I like coming here because I'm always greeted by the employee. Most of the store are 15 miles away so you can't be picky for a moto gear. When I needed parts for my motorcycle I go here for a quick fix but I would try to order it online when I can. Some of the item here are pricey. As I was walking around the store I could hear very audibly one of the people at the registers was talking badly about someone else, I would assume a previous customer. For me personally, I can post here to your Facebook and To the thousands of members on forums in Silicon Valley where I live specifically BARF (Bay Area Riders Forum) and SBR (South Bay Riders). Over the years, many threads have been posted about Cycle Gear. Friendly and Unfriendly. Here is my posting today on Facebook, Barf and SBR. I feel it is appropriate to post on your Facebook wall for two main reasons. One to recognize an awesome employee here in Silicon Valley and to pressure you to get rid of a horrible employee here in Silicon Valley that has caused huge commotions. So with that, I will repost what I have written today: Bucket List Item Checked Off Thanks To Cycle Gear! I have taken 24 hours to mull over whether I should post this or not. Mainly because the intent of the thread is it give a HELL YEAH to Jeff at the San Jose Cycle Gear because he truly deserves recognition for always helping the customer, making the customer happy and dissolving any frustration of bad situations. But, I know based on previous threads, that it may turn into a blood bath given the negative beginning of my story. Decisions Decisions...welp, the bitch in me prevails as usual. Ignore my venting session and get the real message out of this which is....well I want you to read this so I explain why at the end.... DISCLAIMER: Don't kill me Dennis. The intent is to not be a Barfer bashing a sponsor, but rather enlighten those with negative feelings about Cycle Gear that the Organization is going through a major change and for the better! I, personally can't wait to see the improvements! There are new Media Reps that are keeping tabs on all Forums so I want them to know what has happened and how it has been solved thus far. Jeff works in both the San Jose and Gilroy stores and is one of the NICEST guys I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. As some of you may remember, there was a thread a few months ago regarding Cycle Gear and what was felt as it's demise. I along with many, posted several posts of our negative experiences with Cycle Gear. My posts were mainly with regards to the most rudest woman I have ever come across in retail at the San Jose Store. You may also remember that someone from "The District" (can't remember her name and don't feel like searching through the thread) promised that if we emailed her, she would take time to listen to us and take note of our issues. Well, I emailed her twice. That was several months ago. Never heard a word even though I advised that Cycle Gear was about to lose a $500 deal from me. I was about to purchase a GoPro and a Spot for Jim's Birthday. I called the San Jose store and unfortunately got the female employee that had a horrible attitude from the beginning of the conversation. She actually said to me that "I must be making the SPOT up because she has never heard of it and since SHE does the stocking it doesn't exist." Best Buy got my $600 sale that day. Yesterday, hubby tells me that he has to goto Cycle Gear and buy stuffing for his pipe for his WR. Something about being pulled over by a Ranger in Hollister for being too loud LMAO. My 10 minute diatribe about how I will not grace that store with my presence due to the female employee that has been so rude to us before (FYI, that sentence was written SOOOO different but I don't want to break TOS) and why can't he just go spend $1.25 and buy hamster bedding at the pet store lost out when I realized that I was sitting in the Cycle Gear parking lot....dammit! BTW...Jim gets a man points for that one because he let me go on and on and knew I wasn't paying attention to the road or telling him how to drive for once and drove my spouting ass right there. So now it is attitude adjustment time for me. I came in with my mom today to exchange a helmet for a different size. Angelo helped her with her return and was pretty helpful. But Mark was the one who really made our experience great. He saw my mom trying on a helmet backwards, and must've realized that we had no idea what we were doing. LOL. He showed us 2-3 different helmet styles, because my mom was worried about looking like a mushroom. He was patient and very kind, and didn't rush us at all. He even went to check for different sizes, ask what her measurements were to make sure her size was correct, and even joked around but with us a little. If you ride, then this is the candy store for you! I was looking for a new pair of riding boots when i stopped in to see what they had to offer. i ride a cruiser so finding functional equipment is paramount. most places i checked catered to the cafe' crowd. mostly high priced full leather suits and very costly gear. i was not only surprised but elated when i saw all they had to offer! i found a great pair of BILT boots ( their in house brand ) that not only filled the bill, but were only 70 bucks! cheap by any bikers standard. i then purchased a new helmet and gloves and walked out of there fully geared up for under 200 dollars! Friendly staff who know what they are talking about was the icing on the cake. read more

