After using them several times (with decent results) to clean my carpets, I had a TERRIBLE experience with DA Burns with an antique area rug. NEVER use them for stain removal on any rug that is of value or that you really care about. I called and told them that I had an area rug with a stain so they sent out a technician, who ended up bringing the rug into the shop to be cleaned. He opted not to clean it on site because he said they would do a much better job, however when I picked it up a week later they had made the stain much much worse (essentially ruining the rug). Never in the discussion did he warn me that that was a possibility, however the folks in the shop acted like that was a perfectly normal outcome and that I shouldn't have been surprised. On Saturday I had Stephen from D.A. Burns come to my home to clean a sofa and chair set that had been soiled badly by my cats. I'd tried to clean them myself and had made a really bad mess even worse. Stephen kept me up to date on when he was coming and showed up when he said he would. I must say he did what I thought would be impossible - he took a wreck of a couch and chair and made them look like new. The smell and stains are gone and I'm so, so pleased. Thanks to Stephen and D. Recently, I called DA Burns for an emergency spot carpet treatment. My five year old grandson had taken a bright blue spray paint can (lacquer) and happily sprayed a straight line from our hobby room, through the family room, down the hall and into a guest room! We were besides ourselves, thinking that we'd have to replace the carpet. They sent a man out that afternoon and he was able to get almost all of the paint out of the carpet! What a relief that was. If only I could get them to stick to the appointment time. The technician called a number they had in the system from 20 years ago, not my mobile. So I took off PTO for nothing and now I have to wait another month between tenants. I assume that paying the highest price in town for carpet cleaning would get a tech who makes the effort, but I guess not. I'm done with DA Burns. read more

Update: after Mike left his reply on my original review, I called and gave him the property manager's number so he could arrange with them to go back to the apartment and see if they could do anything more about the stains that were left. I didn't receive any further update so I'm not sure if they worked something out or not, but in the end my security deposit was not charged for any carpet damage. It would've been nice if everything had been taken care of to begin with, but they did go out of their way to show that they care about their customers. read more

So so. My guy arrived about 45 minutes late for the first of the day appointment. Though I had specifically said I needed furniture moved, he came alone and unprepared to have to move the furniture. I can't say the cleaning was all that good. He wasn't particulaly careful with the baseboards or my furniture for that matter...trying to put a chair on top of my wooden nightstands (I had to tell him to remove it because he'd scratch the tops). Stupid stuff like that. There are still those dark stains along the baseboards and in corners. I've had the carpets cleaned 3 times in their 10 years of existance, and this wasn't the best cleaning by a long shot. It was on par w/ the Groupon cleaning I had. Very so-so. read more

I had a real serious (panic attack serious) carpet emergency yesterday. I was hoping they'd be able to come out right away, but they couldn't. They came this afternoon- actually just one gentleman- and got ALL of the stains and piles of crap out. I think I paid more than regular carpet cleaning, but the "emergency" was so bad that I was prepared to rip off the whole carpet and replace it, so just the fact that he got everything out was amazing!! The only downside was that deodorizer smells really strong- I was choking downstairs after 5 seconds. I guess with what was on the carpet, it was probably necessary to use something really strong, but it's still smelling really strong after 4 hours of open windows & fans. I will most definitely call them again, but maybe ask them to go easy on the deodorizer or don't use it at all for regular cleaning. read more

They did an excellent job on our carpet. My husband spilled a grande mocha, and we weren't sure the stain could be removed, but now I can't even see where it was spilled! Quick, easy, not too much smell, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend. read more

DA Burns has the best customer service EVER. My basement flooded for the first time this year...lots of mud and water and a big mess. DA burns came out and pulled up the carpet took it to their shop, dried it, and brought it back. I had them bind the edges so that if the basement ever got wet again I could easily pick up the carpet. and then the basement flooded again...ugg. The point is that I was so glad to have someone to call who was so competent and understanding and fast and good. I would highly recommend DA Burns. read more

