I recently got an older, second- hand bike from a thrift store in good condition, but wanted the brake cords replaced as the back wheel wouldn't move too much. I also ordered a full check to be done on the whole bike to make sure that nothing else was amiss. After the brake cords were replaced I brought it home, but ended up riding it back to the shop the next day because my kickstand was not working and I wanted it replaced. I just don't understand why that wasn't looked at during the full check up in the first place? The reason I'm giving the shop 4 stars is because Stephen was the one that helped me with my kickstand and he was extremely nice. I just walked in with my bike, told him what happened, and he fixed it within 10 minutes. I don't know about the others that work there, but I recommend Stephen for all your bike needs. read more

Terrible service messed up entire bike, unreadable at this point, destroyed my passion to ever ride my bile ever again. They did more things to the bike then I previously asked them to do then charged me a additional 45 dollars for the things they did to the bike that I didn't wish for them to do. read more

This bike shop looks as typical good business until you make a purchase. Then the reality comes our from the owner lacking good business practices. My family visited this business for some chain supply material to repair a chain. When we went to the register the owner rang up the items higher than they were marked by 15%. I questioned his accuracy on the marked prices. He then made an excuse that he hadn't had time to update the sticker prices marked on the items. My response was soft and respectful but it fell on deaf ears. This owner is not a professional. Any businessman knows the California law that if an item is clearly marked with no other disclosures then the business is required to honor that price. It isn't a financial issue to me, it's an integrity issue. I am retired and was in retail counter sales owning my business for thirty five years and I'm knowledgeable about fraud. This is a clear and obvious example of fraud. The business should have honored the prices and informed me he would try to immediately correct all his inventory. I think this man got a little lazy during these crazy times of supply and demand and figured know one would care. Oops, not me if I had to carry myself as a responsible and courteous businessman following the law for thirty five years, surely he can manage a ripple of interruption during Covid times. The business world is tough enough competing fairly and respectfully to all customers and competitors without slipping this event under the table. I will follow up and see if this business corrects this foundational skill in his business and report back to this yelp thread and hope that other customers can see he's responsible of if he's playing the game of shoddiness over and over again. I was quite disappointed in this bike shop. I took my bike in to switch a pair of road pedals and although the mechanic was friendly and quick, I was very disappointed in the variety and choices in the their merchandise. They seemed to only carry 1 or 2 variations and sizes in their products (helmets, cleats, wheels..etc), and they were all priced relatively high for there quality. Their shop was also predominantly centered around mountain bikes and cruisers, which was further disappointing. If your a road cyclists like myself, I wouldn't recommend this place. Your better off going to WOW in Modesto for your services and products. Lastly, I love the idea of having local bike shop here in Turlock, but this shop needs a lot work before I would recommend it and or provide my business to them again. read more

Honestly, don't waste your time going here. Zachary Bell and the new owner do not care about your bike. I had them build a brand new $800 bike and they just put the most careless effort. My chain slack was loose and my front fork had a scratch on it. He didn't even ask if I wanted my seat adjusted!? The tech, Zachary, didn't say much other than "Credit or Debit". Yo, it's a brand new bike. Also, upon pickup, they didnt even go over the bike with me nor did they want to. The owner just said, "take a spin and see what you want adjusted", as he sat there on the computer. This was after picking apart the bike before I left. Maybe he got a little scared that I'd notice the scratch? I'm pretty sure when anyone picks up something, new/used with work done from a shop, they'd appreciate work being reviewed. At this point, the old owners were 100x better than these guys. read more

We've gone to Cycle Masters for years for all of our biking needs. But since the shop has changed ownership we have not been so happy. Current management is rude, condescending, and completely unorganized. Also, I highly suspect it was someone at this shop who recently stole my debit card information and made fraudulent charges on my account. read more

It's a great shop the people provide good customer service has great bike brands but man I'm not sure what happened with my bike. A few months ago I took them a pair of rims to build he did a great job untill it came down to put my chain on. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure an apprentice did it. I took in a shadow half link chain and they could not get it on they told me that my hearing did not allow me to run the chain so he traded my $40 chain for a cheaper version that fit. My chain was way to tight the tension on it was insane it didn't even want to pedal back and free coast cause of how tight it was I went back and told him the problem and he told me (don't worry it will loosen up over time) well a few days ago I noticed my hub making wierd noises so I took my bike to a different shop And they took apart my hub the chain was pulling my hub so tight toward that my bearings inside grindid against each other and it completely tore up my $600 rear hub not sure if he was being lazy or had to much work but whatever it was it cost me $350 in repair parts!!! Really disappointed because I really enjoyed taking to the people that work at this spot unfortunately I won't be going back!!! read more

