Its vibe intrigued me, and I think Cajun food is top five like Tatum with a cut. I decided to prepare only slightly this time. While getting dinner with a friend, we were discussing places when I suggested Lil' Easy. I threw a reservation down for an hour later at one of their numerous dining options. Upon arrival, parking at that little strip of restaurants on East Cesar Chavez is a bit treacherous. If you're not afraid of getting your steps in at 6 pm on a Friday, don't sweat it. Anyone else, good luck. There are a lot of different seating arrangements at Lil' Easy: the true outdoor patio with fans and umbrellas, the climate-controlled outdoor space that still brings the sun while still pumping A/C, and the traditional indoor space. Plenty of seating. The entire place was decorated with Mardi Gras beads and colors. Off the rip, we had to set the tone: I ordered a Pimm's Cup while my friend got some secret frozen swirl. We had to throw down an order of the Crawfish Queso as well. The food and drinks were served so quickly, we questioned if it was ours. The queso was De Nada's signature queso with Crawfish Étouffée mixed in. There are no tortilla chips on the side, but instead toasted bread. It's kinda like a DIY Crostini. The crawfish's flavor is a unique and savory balance to the cheesiness of the queso. Very delightful. We crushed it. My friend wanted to go wild. Another appetizer?? Their Shrimp Cocktail was thrown down immediately after ordering. The shrimp was great, but those house pickles were sneakily one of the best things they served us. Living the high life. Speaking of that, I ordered a High Life Pony as we made our main orders: a Fried Catfish Po'Boy and Fried Oyster Po'Boy. Both cut down the middle so we could have a little this, a little that. I think the bread, the catfish and the oysters, and the fries served alongside it were all incredible. My only issue was that the catfish po'boy had horseradish in it. That is a me issue, and I don't know why I can't stand horseradish. I don't know if it was hiding in their coleslaw or their rémoulade, but something was horseradish-y! I'd get the oyster po'boy again and again though! We closed the night with me being fun as I ordered their Frozen Espresso Martini with sprinkles and whipped cream because some other lady sitting nearby had that, and I WANTED TO BE FUN TOO. My friend got herself the seasonal nonalcoholic Arnold Palmer that was spiked with some Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka. Hers was great, but mine was basically a milkshake. I looked like a joyous kid with my drink. I was so very happy. They do give you lids for your drinks if you want to take them with you, but I planned to finish mine then and there. The gimme cups are also a nice touch and have their cute alligator mascot on them. Throughout the night, we could not believe how fast the service was at getting our meals and our drinks to us. Our waitress was absolutely on point the entire time we were there, constantly checking in on us and being extremely friendly and helpful in making sure we chose the right things and had a good meal ahead of us. I keep going back to this place and I'm always glad that I do. The Cypress is always rockin' and I just like the vibe. The people who work there are always engaged and the food is damn tasty. Me and the lady went Saturday for a late dinner and sat at the bar. Did I mention the cocktails? They make an awesome Sazerac but my favorite is the whisky smash (like fresh mint and lemon with lots of bourbon). The lady had some white wine along with her grilled Salmon with grilled Brussels sprouts as a fresh veggie. The fresh salmon they serve is amazing and you can get it nice and medium rare, and oh man, never thought I would rave about Brussels sprouts, but they were killer! I had my go-to brined Pork Chop with balsamic glaze, cooked perfectly with garlic mash and this Cajun corn maque chou, which I get every time - like creamy, spicy, bacon-y corn. fan-freakin-tastic - there was just a cleaned pork bone left on my plate! Close with the Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce (there's booze in that!) - there can be no other dessert. I didn't catch their name but it was a mix of bluegrass/folk and that lady who was singing...PUT IT DOWN! Music was outstanding. The food....Blah. I got the sampler thinking it would be fresh and homemade. I've had crab cakes so many times and I think this was the worst. Everything on the plate was fried and look to be from a Cisco catalog. Can we both be very happy and we can spend a lot of time together remembering our mother. To complete my memory, I had CG's bread pudding with whiskey sauce for dessert. Had a wonderful date night at Cypress Grill! Despite a brief 14-minute wait, the service was outstanding. My boyfriend, a Baton Rouge native, is quite discerning with his Cajun cuisine, but Cypress did not disappoint. The Boudin balls were a hit, especially with the horseradish sauce. The chicken and sausage gumbo was decent, though it had a hint of being slightly burnt. I enjoyed the catfish platter and he loved the shrimp--both were tasty even though the catfish had a bit too much cornmeal for my liking. I had the Chicken Fried Steak. It was excellent. It is hard to find a restaurant now that knows what Chicken Fried Steak really is. The one I had at Cypress Grill was huge and done to perfection. The cream gravy was perfect and served in just the correct portion. The garlic mashed potatoes were the perfect side. Our server - sorry, I missed making note of her name - was attentive and prompt without hovering. And oh yes, the Blackberry Cobbler was just the correct tartness and set off by the excellent ice cream. I will definitely be a regular customer. Food and our waiter were excellent! But I put my name on the waitlist app and when I arrived the hostess couldn't find it and was not helpful in looking past the 6:30 time for our name. I couldn't find an email confirmation or anything, very frustrating. So we opted to sit outside as a table was available. I noticed the table, not the hostess. After we were sat I received my text at 6:45 which the hostess had to send from the waitlist. I believe the hostess needs more training on how to treat customers. read more

