I've long appreciated the Cycle Gear store in Santa Rosa. They seemed to have a revolving crew of young sales people ,but they have always been super courteous and very knowledgeable. I've loved being able to order online for store pickup, then being able to return and re-order something on the spot if I didn't get the size right on the first try. On my most recent helmet they actually ordered Shoei and Schuberth helmets, in different sizes for me to try on before ordering the exact size and color Neotec I decided on. I live in rural Mendocino County, with no good local option for buying routine consumables for my bikes, so if I'm passing through I frequently stop and spend some cash on oil, tools or whatever strikes my fancy. I was planning a similar experience when I ordered new tires for my BMW touring bike. I got an email telling me that they had arrived at the store, so a few days later I called to confirm that they were in fact on hand so I could drop the wheels off and have them mounted. Some guy named Brian answered the phone. He couldn't confirm that the tires were in fact on hand; "They're probably back there somewhere", couldn't tell me when I could pick them up, predicated on my dropping them off the next day. Plenty of insolence, zero customer service. That was Monday, May 12th. When I walked in Tuesday around mid-day the guy at the counter told me to take them to Brian in the back. Brian wouldn't look up my order by my name, email or phone number, I had to go back out to my truck, get my phone and sort through my deleted emails to find the order number. The tires were indeed there, the only tires on the rack he was standing in front of. He still couldn't give me a time or day when they would be mounted, he "might" be able to get them in a couple of days or so. I said I would check the next time I was passing through, likely Thursday evening. My work schedule changed and it was late Friday before I got back to Santa Rosa. I walked in and asked the guy behind the counter about my tires. He said I would have to talk to Brian and led me to the back where Brian and another employee were talking to another customer. I immediately saw my wheels there, still with the old tires mounted and asked no one in particular; "You guys don't have those mounted yet?" This was 3 1/2 days after I dropped them off. After total silence for 10-15 seconds, (I would have been happy with almost any affirmative response, something like sorry, we'll have them tomorrow or give us an hour, just about anything would have satisfied me) I said I would take the wheels with me and return the tires right then. No apologies, excuses or comments, we just walked up to the counter where the guy did the return in about 90 seconds. I carried the wheels back out to my truck and got back on the road, promising myself that I will NEVER buy ANYTHING at Cycle Gear again. I'm sure Brian is fine with that. read more

I needed to return a phone mount today due to buying the wrong item from a different location. I was able to return the item and buy the correct one. Freya was kind enough to install it for me which saved me so much time. I also had a senna headset that i also needed installed in my helmet. Abraham installed it for me with no hesitation. So refreshing to shop at a retail store where service is the model. Brian's natural "let me help you" attitude was present from my first phone call. I entered the store and he remembered our interaction and jumped right in to help me put back together my helmet I purchased elsewhere. He then spent focused time evaluating their helmet selection while carefully explaining the nuances between them all. He worked with me to check out a number of accessories providing his knowledge and tips along the way. I left with confidence this is my new shop after the store I have been using for years, Mach 1, closed. Great to see people value the "lifetime customer" over the quick sale. Exchanged for a full leather Alpinestars jacket 3x bigger than my blazer size of 40, got a 46, these run small wow and X large Arai helmet, I was totally off when ordering online. Good to come in and get fitted. Nathan recommended a mirrored Arai V shield for more visibility and even took the time to install it. Danny helped at the end as well and packed up the helmet and made it shine. Attention to detail. My go-to motorcycle shop to mount motorcycle tires. They are pretty quick, about a day, even though the sign says 24-48 hours. They probably got tired of idiots asking for their tires mounted NOW! I prefer using ceramic beads to balance my tires. It's the latest and greatest technology to balance tires. No more ugly wheel weights sticking to my rims! They're an eyesore and pain to clean off. Plus, it's better for the environment as there are no more lost lead weights. But most motorcycle and car tire places refuse to add beads because they make money balancing tires with weights. Well, they could also make money adding beads, but they haven't figured that part out yet! Anyway, you get the beads on Amazon, Counteract, Kit B, Motorcycle. Cycle Pro doesn't add beads either, but they will mount and not balance the tire. Then you add your own beads. You just remove the valve stem. Clear the valve with toothpick. Add beads thru the valve stem using the bottle and tube supplied. Replace the valve stem with the ones from Counteract. Add air, and you are done. Once you have the kit, you can just buy the beads. It's 1 ounce beads in the front and 2 ounces beads in the rear. Using beads, my tires wear evenly, and the ride is smooth, even at high speeds of 100+. Did I say that?!! I need to change my address, it says I live in Fullerton CA, but I'm actually a Sonoma County resident. This is relevant in the sense I left I 5 star review for a Cycle Gear in the SoCal area. I've been in and out of this place for weeks. In for various reasons - I recently sold my Triumph Bonneville and acquired a rare, pristine Honda ST1300 with a bunch of preloaded farkles at the previous owners expense. So my Honda St1300 needed some routine maintenance today, my reason for the current visit. I been staring at those damn helmets for months now, knowing I needed to do something about the 10 year old problem protecting my brain. I made some DOGE ($CUM) money so I had enough walking around pocket change to get the ultimate brain pan. Cycle Gear is great in that they allow you to try the gear. This is a helmet we are talking about here. It's very personal to ultramilers like me. The sales guy was spot on guiding me towards the 600 price range; in contrast to the 10 year old helmet I was using, this felt like I was in another dimension. It even came with a clip on style fog guard which made a huge difference for me. Wind noise is now somewhat acceptable compared to the old HJC. I was perfectly okay paying $600 for a helmet Cycle Gear allowed me to wear - with the added helpful advice to boot. "Should feel like a tight beanie", he said. Spot on brother. Mind you the store also bares a cost to allow you to try on the many helmets available to us customers. So I feel we need to support that by buying helmets from CycleGear. The fit is perfect, wind deflection is unmatched. Also comes blue tooth compatible... but that was on the lower end of my priorities. The big kicker was the drop down shades. That was tech I was more than willing to pay for. It's awesome. No more having to swap shades or carry sun glasses. Just like ICE MAN in Top Gun. I'll continue to buy from Cycle Gear as much as possible (I have a SEIDCI sp? ADV jacket, riding gloves, ADV pants). One thing I did notice, which I hope the store manager will take "under advisement"... I can get Castrol Synthetic 10w40 from the corporate dogs for $9.98; looks like you could free up some shelf space for other stuff - I'm sure they [Castrol] didn't give you the same price they give Oreily's. Again, just my completely unsolicited, proverbial "two cents". Great experience today. I'll be coming in with two wheels needing some new rubber pretty soon. read more

