They literally through some over cooked meat they made early that day that wasn't eaten on some cold baked potato that was also probably made earlier that day. I'm excited this place is here and hope it does well. Great atmosphere, and love the outdoor seating so the kids can run around under the huge shady trees. Have been twice now, and they are working out some of the kinks from when they first opened (service was a lot faster the second time, food was hot instead of lukewarm the second time). Only gripes the second time were that my burger was over cooked, and the 1/2 pound of brisket I brought home for my husband was skimpy and a few ounces short of actually being half a pound -- needed another slice to actually be the amount we paid for. We have been here multiple times and really like the food! However this review is about the service. During our last visit we were 1 of 3 tables in the larger indoor dining area. That's all! We were asked to seat ourselves. They were at 75% about capacity outside. Multiple servers were continuously passing by us to get to the outside tables. This place is awesome. From the vibe to the food...this place is everything! My father and I came here on a Saturday night. A live band was playing outside, but we decided to sit inside since it was so hot out. We were greeted and seated right away AND a server promptly came over to our table. My father ordered the ribs and I ordered the brisket. My father LOVED the ribs clearly because only bones were left behind. They fell off the bone and looked super delicious. My brisket was so moist and the crust on the outside was SO good! I really wanted to give this spot 5 stars because it is a pretty incredible spot with amazing food, BUT I was disappointed in the BBQ sauce. For a BBQ joint you should have sauce options. Many people like different tastes when it comes to BBQ. Some like heat and some like sweet, etc. Unfortunately here you only have one option and it is a bit spicy. My father cannot tolerate spicy food so he couldn't enjoy it so I was bummed about that. I will be back regardless though!!! read more

We got seated and waited and waited (and waited) for someone to come take our initial drink order. Nothing! They had plenty of hosts/hostesses but tonight not enough wait staff. A gentleman presumed to be Mgr or Asst Mgr sat a couple, then when he saw they weren't getting drinks orders taken quickly, he came to do it. But we were there first!! Quickly, our waiter greeted us and asked for our drink orders. He explained that he was new and not very familiar with the ciders that were available. He went and got a list from the bartender. My husband ordered the turkey avocado bacon sandwich and I ordered the the 2 meat BBQ plate. His sandwich and fries were delicious. The only thing hot on my plate were the green beans......Mac & Cheese and both meats were cold. At this point, our waiter was MIA. He now had an indoor table as well. The rookie ( first night on the job) should not have tables inside and outside. Once he finally came back to the table, I told him my food was cold. He looked at me like what should I do about it. We simply asked for a to go box. By now there is a bee in my husband's water and we are ready to go. Had to request a box 3 more times and he still never brought it. Overpriced and average BBQ place. I have eaten at many BBQ places to distinguish flavor differences. The queso is really good with just the right blend of spicy and cheesy but queso should not represent the quality of a BBQ joint. I recently had a to go order of 1/2 lb brisket, ribs, sandwich and sides and before I left I asked if there was enough BBQ sauce for all the meat in the order and she had confirmed it. When I got home I was bitterly surprised to find out these was not a drop of BBQ sauce on the side for all the meat I just picked up. I don't live close enough to go back and pick up some sauce. We sat by the window with a nice view but it ended up being a view of 10 flies... that we got rid of ourselves. We heard the place had been reopened as a BBQ restaurant and decided to check it out. We sort of came in thinking that this was across the parking lot from Spring Creek BBQ (SCBBQ) and wanted to know how it would compete. I didn't go looking for a bar, but they seemed to have a well-stocked one with more than 20 beers on tap. (The one I had was very good.) What I did go looking for was a plate similar to what I would have at SCBBQ which is a two-meat plate with a couple of sides, pickles and so forth. We both had brisket and sausage. My wife doesn't do spicy and asked if the sausage was. The waitress said no. That was a lie; it was very spicy, even for me. When the manager walked around asking how things were going, we mentioned that. He made a face and confirmed that, yes, the sausage is spicy. Also, the sausage seemed to be grilled more than smoked. The outside casing was hard and crusty. It wasn't to my liking for texture. I usually get lean cuts of brisket; this was decidedly not lean. My wife liked it fatty, so she liked it more than me. In the end, the meat was pretty mediocre which is pretty disappointing for a BBQ store; meat is featured. The plate includes two sides; we had green beans and potato salad. The green beans were all but mush. She is more tolerant of such things, but even she wouldn't eat them. Potato salad was very good. For me, it was probably the best thing on the plate. The plate also came with some onions and pickles but no bread. Because of the spiciness of the sausage, she asked for bread which turned out to be a slice of white bread. Turns out bread is available on request but not served otherwise. At SCBBQ, yeast rolls are part of the reason you go. This doesn't compare at all. We were both somewhat put off by the fact that all of this was served on styrofoam plates and bowls with plastic cutlery. When we asked the manager about this, he said the styrofoam and plastic were here to stay. Dishwashers don't get dishes clean, so he didn't believe in them. Right...well...uh huh. Too bad all these other area restaurants haven't got the message yet. They have a stage and a fair amount of seating outside. Some of the seating is covered and some is not. Could be pretty cool when a band is playing. But it could be pretty uncomfortable in the hot months (of which there are a lot). Finally, the price did not win me over for value. We paid pretty much here for that two-meat plate as what we do at SCBBQ. Because there was no band playing to up the value proposition and I didn't need the bar, paying the same price for less quality and quantity and be forced to eat on picnic ware did not impress me at all. The next time I go looking for a two-meat BBQ plate, I'll be going to SCBBQ. If you are not put off by the things we perceived as negatives, you can raise the rating a bit. However, here is what really clinched the deal for me. As I mentioned, the manager (or owner or someone) came around asking if everything was ok. I was glad for that since the store was only four days old at the time. We mentioned a few things to him (plasticware, overcooked beans, spicy sausage), and ti was like we had thrown water on his birthday cake. Rather than offer us something else, he told us that these things worked for him downtown and they would work here. He convinced me that he wasn't really interested in our feedback. He just wanted to hear how cool his place was. Everyone else we dealt with were friendly, accommodating and reasonably well trained for a brand new place. It was just him that put me off. My objections might have been overcome had he been more willing to hear us rather than respond defensively. For me, I'm not likely to go back. read more

