My sister came from abroad and we stayed this place. It's a place where you can get a two-bed for almost $700 per night. We were so excited before we left. But the reality was different. When my 7-year-old son tried to open the bathtub door, the large glass door fell and almost caused serious injury. I checked the whole house before leaving, but unfortunately I left a cardigan behind. I tried calling several times and left a voicemail. But they did not pick up the phone and give it back. Then the male manager answered the phone and said we had left something behind and would send it to me by mail. Even after a month it didn't come. I called and left a message again more than 5 times, but I was unable to contact them. Then today I got a call and he said, "I searched last night and this morning, but it didn't show up. So, I asked him "you told me you had it. can you look for it again today and callme back tomorrow? Then they said they had already looked for it and it wasn't there.so " If you expect any care or any respect from them for your stay, choose somewhere else. This is a dangerous structure for both children and adults, so we can be in danger, but there are no phone service , and also don't expect them to ever answer the phone. And If you leave something important behind, just think of it as throwing it in the trash.Very disappointed place. Ever.

- I booked two nights at the ranch house (biggest room), different from other houses on the tree. ****Pro: - The house is huge with 6 bed rooms. 5 separate rooms with 1 master one that include the the restroom. - the kitchen is spacious with all kitchen tools & equipments. - Clean, airy, earth scented and well-maintained inside of the house. - Quiet and peaceful atmosphere - fast customer service response *****Cons: - Outdoor grill-set needs to be washed or replaced. - There is an outdoor tube but it's neither clean nor hot tube. ***** bring your own water and foods or seasoning

My daughter and I had a blast!! Here is how it all went. The online sign-up was a breeze. We arrived about 30 minutes ahead of schedule; we did this so that we can take pics of the property(over 90 acres). Our instructors arrived and gave everyone an overview- they were very detailed at explaining the process and how our day would go. Riley and Ferus were outstanding!! All together there are five zip lines and each one was super fun. They also have treehouses ; I'll be booking them soon. I can't wait to go back.

Excellent time staying at the Yoki Treehouse! We felt like we were staying in a luxury jungle hut. Highly recommend to someone looking to stay somewhere off the beaten path with a sense of adventure. One unfortunate thing was that you can hear the highway from the treehouse (of course, nothing that could be controlled by Cypress Valley), but did detract from the overall vibe. The actual treehouse and location of the structure on the property was nothing short of perfection. The aesthetics and design are impressive. We will return to stay in another treehouse for sure.

This was our first time "glamping" and had high expectations. We booked two tents and I picked them based on their names. There was no map provided of the tent layouts so I just rolled the dice and we ended up just across from one another. The entire weekend we only encountered one other couple who were staying in a treehouse. Overall, Cypress Valley seems like it was a great place to stay and enjoy but has faded a bit over time. There are three gas grills, oversized Jenga, yard chess, and spike ball. There is a covered area next to the camp store that had a table and lounge area. The camp store had an interesting variety of items and is self regulated via iPad for checkout. The pool was very poorly kept and the water was very green. We didn't venture a swim. There are also several hammocks that were very dirty so we didn't use those either. Staying in the tents you park a short distance from the site and wagons are provided to bring your belongings up. The tents are neatly appointed, clean, and comfortable. There is a medium sized Yeti cooler on the small front landing. Linens, towels, and bathrobes are provided along with a battery for power access. The battery has a very bring strobing light on it when all items are turned off that isn't the most soothing to sleep to. The exterior of the roof is covered in debris and mold spots. The mold spots could be stains but there was no obvious sign of any cleaning (streaks, patterned mold spots, etc) that would lead that to be the case. There is a very small exhaust fan that seems to be intended to move air but is no way capable of effectively doing so for the size of the tent. The first night was miserably hot and we were dripping with sweat until a storm came in. The storm was a very strong spring Texas storm and we woke to the tent floor very wet. We let staff know via text and subsequently nothing was done. The floor remained soaked. I kind of wonder why they ask if we need anything addressed. We also expected daily housekeeping of the communal baths/showers only to have one of the toilets in poor condition for the entirety of our stay illustrating that that was not the case. All communication was done through text. While it's possible they were there, we never witnessed any staff. All in all, it was an ok adventure. We would have loved to have been able to participate in some other activities that the area has available, but they were all closed.

