What an amazing evening and dining experience at Lucerne this evening. I used to frequent Lucerne over 10 years ago when I lived in Camarillo and they were at their previous location. Upon entering the new location we were greeted by Roberto who led us to a lovely table near the window. Ruby, Pheobe, Rebecca and Roberto took great care of us with their kind, professional and gracious customer service. What wonderful individuals. If my memory serves me right Jose, Roberto's brother is the master chef in the kitchen. All of the staff were amazing. We started with their amazing fresh warm bread. I had a lovely Red Blend and my wife chose water. My wife had a Caesar salad and I had the minestrone soup. Oh so good. Ruby and Roberto took our entree orders. My wife had the chicken marsala and I had the linguine lobster pasta special. Oh my was the food beyond words. So tasty and scrumptious. After our entrees Phoebe we decided to indulge in the dessert menu. Oh my goodness. I had the spumoni with a cup of delicious coffee and my wife had the tiramisu. I've been visiting this restaurant since it was located near Round Table in Camarillo. I've always enjoyed the friendly staff, and the owners have been welcoming and personable over the years. One of the highlights is definitely the dessert tray--it's next level and always tempting! The atmosphere and service have consistently been positive, which is why we've continued coming back. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that during our last few visits, the pasta dishes seemed to have more tomatoes than pasta. It may have just been an off experience, and we're willing to give it another try because we've enjoyed it in the past. Really love this place. This was my first visit since they relocated so it has been a while for me. Inside is clean and intimate setting. Menu has a nice variety and they has specials as well. Would love to see the specials on the board or a print out to reference. There were also some gluten free options. If you like wine, they have a great selection. The menu is 4 pages of wine and 2 pages of food. Had the lasagna and it was phenomenal, highly recommend. Also tried the baked brie which was just OK. A very good menu with a lot of variety. The bruschetta was unlike any I've had before, warm. It was delicious, as bruschetta is, but was heated up which was a nice surprise and so far my favorite restaurant bruschetta. The wait staff was on the ball, coming by to check that everything was good and keeping are drinks full as needed. Top notch service as you would expect at a restaurant at this price point. First time trying Lucerne and it was excellent. It's a small, intimate restaurant with simple aesthetic but the food was amazing! You learn a lot from the bread a restaurant serves and this place wasn't any different. Garlic bread. House bread. Focaccia bread. We ordered the cioppino and split it. Had a few glasses of wine. We went to this restaurant for dinner as a group of six. The place feels a bit more on the fancy side compared to regular spots, but the prices are actually really good. I had the pasta Carbonara, and it tasted great -- big portion, fresh, and the complimentary bread was delicious. My boyfriend got the pasta Bolognese with a side of meatballs. He was a little disappointed that his pasta didn't have much sauce, and he said the meatballs were just okay. Most of our friends really liked their food though. The service was nice -- not the type that comes by every five minutes, but also not slow. We didn't have to wait long for water or anything else. The atmosphere was super cool too, with lots of wine bottle decorations and some calm opera-style music playing in the background. Reservation for 4 on a Saturday night which they honored (NICE!). A bread basket and waters were brought to the table soon after we were seated. Two types of bread - both delish. For my entree, I went with the pasta special - a linguini dish with lots of seafood in a cream sauce ($35). I asked to have a very light touch on the sauce which they did perfectly. The dish was fabulous (and huge - lots of leftovers to take home. My wife got the halibut ($45). It came with a side of veggies and a small portion of pasta. It was only OK at best. My buddy got the chicken Marsala. While the Marsala sauce was quite good, the meal was just OK at best. Parking is super easy with many choices in the parking lot. It is a beautiful establishment. You walk in and you know you are in for an elevated dining experience. The menu was extensive and everything was delicious. I wish I had pictures of the food, but we could not stop from digging in! This was my first time visiting Lucerne and what a wonderful experience it was. I met a friend for dinner and the ambience was perfect. I ordered the Capellini Lucerne and it was so delicious. They serve the most delicious home made bread made by the mother of the family with a hint of garlic. Some of the rolls are heart shaped. love! Everyone at restaurant is so attentive. The owner is constantly circling the restaurant and visiting with guests. After eating bread and chatting I wasn't that hungry so got a to go box. I ate this for dinner. Cold. So not me eating leftovers