to let you know we do close in 10 minutes" , that would be the correct way to greet a customer in that situation, CVS employees should take notes. But no i was greeted by the manager saying "We close in 5 minutes" in a very aggressive manner, mind u the store didn't close for another 10 minutes. I quickly responded "i'm only getting one item". What store questions there customers like that? The whole 2 minutes I was in the store I felt so judged and could feel them just staring with nasty looks on their faces. Never have I ever had an experience in any store like i did here, I will definitely not be going back. End of the story corporate should really look into some of there employees, and do a better job picking them because personally I feel nobody like those staff I encountered should EVER be working in customer service. For the last 12 years I have asked CVS Scotts Valley not to refill prescriptions until I ask them to. They have consistently ignored my request. One honest CVS pharmacist at this location admitted that they are required to complete refills before the customer asks. I usually have to go to CVS to ask them to cancel refills that have already been filled. After 12 years of this I have no hope they will ever listen to me and honor my request. I stopped by the CVS in scottsvalley and was instantly greeted by Carly, she was very welcoming. After I had found all of my items, one of which was locked, I made my way to the register and Carly unlocked my item and helped me with checkout! Stay away! Dangerous pharmacy gave me the wrong prescription twice. My doctor sent the correct prescription, the pharmacy wrongly filled it, twice! When I confronted them with facts the pharmacist tried to say I was wrong even with their database correct, my photographs of the wrong prescription. Paperwork doesn't lie. Bad shady pharmacists do! The reviews on Yelp speak for themselves about this place. My anger wasn't over wrong cough drops, this could be a life or death mistake for someone some day. Jeannette was helpful even when it wasn't her responsibility. Update: Tina the pharmacy manager called and admitted their mistake. Good for Tina but I'm still going to a new pharmacy from now on this could have been dangerous. read more

This review is for the CVS in target on Douglas Avenue. I went in today to pick up my dogs prescription. The gentleman behind the counter brought it out and it was $90 since obviously my dog does not have health insurance. I was rather taken aback at the price and I did not have a credit card that would take that amount of money. He took it back to reduce the quantity so it would be more affordable and in the meantime tried a different coupon for a dog prescriptions, and was able to cut the price down by 2/3! The staff here is friendly but the pharmacists have some kind of power trip when it comes to controlled substances. The lead pharmacists Phuong Huynh refuses to allow Good RX for controlled subs, because you know we are all trying to sell our medications on the street, having a coupon will make that easier? It's amazing that anyone is allowed to make a policy like that arbitrarily and get away with it. We left a terrible pharmacy only to end up at this equally terrible pharmacy. Sent me a, your prescription is ready message yesterday, came to get it today only to be told they are out of stock until Monday. They offered me no alternative solution, so the only option I'm left with is to tell my kid their treatment plan is hosed for a few days and she has to suck it up because the pharmacy lied to us and is too dumb to know how to do inventory. Let me be clear up front that this review is not a critique of the employees who work at the CVS on Mt. Hermon Road in Scotts Valley. I have always found the employees to be friendly and efficient. It is hard to say what has happened to this CVS, but if you have a list of things you need and want to be able to buy them without too much trouble, this is not the place to go. First and foremost, the shelves are empty on a regular basis at this store. It honestly reminds me of studying the Soviet Union in college in the 1980s when we were told of their empty shelves and long lines to get goods. Forget what you want to buy; at this CVS location it is a game of seeing what they have and deciding if you want it. Use a specific toothpaste? Forget it. They have one or two packages of about half of the toothpaste products they have spaces for on the shelf. Use a specific deodorant? Don't get too attached; most of the product sections on that aisle are empty too. You get the idea. The employees say they don't have enough staff to stock the shelves. Hmmmm, the seasonal and impulse-buy products are always stocked. I don't believe there are boxes and boxes of product stacked in the back room just waiting for an industrious soul to bring them out and stock the shelves. Another employee has said the lack of product is due to the preference for online shopping. Well, if CVS is going to stock fewer products because they aren't selling them, then get rid of the shelf spaces for all of the products you no longer carry! A second issue with this CVS is the sad state of their cash registers. I have been there more than once when one stopped working, so there was a long line at one open register and, of course, something goes wrong with a transaction at the remaining functional register, extending the wait even longer. The employees admit that when a register goes down it is happening "again." This is not new for them. Most drug stores carry all of the same stuff and I suspect we choose our drug store base on convenience. I always used CVS because it is close to my house, there is plenty of parking, and I know the store layout. It is time to start driving the extra two blocks to Walgreens, figure out the easiest places to park in that lot, and learn the layout there. Going to CVS means winding up having to go elsewhere to get what I need, anyway, so why waste the time? It does not seem like corporate is doing anything to make this location better in terms of stock and check out, so it is time to move on. read more