Cypress Valley Canopy Tours actually offers two different tours - a canopy tour and a challenge course. The canopy tour is a bunch of ziplines - the first one is scary, even though they take you through ground school on a little zipline only 6 feet above the ground, but they quickly became very enjoyable (even though I am scared of heights). The challenge course is another thing entirely. You take two ziplines to a set of platforms in the trees connected by a bunch of nefarious bridges of all different types. You can get through it walking through just a normal rope bridge, but along the edges are things like pure cables, sets of logs set sideways, a set of just three ropes where the middle rope starts below the first two on one side and ends up above them on the other, and so on. You can choose which paths you want to take, do the same things over and over, etc. This course was definitely challenging (if you choose the harder paths). When I read about rope courses I was thinking about Indiana Jones-type bridges, with a solid base held up by ropes, not bridges composed purely of a rope or of logs more than a foot apart that slide back and forth, or just a cable, etc. - all very high above the ground. The best part of the challenge course is the exit - you do a superman zip, where you go face down on the fastest zip line ever. That was a little scary at first even after all the other ziplines, since you are face down and are not braking, but quickly becomes exhilarating, as you are literally flying through the trees.

Second time here; celebrated both my kids' 16th birthdays here. Stayed in the nest both times. Love everything about this place. So beautiful- wish we could have stayed longer. Pic is them up high in the nest in the moonlight. Gorgeous.

My boyfriend surprised me with a two night stay here at the Yoki for my birthday back in February. Check in and check out was easy and staff were super friendly and welcoming. They gave us a quick tour of the treehouse before we settled in. The Yoki was stunning and so spacious. We enjoyed our coffees on the deck in the mornings. It was so peaceful and quiet. The bed was super comfortable and we slept like babies. The bathhouse was separated by a bridge - it had a soaking tub and a shower. It was so cool walking across that bridge. We had everything we needed and more. It was the perfect getaway and we can't wait to come back!

Was absolutely beautiful! We pretty much had place to ourselves where hammocks were which was perfect I feel. Was only able to do one night stay due to work but my teen said she wants to make it a yearly thing. The pictures don't do justice. It was just perfect. She said it was the best birthday present ever. Next time we will stay in yoki we stayed at the nest for our first time experience!

This place is absolutely amazing. Surprised my boyfriend for his birthday getaway and this was the perfect choice. We had a late start to get out to the property, which made us late for check in but they were so friendly and we're able to help us and get us checked in. We stayed in the Willow treehouse - love love love. The one and only thing that was was the walk to the restrooms but I still loved every bit of this mini vacay. Next day we had a zip lining tour - the instructors/tour guides were on point, informative and ready to assist. Thank you for an awesome time. Can't wait to visit again.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary this week. Checked in to the Nest on Tuesday. The accomodations are unique. This is mostly like glamping. The round pods are nicely appointed, the kitchen had a fridge and toaster oven, nice sized dining room table (6 seats). Sleeping quarters have good AC. The nighttime views were tremendous. There was a late night tussle in the canyon below, probably just a chuppacabra having dinner. After the second night we awoke to a beautiful warm day and went on the zipline tour. Shelby & Mia were exceptional. Kind, informative, professional with just the perfect amount of playfulness. Just go! And stay the night already!

From the first time I came across their website, I was excited to stay in one of their treehouses. Booked a stay for 2 in the Lofthaven, and it exceeded the high expectations I had. The photos of this treehouse were beautiful, but to see it in person was breathtaking! The beautiful waterfall tub was heated and simple to operate. The kitchenette was stocked with basic necessities, though I would recommend bringing snacks. The bed was comfortable, and the property was so serene. It did get a bit chilly overnight, but a heater, robes, and extra blankets were provided. The contact-free check in process was seamless, clear directions were given to the treehouse, and there were posted signs that helped as well. I did not get to experience the canopy tours as they were closed for COVID, but I look forward to returning in the future. This place was absolutely worth every penny and hour spent on the drive up. If you're considering it, I highly recommend, but be sure to plan ahead because it books up for months, and for very good reason.