So I live in Antioch but grew up in Santa Rosa. I often come visit friends but I keep going to this cycle gear. Their customer service is always amazing and super helpful. They always do their best to ensure you get everything you need or want plus making sure you understand all of their prices. It's a bit silly for cycle gear in general to have to make gift card every time you pay cash but it doesn't restrict anything or change anything I just always feel bad for the employees jumping through loopholes. Side note: cycle gear doesn't have much for women but I'm definitely considering creating a clothing line for women on bikes. Finding a riding jacket I love is a pain read more

My brother recommended that I shop online for my gear, but after getting burned on expensive return fees for less than optimal fitting gear, I decided to keep it local. I've been to Cycle Gear many times and they have always provided excellent customer service. There are usually only two or three employees working at a time which keeps them pretty busy, so sometimes you may need to flag one of them if you have a question. They have a really nice selection of many different styles to choose from ranging from average to great prices. They seem to always have a sale going on, so I would recommend getting on their mailing list and watch for sales on the items you don't need right away. I held out and finally scored my Sena 10C with a store wide 10% off sale! read more

If every experience in store was like this, I'd rarely ever make purchases online again. He provided a phenomenal experience that blew far and away any previous Cycle Gear visits. I purchased riding gear (boots, jeans, gloves, jacket) five months ago. Very helpful and didn't try and sell me anything i didn't need or up sell. My boots were so comfortable I wore them everyday, even when i didn't ride. After five months the stitching on the side of my boot was coming out. I considered a cobbler to repair but thought I'd call Cycle Gear first. I'm glad i did. They looked up my receipt found that I had a 1 year warranty on my boots! All I had to do was bring them in, sign here, date there, new boots! Love the boots and the service and friendliness of Cycle Gear. read more

Really Bummed and I hate to do this to a business, but when customer service lacks it needs to be noted. I contacted the store over the phone to see if they had a battery in stock for my motorcycle. They are the only ones open on Sunday and I wanted to ride, but battery is dead. I was put on hold for quite some time and the person finally came back and said "the battery is not in stock". I asked if they could get it tomorow, but was told he was "unsure". I asked him how much the battery would be and the response was "I don't know...around $69"...I know for a fact I paid $115 for the last one, so either battery prices have tanked of this answer was more of a guess. I will wait until the local motorcycle shop opens this week and get a qualified answer. You just lost my business... read more

Staff was SUPER helpful! I went in to get some heated gear, and the only pants in my size were on a mannequin, and the sales agent pulled it off without hesitation. Turned out it was the right size. He made sure to include all the cables, instructions, and even included a free remote. I looked at Bluetooth helmets as well, and they didn't fit right. He offered to change out pads to try and make them fit better, but I was out of time. For the record, I usually shop out of the San Jose store since I have more time during the week (I work down there during the week and commute back on the weekends) and BOTH stores have incredible staff!! read more

But I see now that if you ask a question, you're pretty much ass out. I went in today to buy another helmet I asked the guy if they had the anti fog visor, he said he didn't know he was going to ask, next thing I know I see him helping other people! WTF!? I just walked out before I said something ,there was no attempt to answer my question as I was walking out. There is a place in Petaluma which is further, but the service is better!
