Had gone to check out Interstellar bbq on Friday at about 130 but they had run of just about everything. Fortunately for us, we looked across the street and saw this spot which turned out to be a gem. It's a cajun meat market that doubles as a cajun kitchen. They offer simple, no frills dishes that are pretty tasty and true to Louisiana cuisine. There's limited seating and while there's a steady number of folks coming in, didnt see anyone not grt a table so the flow is pretty steady for geoups of 4 or less. If you're bringing a group larger than 4, you may have a hard time seating everyones. We had the shrimp po boy and the roast beef boy. The french bread on both was amazing: warm and soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Both were loaded pretty generously and came with lettuce, tomato pickles and mayo. The side we chose were fries which were pretty spectacular: thinly cut and well seasoned. The only sad part is that it's way north for us. We'd probably be there more often if ot were closer. read more

Love this place! We get a Turduckin every year for thanksgiving. I learned about these morsels of goodness watching Monday night football with Madden. They are the best, not dry, always moist. I get mine with crawfish stuffing and usually some more stuffing on the side. It is so good, the stuffing is made of rice with crawfish, the best. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Austin. I'm from Florida and love fried gator. Hard to find anywhere else but they have it here! I get the combo with fried gator, crawfish and oyster. Spent several years during Covid is southern Louisiana and have to say it was the worst jambalaya I've ever eaten.... Texture of mash potatoes. My partner has a shrimp po boy. Shrimp was done excellent but she ordered it with no dressings of any kind. They did put lettuce on it but loaded with mayonnaise dressing. Very disappointing. Had previously order a King Cake as was Fat Tuesday and cake was huge and cake was traditional cinnamon was good but maybe I did not read it well as was slathered with cream cheese when I thought it was traditional with no stuffing and regular icing. ($49.00) total bill was $68.00 with a tip and did not hear a thank you. Ended up buying a traditional king cake two days later from Randell's. Have been ordering live crawfish from here for years and years. On the day of my daughter's high school graduation I ordered 35 lbs of live crawfish.Picked them up and noticed a bad smell and thought maybe it was one or two..... NO!!!! Almost all 35 lbs was dead and rotting. This was not normal dead loss in a sack. These were grey/white and mush with the worst smell. A lot had holes on the shells of the body. Eyes were cloudy. I called back and was given the run around and then told he would process refund. I asked for him to call the owner and see what could be done. The jerk on the phone told me he already did. His response was "someone will reach out to you if they feel it's necessary." What? If it's necessary? What kind of nonsense is this? The guy was laughing and kept cutting me off saying "is there anything else I can do for you today? The owner would not reach out. Their solution was "buy some more tomorrow" I asked if they had boiled crawfish and his response "I just dropped my last 40lb sack." So call it crazy but I thought perfect I'll pick up the boiled crawfish since apparently they kept the live sack for themselves and gave me the dead sack. Again the rudest little guy said "it's already promised to other people. " so an hour before you close, you drop a 40lb sack of crawfish? This was the rudest guy I've ever dealt with in the years I've been a customer. This is the worst experience ever and now I'm the one that has to look my daughter in the face and say "there's nothing they can do" read more

I decided to grab a pint of chicken and sausage gumbo to-go, I had I bite in my car before driving off, had to re-park my car go in an buy a quart because it was soo good...(full of thick pieces of super tender chicken and sausage and some peppers in a really rich thin broth). I can't wait to cook up some of the boudin and sausages. I think $4.99 a pound is a good price, I'll never buy another sausage from the grocery store. They have all kinds of meats. I even picked up a beautiful looking pork tenderloin and waiting on that to defrost now, it looks amazing. I'll be pickin up some bacon wrapped quail next time and some other stuff for certain. I am from New Orleans so my threshold is high. No offense to any Texan reviews but us Louisianans know real deal good seafood from the fake. And Stuffed passed the test. Now for clarity sake, all I have had so far is the po boy, fries, and their crawfish mac and cheese (which I believe is a seasonal dish). And all were delicious. Now was it the best po boy and fries meal I ever had? No. But it was still very delicious. The crawfish mac and cheese was especially good. I also loved that they have authentic Louisiana products all throughout the shop. This is a nice little place that I will frequent more to try other things from them like their crawfish. Bonus is it's pretty decent prices compared to the prices other Louisiana seafood places charge in Austin/Cedar Park. Giving this place a 5 due to the full experience (food, great customer service, atmosphere) and I hope they don't let me down with their other dishes. I will say it took about 10-15 mins for them to have the food ready which isn't the longest wait but also don't expect "fast food" timing. Very unassuming place, but it's definitely popping inside. This feels more like a down home cajun kinda place where everything is familiar but definitely something I feel tastes more homestyle. Tried a bunch of stuff - blackened catfish is two heaping fillets with a good sear and that familiar flavor profile. Fried okra is well salted and crisp. Dunk that into the remoulade. Roll is just fine, but it's extra pillowy soft. My wife got the smothered redfish and smothered indeed it is. Good amount of rice that is coated in a paler colored etoufee than I would have expected but tastes great. It is definitely on the heavier side. Jalepeno cornbread actually has some kick, which surprised me but much appreciated to cut through the grease. Gumbo is a bit soupy and thin and not your usual andouille (tasso instead?). This is a review for specifically live crawfish. Reserving was a breeze online and they were responsive and quick when we needed to edit our order to 75 lbs. When we picked them up, they were HUGE. Definitely great for our boil this weekend. Rinsing took less cycles than other crawfish spots! I would come again if I were to host another large crawfish boil. Picked up the 5lb crawfish feast tonight for the wife and my dinner. Comes with corn, potatoes, sausage and mushrooms. The crawfish were boiled perfectly and just the right amount of seasoning. This was the best crawfish I have had in Austin. We have tried several other boiled crawfish places locally and while some are okay they aren't Louisiana style crawfish. I'm sad to say some were really bad and all are expensive to someone used to living in Louisiana. You will enjoy these.