Went here for a friend's birthday...wasn't quite sure what to expect. While I didn't do so well in ground school, when I got out on the canopy tour, I definitely enjoyed myself. The staff is great about keeping you informed of what to expect, ensuring your safety (you are always attached to something), as well as keeping a chill attitude that makes the whole experience fun. I would certainly recommend this as an out-of-the-box activity on a weekend...and since you're in the cypress trees, it's shaded, so you don't get as hot as you would out in the open sun. read more

1st time ziplining this past Saturday. Organized a bunch of us (8 of us) split up amongst 3 different times. My 3 went with Robert and Key and couldn't have asked for better guides. They made everything so much fun and not quite so scary as it looked for those with an aversion to heights. There were 5 ziplines which was awesome since I only expected 3. Will definitely try out Canopy Challenge sometime. Definitley worth the $75 and the drive out from San Antonio,TX. read more

You get what you pay for. The tour guides were great and engaging, although I would not go out of my way to zipline here, at this price. The tour is short and the zip lines are short. Most of the time is spent waiting for other members in the group to zip. May be more fun for a young family. read more

My husband and I had a fantastic time at Cypress Valley last weekend. It was a surprise Father's Day gift for my husband. I suspected he would love it and I was right. I was apprehensive but my fears were soon alleviated. The bridge/stairs were the hardest part for me to feel comfortable with but once I saw how well attached to the line I was I felt better. The scenery is beautiful and the ziplines were a blast. The tour guides, Sunshine and Ely kept us laughing. Our entire group was impressed with the tour and the guides. We will definitely go again to try the challenge tour. We brought food for a picnic and took our supplies to two local wineries and made a day of it. We enjoyed Spicewood and Stone House vineyards. read more

This place is a total blast! We came here 2 years ago on our anniversary weekend when we visited Austin for the first time. I saw a story with a video about it at the Statesman's website and HAD to come and check it out. My wife was less than enthusiastic UNTIL she tried it. After that she was zipping from tree to tree like Sheena, Queen of the jungle. The guides are all well trained and knowledgeable and put the guest's safety before anything. We paid around $60.00 each for a tour that was a little longer than an hour of zip lines and tree bridges. You head into the trees at the beginning and don't touch the ground until the end. I'm definitely going back as I hear they've expanded and added to the routes. read more

This was a fun safe place. Five of us ladies from the ages of 65 - 70 went zip lining today. We were treated with great respect. Had mire fun than we had even imagined we could possibly have. Our guides were Farris & Emily the were fun yet Safety was always the most important aspect of their job. I had the best time ever!!!! I had never zip lined before and put it on my bucket list like three years ago...so made myself do it! I am 46 years old and 190 lbs woman so you can see I was a little afraid that zip lining was way to physical for me...I brought one of my girlfriends with me who just happens to be 58 years old not over weight but not in physical shape either! Our guides Shawn and John were awesome..funny/entertaining while keeping safety first! The way you are strapped in and lean your body back you do not have to hold yourself up with your arms...the landing is smooth. The only thing that actually made me feel fear was walking across the bridge which was a little silly but I felt it all the same! They did have wild fires last year and you see lots of burnt trees but don't let this from keeping you going.....it is an awesome experience and I do recommend it!!! I also recommend paying the extra money 25.00 for a camera headset...my videos are still cracking me up and I pasted them all over face book!!!! Plan on tipping your guides...they are worth it! read more

My wife and I had a wonderful, romantic evening in the Lofthaven on 3-8. The treehouse was so peaceful and my only negative is us not being able to stay longer. We opened a couple of windows so the night breeze could pass thru and it was just amazing. Nice break from the hustle and bustle of Houston. read more