This place is to motorcycles what Frys is to electronics... Good selection, reasonable prices, good sales (yay!) Over aggressive staff with sales pitches in a "costco" atmosphere (booo!) Don't get me wrong, we'll all still shop here. But when you shop at a chain, you get chain-like service. I've been in here dozens of times and there is a huge difference between making yourself available for questions to a customer and FOLLOWING THEM AROUND THE STORE COMMENTING ON EVERYTHING THEY PICK UP!!! My guy decided it was time I get a real motorcycle jacket. This place is close to our house, so we stopped in last weekend. They didn't have a huge variety of women's gear, but there was still a fairly decent selection of jackets. The one area that was really lacking was the gloves. They had very few women's gloves, and not very many in small and/or extra small. So, my search for gloves continues this weekend at another recommended store. But...... I did find a jacket! The deal was so good, even the guy ringing us up had to double check it. Regular price: $200, I got it for ...(imagine a drum roll here) $55!!!!!!!!!! It's basic black, it has armor, and a removable liner, and there's room to add more armor. The man working there was very helpful, and gave advice while only sounding mildly pushy. I would go back, if for no other reason than because you can catch a fan-freaking-tastic deal there. read more

If I could give 5-stars to Sebastian, I would. If you are ever at this Cycle Gear location, find Sebastian, because he is nice, knowledgable, and honest. The 3-stars is for the organization and the Women's Gear selection of the store. The store is definitely in need of some organization. Your time trying to look for apparel or gloves on the racks is tripled because nothing is in order and are sprawled across the racks. Women's gear in general needs a big facelift, so I know it is not exactly the store's fault for carrying not-so-attractive women's gear, but it would help to expand the selection of colors and go beyond pink and purple. With that said, if you are looking for male gear, there is an endless selection to choose from. read more

The stock in the store is pretty good customer service really really sucks after going in looking for helmet for my wife And a leather jacket as being the only customers at that time we had to flag down personal for some help , I needed help choosing some motor oil and after flagging down somebody he kept on his business and said be right back then he came back looked at me and continue on his way I waited one minute after that then left. Bought a helmet here last week. I was helped by this real peppy kid... maybe 16 or 17... who seemed waaaaaaaaay too enthused about working there; you'll know exactly who I'm talking about if you see him. He can talk about helmets like he had memorized, word for word, every brochure and manual for every Shoei product ever created. And he talks real loud like Billy Mays and can pitch every single item in the store. Definitely on top of his game, maybe to get a raise or promotion? So yeah, the sales staff definitely comes off as aggressive; this would definitely be annoying for experienced riders who already know what they're look at, but as a newer rider I actually appreciated it. The store itself is pretty sweet... definitely a lot of stuff both high end and low. I could browse this place for a while. read more

Mixed reviews here. Been here twice. Once to look at shades, once to pick up a jacket.. When I picked up shades, great service. The gal up front was nice and friendly, and very helpful when picking them out. Keep in mind I spent only 70 dollars. Next time I went in, was to look into getting a new riding jacket, with a budget of over 600, and it took forever to get some help when there were 4 people behind the counter just chatting away. I'm all for enjoying your work place, but it was a bid ridiculous. I decided to make that purchase elsewhere. read more

Employees are great, merchandise could be a bit messy. I asked an employee to help me pick out a helmet and how to find the correct size. He took the time to explain to me which parts of the helmet should be snug and which parts should be comfortable. Based off of his advice, I was able to walk out with a new helmet that fit me very well. Service here is great! I came back to look for some riding pants and possibly some new gloves. I had a hard time finding pants that I wanted to try. I found a stray pair of track pants that I liked and wanted one in a larger size. However, I could not find a larger size and an employee told me that they probably didn't have any other around. There are also some inconsistencies with pricing. I found some gear that was had a better price online than in their online store. I told the employee at checkout and he matched the price for me. So when you find some gear here, do make sure to check on your smartphone if it's listed for less on their website. They do offer a one-time 10% (I think) discount on a regularly priced item if you have your card that you get when you complete your MSF training. I did not find it useful, though, as most of the items I wanted to pick up were on sale. read more

Cyclegear is always in my lineup for checking out parts and good deals on gear. As a former employee of this store I could fully gather what it's all about. What separates Cycle Gear from the rest is simply their wide selection and convenience. They have many stores throughout the country and are consistent with their stock, deals, and good track record finding quality products with passionate employees. However, Cycle Gear usually has retail prices on everything else which can add up quickly if your not careful. Additionally, their equipment and gear can range from a lot of cheap and generic brands to high quality American and Italian made designs. Sometimes it's more beneficial to go to a smaller specialty store if you are searching for other unique equipment and gear. read more

