Here's the skinny... Cycle Gear as a company is awesome. If you need anything, they will find it for you and have it shipped to their store free of charge. They are not the cheapest around so take advantage of their sales when they happen. This review is more towards the people who work there. I went in to ask about gear for my sport bike. The first guy walked up and said, "I don't ride sport bikes, let me ask this other guy who does." Well, about 20 min later, this other walks up and says, "Sorry man, no one here rides sport bikes." Okay fine, I get it, but with 3 employees on the clock, it doesn't take 20 min to help a customer out. On a separate occasion, I walked into the store and this guy was really friendly once I told him I was looking to spend a few hundred bucks on some parts. But check this out, this chick rolls up on a Ducati wearing almost nothing but a helmet, and seriously, all the employees walk towards the door to greet her... including the manager and the guys that was helping me. This made me wonder what they did when I sent my wife in there a few weeks before to pick up my turn signals because my wife was way hotter than this Ke$ha wanna-be on a bike. Over all, Cycle Gear itself is a good store but this location blows. JoJo at the Fullerton store was more professional and helpful. The staff at this store are idiots. The staff at the Fullerton store was 10x better hands down. read more

This location is larger than the Fullerton shop which is closer to my house. 20 minutes further away but well worth the drive. Leathers in stock are numerous and selection is generous. Women's gear is not as impressive but I don't care since none of it fits me anyway. Friendly, energetic, knowledgeable staff. Very accommodating as well in that they will call whoever they need to call to make sure you get what you're looking for. Very often they will have whatever it is you need the next day, but at most, one week. No charge. Well-organized, clean, well-stocked, and just a fantastic place to spend some time. I came here for the first time yesterday to purchase a clear shield for my helmet. I was honestly a little bit anxious/intimidated walking in, but I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing customer service! Both employees at the shop were so friendly and helpful (Garrett assisted me). My helmet was given to me by the bike owner with only a tinted shield, so I had no idea what brand or model it was. Garrett quickly found the appropriate clear shield and snapped it on my helmet for me. He also put the tinted shield into the plastic bag. I will definitely come back to check out the rest of the shop another time! read more

This place is horrible! I have respect for cycle gear but stay away from this location! Last sunday (Holiday) A friend of mine who spent 700$ on maintenance parts from this location asked me to help him install them and go with him to pick up a his new tire. On the way to his house in mission viejo from REDLANDS (1.5 hr drive) My tire went flat. Since My buddy was already headed to cycle gear he suggested I have them install the spare tire he had on my wheel. One of the employees an asian "BRO" named CHAD WTF? Immediately talks down on my use of a used rear tire right after I explained I drive 600 miles a week for work and just started a new job so I was in a bind. They charge 36$ to install a tire on a wheel that I already took off the bike WTF? Fine since I was in a bind and had to be to work the next day i was going to do it. Then they tell me itl take 24 hours to install the tire... After explaining my situation they narrow it down to 5 HOURS! So I Leave the wheel and tire with them. I get a call at 450 saying my tire is done At 5 I show up and they have my installed tire which is flat and leaking from the bead. Chad goes on to explain that used tires have problems with the bead sealing due to them sitting and getting hard. SO WHY THE F' DIDN'T YOU CALL ME EARLIER? YOU KNOW IM STUCK Thats somewhat believable... But why is my rim so scratched up from the tire machine.. he explains that he had trouble removing my old tire because you can't run a 180 on an r1 WTF? Next I tell him I am in a serious bind and that I know that the shop is closing in 10 min but they left me with no time to work with since they took all day to install the other tire. I told him if he would stay an extra 20 min and install it I will pick up a new tire right there on the spot which meant spending 180$ that I really didn't have to spend. He tells me NO! So the next day I called a few of the shops in my area I normally freequint and proposed the same scenario. I asked if they would have stayed to install a tire to help out a fellow biker. Every single shop said they would have taken care of me in order to get the sale if they were open that day regardless if the shop was about t close. I have used Cycle Gear for almost all of my riding gear purchases. The team at the store are riders and are great to lean on for questions. I had to exchange an item I bought online and all they really care about is making sure you have the best product for your needs, no hassle returns/exchanges. I tried on about 7 helmets at the Lake Forest store before finding a Shoei that is awesome, this is one item I wanted to try on in the store before buying... Stopped by here on my way back from SD. I've been wanting to get a riding boots but didn't quite want to order it online. I'm one of those people that unless i know the brand and know my fit, i would not order online. I've been looking at the Alpine stars Stella S-MX5 boots. and i finally came into the store to see if i can try one on. This particular store is under renovation? there's another room that has all the jackets and suits. The main room is where the accesories ( helmets, gloves, boots, etc) The boot section is pretty small but then i don't know how other stores are. Most of them were Bilt, dainese, and alpine stars. The boot that i was looking for they do have but only in size, 9, 7, 6. well i'm normally a 7.5 or 8. I tried on the 9, it was a bit big... but i know that i will like this boot once i order the 8. Nice zipper and calf extender flaps. The guys that work there are not as helpful perhaps it's sunday afternoon and they don't feel like helping much? But anyways i got what i came in for. To feel what it's liek to have the boots on. Now i'll just have to shop for the price. read more