My girlfriend surprised me with the gift of adventure for our 5th anniversary. She knows I enjoy dates that involve hiking, biking...and now ziplining. Cypress Valley was a perfect place to celebrate our day together. She booked this trip ahead of time and got an 11 a.m. time slot, $75 per person. From where we live in South Austin, it was about a half hour trip (longer on the way back due to traffic), but it was a straight shot west on 71. It was an overcast day and was drizzling on the way out, but they will call and let you know if the tour has been canceled ahead of time due to rain (safety first). We had read in some reviews that this place was difficult to find, but not the case for us. A couple turns off 71 and you'll see a nice big sign at the entrance. The cloudiness ended up being nice because i'm sure the heat could be a little much if the sun was blasting down on us. But also the ziplining areas are mostly covered by trees, providing plenty of shade. We got into groups of 8 and our tour guides (Eric and Bailey, I believe) were two young, very friendly and entertaining people. They trained us well and kept things fun by challenging us to cross the bridges backwards, stretching the ropes and having us land perfectly on the stumps at the end of the zips. I guess I should mention that i'm kind of scared of heights, but love roller coasters and things like this. The zips were decent length and increased in speed as you go through the tour (about 8 zips total). The entire area is scenic and has a few group/couple/family-friendly activities like basketball and volleyball courts and a picnic area. A highlight for us was the tetherball court right by the water (I got my butt whooped). Cypress is in the process of rebuilding its "challenge course" which was damaged during last year's fires. I'm looking forward to see what the new course will have in store. Another nice perk was that I received a free water bottle just for checking in on Facebook. Simple! We packed a lunch and enjoyed the view when we were done. If the weather is right, you can also swim in the little lake while watching zipliners fly by. read more

I had been wanting to do this for a couple of years, and finally did a tour today. I got there early and they got me in on an earlier tour than I was scheduled. I had an absolutely wonderful time. I could have done it all day it was so much fun. My guides, Ian and Katerina, were awesome. They kept everyone safe and were a lot of fun to be around too. I'm ready to go back!! read more

WOW! I'm from California and I was going to visit a college friend we booked one of the tree houses and we were 95% happy with our stay! We didn't even know there was a pool and a little "lake" there for our use. When we got there we were totally able to check in early which was super nice and we enjoyed the pool! There's a trampoline for the kids and hammocks and even a small row boat you can use. The tree house itself was amazing a cool little bridge to cross and running water underneath you! The 1 complaint we had was the bugs! It's not the staffs fault but maybe a suggestion on getting nets for around the bed would be cool. I totally understood we were "glamping" but they were super annoying! Other than that we had a GREAT 1 night stay. Also thank you to the staff because they were SUPER awesome, friendly and didn't seem like they "hated" their jobs :) we will be back again for sure read more

This unique destination is simply amazing. The hubs and I celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed zip lining, wine tasting, dinner and a stay in a beautiful treehouse which were all part of their romance package. The accomodations are fun and relaxing. The Lofthaven is nestled in a serene part of the property overlooking a bubbling brook. The separate bath house is a treat with the waterfall and views. The separate sleeping house surrounds a tree and has fans, AC and a net canopy over the bed. It is slightly like camping in the sense that wildlife and insects will be part of your stay but that is to be expected when enjoying nature and didn't bother us in the least. Thank you to the welcoming staff and owners for an amazing getaway and experience! read more

First time zip-liner, and scared of heights. But we started low and slow, building our way up to the longer, faster lines. Our tour guides were very friendly and knowledgable, making sure we felt safe and confident the whole way. My family ranged in age from 16 to 64 and we all had a blast. If you are a serious adrenaline junkie, this may be a bit low-key for you, but it's still a beautiful and fun way to spend a few hours. read more

Cypress Valley Canopy tours was an awesome weekend experience! We have been ziplining in Costa Rica, and even though Cypress Valley is not in the tropical rainforest it is really fun. They have some awesome bridges that I thought were scarier than actually ziplining through the trees. It is very relaxing, and they made this place enjoyable even after you are done with your tour. My husband and I sat in the hammock and then played some teatherball before we headed out. Definitely worth the money!! read more

We stayed here. The other review is right that you have to sign a contract, but I can't blame them. Our guide was definitely young, but had a lot of useful information. We absolutely loved the trips. If you're afraid of heights, it might not be for you. I usually have a problem with heights, actually, but for me after the first trip I was fine. You have to book way in advance to stay overnight in the room in the treehouse; we did, and it was a lot of fun. We stayed on a Saturday night, and the neighbors were playing music which you could hear. I slept through it, but my wife said it kept her up. Overall, we recommend this highly and hope to go back again soon. read more

First time to zip line. I love the Texas hill country but I was a bit underwhelmed at the thrill factor. Zip lines were much shorter in distance than I expected and there were only a total of five. I felt like I was braking just seconds after I took off. I wanted more for my money. However, the crew and guides were encouraging and energetic and I felt very safe with them. Good for beginners but I'm ready to zip for more than 100ft. read more

