Pretty good italian restaurant not far from where we live. I honestly love the decor, it's very darling inside & I love the atmosphere, somehow it's classy but casual at the same time. Pros: great food! I love love love their ravioli with pink sauce, is obviously pretty simple but has such great flavor. Their italian antipasti salads are always very fresh & a great appetizer to share before moving on to the heavier pasta dishes. Cons: I just never feel like the price is worth the food, definitely the biggest reason as to why we don't come back often. It's not ridiculously expensive but I just never felt the ingredients or atmosphere issued that much money to be dished out for a "decent meal". We really want to support local business since moving to Camarillo. The young kids that work here are great . We ordered Rigatoni with Vodka sauce with chicken. Very little flavor. We also ordered Chicken Florentine ehh. Now to the pizza. I ordered it very specific being a pizza snob from Jersey. Extra cheese well done. Lets start with the sauce there was none. The cheese was fair at best, and the crust is awful. I can never understand why people use cornmeal when you have flower to stretch the dough. Whoo boy! So, I had seen this place before...checked out their menu and thought they were WAY over priced. But...we were with friends and they wanted to try it out. Maybe it would be exceptional. So I've eaten plenty of pizza in my day, but $24 for a medium pizza? In Camarillo? Yeah, yeah...I've read the other reviews. Sorry pal...this was not worth $24 bucks. The clams cost me $20 for a skimpy serving of pasta with a dozen clams. So I kid you not...tasteless...bland...not even a hint of garlic. Sent it back...which I never do. Changed it for pesto...$16 for another skimpy serving of tasteless, too much pesto. How can you possibly make pesto with so little flavor? Seriously? You gonna charge $20 bucks for plate of pasta that is skimpy and tasteless? In Camarillo? In better be great and plenty of it. So, I told the waitress the vegetable pasta was pretty bland too. She agreed and said they were just vegetables tossed with olive oil. No seasoning...nuttin'. The seafood appetizer was like a soup, again with no flavor. $7 for a small Ceasar salad. We spent over $120 for totally untraditional Italian cuisine. I've eaten a lot of Italian meals in many different cities...this was pretty poor. Very disappointed. I ordered thru yelp. It was stated that they were open till 9 pm . I placed the order at 7:55 pm. I got a confirmation on the yelp app to expect pick-up between 8:35-8:55 pm. I got to the restaurant to pick up at 8:15 and was told -Sorry we are closed. I told them i was just picking up my order. I was told they did not get my order. Then i showed the confirmation- . The host then checked the order log(?) then said- oh I just refunded that order. Obviously he did not even read the order because i did indicate- call me if You have any questions - . D'Amore's is the place! I have lived in Camarillo for years aardvark somehow missed this Gem. To the atmosphere is adorable. The service is personable and helpful. Noël is so kind, friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and perfectly portioned. Wee went on a Wednesday and I it was buy one pizza and get the second one half off soooo of course we had to. I've heard D'Amore's is known for their great pizza. We order from DoorDash a medium pizza with Canadian bacon and a chicken entree. The chicken was really good, but we were very disappointed by the pizza that cost $22. The Canadian bacon looked like sliced ham and was thrown on one side of the pizza all bunched up, okay I can deal with that, not a big problem. No one in my family liked the pizza because of the crust, it had a lot of corn mill on the top and bottom of the crust. Seemed as they make their crust out of corn mill, very crunchy and gritty. Maybe others like this but not us. We will order entrees again but will skip the pizza if this is their normal recipe. We have been customers, literally for years - have met the owner while waiting for take-out, etc. No more - WAY too expensive, with Poor service - COVID changed everything. For us too - we hurt too! So paying $9.50 for a tiny box of romaine, is smug, outrageous, and insulting! Ordered food via their website for takeout in December. When my husband got there at the scheduled pick up time, he was shocked to see they were seating people indoors during the strict lockdown and defying the governor's orders. Profits over people's lives? On top of that, the management is a mess. They didn't hear about our order and literally placed it right there by telling the kitchen what to cook. We had to wait another 20 minutes after the scheduled pick up time. They also asked my husband to pay. I paid online on their website! They were surprised to hear that. Why even have a website if you don't get orders from it? As much as I want to support local businesses during this difficult Covid19 time, I don't want to order at this place again because they seem not to care that local hospitals are packed, we are at 2% ICU capacity, doctors and nurses are begging people not to go anywhere. But this business (like a few other businesses in Camarillo) does not care about it. All they care is $$$$$$. Disappointing. Workers are pleasant and good service. Wish the kitchen workers are more consistent with the dishes. I'm vegetarian and usually order the same thing every time. They sometimes slice their veggies and other times dice them. When they are diced, there is very very very little in my dish. And that's extremely disappointing considering that's my whole meal and all I get are a few diced vegetables. I like them sliced better because then, the meal is more substantial. Also, my dish comes with two different types of squash, mushrooms and red bell peppers. That's what makes the dish, a nice variety. Other times, there is only one type of squash and that was all. Never been here before and I was invited by some friends. They said it was pretty good. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great or special either. I had the dinner special ($9.95) with a choice of Caesar salad or house salad. I had the house and the salad itself wasn't anything impressive but the Italian dressing was pretty good. The serve it in a cruet on the side. They have like 6 choices and I had the lasagne with meat sauce. The meat sauce was a classic red with plenty of meat but the serving was just a small square with some sauce on the side. The bread was some bland hard bread slices with an olive tapenade that wasn't that great. I don't know what I was expecting for the price but I like my lasagne baked in a dish with the crusty cheese. The waitress was all business not very friendly. We sat in a weird half booth half table and my table wobbled. We had a great time though but I think it was because of my friends not the atmosphere. read more