Cycle Gear is A-Ok, and well stocked with a wide variety of motorcycle needs from gear to maintenance supplies. The staff is generally very helpful in helping you quickly find what you need. My only problem with them is they charge full retail .......... I hate that, and I hate msrp, which are bloated "sucker" prices, and I'm no sucker damnit. Given many alternatives on the internet, I end up getting what I need elsewhere. Cycle Gear however is great for things you need right now (maintenance supplies, battery, etc), would otherwise be inconvenient to order through the net, or if you simply want that helment "now" and don't mind paying double! I've been riding for about 4 months now, the friendly guys over at my local CycleGear have been very helpful and friendly from my first visit, I've never had a bad experience. The prices are great, especially during their sales, and the selection is good too. Recently I had the most unfortunate experience of my bikes battery dying on me while in the store's parking lot, Erik was very helpful, he removed my battery for me, tested it and recharged it, and watched my bike for me while I went to work in the mean time, and made sure I was up and running when I got back as the store was closing. I had some more trouble a couple of blocks away and he spotted me and pulled over to make sure I was okay, and hung out until I was on my way again. The staff at cycle gear went above and beyond while helping me find a new helmet. I had a lot of prerequisites with a transition shield and a helmet that fits my glasses and one that obviously will fit my head. There was a point in time when this was actually a good store. It's now not. I purchased a Hero3 goPro and experienced NOTHING but problems out of it. I went to the goPro website and goPro confirmed it was manufacturer and software defects. I then took the goPro back with the receipt and box to cycle gear of lake forest after I was told over the phone I would be taken care of.....when I arrived to the store I then stated how I wanted store credit to purchase a better camera they had in stock. The manager James did everything in his power not to do this as if something was coming out of HIS pockets....... Even knowing this camera had defects himself .....instead he acted condescending and made ignorant statements defending goPro ....he made statements such as'well you liked it enough to buy another one' because I told him I had 2 of them. The reason I had 2 was because mine didn't work and was unreliable and my frnd lent me his which gave me a total of 2.... I did not buy 2 of these cheap disposable cameras ..,And in the end I had to call corporate and all they did was give me another hero3 in the box which Lord knows is going to stop working completely in a month time.....just as easy as they did that they could have issued me store credit...... These people are dumb and make NO sense......Thanks guys for nothing..... I will be sure to purchase all of my electronics from best buy in the future and all of my gear on ReVzilla because it's actually cheaper and they have products in stock...... And they treat their customers with honesty and integrity and actually support and stand by the products they sell. No wonder cycle gear downsized. I'm not going back read more

Went to Cycle Gear in Fullerton a while ago, friendly and willing to help. Went to Cycle Gear in Laguna Hills to day and had killer service! I walked in like I knew what I was doing because I hate stores where people just bug for commission or whatever. Was looking at helmets, then up came the worker, Andrew I think. Anyway he showed me a great sale, helped me with fittings, answered all my goofy new rider questions. Offered advice. Was super thorough and helpful. One of the other guys helped me pick out a jacket too. They were really nice and helpful. Everyone in the store both women and men seemed to be helped equally. I was really impressed and would go back there over any other shop I have been to. They also let me use my coupon on the sale stuff too. Wow, sorry another Sedici suit on the street and just felt so sad. I can't believe the actually let customers walk out the store with such junk. Just because you combine a few of the popular names to sound like an Italian knock off does not make it Italian, in fact these Made in China junk made Psuedo Leathers are an amazing tribute to horrible salesmanship. To have a salesman tell a customer that these are better than riding naked, is like saying its better to wrap yourself in paper before going for a ride, as opposed to educating a customer towards investing in the right equipment that will actually hold up in the event of an accident. Selling a false sense of security based on horrible products. Many of the in-house brands are ridiculous here. read more

