I am no longer getting motorcycle gear from this cycle gear or the one in Auburn. I will shop elsewhere. I would suggest you do the same. I do not like rating businesses badly. But most experiences I have had with Cycle Gear have been weird/awkward or just outright bad. I want to make it clear that I actually kind of like most of the employees at this location and the one in Auburn as people. But the fact is that they do not stand behind their product and are not knowledgeable enough to help you when you have an issue with one of their products. When I bought the motorcycle pictured in my Yelp profile picture I was a new, ignorant rider. Thankfully I haven't crashed it yet. My first experience with this Cycle Gear went as follows: I had just bought my bike and got signed up for the Permit level testing. I came in already decided on the helmet I wanted, the Bell Broozer. It looks nice and has the basic DOT cert and is ECE certified, and was cheaper than a lot of others. I was intending to upgrade after I finished my parking lot testing, which I did. When I brought the helmet up to the counter to pay for it, happy, a stupid grin on my face because I was so excited to ace my test, a female worker asked me what seemed like an innocuous question. She said "Oh are you planning to be a daily rider"? I replied yes, my bike is going to be my main form of transport. She then told me straight up that I don't want the helmet because it is going to be loud, and that I'd essentially be stupid if I got this helmet for daily riding. She, without even asking if I'd want a rec, put a like 600 dollar helmet on the counter and said this is what I actually want. I replied that this is only going to be for my testing, and that I'd upgrade in the future, and that I am a grown man, I don't need other people to offer me unsolicited pointers to me on the gear or bike or whatever I decide to buy for myself. She then acted like I was the rude one. I paid for the helmet and walked out. Weirded me out. It was just unprofessional. After I passed my permit level testing I came in to buy some gear. Jackets, boots, riding pants, etc. I already knew what exactly I wanted. One of the male workers literally tailed me the whole time, asking me every five minutes if I'm good and if I need any rec on what to get. I said no every time, that I already knew what I wanted. I ended up spending about 500 bones on gear that day. Here is the huge kicker. For Christmas my girlfriend's mom got me a cycle gear gift card to try to support me on a bike. So cool! I knew I wanted some bar end mirrors so I came in. I was really ignorant about mirror installation and quality so I asked the worker to rec the best pair of bar end mirrors they have. He sold me some Speedmetal bar end mirrors. I paid about 30 or 40 dollars after the gift card was used up. Now on this bike there is a weight on the inside of the handlebars that you need to get out. I came in a few times to ask for pointers or the best way to get the weights out. These times are the only times I had a nice, chill experience in the store. The guys came out a few times, gave me some pointers. My girlfriend and I ended up getting the weights out cleanly thanks to their pointers. These days where they helped me is the only reason this review is a 2 star as opposed to a 1 star. Also when they helped me pick out a quadlock. I pop the mirrors in (no instructions btw), eventually got them torqued up well, and everything. When I'm on the highway I notice that no matter how I install the mirrors, they always fold in and vibrate at highway speeds. I looked up the mirrors on their website to see if anyone else is having issues with this. Here is an example: "These mirrors look great... however, these mirrors require frequent readjustment following... high speed, which requires me to take my eyes off of the road way too often." I'd post more but I don't want to hit the character limit. I went to go return them at the Auburn location since I was in the area already. The manager tries to install them and it seems he gets them on good. He ensures me that I don't need to refund the product. I trust his work and take my bike on the highway home. I should have trusted myself instead. The mirror pops off as I exit the highway, hits the ground and breaks. Oh my God. Now I have to search for it, run into the street and scoop it up. I call the Tac location and say that one of the employees at the Auburn CG installed these mirrors and they popped off on the highway and I need to exchange them. Says bring them in but and I quote "no promises". No promises to exchange out the product on my bike I must have to be legal that an employee installed? Insane. The replacement was incorrectly machined for the ball bearing. Had to get another replacement. Still had the same issues. Today I go over a bump at 5-10mph and the stem breaks. I'm just done. I always have ordered my tiers with them but I'm not going to anymore simply because of how long the turn around is to get it installed. I'll just save my self the time and just order with someone else who can install it in a timely manner. Not a bad place though just wouldn't recommend getting rubber taken care of there. read more

Checked out helmet inventory online only to find out that it's not current. Of course, they didn't have the one I want and that they show in stock. A salesman broke the bad news to me and offered some suggestions about other models. He was quick to pick up that I didn't need help and left me to shop. I found something I liked and made the purchase. Overall, a good transaction and I'm glad they give us more accessory buying options. And open on Sunday. read more

Excellent customer service especially from Kaz who stuck with me as I went through quite a few motorcycle helmets (this was the first time for me buying motorcycle gear) I felt bad because due to COVID he had to sterilize each and every helmet after I tried them on but he did not make me feel uncomfortable about it. He went over the many different types of helmets and the differences between them all. I traveled about an hour to get here and I would definitely be back for more business in the future! My first time being here! Never thought I would be stopping by into this store but yay! I got myself my first motorcycle and of course I need some gear. I grew up passing by the store sign on the Plaza sign and didn't know what it was for! Trip down memory lane we go~! Anyways, I kind of bought bits and pieces of the rest of my gear from different stores but what I really needed was gloves. I have been to about 2-3 different shops and they either don't have the style I like or the size I need. Now the Alpinestars Stella (white) carbon-knuckled gloves were super perfect fit and matches the white theme I am going for but it is so pricy! Oh boy. It was around $80~ after I got it. I mean, you get what you pay for so I am sure it will keep me going in the long run. The employees were friendly and as soon as I walked in, a person greeted me, I went towards the gloves aisle and someone was being assisted but stopped to ask me if I needed help finding anything. Being a size X-Small... Sizes are definitely harder to find. Sighs. The struggle is real. Luckily!! These were the last pair of WHITE X-SMALL's that they had in stock. Lucky me~ read more