Love the Scott's valley location. Ian is a great manager and truly cares about his customers and team. Crystal upfront in the mornings is wonderful too! She helps me ring up my items for the day with a big smile and lots of contagious energy. She always seems two steps ahead on any question I may have or item I need. The worst service at the front of the store. I went in for a few things. At check out the person in front of me was sending money somewhere. It took FOREVER. People, me, were standing there to be checked out. It took two people to check out the woman. They didn't look up and say "we'll be with you." They never acknowledged me. THEN, finally one worker took the person BEHIND me to another check out and left me there waiting some more. Unbelievably bad customer service with only one cashier available. Had a horrible experience at this pharmacy last week. Not only are they significantly understaffed, but there seems to be a lack of organization. I called to verify my prescription was ready for pick up and was told my prescription was put back in stock as I hadn't picked it up in time. Ok, no problem. I asked that it be filled again and was told an additional doctor authorization was needed. I called my PA who in turn called the pharmacy. I was told everything was now ok. I went into the store a two-three days later assuming all was well. I was told an order for my prescription could not be found. The clerk checked the computer and paperwork to no avail. At the same time a woman was waiting for a prescription for her husband, who was in the car and had just finished his first chemo treatment, and her prescription wasn't ready. She was told it could take an hour to fill. I came back a few days later to pick it up and was told it wasn't run through insurance. I asked why as I had picked the same rx up a month earlier and it was covered. The clerk went to another computer to do something. During that time another customer came in and her prescription wasn't ready either. When my clerk returned I said don't worry about insurance I'll just pay for it. She then notified me that the pharmacist would need to "reprocess" my order and it would be another 30 minute minimum wait. The over the counter medication shelves were empty in areas (hearing aid batteries, Epsom salts, Zyrtec, rubbing alcohol) and messy (bandaids) - it looked the same a week later. There was one call on hold for over 14 minutes while I waited for assistance. On the same visit three more calls came in that were not picked up (there is a speaker which announces number of calls). Every visit had had no less than five customers in line waiting for service. I feel sorry for the pharmacy staff- they are obviously understaffed and overworked- no excuse. Longs used to be the bomb in service, but since it's CVS they are not following suit. My PA has had nothing but issues with this pharmacy when contacting for any of her clients. Walgreens pharmacy in Scott's Valley all of has my business now. Very disappointing. read more

If I could give zero stars then I definitely would. I have been in healthcare since 2011. I just started a better field as my career this year due to the stress of COVID patients, and other personal reasons. I have worked with many pharmacist, and I can tell you that the "manager" and the other pharmacist named TINA are breaking so many Rules when it comes to patient confidentiality, patient safety and let's save the best for last....really "good" at "patient profiling" as they lie to cover the fact that they aren't. I have caught Tina (the evening shift "pharmacist") lie to me at least 10 times after not giving me a reason why she couldn't fill 2 of my prescriptions that I have been taking for 7 years from the SAME doctor. As if she had the right to tell me what I can and cannot take. One specific medication is something that it you skip a day then you're at high risk of getting a seizure, but she doesn't care. I can go on about her and the way CVS Pharmacy is, but just to be transparent and as short as possible, don't come here unless you want Tina and her "'Manager" to HOLD AND NOT TRANSFER your medications that you depend on and treat you as if you're doctor shopping. I apologize that my doctor understands that I need these medications, but my God....it was the most waste of time trying to give CVS a second chance and have it be the worst experience I have ever had to deal with at a pharmacy. As well as the fact that I KNEW why they wouldn't fill my prescriptions as well as put them on hold. So annoying. Remember that Tina "doesn't work at the SV CVS that much". I think Tina and her "Manager" need to stop acting as if they doctors as well as be on the same page when Lying to patient's. Just don't come here. Enough said. read more