I was very pleased with the service that I received at DA Burns. The staff was very knowledgable and very helpful. We had two rugs cleaned. One very large and one very small. They did a very good job. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is that it was pretty expensive. I don't have much to compare the prices to as I am not always getting rugs cleaned, but it seemed high. I would recommend D A Burns for sure. Moving my office this week and planning carefully so as to have as little down-time as possible... when I rolled out my very large new rug, (purchased to cover the less-than-lovely (um, gross) flooring in the new space), I discovered I'd miscalculated and the rug was 1 foot too big to allow the door to open properly. I guess with all the problems in the world, a "carpet emergency" seems relatively minor -- but in the midst of balancing the logistics of my move while staying open for business, it was very stressful! I can't say enough good things about DA Burns' exceptional service -- everyone, from the staff in the office to the delivery people were responsive, gracious and eager to find a solution to my area rug disaster in time for the furniture to be placed and my doors to open. I have always used D.A. Burns for cleaning apartments in my 4plex, but my own carpet was so dirty I thought I would have to replace it. Then guests were coming, in a panic I called D.A. Burns and they send a really great guy out--he made the carpet as good as new! I was astonished and so was my husband. This is a great service--and they always give you a stain remover to help keep things in order until you call them again. I highly recommend these folks. Although the person who helped me was kind, the other employees I saw inside all looked stressed, tired, or checked out. We had an appointment with Da Burns today. I am very, very, very grateful for their honesty and customer service. The technician came in and tried to get a few stains out. After a few minutes he explained to us that there was nothing they could do. He offered to keep trying but was very confident they couldn't get the stains out. He didn't charge us for his work. I really appreciate his honesty and his time. He was very kind about the situation and I really belive he was trying to save us the cleaning fee. I would suggest this place to anyone. read more

I have used DA Burns product in my home for years! It is a great product! Based on that and customer service that you receive when you go to the shop to buy the product; these people had me sold for carpet cleaning. So years ago I used them. It was a very strange experience! The boy (young kid) went out to his car and didn't finish the job. Later, I talked with the head guy and what I remember is that he was very nice and tried to fix the problem. I just chalked it up to a young inexperienced worker. That brings me up to a few weeks ago when I decided to give them another go. I hadn't used them now in several years and called to find out what they charged and what they did. She told me that when the guy comes out...he would tell me exactly how much, he would prevacuum and he would treat stains prior to starting the job of cleaning. When Jim arrived, I thought great guy! Then he proceeded to just start the carpet cleaning. When I told him what I was told, he said, "all your stains will come out! Your carpet will look very nice when done!" Well, I thought that's the bottom line so I kept quiet from there. When he was done...it didn't look perfect but looked so much better that I thought must be okay. Little did I know that the carpet was so wet that it didn't show the problems that were becoming apparent as the carpet dried. I don't believe that the carpet was EVER cleaned to the wall and there are spots that showed up when dry that I don't feel should have had they had done what they told me at the office they were going to do. (that is...pre treat stains and pre vacuum.) So, needless to say I am very dissapointed. These are really nice people that have a terrific product, but I think some of there workers are NOT following through like they should. I have furniture and other area rugs to clean and now I am hesitating ALOT. I wonder now if I am more assertive about the workers DOING what I am told they should be doing..., if I would be happy....BUT then should I really HAVE to babysit their workers???? read more

We purchased a leather Ekornes chair from Craig's list. Checked it carefully, we thought, and even asked the seller "anything wrong with the chair" his response "no". After a through cleaning with conditioner/cleaner recommended by Dania, a terrible odor of burnt wood came from the chair. We brought it into DA Burns in Ballard, explained the situation and they said they would do their best to remove the odor. Picked up the chair today and it smells like LEATHER, YEA!! Had a stairway, landing, 2 bedrooms, a sectional sofa and an area rug cleaned yesterday by Fred. He was great. Super nice, thorough, explained what he was doing. They use these plastic 'guards' so that their hoses don't scratch up your walls and doorways. I used a cheaper service last year and the difference is vast! I also don't think it was too expensive for all that he did and how nice it all looks. I would totally recommend DA Burns. read more

I have worked with DA Burns before and really liked their work and their service. The last time I brought in an area rug, it took a while before I was able to put it back down. The rug didn't really look any cleaner then when I brought it in. I paid for the cleaning and the extra for the scotch guard. These folks are top notch! Years ago, they were the only company we used to clean the carpets in our house. Then we got hardwoods and so for a decade I didn't use their services. I now have a couple of rooms in my home that are carpeted...and a very old dog who sometimes doesn't make it outside! The service is great from them from the moment you call for an appointment.