When you go in there you are greated by everyone. My only issue is that some of them try to sell you the most expensive crap and tell you its better. Thats not always the case. The trick to getting exactly what fits your needs is to find a sales person who actually rides the terrain that you ride, be it street or dirt, or the kind of bike you ride like, street bike, cruiser or dirt bike. I ride Dirt Bikes and when i go in looking for tires for specific conditions i usually get the same old crap. "Buy this all around tire, its the best one we have" yeah right.. BULL SHIT!!!!!!!!! If your into dirt bikes go in there and ask for Santiago. That man can ride, and he knows his shit too. Believe me when i tell you that if you get anyone else other than Santiago, your going to walk out with some bull shit crap, and an empty wallet. read more

Cycle Gear is a pretty awesome store. All the workers are passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to gear and motorcycles. I came in to look for a helmet and some gloves. I didn't plan on purchasing a helmet of course because I had one on my mind online but I came here to try some helmets on and see the differences between the brands and the sizes. The worker greeted me and assisted me as soon as I stepped into the store and told me what I should be looking for when it comes to purchasing a helmet. They were closing in like 15 minutes but the worker didn't rush me at all, he just kept explaining things to me. They have a good amount of helmets in stock and have some pretty good deals on helmets. I came back a few days later to purchase some gloves for my riding course and as always, a worker greeted me and assisted me with my purchase. Awesome store ! read more

The pretty girl and Mike are my favorite people here. Mike really hooked up my coupon when I bought my battery and some cleaning supplies. The girl I like because I bought a shoei helmet a while back and she was suuuper nice as well. Although, the dude that rang me up should have cleaned my helmet for me, considering the fact it was a display. NASTY NATE IS THE MAN WITH THE PLAN!! kid is a salesman! cycle gear has a great selection of motorcycle gear from a ton of different brands. icon, alpine stars, dainese, or their in house brand.. bilt? they carry everything from gloves and helmets to full body suits and bike locks! i've seen tires, stands, magazines, you name it they're got it! the prices are relatively competitve as those online, i've seen helmets online for anywhere from $30-$60 cheaper but when factoring in shipping and handling its not such a big deal. I was in there for three hours, browsing different brands and sizes in new gear that I was picking up, nate was a solid salesman helping me out along the way with absolutely no pressure at all and he had all the information necessary to make the deal! the shorter lady with the glasses can be a little antsy, i feel like at times she was trying to dissuade me from picking certain brands and sticking to either their in house gear or the top of the line, ridiculously expensive dainese gear! either way, NATE is a solid guy, keep him around and more customers will follow. read more

After not riding or stepping foot in a cycle shop for 5+ years it was a pleasant surprise to find this store. Tried on a ton of jackets and helmets and after over an hour walked out completely satisfied that I had found EXACTLY what I wanted. That just doesn't seem to happen enough. I came here looking for Fox and Alpine Star shirts for my cousins as Christmas gifts. They had such a wide selection! My cousin (that came with me) and I were able to find nice shirts in the right sizes. The price was reasonable. I actually found a Fox shirt on sale for only $9.99. The staff was friendly and very willing to help, even when I came back to exchange a shirt size. The store is pretty spacious and well kept. They have a nice back wall of helmets with some nice designs, too! read more

If you know what you need and are in the market for low to mid price range, Cycle Gear can't be beat. However, if you're an experienced rider, and can actually justify the high quality stuff, this place is somewhat lacking. I don't need some kid telling me about how he's a racer, and I should run the same oil/tires that he does. If you're looking for something specific, run in, grab it and gtfo. If you just want to stare at motorcycle stuff, prepare for a couple eager sales guys to make sure you're finding everything ok (some people like that, it drives me insane). Overall, a very friendly staff, good prices on pretty much everything and they usually stock the rear tires that I like. Only huge drawback they have is that they don't stock any KTM stuff. Horrible customer service. Walked in today to exchange a helmet. Had a guy by the name of Carlos "help" me out. I explained I wanted a specific helmet in a certain size and asked if they had any so he looked at what they had on the showroom floor and simply said no. Didn't go into the back or anything. Lone behold I ask another employee who did go into the back and found the exact one I wanted. Now I'm at the front getting ready to exchange it and get nothing but dirty looks from a female employee with tattoos and the security guard as if I did something wrong by asking for help again. Great staff, nice selection, but beware! They run a pricing scam whereby items marked as on sale will ring up at full price. There's absolutely no excuse for scanned items not to ring up at the sales price. They will be happy to give you the sales price if you happen to catch it (as I did several times). But I imagine they make a tidy sum when folks buy stuff because it's on sale and miss the price switcheroo at checkout. I'll be looking for a more ethical vendor. read more

