It was a very simple move--storage unit to storage unit--but I was still worried about it. Freddie, Nick, and Zachary were so prepared, professional, and polite, and they alleviated all worry within minutes. They knew exactly what they were doing, and even though the unit I moved into was _smaller_ than the unit I moved out of (despite both being listed as being the same size, which is something I'll be taking up with the storage facility), the guys handled it, got everything in without damaging anything, and did it all within a couple hours. Moved all my furniture and boxes from a two bedroom three story town home into a storage unit parked outside and around the corner from my town home. The 4 guys that showed up were pleasant, chatty, and very professional. They moved all my stuff and arranged it in the storage unit in about 2.5 hours. I have never hired movers before so was skeptical about the two hours estimate but seeing how nicely my stuff was moved and sorted in the unit make me glad I hired these guys. I was able to schedule a move the next day after my call which helped a lot too. edit 7/21 - the red carpet that was laid out really made our carpet on the stairs dirty. i had to get cleaners to try to clean it out. These guys really need to clean that red carpet thing was brought. But otherwise I'm still happy with the move. read more

I hired D&L Movers to move from an apartment on the 4th floor in N San Jose to a 3 story house in Campbell. The 4 movers who arrived on a Saturday afternoon were incredibly professional, organized and friendly. They texted me 30 minutes beforehand to let me know they were on their way and literally rolled out the red carpet to wheel their dollies along my carpeted apartment. They strategically had one mover man the elevator up and down and had one mover at the truck loading. The other two movers hustled in and out of my apartment so fast we were all packed up in 1.5 hours and on the road to Campbell. As they unloaded the truck in Campbell over the next 2.5 hours, they made sure to ask what room we wanted each item in and were incredibly careful when navigating around sharp corners in the house (not an easy feat!). One of my items was damaged during the move by one of the movers but he immediately pointed out his mistake to me and over the following weeks, the owners Drew and Leo both contacted me to have the item fixed then offered to replace it when the repair was unsuccessful. All in all, the move went great and I much appreciated their honesty, follow-up and great service during and after the move. Firm five stars- highly recommend! read more

Horrible experience. Don't go with these people. Seriously. Don't hire these people. They were hacking the alarm system on one of my cars for fun because they had decided they didn't like me. Some of them are ex-cons. Some of them are very good and have a great attitude but I was paying for a crew of 6. I only got a crew of 4-5 and 1-2 of them had a shit attitude and didn't want to do the work. I would NEVER hire this company again and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Epic fail. What's worse, I sold one of my cars to one of the owners sons. I have now received no less than 5 parking tickets from that car. The kid still hasn't registered the car in hIs name. Does he have insurance? This bothers me because I don't want to be held liable for whatever happens to this car. read more

I could not be more pleased with D&L movers. I have required their services twice in the last five months. Both times, Frankie was the lead of a seven man team. He communicated well, asked questions when needed, kept the team on task, and clearly explained the bill at the end of the job. Due to an error on my end, I overpaid at the end of the job. Overall: Easy to work with, communicative, trustworthy, fair, professional and super skillful at using every available bit of space in the truck and storage locker. I interviewed four companies and my hunch was that D&L was the right blend of professional and small guy operation where there is not waste. This turned out to be true so far. We will use them again at the end of the summer for a move out of storage. Drew, one of the owners, came out to quote the job and his estimate turned out to be correct. He recommended a four man team at 180 an hour and capped out work at nine hours. The work is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath house w a garage and basement full of stuff into storage. The load included multiple heavy antiques, a large washer, and fragile large pieces of art. They arrived on the dot at 8am and immediately informed the neighbors that they could move the truck away from their driveway when needed. I appreciated this professionalism. I had been concerned about moving the washer and was relieved to have a licensed plumber on the moving team. He did not ask me for the screws that hold the washer drum in place when moving. Hopefully that is an unnecessary precaution because it was moved before I thought to give those to him. We will find out when moving out if storage. I observed them being very careful w my antiques and no dings were left in the walls of the house we left. Again, at the end of summer we will know how well the antiques survived. The team was polite, efficient, and (added bonus), a pleasure to be around. They worked diligently and were prepared with endless amounts of packi g material that they did not end up charging us for. They added stops for us at Goodwill to drop of stuff without a fuss. They were so easy to work with! Their big truck was in the shop so they rented a smaller one for our move but, they worked it out so that this was not a penalty to us. Leo, the other owner, earned the title packing master in my mind. He directed the order that things went into the truck for max efficiency. I am convinced he has a gene for excellent spatial relations. There was no wastes space. Likewise, in the storage locker, it's like a puzzle. Watching these athletic movers put things up high into this 22x12 locker was like a Cirque du Soleil act. Not just anyone can do this! Another bit of help was Drew's assurance up front (after talking to Leo for us) that all of our stuff would fit in that size locker. They were really like partners all the way along and used their knowledge in this area to help us wherever they could. I highly recommend them!! read more

I am giving them five stars because I cannot give them six! I moved from Monterey to Gilroy (which is quite a ways from them) at the end of June 13. I had a full household move with fairly short notice and they pulled through in a BIG way. (PS...I am military and move ALOT so I have lots of moving companies across the country to compare them to.) Background: I contacted all the moving companies in Monterey/Santa Cruz that I could get numbers for or internet sites on and not one even replied. I then contacted D&L and another San Jose based moving company. The other company replied that they could move us, but it would cost alot because they would charge us for time to drive down to Monterey. D&L called us right back and setup the move without any problems. Moving: This was a short notice move for us so we had them pack and move us. They sent out 5 packers and had us packed in half a day...by far the fastest and best quality packing job we have ever had done. On move day they brought two trucks and six movers. In one day the moved us out and into our new place...this is usually a multi-day process. These guys worked harder/faster/better than any company we have ever used. (Moved 11 times in last 10 years). I could not have been more impressed. Crew: A uniquely motivated and positive group...not the usual sketchy characters that are usually present on moving crews. Trustworthy, they found one of our Credit Cards when packing and quickly returned among other things. They delivered as described, quote was spot on even though we had a very tough move for them. They were exceedingly competent, efficient, and protective of our belongings. When we met with Drew for an estimate, we asked about whether we should pack the really fragile pieces or if they should. Drew's response was, "Please let us do it, we know how to do it best." Not cocky, just confident in his crew's competence. And he was right! We expected there would be some things damaged. The only damage at all was one small piece broken off of an extremely fragile bit of art glass which, in all honesty, I can't imagine how it could have been better moved except in somebody's lap! Every question or concern we had was responded to with a very friendly, "No worries, we'll take care of it," and they did. Drew is a very values-oriented person, and it shows in how he treats both his customers and his crew. At the end of the move, the entire invoice was gone over with us in person; it was very well-explained and transparent. There were no hidden charges, no unpleasant surprises.