I've been to this location on several occasion. I purchased my bike from Mission Motorsports and had them throw in my Alpinestars jacket, but all my other gear has been from this store. When I first walked in... I had a lot of questions and the staff was more then helpful in answering them. James in particular is one of the guys that I see every time I come in. I've gone in to try out things and then ask him his opinion on why this vs that. James always provides a great answer that always ends up in me researching online for more info and his advice is spot on. I've picked up an Arai helmet, Alpinestars SP-2 gloves and Alpinestars Air pants prior to today's visit. I've already been to the store a few times looking to purchase some riding boots. I looked at the Alpinestars SMX 5's and the Plus. Today I came in looking to get myself one of these riding boots. Saw James and asked him what he thought and he was very honest about the quality both these boots had, but also referred me to the Dainese TR Course Out which was $70 cheaper than the A* Plus. James broke down how these two models were very similar to one another and that the safety and protection would be comparable. It was really based on my preference. James also added how the leather on the Dainese was well maintained by a special process the company would take to make sure it was good leather. Impressive fact... one of those things that makes you know that they really do know about their products and that they have experience in breaking down what would be the best purchase for me. I ended up picking the Dainese and now I have all the gear I need to feel confident on the road. I've also earned enough CycleGear points to pickup a $100 or more valued item from their reward points list. You can always purchase things online, but they will match those prices and the great thing is you can try things out before making that decision. Their return policy is outstanding and if you follow the timeframe on when you can return items -- it really is 100% satisfaction guaranteed. I read the other review where the item was returned a week later... I mean I get it... you want to say 100% satisfaction guaranteed, but when it's unfair to give these guys 1 star bc the customer didn't return the gear in the time allowed. The staff here is not unreasonable and I'm sure if they could've done something they would've done it to make the customer happy, but policies are put in place to protect other consumers. I would not feel comfortable knowing that an item such as a helmet was returned 2 weeks after it was used. 1 week is already plenty of time. That purchase was over $500 so I'm not sure why that was not a priority for the customer to bring it back within the allotted time. Anyways... I wanted to give my 2 cents regarding that and give props to this store for taking care of their customers. If you want to get the best gear out there - it'll cost you, but these guys will take the time to let you know why it's worth the extra money. And so far they have been right with all the items I have purchased. I will be coming back for more gear. read more

I never write reviews but I felt that I need to share my experience recently. I usually went here once every few weeks to buy something but after my experience, I don't think I'll ever be returning. Please follow along with this chronological sequence of events: 4/13 - Go to Cycle Gear to purchase the new RF1200. I have an RF1100 in medium so I figured I should try on the medium RF1200. Put it on, felt a little tight, but wasn't sure. The guy working there (James, see all the info on James from other reviewers) said it was a good fit so I decided to go ahead with it. 4/14 - Leave for work from 7:30 AM and didn't get home until 9:00 PM. 4/15 - Same as above 4/16 - Same as above 4/17 - Same as above 4/18 - Same as above 4/19 - Finally! I can try on the RF1200. Put it on and go for an hour ride, but quickly discovered after 30 minutes the massive amount pain coming from my temple and my ear. Taking off the helmet was incredibly painful. 4/20 - Easter Sunday, spent the day with the family and couldn't do anything about it. 4/21, 4/22, 4/23, 4/24 - Work from 7:30 AM - 9:00 PM. 4/25 - Went to Shoei regarding the situation and they said to go to Cycle Gear and that they are really good about exchanging. Drive back to Cycle Gear and the same worker that recommended the helmet (James) said he couldn't return it because I had worn it. I told him I bought the medium size based off of his recommendation. James said to talk to Shoei and I told him I just came back from Shoei and that they recommended going to Cycle Gear for an exchange. James looks at my receipt while I repeatedly tell him it was his recommendation. He said that I went beyond the "7 day return" and that he would have helped me even though I had worn the helmet, but because it was past the 7 days, he couldn't help me. So basically, I was out of luck because I didn't have the time/opportunity to bring it in within the 7 day return policy. It's not 100% satisfaction guarantee considering I spent $500+ (helmet, smoke visor) on a helmet that I bought off of a recommendation from the worker who refused to help me figure out what to do. I understand they have rules in place for a reason, but his desire to "help" really wasn't there. Because I held on to the helmet for an extra week, they automatically couldn't help? Luckily, I called another Cycle Gear who said that they were about 100% satisfaction and the guy I spoke to said he could help me out but that I would just have to go to the one out in Fullerton. read more

Since the last visit I've been back several times! Most recent visit I bought my Alpinestars jacket here and I absolutely love it! Staff again were super friendly. I don't have any complaints what so ever about this place. I even got my 20% off! Gentleman who assisted me was really nice, even took the time to talk to me about riding and showed me different things that he thought I would like. I had a choice between a textile jacket or the leather. I ended up getting the leather one and will definitely be back for the textile. I'm thinking about getting new gloves too. So I'll be back.
