This review is for the pharmacy only (I would give the non-pharmacy store 4 stars, but I am motivated to review the pharmacy because I am frustrated with it yet again today). I have been utilizing the Scotts Valley CVS Pharmacy for at least 5 years, and I get medicine for many family members, so I am there a couple of times a month. Most of the staff should recognize me . . . perhaps they do, but I wouldn't know it by their greetings. To my knowledge, I have never done anything that would be a problem for them. I am fortunate to have good insurance that covers the medications I pick up; I don't have any prescriptions that raise eyebrows; I keep on top of the refills and don't leave things languishing to be restocked; and I try to be pleasant when I use the pharmacy. However, I frequently feel that I am some kind of problem for the pharmacy staff. A previous reviewer mentioned Debbie. I agree that she had a particularly unpleasant manner, but few of the employees at the CVS Scotts Valley Pharmacy seem to care at all about the challenges faced by customers. As another poster mentioned, I have to give myself a little pep talk every time I go to this pharmacy because it is rarely a pleasant experience. Today I had another unpleasant experience. The pharmacy closed early due to a holiday, but I didn't realize it. I had checked to see the hours, and I thought it said they closed at 7pm, but apparently those were the hours for the Capitola CVS. I arrived at Scotts Valley around 2pm and was told that the pharmacy was closed and that I could not pick up my son's medication. There were at least 4 pharmacy staff members there, but apparently they had shut down the cash registers and could not check me out. I asked if there was any way I could just get one day's worth of my son's prescription and then come back for the rest (I had no problem private paying for this), but they said no, without even pretending that they realized I was in a pickle. I called the Capitola CVS from the Scotts Valley store, and Capitola said they could give me my son's medicine if Scotts Valley could take it off their shelf. Again, the CVS staff said no, without acting as if they had any concern about me not being able to get my son's medicine for the next morning. I asked Scotts Valley what time they would be open tomorrow morning, to see if it would work for me to pick the medicine up then, and one of the clerks responded, kind of snarkily, "8am, as usual," as if it was annoying that I asked. I don't go in at 8am because I am usually at work. If this is how they act to a person who is a calm, civil customer who is able and willing to pay for medication, I can only imagine how they respond to people who are really in dire straits. Although this location is convenient for me, and I have all of my family's medication auto filled here, I think I am going to switch to another pharmacy and drug store. I am tired of having to deal with the unpleasant attitudes of the CVS Scotts Valley pharmacy staff. read more

This review is for CVS Pharmacy in Scotts Valley in particular. Every time I needed to get a prescription here I have to give myself a pep talk that I wasn't going to get annoyed. That pretty much failed every time. I'm not sure why everyone in this pharmacy has the ability to make people so mad so quickly. I guess it's a combination of arrogance and rudeness and that horrible long line that is always present. It got to be so stressful I just switched to Walgreens and once again getting prescriptions is an almost pleasant task. read more

I just walked out of this location after speaking to someone who I believe is named Sheri. I had searched on line for places to send a fax and CVS displayed as a location who provides this service. I stood near the photo area and was ignored not once, but twice before I literally had to walk directly in front of her to ask twice about faxes, she replied in a snotty tone that CVS doesn't do faxes. I explained I had seen it online and she just put her mouth in a frown and shook her head. How about "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but we don't provide that service". I highly suggest she work on her smiling and communication skills if she is going to continue to interface with the public. Another customer luckily overheard and quickly pointed me to a location that could help me. It's a sad day when another customer offers more kindness than a store employee. read more

CVS in Scotts Valley is not HORRIBLE, but it isn't all that great either. I have to remind myself that at least it is not the CVS downtown. WIth that said... For your run of the mill drug store stuff, not too shabby. It's got all the cheapo cosmetics (plus some not so cheapo cosmetics). Your vitamins, cold and cough meds, etc. etc., snacks, even at one time Mexican Coca-cola-you know, the kind that comes in the glass bottle, made with sugar as opposed to high-fructose corn syrup? The register people are generally nice, with one relatively new woman with short hair who is just manic, it seems...I mean, in a good way...a lot of energy, and this bright optimism that I wish would rub off on some of the other employees...or customers for that matter. The pharmacy. Oh the pharmacy. I don't know whether to feel sorry for the people who work behind that counter (it seems every time I pick up a prescription someone is close to verbally abusing an employee or demanding the store manager be called) or throw my own patience to the wind and become like every other whining customer whose order has been screwed up. That's harsh. It hasn't happened to me in a long, long time...however, these are medications and people's lives, not everyone is savvy enough to actually check that the pills they got are the RIGHT ones prescribed by the RIGHT doctor... ... ...To be fair, the people that do work behind that much maligned pharmacy counter are not unpleasant. Jordan is great, I don't know how he does it. I have to keep in mind what an unforgiving job it must be at times, however, that's no excuse for some of the medication errors I have experienced and have seen others experience in the past. read more

