Don't gamble your stress, time and money on his low-ball prices TLDR - Dave made a major mistake causing $20k+ damage to my rental unit making me unable to rent it. The unit was newly remodeled (I spent the past 2.5 years, every penny of my savings, and every second of my free time personally designing, procuring materials, and remodeling the unit). He refused to use his insurance, harrassed me until I agreed to let him use his own workers to fix his mistakes, then stopped paying his workers so they stopped showing up. I am forced into a lawsuit because I am currently out over $20k. --- PRICING - If you do want to work with him, make sure to get the price and exact work in writing. He told me one price (in writing), then after the work was done, tried to say the materials were an extra cost. When coming back later to fix his mistakes, he tried to use my personal material I had in my yard. INSURANCE - He may lie to you saying he has insurance. Even if he does, he is not willing to use it to fix his mistakes. SKILLSET - Dave and his crew are old and make many mistakes. To the point where the pipe he installed burst, completely flooded my ADU, and cost me thousands. He then came back to fix the pipe, and it burst yet again. Anything he touched had to be fixed. RESPECT - No respect for your belongings, nor does he respect women. I asked him to be careful not to step on my flowers and he turned to his helper and said in Spanish (thinking I could not understand him) "who cares, you can buy flowers at home depot" COMMUNICATION - The flood he caused led to 3 months of construction (should have taken max 2 weeks). Throughout that time, he barely called or texted. He harassed me into letting him use his workers, which I ended up having to completely oversee myself because he was nowhere to be found. When he did communicate, he would start the conversation with a sob story about how poor he was (he also let it slip how many houses his family owns, so he obviously has money). I specifically communicated multiple times exactly when and how I needed to be communicated to, asking him to get my approval at certain intervals throughout his work. He agreed then just flat out didn't do it. COMMON SENSE / DECISION MAKING - Part of the flood repair involved reinstalling kitchen cabinets. I advised him to buy the same cabinets that were already installed because a) those were the cheapest cabinets he could buy; b) he could re-use the cabinets that didn't get too messed up; c) they were the right color, size, style, etc to match the upper kitchen cabinets. I sourced the cabinets myself, made sure they were in stock, and sent the exact details a week in advance of needing them. - Dave proceeded to buy different cabinets that were not completely in stock, a different color and size than the other cabinets, and did not fit in the space. When I asked why, he told me I was being difficult and alluded to me being inexperienced (I've built houses). His workers tried to reinstall the cabinets 4 different times. In the end, I had to hire my own workers to do it MORALS - He stopped paying his workers who were fixing the flood damage. So they would only come every 3 days or so after their jobs for 1-2 hours to try to finish the work. This caused me to loose thousands from not being able to rent the unit. - Dave uses narcissistic and sociopathic techniques to get what he wants. He plays victim, gaslights (putting words in people's mouths and claiming people are talking about me behind my back), and uses manipulation techniques to push boundaries, straight up saying "what kind of person are you" when I simply asked him to fix his mistakes. read more

Very disappointed, made an appointment between 8am-10am, the repair man didn't show up or bothered to call, so I had to call, rescheduled to 12pm, repair man still showed up a bit late. Initially was quoted a price, at the end of repair was charged a different amount. We were out of town for a week and came back to find water leaking from the ceiling and wall in a downstairs bedroom. We suspected the upstairs toilet as it was unexpectedly 'running' when we got home. We sent a request for a quote from D&D at about 9am Saturday morning. Deanne got back to us within an hour and Dave was onsite less than an hour after we confirmed. Turns out the toilet was leaking due to an old rusted out bolt and an old and improperly installed seal. I was expecting to need to make an official appointment but to my surprise he offered to fix it right then and there. Took less than an hour and he showed me how to properly clean my shower drains!