I was in the research process for gear and received substantial advice from the peeps there. I wiah I could remember the names. There was a tall guy who helped with jackets, super nice. Then I got help with helmets from two of the counter staff at another visit. I wanted to buy from them, but they did not have my sizes either in store or online. I did end up buying kevlar pants and gloves, which made me feel better about using the knowledge. This was the Tacoma store BTW. Stopped in here to look at helmets. I was looking at a new ICON helmet and they were listed as a dealer, so why not swing by. I quickly found out that they didn't actually have any icon helmets on hand, but that they could order me one if I wanted one. Well, I'd like to try on a helmet before I spend $200 on one. Other than that oddity, I spent about 15 minutes browsing the place. I literally haven't been here in ten years and only remember it having riding gear. So I was kinda stoked to see that they had parts in here. They may have had it back then, I just can't recall. This makes me happy as this stuff is becoming harder and harder to find as shops close up and people continue to shop online. Just stopped in on 2/28/17 to buy some gear after getting a new bike. I was having trouble with buying apparel online so I just jumped in the car and drove the hour each way to have the benefits of a brick and mortar store. It was definitely worth it and I'll go back next time I need something. I purchased a helmet and a jacket. My dad found a helmet that he liked but wanted a different color. Josh had it ordered with free shipping to our house in no time. Great service, chatted with other customers in the store as well and they were nice people which made for an enjoyable shopping experience and climate. This place has a lot of gear mostly for the metric bike rider. A few maintenance items and tires are available as well. However due to their poor customer service I will not be going back. My wife bought me a jacket for my birthday that I didn't like. So, I took it back to get a refund. I was told they didn't have enough cash in the register to refund my $150. I said patiently, OK I'll be back tomorrow morning when you open. I showed up an hour after opening and was told the same thing, we don't have enough money to refund your item. Just visited this store today, on 9/10/19. Went in and asked the blonde female for assistance. She made it seem like it was a big deal to be helping me and would talk to other customers around the store while I was right in front of her. Made many comments about how she didn't want to be at work or would rather be outside. Couldn't keep a conversation with her so I just left. Did not make an effort to see if the helmet I tried on was a good fit or comfortable, rather just told me that they only had two helmets like that and if I didn't like the one I tried on, I wouldn't like the other one either. No advice at all on any of the helmets, only told me there was one other one , but it was $399. Would not have been a big deal if she had just helped me out, but I guess I'll find somewhere with better service. Very disappointed considering I saw the shop had good ratings. read more

I spent over 700.00 on helmets and when I took the helmet back for adjustments I was treated by one of the clerks as if I didn't know what I was talking about. I've been looking for a helmet and other motorcycle gear for a while so I can take my endorsement test. I decided to go to Cycle Gear since they were advertising a big sale for the 4th of July. I walked in and was helped immediately. The staff was very friendly and helped me pick out a helmet, gloves, and a jacket that will meet my needs as a new motorcycle/scooter rider. The store is jam packet with tons of gear, it looks like the major brand they carry is Bilt. There were more expierienced riders in the store and they seemed to have an ongoing relationship with the staff, which for me is a good sign of high quality customer service as well as repeat business. read more

Instead of confronting me about it (I didn't know until they berated me with a customer) they talked among themselves. First time there was a good experience, not so much the second time around, bought front & rear tires and had to wait 3 days to get them mounted ( yes it was summer & they were busy) was quoted $57+ change for mounting ect. got there to pick them up & now the price is $65+ change, after a long tense debate over the price difference the manager was called out and he settled it for $55.00, then the power went out ( no back up generator for computers just lighting) now she can't do anything to continue the transaction so 30 minutes later power back on and as she try's getting this deal over and done other customers are coming in and instead of listening to the customer she is supposed to be helping she is greeting everyone coming in and yacking to them, customer service was lacking to say the least, great deal on tires but that's about it. read more

I've shopped Cycle Gear many times because they carry all the good brands at a gauranteed low price. Plus they stand behind the products they sell. If you're looking for something specific or have an issue with ANYTHING you've bought there, just ask for John or J, both are great guys (as is all their staff). WORST RETAIL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I placed an order through Cycle Gear on 12/7 for a Christmas gift for my husband. I called to check on the shipment on 12/17 and they had not even received the merchandise from the vendor to ship yet! They told me I would not have the order by Christmas. Not only did they not ship in a timely manner, but they were SO rude to me. They acted like I was crazy for placing on order on 12/7 and expecting to receive it before Christmas. They also refused to transfer me to a manager. They said, "I don't know where my manager is. He must have stepped outside for a break, so I am the only one here for you to talk to." I told them I would hold for a manager and was told NO. They never apologized or offered to make the situation right. They treated me like I was out of luck and it was just too bad. So, thank you Cycle Gear for ruining my Christmas gift to my husband. If you want something to be shipped to you correctly and in a timely manner, turns out you will have to order through Amazon, and NOT CYCLE CLEAR.