I've been meaning to shout my review from the tree tops for a while now. My friend and I went a few summers ago, and it was such a unique adventure! If you can't make it out to Costa Rica, this is the next best option. The staff was helpful and made us feel safe. The course was gorgeous, and it was a pleasant surprise to see the beauty of the cypress trees in Texas. Next time, I hope to stay in their beautiful treehouse. read more

I did the Canopy Tour on Saturday & had a great time. It was my first time zip lining & I definitely want to come back for the Canopy Challenge which is more difficult. The staff couldn't be friendlier. The guides, Bill & Haley, were not only knowledgeable about zip lining, but also the environment. They were tour guides as much as zip lining instructors. Sadly, we had to cancel our tour because of a flat tire we got in downtown Austin. We were staying at the Hotel San Jose with friends in town from California. I understood the cancellation policy but given our circumstances, I imagined they would have refunded us and perhaps charged some sort of "fee" for the inconvenience. Instead, we were out $324. Overpriced treehouses. Electric not consistent. Maybe winter time would be better. Way to far walk for "rustic" showers and bathroom. Would be worth $100 a night not $250. Very sure I would not go back. read more

Michael and Ariel are terrific guys. Experience and Energy sorta. Very friendly an cool. We had a great time on the tour, learning about the flora and fauna and about the ecology. Being a person who is scared of heights, all my fear was gone soon after the first zip line. It was a tremendous experience zipping thru the trees. My husband and I did the canopy tour and stayed in the tree house last year for his birthday. It is so romantic and fun! The zip line was great, not scary just beautiful and liberating. Then we stayed overnight in their tree house. It is 40 feet above ground, private bath house, wrap around porch, surrounded by trees and absolutely peaceful and romantic. I would have loved to stay more than one night but the whole thing was a little over $400 for the tour for two and the overnight. Completely worth it though!!!! I would spend that much to do it again for sure. When else do you get to spend the night in the middle of no where with no one else around (literally), up in the trees???? I don't know of any other place in Texas that has this. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an extremely romantic getaway. read more

AMAZING time. A friend was in town and we did this on a whim, best decision of the weekend. It was fun zip lining from tree to tree, they were doing some construction at the time so we got to repel down from the last tree. The highlight of the trip though was the small row boat, pond, and rope swings. We had more fun than we probably should of. Lol. Beau was a great guide and I have to thank him for being a good sport when my friend was hitting on him most of the time lol. Thanks for the great memories!!!! read more

This place was great! Me and my wife were on our honeymoon and we decided to do some zip lining. Our only two choices we found in austin were here and Zip lake travis. This place is definitely all about the customer and their experience. Our tour guides were ariel (sp?) and grace, both were awesome! They both had alot of energy , made jokes, and were extremely knowledgable of zip lining and the ecology of the area. The zip lines themselves were fun, the one knock is that the zip lines were a bit short and so you never were able to go too terribly fast. Otherwise though the area is beautiful and the tour was great and the people were incredibly friendly! Definitely will be back and hopefully stay in their treehouse loft1 read more

Cypress Valley started out doing thrilling canopy tours through our beautiful valley but we have since moved to hosting folks from all over the world in our custom built Treehouses. We also have a spacious Ranch House and a brand new Glamping Tent Village. We also host events in our unique Event Center.

In 1998, Amy and David decided to move from West Austin to Texas Hill Country. The two eventually decided their new land would be perfect for canopy zipline tours, which would let them share their property without upsetting the land and surrounding nature.

The venue is tucked away in a sweet lakeside neighborhood as well so the drive there in the spring is country roads lined with wildflowers and bluebonnets which was an added plus. We rented the entire venue and had some guests stay in the other houses on the property while we stayed in La Casa De Joy and everyone absolutely loved it. For the price point and the convenience of not having to drive all the way out to Fredericksburg, Spicewood Vineyard struck the perfect balance for me for a weekend winery outing. My girlfriend and I spent a weekend staying in the Yoki treehouse. It was a fabulous place. It's very beautiful and private, and we loved waking up to the sounds of many birds. The drive from the welcome center to the treehouse was also beautiful. The Cypress Valley location is also a plus. You can cook your meals if you want, but we were able to find delicious food, and music entertainment within a 10-15 minute drive. Highly recommended. read more