I have been sitting here for 2 hours for my pizza that still isn't ready. I ordered it an hour before I arrived... I don't care what the excuse or reasoning is , to make some one wait this long for their pre ordered food is ridiculous! Then after an hour of waiting I ask how much longer, I get "a while", after 1 hour and 45 min I ask again , I get. "It'll be ready in a while!! Mind you when I ordered by phone it was, " it will be ready in 45 min" so rude staff, still haven't got my food and it's now been 2.05 hrs since I got here to pick it up. I'm ready for a refund and never ever come back! Don't care how good the food is at this point ! I mean at least offer some damn breadsticks or something while people are waiting because you don't have your s**t together! Came here for dinner with a few friends and had a mixed experience. Came again for lunch and had a much better experience. For dinner we had the lasagna, which some other reviewers said was the best they ever had, a house salad, and spinach ravioli in pink sauce. The house salad was pretty standard, with a nice Italian dressing on top. The spinach ravioli in pink sauce was enjoyable, and the pasta dough tasted like it was made fresh and was cooked al dente. However, the lasagna left a lot to be desired. Although the portion was large, the quality was poor. The beef in it was very dry and needed more seasoning, as did the entire dish. Even though there were many components and adequate amount of sauce, the lasagna was very bland. Service was also a mixed experience. For those in the group who ordered paid beverages, they had ample and quick refills. But those who only had water were not given any refills the entire meal, even despite asking for more water. While some of the group enjoyed their meal and want to come back here, I do not feel the same. However, it seems if you stick to certain items on the menu like ravioli and order paid drinks, you will have a great experience. Just don't order the lasagna. This said, we did come back for lunch. Got the Penne Arrabiata this time, which is penne in a spicy garlic tomato sauce. The lunch special is a great deal for $10, you get salad, an entree, and bread knots. However, the bread knots we got tasted like they were just leftovers from the night before as they were hard and strangely cold in the center. Despite that, the penne in the spicy sauce was delicious, especially with the addition of sausage for $1. I do recommend going for lunch and trying out the Penne Arrabiata. That being said, we still didn't get our waters refilled. Maybe the trick is to order two waters at the beginning? I guess I'll try that next time and see how it goes. read more

I came here on Christmas Eve with my boyfriend, son, and boyfriend's parents. Most of us enjoyed the food, although my son didn't like his cheese pizza and he normally likes cheese pizza. So I agree with the other reviewers who say the pasta is better than the pizza. But the reason for my low rating is because the staff was walking around with no masks on. Not one staff member had a mask on. Nobody else I was with had a problem with that, but I was angry that the staff was putting my health at risk and I am the one writing this review. Supposedly known as a pizza joint, I wasn't impressed. So far, by the slice, Tony's NY pizza is better. They should change their name from D'Amore's Pizza to D'Amore's Pasta. Their pastas is what saved their rating because aside from their menu, the service was below par. It seems as though they're overstaffed. Waiters were standing around and even talking in the back. There was one waitress that seemed to earn her tips. Everyone else was just riding on the restaurant name for their share. Great variety of pastas: all types with tons of sauces and such. I had the Gnocchi broccoli pollo (potato dumplings with broccoli and chicken in a cream sauce). Went with a big group and everybody liked their dishes! Nobody tried the pizza but they are marketed as very healthy and delicious. Great ambiance, small restaurant but cozy. It's been a couple years since I've been here. The first time I dined in, we had the most amazing Tiramisu and continued to order take out from here in the past. I have always loved their veggie pizza but tonight I had both the tiramisu and a veggie pizza delivered and it just wasn't the same as I remembered. The pizza flavor is just off, I don't know if it's the wrong combination of veggies or something else, but the whole pizza was soggy except the crust which had no flavor. It was worse than frozen. Underwhelmed and overpriced. I just ordered on their website. 1 large 14 inch cheese pizza and a small garden salad with ranch and add an extra ranch. To their credit, the email confirmation said when they would be here and the driver was a couple minutes early. The pizza was room temperature and very bland. I had to heat it up and add salt and parmesan and it still wasn't very good. The salad came with 1 Italian dressing instead of 2 ranch. I had ordered pasta and some other items in the past and they were great. I thought, they are a pizza place, so the pizza should also be great. Not so much. Save the $33+ and nuke a frozen one.