Personally, I have no problem with the transformation of longs into CVS. I look forward to using coupons like $4 off of a $20 dollar purchase. And I love being able to get the high end makeup I like locally, from the Beauty 360. At the end of every season you get a certain amount of money towards your next purchase, based on how much you spent. Totally awesome! The only downfall is that sometimes they're a bit under staffed and the line can take awhile. But overall, out with the old and in with the new! read more

Yep, one star here. What has happened to this pharmacy since the beginning of the year? Consistently unable to fill scripts on time and often out of medication. Such a shame as we migrated from Walgreens across the street as they were going down the same path. Every single one of my scripts is now several days off. Someone needs to put her in charge because she is awesome) It's a good store for basic items, but some... mainly one of the pharmacists; tend to be very rude and judgmental based off your prescription. I've had the same pharmacist illegally deny my prescription so many times because it's an adhd medication. I ended up having to switch pharmacies because even my doctor was fed up with the pharmacist choosing to withhold my prescription when it was days overdue. Which would then cause my very busy doctor to have to stop his day to call this CVS every single month to prove I was legally allowed my medication. I now drive all the way to Capitola for any medications, despite living much closer to Scott's Valley CVS. Seriously, if you have a prescription that is considered a "narcotic/safe"... do not go here. Honestly, I'd only use this pharmacy if you need antibiotics, nobody should have medications withheld from them or be judged based on the medication they take!!! They even withheld my medicine when I got my wisdom teeth out; keep in mind I have no record of abusing any prescription, they just wouldn't give me my medicine until my doctors personally called them. Both my doctors recommended switching pharmacies due to how disrespectful and immoral they treated me and some of their other patients. read more

Honestly don't know what the other reviews are talking about. Huge selection and huge store in general, biggest CVS ive been in. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. I was nervous to change pharmacies because of the reviews but I had a more than happy experience with the lady at the pharmacy who helped me out with my prescriptions and answered all my questions. She was kind and helpful and I really appreciated it :) The cashiers and I am assuming the manager who work at the front have always been very helpful as well and friendly. They do usually only have one person to check you out and one at self checkout so a line is possible but it is a line at a store? Very normal.... and no one is more special than the next? If you are in a rush then you should better manage your time, not blame the people who are working and helping you check out. Also self checkout exists and is usually empty! I would ignore these reviews as ive noticed scotts valley residents are a bit extreme........ The CVS website said one of my "maintenance" drugs was available to be renewed on June 9th. I renewed it online on June 14th. The renewal was cancelled, with no notification to me whatsoever. The website then said it could be renewed on the 16th. I called and was told that was an error and it actually couldn't be renewed until the 27th, so they'd have it ready for me on the 27th. I went in on the 27th and was told it had been ordered for the 28th and would be ready after 3 PM. On the 28th, it actually was ready! This is just the worst of at least six times an order was not ready when promised, even with several days lead time. When I've given them several days to prepare my order the answer when I get there is usually "It will be ready in about 20 minutes". I certainly would not be a customer here if my medical plan didn't require me to use CVS. read more

Although it's not Longs, the Mt Hermon CVS keeps customers happy. The front store is clean and organized, and the pharmacy has pretty much everything I need. The pharmacy staff is friendly and helpful; they care for their customers and take time to explain medical details. There is always plenty of parking, and there are great restaurants nearby.