I would not recommend staying at this place even though the place is beautiful the owner is very hateful and rude that alone makes the stay very unfriendly and unwelcoming. When I asked the staff "who is that person?" I was informed that he only likes a certain kind of client. I attended four classes, and in hindsight, I wish I had chosen more mind classes instead of physical ones, but now I know for next time. My first class was with Theresa, who is truly a gem at the resort. If you have the chance to take a class with her, do it! I attended her Earth Wisdom class, and I loved it. The next time I visit, I will make sure to take every class she teaches. It was a powerful experience. After that, I tried a new-to-me spa treatment called Shamana-Karma, which felt magical. I wish I could remember my therapist's name because she did an amazing job. For lunch, I ordered a burger and helped myself to the salad bar. Unfortunately, the burger was the biggest disappointment of the day--it was overcooked and more like a hockey puck. Trust me, I wasn't hungry, as the buffet offered more than enough food. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly. In the afternoon, I joined a series of yoga classes, starting with Stretch and Relax, followed by Happy Hips, and finally, Shoulders Set Free. That was quite a bit of yoga for such a short period, and by the halfway point of the Happy Hips class, I was feeling done. All three classes were taught by Amy, and between the Stretch and Happy Hips, there was a lot of repetition in the movements. Next time, I'll avoid scheduling so many yoga classes in a row. The highlight of my day, especially on such a hot Texas day, was the quiet room in the spa. Anytime I felt myself starting to melt, I would retreat there. It was so relaxing and cool! I've even started to recreate a quiet room in my home, complete with no devices, cooler temperatures, and a weighted blanket. I could have spent the entire day just in that room. I visited on the hottest day this year in Texas, with a heat index well over 100 degrees. Because of this, moving from one point to another can really heat you up. Having had heat stroke in the past makes me even more sensitive to the heat, so keep this in mind if you're planning a visit during the summer. I did have a bit of a downside experience with the pools, as both are in full sun for most of the day. The deck at the spa pool was too hot to walk on, and the gate at the other pool burned my hands. The Texas sun is no joke! By the end of the day, I was thankful that the building finally provided some shade at the spa pool, allowing me to enjoy a bit of time there. Despite the overcooked burger and the heat--which is beyond their control--it was a wonderful day. I've already shared my experience with three friends and can't wait to plan another visit. I have an extremely stressful job and home life, and this experience helped me greatly, even if only for a few hours. Thank you to everyone who works there for allowing locals to come and experience such a relaxing day!

We could actually enjoy the bottle with wince glasses. The bathroom was spacious but a shower only. I opted to leave my phone in the room to really focus on the present and not scrolling on my phone. So sadly no pictures. We booked massages in the spa. I've been to many hotel spas and this set up was rather disjointed and confusing. Coming out of the elevator (which was decorated with a Tuscan painting on the back wall) the spa shop was there but the door was locked and nobody inside. We waited for a bit until a woman saw us and came from down the hall to check us in. We had booked online and upgraded to a deep tissue massage. While the charge was there, it didn't seem to convey to her screen. She finally said okay just head down the hall, you're all checked in. So we go down the hall and find the door to the spa and really didn't know where to go. One of our therapists came out and handed us a paper to fill out as we sat on the lounge chairs and then said we could go into the dressing room to change into a robe and put our things in the lockers. We arrived an hour early to possibly enjoy the sauna or steam shower but weren't told anything. So we came back out in our robes, barefoot and filled out the short consent form and waited. There were a couple of ladies who had finished their facials or whatever service and were chairing....yet we sat there waiting for some guidance. My therapist was Hilary. The table was comfortable but not heated and she demonstrated a drop for your boobs which was interesting and a nice touch and turned on the heated table but it wasn't ever really warm. It was not by any means a deep tissue massage. More what I call a fluff and buff. I felt like I was being massaged by a massage student applying oil but didn't really wanting to touch me. I kept saying you can go deeper and use your elbows but she didn't. What she massaged on one side wasn't the same routine on the other. I think the massage was only about 45 minutes long. The hot towels were a nice touch but she kept walking away for long gaps in-between. She seemed distracted. Then after the massage, she mentioned the sauna and other amenities but at that point we had dinner reservations and needed to get ready in the room. So sadly had to decline as that should've been offered in the beginning and then the therapist come and collect us when it was time for our appointment. Maybe a tour of the spa and a better explanation should've been offered. After we got changed, once again nobody was in the shop part to check out. For the price, the service was not worth it. Same woman came from down the hall and came in and had trouble with the check out and charge. So fantastic hotel and amenities but the spa needs room for improvement. Especially since most guests have never been there before and from out of town. That's why I couldn't give a full 5 stars.