Dirty, disgusting and no help staff. They have hardly any accessories, boots or helmets for women riders. Their Bilt brand is shite. I've been in cleaner port-o-potties than their bathroom. I called them up to look for a price on a helmet and I was directed towards a woman named Allison. She said she would gladly give me a call back because she needs to check how much the price was since most of their helmets are on the shelf and away from the phone. I was then called back in 5 minutes with a price quote. I didn't know my size so she told me to come in and to ask for her so she can help me fit on a size. As I walked in to the store I was greeted by the workers and I asked for Allison and she gladly showed me to the helmets section. She showed me a vast variety of helmets and proceeded to help me looking for sizes on helmets. She helped me the whole entire time ever since I approached her at first. The quality of service here is great. The store contains tons and tons of equipment from high end products to low end. It was a great experience. I'd shop here again. read more

I got my first helmet, a Bell Revolver for less than half the MSRP price. I later went to check some Dainese jackets. The manager, Jay was able to help find the perfect one for me and my riding style. The price of the jacket was a little higher than what I was thinking of paying for one. Jay told me he didn't want me to walk out the store without the jacket. He was able to give me a $175 discount on the jacket. He didn't have to say anything more, so I purchased a top of the line Dainese jacket at a good price. This place has the most apparel, helmets, accessories, etc, than any other Cycle Gear in the area. I am always buying things here. Carlos is also another one of the savvy and helpful sales person there. I highly recommend this place to all motorcycle riders. read more

Really new to the whole motorcycle thing but I recently got a new ride and wanted to get a helmet. I was referred to this place by my brother because of the sale they have going on. Gave them a quick phone call and they were extremely friendly over the phone, and also mentions about an event that would happen soon. Anyway went into the store and was overwhelmed with the amount of merchandise they had. No one really asked me for help until I walked to the cash wrap but that is alright, I knew what I wanted anyway after a bit of browsing. Great place. Friendly people. read more

Love this store, anytime we're in San Jose I always come in here to look at new gear. Got my Shoei helmet from here & I LOVES it. Staff is very informative, I pretty much knew which helmet I wanted but the dude that helped me gave me a lot of good additional info to help me decide which one fit my head best. They carry a lot of Shoei & Arai helmets, if you're looking for an ICON helmet don't come here they don't have a lot of variety there. As far as jackets, suits, gloves, boots...they got a shit load of all kinds of brands. Not as much dainese riding boots as I'd like though. Always got sales going on & have a huge selection of gear, oils, parts to choose from. Anything not in stock they can order, I've never had to have them order anything though. Just like other Cycle Gears, if you're not happy with the product just return it for a full refund. read more

Had my hesitations about going back to CG as my first and last time was at the CG in Pleasanton...not the friendliest staff there, not to mention, their inventory sucked booty. But that was awhile back and I needed to get a cover for MC on the spot, so I checked out the CG San Jose. Talk about night and day!! Walked in and was immediately greeted, the staff was super friendly and made sure to let them know if I needed help. Found the cover and perused through the store just checking their digs out. They have a pretty good selection of everything, from parts to apparel. I stumbled upon an Alpinestars jacket that EVERYONE seemed to be sold out of but, I found it here and in my size! $520.00 later I get my cover and my jacket...I was one happy motohead! Got home...crapo...the cover didn't fit. What's worse is that I was flipping through the CG catalog and noticed there was a 15% of coupon...oh snap! So, I went back the next day (today) and same thing, was immediately greeted. The dude at the counter, Kyle, helped me with exchanging the cover, which was simple and hella hassle free. I was talking with him and for ish and giggles...I showed him my 15% off coupon and asked him if I could get credit for the jacket I bought yesterday. Not a problem! I had the jacket in my truck just in case. He said I didn't need to bring in the jacket as he could do it off the receipt. It was stellar...$60 credited back to my card...it was awesome, he was awesome! I was in and out of there in 5-minutes...I soo dug that! Thanks Kyle and the rest of the staff at CG!!!!