My wife and I were really looking forward to trying this new BBQ place. The weather was nice, so we grabbed some outdoor seating. The server came by in a reasonable amount of time and took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. Prices seemed average for BBQ and we were ready to order, but our server was nowhere to be seen. After about 15 minutes, she shows up with our drinks and tells us that the reason it took her so long was that she was in the restroom. REALLY? I don't want to hear about that just as I'm getting ready to order. We went ahead and each placed an order for a 2 meat plate (sliced bread is available, but you have to request it). Our server takes off to put in our order. She disappears and we never see her again. I don't know if she was taking care of tables inside or if she was back in the restroom. While we were waiting, we did notice that the food is served on styrofoam plates with some of the sides in paper food boats. You also get plastic utensils to eat with. I guess that there's nothing wrong with that, but I do prefer real plates and silverware for cutting and eating BBQ. It seems that prices should have been a little cheaper if I'm not getting real plates or silverware. I can't say how the BBQ is at Cypress Trail Hideout because it just never came. After waiting 30 minutes with no sign of our server and no food or even drink refills, we decide we've had enough and decided to just go across the parking lot to Spring Creek BBQ (which was good, had better prices, provided real plates and silverware, kept fresh piping-hot baked rolls flowing and we were eating in less than 5 minutes of entering the building). All-in-all I would say that our visit to Cypress Trail Hideout was a major fail. Maybe it's just that they opened recently or maybe it's a lack of proper management. I don't know and probably will never return to find out. read more

Had a quick lunch during the week with my husband here. Service was great and staff was friendly. I ordered a jalapeño popper appetizer as my meal. Very good and tasty. My husband got a sliced brisket sandwich. The brisket was moist and delicious. I will definitely be ordering some barbecue on our next visit. Went there yesterday for lunch with my son and his friend. Great looking location, place was very clean and the staff was quick and super friendly. The food prices were sort of a shock, a $15 hamburger and $11 BBQ sandwiches, although you do get a free side. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, the meat was tasteless and dry and the fries were nothing to brag about. Very disappointed and will stick to the much more reasonable and tasty BBQ locations around Cypress for now on! read more