I've also experienced extraordinary five- and even six-star properties, and I've learned that true luxury isn't simply about what has been spent--it's consistency, attention to detail, anticipatory service and, most importantly, people who understand hospitality. My best friend, Janel, and I took two days to simply be together and literally open the calendar to plan some of her future travels. With her children now in college, she's at a wonderful stage of life where she wants to see the world and experience the best of the best--five-star hotels, exceptional restaurants and memorable experiences. Hotel Viata seemed like the perfect setting. The property is gorgeous--an Italianate gem tucked into the Texas Hill Country, with a sense of escape while still convenient to Austin. And then there is Ashley Quarles, Director. Honestly: How in the world is Ashley everywhere, and does she ever sleep? She was there when I checked in. She was there at the spa. When something needed attention, she was there. When I had a question or offered feedback, she was there--and genuinely wanted to hear it. After 20+ years in this industry, I recognize the difference between someone doing a job and someone taking ownership of the guest experience. Ashley takes ownership. She is warm, gracious, professional, responsive and remarkably receptive. Nothing seemed to be "someone else's department." If it affected a guest, she cared. I don't say this lightly: Ashley Quarles is a significant reason Hotel Viata operates at the level it does. Beautiful properties can be built. Genuine hospitality comes from people. The pool was a highlight. It is secluded, peaceful and exceptionally maintained. Every chaise lounge and piece of outdoor furniture was beautifully cared for, with plentiful, beautifully presented towels. I've stayed at five- and six-star properties where pool furnishings weren't maintained this well. Someone here is paying attention. I also loved the live DJ poolside. Rather than generic piped-in music, an actual DJ quietly and discreetly created the atmosphere. The music enhanced the experience without interfering with conversation--sophisticated, relaxed and beautifully done. Gabe, the pool and lounge/bar manager, was fantastic. He was present, knowledgeable, personable and refreshingly candid. He listened to what we liked and recommended what he genuinely thought we would enjoy--even steering us away from something he didn't think was right for us. That is anticipatory service rather than simply taking an order. The spa is where I saw the greatest opportunity for refinement. It is intimate and boutique, but luxury spa hospitality begins before the treatment. Janel wasn't escorted to her locker or provided spa footwear, and her heated massage table wasn't functioning properly and was actually cool, requiring her to request another blanket. These things didn't ruin the experience; they are opportunities. It's those seemingly small details that transform a good massage into an exceptional luxury spa experience. I shared them with Ashley, who listened without defensiveness and genuinely wanted to know. I left believing she would actually do something with the feedback. Dinner was fantastic--quality ingredients, beautiful preparation and presentation. And Luis was magnificent. He is a true mixologist who understands his craft and can explain the ingredients and thought behind his creations. More importantly, he understands anticipatory service. He listened to what we were looking for and essentially said, "Let me show you what I think you'll love." He was right. Our room was beautiful, with exceptionally comfortable beds, wonderful linens and a luxurious sense of space. We did have a temperamental telephone and a toilet that wasn't functioning quite properly. There were also small arrival-service inconsistencies involving assistance to the room and obtaining ice. These should be addressed, but they didn't define our stay. After two decades in hospitality, I've learned: No property is perfect. What matters is what happens when something isn't perfect. Hotel Viata already has the difficult pieces--a gorgeous property, beautiful rooms, excellent food, an exceptionally maintained pool and people who care. The smaller inconsistencies can be fixed. Gabe demonstrated genuine hospitality at the pool. Luis demonstrated it at dinner. And Ashley Quarles demonstrated it everywhere. Janel and I came to relax, reconnect and dream about where her next adventures might take her. We left thoroughly enjoying Hotel Viata and appreciating the people who took care of us. Beautiful hotels are easy to find. Beautiful hotels filled with people who genuinely understand hospitality are much rarer. Hotel Viata has those people.