Let me tell you a story about luis m's first bike. It was a cheap piece of crap, and it wasn't bought at Cycle Masters. I was six years old and my best friend 3 lyfe, Dennis had gotten a sweet bike to ride around on. So of couse I had to have one. Well, if you lived in Turlock and you wanted a bike you came to Cycle Masters. They were the start and finish when it came to bikes and anything bike related in Turlock (and probably still are)...unless you were my dad. Oh we went to Cycle Masters. We browsed around, saw all the different bicycles they had there, had an extremely helpful person explain everything we needed to know and made the best recommendations possible. Then my dad saw the price tags. Not that they charge more than the bikes they have are worth. They have good stuff here and you have to pay for good stuff. So with that we were off to K Mart and I got a cheap Mongoose knock off called The Road King. It was orange and black and you had to slam the pedals backwards to stop because it had no hand brake action. At least it didn't have a banana seat. I bought all my tire patches at Cycle Masters though. read more

I was VERY IMPRESSED by how much attention my questions were receiving and by how THOROUGH they were answered. This shop is the place to go if you want to learn a little more, shop around a little more, and spend a little more. However, it must be noted that when you buy a bike here, it might be pricier than a Target or Walmart bike, but CycleMasters will give you free tire changes and maintenance for quite awhile. I've been into cycle masters a few times before looking once for a mountain bike and came back again to look for components for the bike I bought in Merced and get my pedals replaced. I can't vouch for the road cycling gear but they have a great selection of components and gear for mountain bikes. Their prices are a bit higher than you will find online but they do have an awesome selection. They had all 4 mountain bike tires that I had been looking at online and plenty of other very popular parts, protective gear, clothing etc. The guys that work here are also very friendly and nice to chat with. The guy that helped me even recommended a local riders website to check out and even go on some trail riding with them. I would highly recommend this shop for any repairs or purchases I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the prices. read more

The prices on their bikes are pretty steep though. I went in today to get my bike tire fixed. It had a flat and I need it to get to school tomorrow! I came into Cycle Masters and they greeted me immediately with friendly smiles. They asked what the problem was and when I said my tire is flat he said he could change it out for me. He the guys in there were friendly and all made conversation with me. The guy who was fixing my bikes asked what type of tube I wanted and when I asked the difference he explained the difference to me quote well and told me the price difference which helped make my decision. While starting to fix the bike he explained there was something else wrong with the bike and there was a belt that was loose and needed to be replaced. He again told me the price and asked if that was alright with me. It took less than 10 minutes and he did a great job. He even asked if I needed help getting my bike into my car. I very much recommend this place. I will go here for all my bike needs from now on. read more

Very impressed with the new owners and the shop. These fellows know bikes and the customer needs. They just don't sell you a bike, but you'll learn somethings there to help maintain it as well. If you need parts and support they are there for you too. I have a Golden Eagle motorized bicycle that I ride back and forth to Modesto from Turlock. I save a lot of gas as I get about 85 plus miles a gallon, I cruise about 30mph, yes 30 mph on a Giant Sedona bicycle! Cycle Masters help maintain this bike for me. Unusual requests, unusual machines, and anything of a "cycle"resemblance - go see them. Best bicycle shop in town imho. read more

Very disappointed in their customer service after having lived in Portland, OR, a place where the shops are actually interested in having satisfied repeat customers. The tools at "Cycle Masters" upsold me on some pricier "thorn resistant" inner tubes, but when i promptly got a puncture flat (not shocking) i found that these crappy things wouldn't bond with glue-on patches. Having repaired hundreds of punctures before, i've never seen anything like this happen ever. I thought surely these guys would let me exchange them for the cheaper traditional tubes. But when i called they said no! When i told them that they'd lost my business forever, they were fine with it. So now i'm here telling you that these guys do not care about your repeat business. They will upsell you on crappy inferior products you don't need. If you need a bicycle shop don't stop in Turlock. read more

Cycle Masters was absolutely AWESOME... I was looking for a beach cruiser for my daughters graduation gift but also needed to make payments. The guys working there were so nice when my daughter found the one she loved. It just so happened she broke her leg two weeks later and when I went in to make a payment the guy said take as long as you need to pay it off it's obvious she won't be riding for a while! My husband recently took my sons Redline in to be re-built we wanted new brakes, tires, tubes, seat, bearings greased and new chain. The kid that helped my husband when he dropped off the bike was very helpful and knowledgeable he even reminded my husband of things we had not thought of. He gave a quote of more or less 160. Well my husband and very excited son the bike didn't look any different really except one new tire, 2 new tubes and a brake nothing else was done. The gentlemen who brought out the bike said the other stuff wasn't needed and then said the seat would be an extra 80.00 we were charged 130.00 because the labor is 56 an hour seriously? First of all we didn't ask them to look at the bike and decide what it needed we ask for a list of things to be changed this is our sons transportation to and from school. And instead doing all the work we asked for in the 1hour we paid for they did a half ass job! Left a rusty chain on the bike, did not grease anything put the wrong brake on his type of bike and charged us 130.00 ( I guess to change two tubes and a tire.) Not cool at all! I will definitely not come back here. As a business owner myself customer satisfaction is the number one thing that matters and second is quality service and we did not receive either. And will for now on take our business somewhere else. read more