or eating them cold. It was one of the best leftovers I've ever had. The flavors were elevated even more. Yum. What a beautiful family owned local restaurant. We've been here twice already and so far its been consistent. I'm pretty simple and ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and we decided to order a bottle of wine for Valentine's day. While my significant other like to try other things. No issues with the food and a more authentic taste. We love the atmosphere and heavy decorated with wine bottles. Not only the wine bottles are decor they are real bottles used to serve customers. The only thing I would suggest is they update their reservation system. It was a little confusing because I booked on their website for Valentine'a day and booked a 6pm with an email confirmation. Mind you, I've only been here twice and did not know they don't take reservations for such occasions. But anywho, it worked out and we ended up getting a bigger table. First time visiting their new location in the same shopping center on Arneill I've always had a great meal at Lucerne, it's probably the most under mentioned places to eat at in Camarillo but is a really great dining experience with tasty Italian food. Each meal comes with a complimentary bread basket and butter, they have daily specials which always sound tasty, and everything on their menu I've had has tasted really good. It was chilly so I opted to to try their soup of the day which was a pink chowder. Really clean and warming soup, it was a great choice. My wife was craving garlic bread and it comes with 6 pieces, perfect for sharing and has such a great garlic flavor. Perfect for dipping into sauces. Their eggplant parmigiana is perfectly cooked and filling! And their Alfredo pasta was so cheesy and yummy! It's a nice pairing and you can ask for parmesan cheese on top. We finished with their creme brulee. I definitely recommend leaving room for dessert they have a small selection but everything is good and reasonably priced. The new location has a lot more space and tables and the interior definitely is brighter. Service is always very attentive and top notch. Can't remember if they had this in the past but you can now pay your bill via QR code and a payment portal which is helpful for those using apple pay or Gpay. First time visiting the new location and IT IS gorgeous!! It is nice to find a quiet relaxing ambiance in Camarillo these days since most restaurants are too loud and noisy for conversation. They have an excellent wine list and the most delicious fresh baked bread and chilled butter to sip and enjoy while deciding what to order. We were in town celebrating our recent wedding with some family and not only was dinner incredible, it was a nice quiet setting to enjoy time with loved ones. So so good! Came here with my husband for date night. We happen to just make a last minute decision to find Italian. Service was very good. We came in on a Thursday and it was not busy. But the waiter came in and checked on us as appropriate. Water filled, asked about food etc. feels like a family owned business. Food was delicious. Really enjoyed every bite we had. Lobster linguine was a special that night and was our favorite item. The sauce is so creamy and they give you a decent amount of protein. The chicken Parmesan was good too! The veggies were cooked well. The best part was the penne pasta. So simple yet again sauce is so rich and delicious. We did have the buffalo mozzarella and it did not disappoint. Again their sauces are perfection. Ended the night with their crème brûlée and you guessed right! It was fantastic. Good portion to share as well. One of the biggest portions we've had. We had the swordfish special and cioppino. The fish was simply not good. Bland, tough, and came with fairly uninspired angel hair. The cioppino was so-so, more tomato saucy than broth-stewy. Generous portion of seafood in the cioppino. Her wine was fine, my lemonade was very watered down. Maybe this was just an off-night. Maybe we didn't stick to the basics and went out on a limb with our orders. If I wanted a standard spaghetti and meatballs, I'd make it myself. Although the new space is more open and obviously updated I do miss the darker vibe of the old place. That's just more my preference for softer lighting as the lights in the new space are fairly bright. Overall this is a good date night spot or just come because the food is good. Onto the food. We started with some very delicious garlic bread with actual garlic. For a main I ordered the cannelloni with a Caesar salad. My husband got the eggplant parmesan. Everything was flavorful and generously sauced. I decided to get creme brulee for dessert. It was good and they did not burn the topping which is always a good sign. What an amazing dinner. We were here on a Thursday night around 7. We were sat right away. The baked Brie was delicious. It was served on Italian bread which was a little different than we usually get. I had the gnocchi formaggi. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and the sauce was yummy. My husband had the cannelloni and really enjoyed his meal as well. Service was spot on. They worked as a team to make sure our meal was perfect. We've gone for lunch several times at their new location. The owner served us each time and is so polite and accommodating. The food is authentic, and the portions are large, fresh and very tasty. My mom likes Capellini pasta with Alfredo sauce, shrimp, and fresh tomatoes, which is not on menu, but they willingly made for her. My sister has garlic issues and they took the time to answer her questions about which dishes have or don't have garlic (not all restaurants are so patient and servers are sometimes uninformed which food has garlic, causing her to be sick). I was visiting the area and tasked with finding an Italian restaurant for my brother's birthday, and decided on Lucerne. The wine list met with brother's approval, and it being open until 9:30 (on a Tuesday) was a deciding factor. We weren't sure what to expect, but I can honestly say that Lucerne exceeded our expectations in every way. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in and the food was exquisite, some of the best Italian food any of us have ever had. From the eggplant parmigiana to the lobster ravioli, everything was clearly made fresh and in-house and beautifully presented. Even the prices were reasonable. The icing on the cake (ha) was that they overheard us talking about it being my brother's b-day, and brought him a lovely piece of tiramisu, which again was some of the best we've ever had. Oh, and there were six of us and the reservation system didn't seem to have openings for that many, so I called them up, talked to someone, easily made our reservation. We ordered the Gnocchi Quattro Formaggi and the Chicken Lasagna special, both absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The Caesar salad was crisp and fresh, and the tiramisu was the perfect finish -- light, creamy, and not too sweet. We paired everything with a glass of rosé and red wine, and both were lovely. Lucerne has some of the most delicious pasta I've ever had in ventura county! From appetizers to dessert, you'll find something you'll enjoy. I tried their gnocchi dish recently and was disappointed. Flavor was there but texture wasn't pillowy nor melt in your mouth gnocchi that I expected. However, their other dishes such as baked Brie with roasted garlic, fried calamari, risotto, creme brûlée, absolutely delicious!!! My boyfriend and I live in Camarillo and enjoy trying all sorts of restaurants - while neither of us are picky eaters, I fail to understand why its rated highly. We ordered the Garlic Bread, Ravioli and Linguini with Shrimp. The garlic bread was thick cold bread with parmesan cheese and raw garlic packed on the bread; it was rancid and not even a melted butter. The shrimp was not cleaned on my boyfriend's plate. The ravioli was from a can; both the ravioli and the sauce. I prefer ricotta ravioli, personally, so I thought I would ask what type of cheese was inside since the menu didn't mention. The third person brought to my table said "I don't know." I asked if it was made there or brought in, which is a valid question. He laughed and said "it's probably..." and started listed a million random cheeses on top of mozzarella. When asked if we wanted fresh parmesan, we said yes - great source of flavor. They brought a jam dish filling with the powder you pick up at the grocery store trying to pass it as fresh parm. The only thing positive is it's clean, most likely because it's a newly re-opened establishment. I tell people not to come here, I was sad considering we'd rather eat at a local spot than a chain. Considering the reviews this place has received, I decided to try Lucerne Restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the reviews after trying it out. Walking up to the front door I was a little concerned how this place would be. It was in a strip mall but the whole place looked run down so right off the bat I was worried. When my brother and I walked in, everyone was staring at us and it seemed as if the service would not be as good for us. I believe they had a lot of regulars. It was uncomfortably warm in there--almost to the point of wanting to take the food to go. Eventually they opened the door but it was super hot. We ordered our food and the bruschetta as an appetizer. They separated it onto two plates which was nice, but the cost was way high for the portion size. It was literally two pieces of bread with tomatoes, onions, and capers. Not much taste at all, so I would not recommend it. For the meal, I had the mushroom ravioli which was delicious; the creamy sauce had a great flavor and my brother actually enjoyed my meal more than his gnocchi with chicken. I really enjoyed the sauce on his as well, it was similar to a red vodka sauce which I like tomato-based sauces. They didn't really pay too much attention to us in general; I think they were upset we didn't order drinks and stuck with water. We received the appetizer but never got the pre meal salads until we asked, by that time we were almost finished with our meals and pretty full. Overall I was not impressed and would not visit this establishment again. One of the waiters did give us a dessert for free which was nice but only because they felt bad they didn't bring our salads at the right time. read more