Store does nothing to stop shoplifting. I watched 3 people walk out setting off the alarm. They actually looked back in disbelief when nobody came. I'm sure the word will get around(which it seems to already) that unless you are caught in the store you can walk out the door, set off the alarms and nobody will question you. Who pays for this .... paying customers. When I asked the store employees the said they are directed to not do anything unless they see them steal, even when the alarms go off. Why have alarms??? This was in the PM and the parking lot had several homeless .. A few fighting in the parking lot. Not a safe place to go. read more

I like to write this to thank Scotts Valley CVS Pharmacist Ms.Phuong to help resolve the issue of my son's transferred prescription so quick. So he wouldn't miss any dosage! It happened last Friday, Ms. Phuong called our son's doctor and took care the problem this Monday. I am so impressed by her patience to listen and the knowledge to help patient. Plus the cashier - forgot her name(with a little blue color on her front hair), she was so kind and helpful. I am so glad that our Scotts Valley has a such friendly pharmacy in our town. This store is ok...except i can't stand one girl who sometimes is a cashier up front. she has a bad attitude. and she never smiles..once again it's called "customer service" i think she should be trained a little better or maybe she shouldn't be working there. The other employees aren't bad except when I'm looking at makeup, there are several employees stocking items onto the shelf and when you walk by them, they look at you but don't say anything...like hello how are you would be nice..... read more

It's alright with this CVS. I look for what I need and out in 10 minutes. They have plenty of registers but only one is open and the other cashier is closing up, therefore it takes long (er) to pay and leave. read more

CVS Pharmacy folks are so professional ! They have helped me out so many times as liaisons between my doctors and the insurance company. They really go the extra mile. The layout of this CVS is logical, and the place is always clean. I also love that they have a wide selection of products from which to choose. The CVS card and the discount coupons are a pain, but I can live with it. read more

Unprofessional, surly, incompetent, understaffed. Distinctly lacking in customer service, made my handicapped father stand for well over 5 minutes, blatantly ignoring him, while they foodled around doing god knows what. Uncooperative about getting pre authorization for a medication that could potential be a life saver. The pre authorization people at my mom's oncologist's office suggested any pharmacy was better than this one, they have garnered a reputation for being difficult in the professional world as well. No options on Yelp for zero stars, sad, which is what they deserve. read more

Went in today to purchase a product that they had not refilled on their shelves. After asking an Asian pharmacist and then the cashier in the same department, I got no help and was treated rudely. I was told to go to the front checkers and ask them where it was (this was a sharps disposal container). A young man in the photo dept. asked if I asked the pharmacy because they should know where it was. I explained what they said. He took me back and did help me by getting another checker to look in the back for more stock. She came out with a box of them and handed me one. I told her I needed another and she handed it to me with her head turned. I said thank you and she just walked away. This was at noon on July 3, 2019 and they were not busy. Very poor service when three out of four employees treat you rudely and have no manners. They acted as though I was interrupting their day by asking them to do their job. I will always go to Walgreens or Rite Aid from now on. read more

The store clerks are usually pretty nice cool people. The only really awful part to this CVS is how ridiculously lame and slow the pharmacy is. If that improved I'm sure it wouldn't have such poor ratings. read more

Don't bother trying to save money at Beauty 360 at CVS Pharmacies. I have tried to use 3 coupons and they turned them down. It's a total waste of time to use their site for discounts. I try to buy local, however it's a waste of time and money to use this side of the "connected" store. They are NOT connected. Never realized how much I would miss Longs until it wasn't there. I shop at CVS as it is conveniently located but I consistently find they do not carry the items I want. They have a lot of very low end generic stuff, probably bought in bulk for all their stores across the country. If I go in with a list of 10 things I'd expect to find at a drug store, they will have only 4 or 5 of them in stock. It would be nice if they could tailor their merchandise to the needs of the community. What people want in central parts of the country not necessarily what people want in environmentally attuned, health conscious Northern California. The staff though, is quite good. read more

The store is fine but the pharmacy sucks. I've had rude customer service on a regular basis. I'm transferring my prescriptions to another pharmacy as we speak. I understand people can have a bad day, but if on it's a regular basis, that's not cool. read more

One of the senior staff members of the pharmacy went out of her way to help with my prescriptions and then told me about a plan that allowed me to get 12 months of my specific medication for zero co-pay, saving me $25 a month for a full year! Very professional and friendly. Thanks! read more

Used to be a Longs now it's a CVS. I miss Longs. My husband went in there today to pickup some earache relief drops. He looked all around and found nothing. He asked the pharmacy and was told earache drops are no longer made. He asked why, and was told "people just go to the doctor's so companies stop making them". What a load of crap! A trip over to Walgreens found a bevy of earache relief drops. I will never shop in CVS again. read more