To start off, Instructions to our room were incorrect. It says to park in the back then exit your vehicle to the walkway and go left at the Y, then up a staircase on your right and the Travis door would be the second door on the right and to use the keypad. There is no door on the second floor that says Travis with a keypad. You have to go around to the front of the house and find the door on the FIRST floor that says Travis with the keypad to get in. We were checking in at night and after trying all the stairs at the back of the house where we were told to park and looking at all of the doors, we finally went to the front of the house and found our correct room/door on the first floor. This place is only good if you're a hard sleeper, or if you're here to party and stay up until 2:00 am. Bring ear plugs if you want any sleep before 2:00 am!! The details say quiet time at the house starts at 10:00 pm, but why bother with that "rule" when this house sits across the street from a bar/music venue that stays open until 2:00 am.. You can hear their music blaring and thumping, cars screeching down the side road, people talking on the sidewalks and street, and we even heard a girl throwing up outside at 12:40 am. Also heard an irate man who was kicked out of the bar wandering the street in front of the house screaming profanity and racist comments from 12:30-1:00. It was a great spectacle to watch from our balcony since we couldn't sleep. We heard most of this noise from inside the bedroom while we were trying to sleep, which we did not get to do until after 2:00 as we also heard the bar close and everyone empty out onto the street in front of the house. The battery was missing in the fan/light remote in the bedroom so you couldn't use the fan to help cool the room or to help with white noise. I would've thought this was checked when the room was "cleaned" before our arrival. There was a used k cup still in the coffee maker from whoever stayed last. There also seemed to be a little white mold spot on the wood floor under the AC unit, and tons of stains on the old carpet on the stairs. Also the shower liner was disgusting, the bathroom tiles were dirty, and the toilet brush by the toilet was disgusting. While the house was cute on the outside, the "suite" itself definitely didn't feel like a suite, nor did it feel clean, safe, or relaxing. Such a waste of $263 for ONE night. I was hoping paying more for a place for one night, it would be better than some local hotels but boy were we wrong.

This rundown location is extremely noisy and not at all a place of rest. It also lacks even the most basics. It has a kitchen but no wash rag for the sink, nor any ice trays for the freezer. A Kurig, but no coffee pods (not even the cheapest of stuff that roadside motels nowadays offer). No facial tissues to be found anywhere?? Table stakes. Also, must add that this place is potentially quite insecure. There is an external keypad (only) for the entry door, but no way to lock that from within (see photo). Thus, presumably, whomever has stayed previously in your "suite" or who maybe is/has been employed here in some capacity could possibly access your room at any hour of the day or night. And will add - importantly - that the dumpy little bar across the street is open until 2:00a SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. Thump, thump, thump all night long, accompanied by drunken wailing and constant comings and goings of loud trucks with a minimal exhaust system (if any). One will enjoy slamming automobile doors every handful of minutes, especially towards closing time. The music also gets louder and louder as the witching hour approaches - an old bar manager trick to the drinkers a-drinkin.' Oh, patrons park directly in front of McKenzie - literally right outside of your front door if you happen to be in a front unit (woe is you). You are expected to park in the back and walk around if in a front unit. Within the building, there's seemingly zero sound-proofing, either vertically or horizontally. Can clearly make out the words of everyone around you at all hours (made some recordings if ownership/management is ever interested). Which, of course, in turn means that every single thing you say within the confines of your room is up for grabs by all of your neighbors. If you book a ground floor room, every single footstep above will be experienced loudly. As far as aforementioned ownership/management, just know that they will be utterly unsympathetic to any pleas regarding any of this - it's, you know, beyond their control or ability to remedy (even though they haven't warned you about any of this as part of the booking process). This property is a red flag DO NOT STAY under any circumstances - including if the only alternative is to sleep in your vehicle. You were warned.

The kitchen has all the dishes, pots and utensils you need as well as some great breakfast treats. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and very comfortable. The great room has cozy spots to sit and chat as well as a huge TV for movies. The grounds, pool, hot tub and patio area are great places to hang out with a glass of wine and some appetizers. Everything is neat as a pin and perfectly decorated. Kimberly is always available to walk you through setting your music up to the house speakers or remind you of your gate code. I recommend this place highly! You won't be disappointed!