Great place to go if you're looking for Louisiana-style Cajun food. While my favorite entree is the Crawfish Etouffee, there's something on the menu to please almost every palate. I highly recommend the Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum sauce to top off your meal. The atmosphere and service are great. The live music keeps the place hopping. First off I did speak with the manager when I noticed the sign. He told me "you don't know what you're talking about" and "if you don't like it talk to TABC". So maybe you should educate your staff. Second the sign was ILLEGALLY posted. To say it was a "misunderstanding" is no excuse. You can easily verify your sign status on the TABC website. Third to say I'm "bullying" you by posting on a public forum is baby talk. So glad to see you were forced to remove the sign and follow the law. read more

Not too many dine in places available and this place had the check in option on yelp. Was kinda skeptical about trying Cajun for brunch but what's the worse that can happen. Well let me tell you, it was so freaking amazing. My wife had gotten the loaded biscuit and eggs for brunch and that breakfast plate was incredible. And I wonder if that is why it's so popular. However, the reason I have given this three stars is the service. I came in today on my lunch break and was greeted by friendly staff members. I asked if I had enough time to eat for a lunch break and Emily sat me right away! Came here with my two children, really craving crawfish. They were late boiling them (supposed to start at 4:30) and my small baby started screaming her head off after waiting a bit. I asked if I could simply take crawfish to go and pay so we could leave and she wouldn't be sitting there screaming. You could easily taste the clams at a really nice consistency not too thin, not too thick and I didn't even have to add any salt to it. It was just really tasty. When the clam trotter was delivered, I happened to look at what other plates were on the serving tray ready to go out in one of them happen to be this phenomenal salmon dish. I asked the gentleman what it was and he said it was his favorite dish on the menu, so of course had to try it the salmon dish absolutely out of this world the glaze on it side. It came with it. Everything just fit really well together and y'all that plate was clean by the time it went back. This place is definitely on my shortlist as I really would like to try some of their other plates again that salmon and the clam chowder really made an impression and highly rate this place if you're looking for a good seafood place in Austin. The vibe of the restaurant was laid-back, but also very open, clean setting clean lines plenty of light and they even had really clean restrooms. The staff also was very pleasant and friendly with every one I interacted with.

There is a QR code that you're required to use to join the waitlist/queue, but this is not clearly communicated on their website. For a restaurant that is known for having long waits and high traffic, I feel like this information should be clearly stated online so people can plan accordingly. Once I joined the queue, I was number 43 and ended up waiting about an hour and a half before being seated. I understand that popular restaurants can have long wait times, but the lack of transparency about how the process works made the experience more frustrating than it needed to be. Once inside, the ambiance was actually quite quaint and charming. That said, considering how much traffic this restaurant gets, I was surprised by how limited the space is. I honestly think expanding the property would make a huge difference, although I understand that may not be entirely within their control. One thing I will give them major credit for is the menu. Online, the selection makes it look somewhat limited, but once you're there, they actually have 50+ food options, so there is plenty to choose from. That was definitely a pleasant surprise.
